- It has been narrated on the authority of Umar Bin AlKhattab who said: When it was the day on which the Battle of Badr was fought; the Messenger of Allah ﷺ cast a glance at the infidels; and they were one thousand while his own Companions were three hundred and nineteen. The Prophet ﷺ turned his face towards the Qibla. Then he stretched his hands and began his supplication to his Lord: O Allah; accomplish for me what Thou hast promised to me. O Allah; bring about what Thou hast promised to me. O Allah; if this small band of Muslims is destroyed. Thou will not be worshipped on this earth. He continued his supplication to his Lord; stretching his hands; facing the Qibla; until his mantle slipped down from his shoulders. So Abu Bakr came to him; picked up his mantle and put it on his shoulders. Then he embraced him from behind and said: Prophet of Allah; this prayer of yours to your Lord will suffice you; and He will fulfill for you what He has promised you. So Allah; the Glorious and Exalted; revealed the Quranic verse : When ye appealed to your Lord for help; He responded to your call saying : I will help you with one thousand angels coming in succession. So Allah helped him with angels. Abu Zumail said that the hadith was narrated to him by Ibn Abbas who said: While on that day a Muslim was chasing a disbeliever who was going ahead of him; he heard over him the swishing of the whip and the voice of the rider saying: Go ahead; Haizum! He glanced at the polytheist who had now fallen down on his back. When he looked at him carefully he found that there was a scar on his nose and his face was torn as if it had been lashed with a whip; and had turned green with its poison. An Ansari came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and related this event to him. He said: You have told the truth. This was the help from the third heaven. The Muslims that day i.e. the day of the Battle of Badr killed seventy persons and captured seventy. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Abu Bakr and Umar Allah be pleased with them : What is your opinion about these captives? Abu Bakr said: They are our kith and kin. I think you should release them after getting from them a ransom. This will be a source of strength to us against the infidels. It is quite possible that Allah may guide them to Islam. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: What is your opinion; Ibn AlKhattab? He said: Messenger of Allah; I do not hold the same opinion as Abu Bakr. I am of the opinion that you should hand them over to us so that we may cut off their heads. Hand over Aqil to Ali that he may cut off his head; and hand over such and such relative to me that I may cut off his head. They are leaders of the disbelievers and veterans among them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ approved the opinion of Abu Bakr and did not approve what I said. The next day when I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; I found that both he and Abu Bakr were sitting shedding tears. I said: Messenger of Allah; why are you and your Companion shedding tears? Tell me the reason. For I will weep; or I will at least pretend to weep in sympathy with you. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: I weep for what has happened to your companions for taking ransom from the prisoners. I was shown the torture to which they were subjected. It was brought to me as close as this tree. He pointed to a tree close to him. Then God revealed the verse: It is not befitting for a prophet that he should take prisoners until the force of the disbelievers has been crushed... to the end of the verse: so eat ye the spoils of war; it is lawful and pure. So Allah made booty lawful for them. SahihMuslim-017-001-18051
- Narrated Ibn Abbas: On the day of the battle of Badr; the Prophet ﷺ said; O Allah! I appeal to You to fulfill Your Covenant and Promise. O Allah! If Your Will is that none should worship You then give victory to the pagans. Then Abu Bakr took hold of him by the hand and said; This is sufficient for you. The Prophet came out saying; Their multitude will be put to flight and they will show their backs. 54.45 SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6309
- Narrated Abdullah Bin Abi Aufa: Allah Messenger ﷺ invoked evil upon the pagans on the ay of the battle of AlAhzab; saying; O Allah! The Revealer of the Holy Book; the Swift-Taker of Accounts; O Allah; defeat AlAhzab i.e. the clans ; O Allah; defeat them and shake them. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-4603
- Anas Bin Malik narrated that the Messenger of Allah sallAllahu Alayhi wa sallam said: Whoever asks for a position as a judge; then he left on his own. And whoever is forced onto it; Allah sends an angel down to him so that he can be correct. Daif SunanAlTermithi-017-001-7440
- Narrated Aisha: When it was the day of Uhud; the pagans were defeated. Then Satan; Allah Curse be upon him; cried loudly; O Allah Worshippers; beware of what is behind! On that; the front files of the Muslim forces turned their backs and started fighting with the back files. Hudhaifa looked; and on seeing his father AlYaman; he shouted; O Allah Worshippers; my father; my father! But by Allah; they did not stop till they killed him. Hudhaifa said; May Allah forgive you. The sub-narrator; Urwa; said; By Allah; Hudhaifa continued asking Allah Forgiveness for the killers of his father till he departed to Allah i.e. died. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6414
- Saad reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ bestowed upon a group of persons booty and I was sitting with them. The remaining part of the hadith is the same as mentioned above with the additionI stood up and went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and whispered to him: Why did you omit such and such a man? SahihMuslim-017-001-18669
- Narrated Anas: When it was the day of the battle of Hunain; the Prophet ﷺ confronted the tribe of Hawazin while there were ten-thousand men besides the Tulaqa i.e. those who had embraced Islam on the day of the Conquest of Mecca with the Prophet. When they i.e. Muslims fled; the Prophet ﷺ said; O the group of Ansari They replied; Labbaik; O Allah Messenger ﷺ and Sadaik! We are under your command. Then the Prophet ﷺ got down from his mule and said; I am Allah Slave and His Apostle. Then the pagans were defeated. The Prophet ﷺ distributed the war booty amongst the Tulaqa and Muhajirin i.e. Emigrants and did not give anything to the Ansar. So the Ansar spoke i.e. were dissatisfied and he called them and made them enter a leather tent and said; Wont you be pleased that the people take the sheep and camels; and you take Allah Messenger ﷺ along with you? The Prophet ﷺ added; If the people took their way through a valley and the Ansar took their way through a mountain pass; then I would choose a mountain pass of the Ansar. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6666

