SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1288 | Narrated Zaid Bin Thabit: Abu Bakr sent for me owing to the large number of casualties in the battle of AlYamama; while Umar was sitting with him. Abu Bakr said to me ; Umar has come to my and said; A great number of Qaris of the Holy Quran were killed on the day of the battle of AlYamama; and I am afraid that the casualties among the Qaris of the Quran may increase on other battle-fields whereby a large part of the Quran may be lost. Therefore I consider it advisable that you Abu Bakr should have the Quran collected. I said; How dare I do something which Allah Messenger ﷺ did not do? Umar said; By Allah; it is something beneficial. Umar kept on pressing me for that till Allah opened my chest for that for which He had opened the chest of Umar and I had in that matter; the same opinion as Umar had. Abu Bakr then said to me Zaid ; You are a wise young man and we do not have any suspicion about you; and you used to write the Divine Inspiration for Allah Messenger ﷺ. So you should search for the fragmentary scripts of the Quran and collect it in one Book. Zaid further said: By Allah; if Abu Bakr had ordered me to shift a mountain among the mountains from one place to another it would not have been heavier for me than this ordering me to collect the Quran. Then I said to Umar and Abu Bakr ; How can you do something which Allah Messenger ﷺ did not do? Abu Bakr said; By Allah; it is something beneficial. Zaid added: So he Abu Bakr kept on pressing me for that until Allah opened my chest for that for which He had opened the chests of Abu Bakr and Umar; and I had in that matter; the same opinion as theirs. So I started compiling the Quran by collecting it from the leafless stalks of the date-palm tree and from the pieces of leather and hides and from the stones; and from the chests of men who had memorized the Quran. I found the last verses of Surat AlTauba: Verily there has come unto you an Apostle Muhammad from amongst yourselves- 9.128-129 from Khuzaima or Abi Khuzaima and I added to it the rest of the Sura. The manuscripts of the Quran remained with Abu Bakr till Allah took him unto Him. Then it remained with Umar till Allah took him unto Him; and then with Hafsa bint Umar. | The Chapter on Lost And Found And Alquran in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on It is desirable that a scribe should be honest and wise in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1437 | Narrated Sahl Bin Saad AlSaidi: Uwaimir AlAjlani came to Aasi m Bin Adi and said; If a man found another man with his wife and killed him; would you sentence the husband to death in Qisas; i.e.; equality in punishment ? O Aasi m! Please ask Allah Messenger ﷺ about this matter on my behalf. Aasi m asked the Prophet ﷺ but the Prophet disliked the question and disapproved of it. Aasi m returned and informed Uwaimir that the Prophet disliked that type of question. Uwaimir said; By Allah; I will go personally to the Prophet. Uwaimir came to the Prophet ﷺ when Allah had already revealed Quranic Verses in that respect ; after Aasi m had left the Prophet ﷺ. So the Prophet ﷺ said to Uwaimir; Allah has revealed Quranic Verses regarding you and your wife. The Prophet ﷺ then called for them; and they came and carried out the order of Lian. Then Uwaimir said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Now if I kept her with me; I would be accused of telling a lie. So Uwaimir divorced her although the Prophet ﷺ did not order him to do so. Later on this practice of divorcing became the tradition of couples involved in a case of Lian. The Prophet ﷺ said to the people. Wait for her! If she delivers a red short small child like a Wahra a short red animal. then I will be of the opinion that he Uwaimir has told a lie but if she delivered a black big-eyed one with big buttocks; then I will be of the opinion that he has told the truth about her. Ultimately she gave birth to a child that proved the accusation. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2148 | Narrated Sahl Bin Saad AlSaid: A man passed by Allah Messenger ﷺ and the Prophet ﷺ asked a man sitting beside him; What is your opinion about this passer-by ? He replied; This passer-by is from the noble class of people. By Allah; if he should ask for a lady hand in marriage; he ought to be given her in marriage; and if he intercedes for somebody; his intercession will be accepted. Allah Messenger ﷺ kept quiet; and then another man passed by and Allah Messenger ﷺ asked the same man his companion again; What is your opinion about this second one? He said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! This person is one of the poor Muslims. If he should ask a lady hand in marriage; no-one will accept him; and if he intercedes for somebody; no one will accept his intercession; and if he talks; no-one will listen to his talk. Then Allah Messenger ﷺ said; This poor man is better than such a large number of the first type i.e. rich men as to fill the earth. | The Chapter on Allah And Prophets And Comanions in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The superiority of being poor in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2402 | Narrated Abdullah Bin Abbas: Umar Bin AlKhattab departed for Sham and when he reached Sargh; the commanders of the Muslim army; Abu Ubaida Bin AlJarrah and his companions met him and told him that an epidemic had broken out in Sham. Umar said; Call for me the early emigrants. So Umar called them; consulted them and informed them that an epidemic had broken out in Sham. Those people differed in their opinions. Some of them said; We have come out for a purpose and we do not think that it is proper to give it up; while others said to Umar ; You have along with you. other people and the companions of Allah Messenger ﷺ so do not advise that we take them to this epidemic. Umar said to them; Leave me now. Then he said; Call the Ansar for me. I called them and he consulted them and they followed the way of the emigrants and differed as they did. He then said to them; Leave me now; and added; Call for me the old people of Quraish who emigrated in the year of the Conquest of Mecca. I called them and they gave a unanimous opinion saying; We advise that you should return with the people and do not take them to that place of epidemic. So Umar made an announcement; I will ride back to Medina in the morning; so you should do the same. Abu Ubaida Bin AlJarrah said to Umar ; Are you running away from what Allah had ordained? Umar said; Would that someone else had said such a thing; O Abu Ubaida! Yes; we are running from what Allah had ordained to what Allah has ordained. Dont you agree that if you had camels that went down a valley having two places; one green and the other dry; you would graze them on the green one only if Allah had ordained that; and you would graze them on the dry one only if Allah had ordained that? At that time Abdulrahman Bin Auf; who had been absent because of some job; came and said; I have some knowledge about this. I have heard Allah Messenger ﷺ saying; If you hear about it an outbreak of plague in a land; do not go to it; but if plague breaks out in a country where you are staying; do not run away from it. Umar thanked Allah and returned to Medina. | The Chapter on Cities Yemen And Epidemic in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on What has been mentioned about the plague in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3538 | Narrated Sahl Bin Saad AlSaidi: While I was sitting among the people in the company of Allah Messenger ﷺ a woman stood up and said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! She has given herself in marriage to you; please give your opinion of her. The Prophet did not give her any reply. She again stood up and said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! She has given herself in marriage to you; so please give your opinion of her. The Prophet ﷺ did not give her any reply. She again stood up for the third time and said; She has given herself in marriage to you: so give your opinion of her. So a man stood up and said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Marry her to me. The Prophet asked him; Have you got anything? He said; No. The Prophet ﷺ said; Go and search for something; even if it were an iron ring. The man went and searched and then returned saying; I could not find anything; not even an iron ring. Then the Prophet ﷺ said; Do you know something of the Quran by heart ? He replied; I know by heart such Surat and such Sura. The Prophet ﷺ said; Go! I have married her to you for what you know of the Quran by heart. | The Chapter on Lost And Found And Alquran in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on To marry a lady to a man for what he knows of the Quran in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6964 | Narrated Ibn Umar: That a man came to him while two groups of Muslims were fighting and said; O Abu Abdulrahman Dont you hear what Allah has mentioned in His Book: And if two groups of believers fight against each other... 49.9 So what prevents you from fighting as Allah has mentioned in His Book? Ibn Umar said; O son of my brother! I would rather be blamed for not fighting because of this Verse than to be blamed because of another Verse where Allah says: And whoever kills a believer intentionally... 4.93 Then that man said; Allah says:- And fight them until there is no more afflictions worshipping other besides Allah and the religion i.e. worship will be all for Allah Alone 8.39 Ibn Umar said; We did this during the lifetime of Allah Messenger ﷺ when the number of Muslims was small; and a man was put to trial because of his religion; the pagans would either kill or chain him; but when the Muslims increased and Islam spread ; there was no persecution. When that man saw that Ibn Umar did not agree to his proposal; he said; What is your opinion regarding Ali and Uthman? Ibn Umar said; What is my opinion regarding Ali and Uthman? As for Uthman; Allah forgave him and you disliked to forgive him; and Ali is the cousin and son-in-law of Allah Messenger ﷺ. Then he pointed out with his hand and said; And that is his daughter house which you can see. | The Chapter on Family And Forgiveness in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Prophetic Commentary on the Quran Tafseer of the Prophet in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6993 | Narrated Zaid Bin Thabit AlAnsari: who was one of those who used to write the Divine Revelation: Abu Bakr sent for me after the heavy casualties among the warriors of the battle of Yamama where a great number of Qurra were killed. Umar was present with Abu Bakr who said; Umar has come to me and said; The people have suffered heavy casualties on the day of the battle of Yamama; and I am afraid that there will be more casualties among the Qurra those who know the Quran by heart at other battle-fields; whereby a large part of the Quran may be lost; unless you collect it. And I am of the opinion that you should collect the Quran. Abu Bakr added; I said to Umar; How can I do something which Allah Apostle has not done? Umar said to me ; By Allah; it is really a good thing. So Umar kept on pressing; trying to persuade me to accept his proposal; till Allah opened my bosom for it and I had the same opinion as Umar. Zaid Bin Thabit added: Umar was sitting with him Abu Bakr and was not speaking. me. You are a wise young man and we do not suspect you of telling lies or of forgetfulness : and you used to write the Divine Inspiration for Allah Messenger ﷺ. Therefore; look for the Quran and collect it in one manuscript. By Allah; if he Abu Bakr had ordered me to shift one of the mountains from its place it would not have been harder for me than what he had ordered me concerning the collection of the Quran. I said to both of them; How dare you do a thing which the Prophet has not done? Abu Bakr said; By Allah; it is really a good thing. So I kept on arguing with him about it till Allah opened my bosom for that which He had opened the bosoms of Abu Bakr and Umar. So I started locating Quranic material and collecting it from parchments; scapula; leaf-stalks of date palms and from the memories of men who knew it by heart. I found with Khuzaima two Verses of Surat AlTauba which I had not found with anybody else; and they were :- Verily there has come to you an Apostle Muhammad from amongst yourselves. It grieves him that you should receive any injury or difficulty He Muhammad is ardently anxious over you to be rightly guided 9.128 The manuscript on which the Quran was collected; remained with Abu Bakr till Allah took him unto Him; and then with Umar till Allah took him unto Him; and finally it remained with Hafsa; Umar daughter. | The Chapter on Lost And Found And Alquran in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Prophetic Commentary on the Quran Tafseer of the Prophet in Sahih AlBukhari |

SahihMuslim-017-001-17220 | Salama Bin Kuhail reported: I heard Sowaid Bin Ghafala say: I went out; and also Zaid Bin Suhan and Salman Bin Rabia for Jihad; and I found a whip and took it up. They said to me: Leave it. I said: No. but I will make announcement of it and if its owner comes then I will return that ; otherwise I will use it; and I refused them. When we returned from Jihad. by a good fortune for me; I performed Pilgrimage. I came to Medina and met Ubay Bin Kaab and related to him the affair of the whip and their opinion the opinion of Zaid Bin Suhan and Salman Bin Rabia about it i. e. I should throw it. Thereupon he said: I found a money bag during the lifetime of Allah Messenger ﷺ which contained one hundred dinars. I came to him along with it; and he said: Make an announcement of it for one year; so I announced it; but did not find anyone who could claim it after recognising it. I again came to him and he said: Make announcement for one year. So I made announcement of it; but I found none who could recognise it. I came to him he said: Make announcement of it for one year. I made announcement of that but did not find one who could recognise it; whereupon he said: Preserve in your mind its number; its bag and its strap; and if its owner comes then return that to him ; otherwise make use of it. When Umar became the Commander of the Faithful and the people went near to pastures and towns; he said to the Companions of the Holy Prophet. What is your opinion about lashing for drinking? SahihMuslim-017-001-18051 | It has been narrated on the authority of Umar Bin AlKhattab who said: When it was the day on which the Battle of Badr was fought; the Messenger of Allah ﷺ cast a glance at the infidels; and they were one thousand while his own Companions were three hundred and nineteen. The Prophet ﷺ turned his face towards the Qibla. Then he stretched his hands and began his supplication to his Lord: O Allah; accomplish for me what Thou hast promised to me. O Allah; bring about what Thou hast promised to me. O Allah; if this small band of Muslims is destroyed. Thou will not be worshipped on this earth. He continued his supplication to his Lord; stretching his hands; facing the Qibla; until his mantle slipped down from his shoulders. So Abu Bakr came to him; picked up his mantle and put it on his shoulders. Then he embraced him from behind and said: Prophet of Allah; this prayer of yours to your Lord will suffice you; and He will fulfill for you what He has promised you. So Allah; the Glorious and Exalted; revealed the Quranic verse : When ye appealed to your Lord for help; He responded to your call saying : I will help you with one thousand angels coming in succession. So Allah helped him with angels. Abu Zumail said that the hadith was narrated to him by Ibn Abbas who said: While on that day a Muslim was chasing a disbeliever who was going ahead of him; he heard over him the swishing of the whip and the voice of the rider saying: Go ahead; Haizum! He glanced at the polytheist who had now fallen down on his back. When he looked at him carefully he found that there was a scar on his nose and his face was torn as if it had been lashed with a whip; and had turned green with its poison. An Ansari came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and related this event to him. He said: You have told the truth. This was the help from the third heaven. The Muslims that day i.e. the day of the Battle of Badr killed seventy persons and captured seventy. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Abu Bakr and Umar Allah be pleased with them : What is your opinion about these captives? Abu Bakr said: They are our kith and kin. I think you should release them after getting from them a ransom. This will be a source of strength to us against the infidels. It is quite possible that Allah may guide them to Islam. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: What is your opinion; Ibn AlKhattab? He said: Messenger of Allah; I do not hold the same opinion as Abu Bakr. I am of the opinion that you should hand them over to us so that we may cut off their heads. Hand over Aqil to Ali that he may cut off his head; and hand over such and such relative to me that I may cut off his head. They are leaders of the disbelievers and veterans among them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ approved the opinion of Abu Bakr and did not approve what I said. The next day when I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; I found that both he and Abu Bakr were sitting shedding tears. I said: Messenger of Allah; why are you and your Companion shedding tears? Tell me the reason. For I will weep; or I will at least pretend to weep in sympathy with you. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: I weep for what has happened to your companions for taking ransom from the prisoners. I was shown the torture to which they were subjected. It was brought to me as close as this tree. He pointed to a tree close to him. Then God revealed the verse: It is not befitting for a prophet that he should take prisoners until the force of the disbelievers has been crushed... to the end of the verse: so eat ye the spoils of war; it is lawful and pure. So Allah made booty lawful for them. | The Chapter on Almaghazi And Alansar in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 18 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-19120 | Abu Bakra reported Allah Messenger ﷺ as saying: There would soon be turmoil. Behold! there would be turmoil in which the one who would be seated would be better than one who would stand and the one who would stand would be better than one who would run. Behold! when the turmoil comes or it appears; the one who has camel should stick to his camel and he who has sheep or goat should stick to his sheep and goat and he who has land should stick to the land. A person said: Allah Messenger; what is your opinion about one who has neither camel nor sheep nor land? Thereupon; he said: He should take hold of his sword and beat its edge with the help of stone and then try to find a way of escape. O Allah; I have conveyed Thy Message ; O Allah; I have conveyed Thy Message ; O Allah; I have conveyed Thy Message. A person said: Allah Messenger; what is your opinion if I am drawn to a rank in spite of myself; or in one of the groups and made to march and a man strikes with his sword or there comes an arrow and kills me? SahihMuslim-017-001-20132 | Musa Bin Talha reported: I and Allah Messenger ﷺ happened to pass by people near the date-palm trees. He the Holy Prophet said: What are these people doing? They said: They are grafting; i. e. they combine the male with the female tree and thus they yield more fruit. Thereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said: I do not find it to be of any use. The people were informed about it and they abandoned this practice. Allah Messenger ﷺ was later on informed that the yield had dwindled ; whereupon he said: If there is any use of it; then they should do it; for it was just a personal opinion of mine; and do not go after my personal opinion; but when I say to you anything on behalf of Allah; then do accept it; for I do not attribute lie to Allah; the Exalted and Glorious. | The Chapter on Facts And Aldajjal in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 38 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-20310 | Abdullah Bin Abbas reported: Umar Bin AlKhattab set out for Syria. As he came at Sargh a town by the side of Hijaz on the way to Syria ; there met him the commander of the forces; Abu Ubaida Bin Jandb; and his companions. They informed him that a scourge had broken out in Syria. Ibn Abbas further reported that Umar said: Call to me tile earliest emigrants. So I called them. He Hadrat Umar sought their advice; and they told him that