- Narrated Jabir Bin Samura: The People of Kufa complained against Saad to Umar and the latter dismissed him and appointed Ammar as their chief. They lodged many complaints against Saad and even they alleged that he did not pray properly. Umar sent for him and said; O Aba Ishaq! These people claim that you do not pray properly. Abu Ishaq said; By Allah; I used to pray with them a prayer similar to that of Allah Apostle and I never reduced anything of it. I used to prolong the first two rakat of Isha prayer and shorten the last two rakat. Umar said; O Aba Ishaq; this was what I thought about you. And then he sent one or more persons with him to Kufa so as to ask the people about him. So they went there and did not leave any Masjid without asking about him. All the people praised him till they came to the Masjid of the tribe of Bani Abs; one of the men called Usama Bin Qatada with a surname of Aba Sada stood up and said; As you have put us under an oath; I am bound to tell you that Saad never went himself with the army and never distributed the war booty equally and never did justice in legal verdicts. On hearing it Saad said; I pray to Allah for three things: O Allah! If this slave of yours is a liar and got up for showing off; give him a long life; increase his poverty and put him to trials. And so it happened. Later on when that person was asked how he was; he used to reply that he was an old man in trial as the result of Saad curse. Abdul Malik; the sub narrator; said that he had seen him afterwards and his eyebrows were overhanging his eyes owing to old age and he used to tease and assault the small girls in the way. - Narrated Anas: When it was the day of the Conquest of Mecca Allah Messenger ﷺ distributed the war booty amongst the people of Quraish which caused the Ansar to become angry. So the Prophet ﷺ said; Wont you be pleased that the people take the worldly things and you take Allah Messenger ﷺ with you? They said; Yes. AlBara replied; But Allah Messenger ﷺ did not flee. The people of Hawazin were good archers; and when we attacked them; they fled. But rushing towards the booty; we were confronted by the arrows of the enemy. I saw the Prophet ﷺ riding his white mule while Abu Sufyan was holding its reins; and the Prophet ﷺ was saying I am the Prophet ﷺ undoubtedly. Israil and Zuhair said; The Prophet ﷺ dismounted from his Mule. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6652
- Narrated Abu Huraira: that the Prophet ﷺ said: None of the black heads meaning the Children of Adam since most of their heads are black before you partook of spoils of war; but fire from the heavens would be sent down upon them; consuming them. Sulaiman one of the narrators said No one says this except for Abu Huraira now. So on the day of Badr when they had the spoils of war before it was made lawful for them; Allah [Most High] revealed: Were it not a previous ordainment from Allah; a severe torment would have touched you for what you took. SunanAlTermithi-017-001-9962
- It has been narrated on the authority of Abbas who said: I was in the company of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the Day of Hunain. I and Abd Sufyan Bin Harith Bin Abd AlMuttalib stuck to the Messenaer of Allah ﷺ and we did not separate from him. Abbas who was a man with a loud voice called out at the top of the voice: Where are the people of Samura? Abbas said: And by God; when they heard my voice; they came back to us as cows come back to their calves; and said: We are present; we are present! Abbas said: They began to fight the infidels. Then there was a call to The Ansar. Those who called out to them shouted: O ye party of the Ansar! O party of the Ansar! Banu AlHarith Bin AlKhazraj were the last to be called. Those who called out to them shouted: O Banu AlHarith Bin AlKhazraj! O BanU Harith Bin AlKhazraj! And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who was riding on his mule looked at their fight with his neck stretched forward and he said: This is the time when the fight is raging hot. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ took some pebbles and threw them in the face of the infidels. Then he said: By the Lord of Muhammad; the infidels are defeated. Abbas said: I went round and saw that the battle was in the same condition in which I had seen it. By Allah; it remained in the same condition until he threw the pebbles. I continued to watch until I found that their force had been spent out and they began to retreat. SahihMuslim-017-001-18076
- Narrated Aisha: Saad was wounded on the day of Khandaq i.e. Trench when a man from Quraish; called Hibban Bin AlAraqa hit him with an arrow. The man was Hibban Bin Qais from the tribe of Bani Mais Bin Amir Bin Louai who shot an arrow at Saad medial arm vein or main artery of the arm. The Prophet ﷺ pitched a tent for Sad in the Masjid so that he might be near to the Prophet ﷺ to visit. When the Prophet returned from the battle of AlKhandaq i.e. Trench and laid down his arms and took a bath Gabriel came to him while he i.e. Gabriel was shaking the dust off his head; and said; You have laid down the arms? By Allah; I have not laid them down. Go out to them to attack them. The Prophet ﷺ said; Where? Gabriel pointed towards Bani Quraidha. So Allah Messenger ﷺ went to them i.e. Banu Quraidha i.e. besieged them. They then surrendered to the Prophet judgment but he directed them to Saad to give his verdict concerning them. Saad said; I give my judgment that their warriors should be killed; their women and children should be taken as captives; and their properties distributed. Narrated Hisham: My father informed me that Aisha said; Saad said; O Allah! You know that there is nothing more beloved to me than to fight in Your Cause against those who disbelieved Your Apostle and turned him out of Mecca. O Allah! I think you have put to an end the fight between us and them i.e. Quraish infidels. And if there still remains any fight with the Quraish infidels ; then keep me alive till I fight against them for Your Sake. But if you have brought the war to an end; then let this wound burst and cause my death thereby. So blood gushed from the wound. There was a tent in the Masjid belonging to Banu Ghifar who were surprised by the blood flowing towards them. They said; O people of the tent! What is this thing which is coming to us from your side? Behold! Blood was flowing profusely out of Saad wound. Saad then died because of that. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6470