the scourge had broker; out in Syria. There was a difference of opinion whether they should proceed further or go back to their homes in such a situation. Some of them said: You Umar have set forth for a task; and; therefore; we would not advise you to go back; whereas some of them said: You have along with you the remnants of the sacred galaxy of men and the blessed Companions of Allah Messenger ﷺ ; so we would not advise you to go forth towards this calamity with such eminent persons and thus expose them deliberately to a danger. He Hadrat Umar said: You can now go away. He said: Call to me the Ansar. So I called them to him; and he consulted them; and they trod the same path as was trodden by the Muhajirin; and they differed in their opinions as they had differed. He said: Now; you can go. He again said: Call to me the old persons of the Quraish who had migrated before the Victory that is the Victory of Mecca ; so I called them and Hadrat Umar consulted them and not even two persons differed from the opinion held by the earlier delegates. They said: Our opinion is that you better go back along with the people and do not make them go to this scourge; So Umar made announcement to the people: In the morning I would be on the back of my side. So they set forth in the morning ; whereupon Abu Ubaida Bin Jarrah said: Are you going to run away from the Divine Decree? Thereupon Umar said: Had it been someone else to say this besides you! Umar in fact did not approve of his opposing this decision and he said: Yes; we are running from the Divine Decree to the Divine Decree. You should think if there had been camels for you and you happened to get down in a valley having two sides; one of them covered with verdure and the other being barren; would you not be doing according to the Divine Decree if you graze them in verdure? And in case you graze them in the barren land even then you would be grazing them according to the Divine Decree. There happened to come Abdulrahman Bin Auf and he had been absent in connection with some of his needs. He said: I have with me a knowledge of it; that I heard Allah Messenger ﷺ as saying: If you hear of its presence the presence of plague in a land; dont enter it; but if it spreads in the land where you are; dont fly from it. So I made my wife like my mother back to me till the end of Ramadan. But one night when she was waiting upon me; something of her was revealed. Suddenly I jumped upon her. When the morning came I went to my people and informed them about this matter. I said: Go along with me to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. They said: No; by Allah. So I went to the Prophet ﷺ and informed him of the matter. He said: Have you really committed it; Salamah? I said: I committed it twice; Messenger of Allah. I am content with the Commandment of Allah; the Exalted; so take a decision about me according to what Allah has shown you. He said: Free a slave. I said: By Him Who sent you with truth; I do not possess a neck other than this: and I struck the surface of my neck. He said: Then fast two consecutive months. I said: Whatever I suffered is due to fasting. He said: Feed sixty poor people with a wasq of dates. I said: By Him Who sent you with truth; we passed the night hungry; there was no food in our house. He said: Then go to the collector of sadaqah of Banu Zurayq; he must give it to you. Then feed sixty poor people with a wasq of dates; and you and your family eat the remaining dates. He asked: Who are the people buried in these graves? The people replied: Messenger of Allah! These are some people who died in the pre-Islamic times. He said: Seek refuge in Allah from the punishment of the fire; and the trail of Antichrist. They asked: Why is it that; Messenger of Allah? He said: When a man is placed in his grave; an angel comes to him and says to him: Whom did you worship? Allah then guides him and he says: I worshiped Allah. He is then asked: What was your opinion of this man? He replies: He is Allahs servant and His Apostle. He will not then be asked about anything else. He will then be taken to his abode in Hell and will be told: This was your abode in Hell; but Allah protected you and had mercy on you substituted for you an abode in Paradise for it. He will say: Leave me so that I may go and give glad tidings to my family. He will be told: Dwell. When an infidel is placed in his grave; an angel comes to him; reprimands him and asks him: Whom did you worship? He replies: I do not know. He will be told: You neither knew nor did you follow the believers. He is then asked: What was your opinion on this man? He replies: I held the opinion that the other people held. He will then give him a blow between his ears with an iron hammer and will utter a shout which will be heard by all the creatures near him with the exception of men and jinn. | The Chapter on Worship To Save Oneself From Hell Fire in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Questioning And Punishment In The Grave in Sunan Abu Dawoud
SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-26053 | Abu Umayah AlShabani said: I asked Abu Thalabah AlKhushani: What is your opinion about the verse Care for yourselves. He said: I swear by Allah; I asked the one who was well informed about it; I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about it. He said: No; enjoin one another to do what is good and forbid one another to do what is evil. But when you see niggardliness being obeyed; passion being followed; worldly interests being preferred; everyone being charmed with his opinion; then care for yourself; and leave alone what people in general are doing; for ahead of you are days which will require endurance; in which showing endurance will be like grasping live coals. The one who acts rightly during that period will have the reward of fifty men who act as he does. Another version has: He said The hearers asked: Messenger of Allah; the reward of fifty of them? He replied: The reward of fifty of you. | The Chapter on Facts And Alquran in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Command And Prohibition in Sunan Abu Dawoud
SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-28985 | Narrated Abdullah Ibn Amr Ibn AlAs: There was a bedouin called Abu Thalabah. He said: Messenger of Allah; I have trained dogs; so tell me your opinion about eating the animal they hunt. The Prophet ﷺ said: If you have trained dogs; then eat what they catch for you. He asked: Whether it is slaughtered or not? He replied: Yes. He asked: Does it apply even if it eats any of it? He replied: Even if it eats any of it. He again asked: Messenger of Allah; tell me your opinion about my bow i.e. the game hunted by arrow. He said: Eat what your bow returns to you; whether it is slaughtered or not. He asked: If it goes out of my sight? He replied: Even if it goes out of your sight; provided it has no stench; or you find a mark on it other than the mark of your arrow. He asked: Tell me about the use of the vessels of the Magians when we are forced to use them. He replied: Wash them and eat in them. | The Chapter on Games And Hunting And Training in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Regarding Hunting in Sunan Abu Dawoud |

MuwataMalik-017-001-34669 | Yahya related to me from Malik that his paternal uncle; Abu Suhayl Ibn Malik said; I was a prisoner with Umar Ibn Abd AlAziz. He said; What do you think about these Qadariya fatalists ? I said; My opinion is that one should ask them to turn from wrong action; if they will do so. If not; subject them to the sword. Umar Ibn Abd AlAziz said; That is my opinion. Malik added; That is my opinion also. | The Chapter on Lost And Found And Grieve in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Purity in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35294 | Yahya related to me from Malik from Damra Ibn Said AlMazini from AlAlHajjaj Ibn Amr Ibn Ghaziya that he was sitting with Zayd Ibn Thabit when Ibn Fahd came to him. He was from the Yemen. He said; Abu Said! I have slave-girls. None of the wives in my keep are more pleasing to me than them; and not all of them please me so much that I want a child by them; shall I then practise coitus interruptus? Zayd Ibn Thabit said; Give an opinion; Hajjaj! I said; May Allah forgive you! We sit with you in order to learn from you! He said; Give an opinion! I said; She is your field; if you wish; water it; and if you wish; leave it thirsty. I heard that from Zayd. Zayd said; He has spoken the truth. | The Chapter on Lost And Found And Grieve in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Sacrificial Animals in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35652 | Yahya related to me from Malik from Yahya Ibn Said that AlQasim Ibn Muhammad said; One of my wives died and Muhammad Ibn Kaab AlQuradhi came to console me about her. He told me of one among the Bani Israil who was a diligent; worshipping; knowing and understanding man who had a wife that he admired and loved; and she died. He grieved over her intensely and lamented her until he withdrew into a house and locked himself in; hidden from everyone; and no-one visited him. A woman heard about him and went to him; saying; I need him to give me an opinion. Nothing will satisfy me except what he says about it. Everyone went away; but she stuck to his door and said; I must see him. Someone said to him; There is a woman who wishes to ask your opinion about something; and she insisted; I will only talk to him about it. When everyone had gone away; and she still had not left his door; he said; Let her in. So she went in and saw him and said; I have come to ask your opinion about something. He said; What is it? She said; I borrowed a piece of jewellery from a neighbour of mine; and I have worn it and used it for a long time. Then they sent to me for it. Should I let them have it back? He said; Yes; by Allah. She said; I have had it for a long time. He said; It is more correct for you to return it to them; since they have lent it to you for such a long time. She said; Yes. May Allah have mercy on you. Do you then grieve over what Allah has lent you and then taken from you; when He has a greater right to it than you? Then he saw the situation he was in; and Allah helped him by her words. | The Chapter on Lost And Found And Grieve in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Hajj in Muwata Malik |
