SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1220Narrated Jabir Bin Abdullah: We were in the company of Allah Messenger ﷺ and we assumed the state of Ihram of Hajj and arrived at Mecca on the fourth of Dhu AlHijja. The Prophet ﷺ ordered us to perform the Tawaf around the Kaba and Sai between AlSafa and AlMarwa and use our lhram just for Umra; and finish the state of Ihram unless we had our Hadi with us. None of us had the Hadi with him except the Prophet ﷺ and Talha. Ali came from Yemen and brought the Hadi with him. Ali said; I had assumed the state of Ihram with the same intention as that with which Allah Messenger ﷺ had assumed it. The people said; How can we proceed to Mina and our male organs are dribbling? Allah Messenger ﷺ said; If I had formerly known what I came to know latterly; I would not have brought the Hadi; and had there been no Hadi with me; I would have finished my Ihram. Suraqa bin Malik met the Prophet ﷺ while he was throwing pebbles at the Jamrat AlAqaba; and asked; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Is this permitted for us only? The Prophet ﷺ replied. No; it is forever Aisha had arrived at Mecca while she was menstruating; therefore the Prophet ﷺ ordered her to perform all the ceremonies of Hajj except the Tawaf around the Kaba; and not to perform her prayers unless and until she became clean. When they encamped at AlBatha; Aisha said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! You are proceeding after performing both Hajj and Umra while I am proceeding with Hajj only? SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1678Narrated Samura Bin Jundub: Allah Messenger ﷺ very often used to ask his companions; Did anyone of you see a dream? So dreams would be narrated to him by those whom Allah wished to tell. One morning the Prophet ﷺ said; Last night two persons came to me in a dream and woke me up and said to me; Proceed! I set out with them and we came across a man lying down; and behold; another man was standing over his head; holding a big rock. Behold; he was throwing the rock at the man head; injuring it. The rock rolled away and the thrower followed it and took it back. By the time he reached the man; his head returned to the normal state. The thrower then did the same as he had done before. I said to my two companions; Subhan Allah! Who are these two persons? They said; Proceed! So we proceeded and came to a man lying flat on his back and another man standing over his head with an iron hook; and behold; he would put the hook in one side of the man mouth and tear off that side of his face to the back of the neck and similarly tear his nose from front to back and his eye from front to back. Then he turned to the other side of the man face and did just as he had done with the other side. He hardly completed this side when the other side returned to its normal state. Then he returned to it to repeat what he had done before. I said to my two companions; Subhan Allah! Who are these two persons? They said to me; Proceed! So we proceeded and came across something like a Tannur a kind of baking oven; a pit usually clay-lined for baking bread. I think the Prophet ﷺ said; In that oven there was much noise and voices. The Prophet ﷺ added; We looked into it and found naked men and women; and behold; a flame of fire was reaching to them from underneath; and when it reached them; they cried loudly. I asked them; Who are these? They said to me; Proceed! And so we proceeded and came across a river. I think he said;.... red like blood. The Prophet ﷺ added; And behold; in the river there was a man swimming; and on the bank there was a man who had collected many stones. Behold; while the other man was swimming; he went near him. The former opened his mouth and the latter on the bank threw a stone into his mouth whereupon he went swimming again. He returned and every time the performance was repeated. I asked my two companions; Who are these two persons? They replied; Proceed! Proceed! And we proceeded till we came to a man with a repulsive appearance; the most repulsive appearance; you ever saw a man having! Beside him there was a fire and he was kindling it and running around it. I asked my companions; Who is this man ? They said to me; Proceed! Proceed! So we proceeded till we reached a garden of deep green dense vegetation; having all sorts of spring colors. In the midst of the garden there was a very tall man and I could hardly see his head because of his great height; and around him there were children in such a large number as I have never seen. I said to my companions; Who is this? They replied; Proceed! Proceed! So we proceeded till we came to a majestic huge garden; greater and better than I have ever seen! My two companions said to me; Go up and I went up. The Prophet ﷺ added; So we ascended till we reached a city built of gold and silver bricks and we went to its gate and asked the gatekeeper to open the gate; and it was opened and we entered the city and found in it; men with one side of their bodies as handsome as the handsomest person you have ever seen; and the other side as ugly as the ugliest person you have ever seen. My two companions ordered those men to throw themselves into the river. Behold; there was a river flowing across the city ; and its water was like milk in whiteness. Those men went and threw themselves in it and then returned to us after the ugliness of their bodies had disappeared and they became in the best shape. The Prophet ﷺ further added; My two companions angels said to me; This place is the Eden Paradise; and that is your place. I raised up my sight; and behold; there I saw a palace like a white cloud! My two companions said to me; That palace is your place. I said to them; May Allah bless you both! Let me enter it. They replied; As for now; you will not enter it; but you shall enter it one day. I said to them; I have seen many wonders tonight. What does all that mean which I have seen? They replied; We will inform you: As for the first man you came upon whose head was being injured with the rock; he is the symbol of the one who studies the Quran and then neither recites it nor acts on its orders; and sleeps; neglecting the enjoined prayers. As for the man you came upon whose sides of mouth; nostrils and eyes were torn off from front to back; he is the symbol of the man who goes out of his house in the morning and tells so many lies that it spreads all over the world. And those naked men and women whom you saw in a construction resembling an oven; they are the adulterers and the adulteresses. And the man whom you saw swimming in the river and given a stone to swallow; is the eater of usury Riba. And the bad looking man whom you saw near the fire kindling it and going round it; is Malik; the gatekeeper of Hell. And the tall man whom you saw in the garden; is Abraham and the children around him are those children who die with AlFitra the Islamic Faith. The narrator added: Some Muslims asked the Prophet; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! What about the children of pagans? The Prophet ﷺ replied; And also the children of pagans. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1932Narrated Ali: Allah Messenger ﷺ sent me; AlZubair Bin AlAwam and Abu Marthad AlGhanawi; and all of us were horsemen; and he said; Proceed till you reach Rawdat Khakh; where there is a woman from the pagans carrying a letter sent by Hatib Bin Abi Baltaa to the pagans of Mecca. So we overtook her while she was proceeding on her camel at the same place as Allah Messenger ﷺ told us. We said to her Where is the letter which is with you? She said; I have no letter with me. So we made her camel kneel down and searched her mount baggage etc but could not find anything. My two companions said; We do not see any letter. I said; I know that Allah Messenger ﷺ did not tell a lie. By Allah; if you the lady do not bring out the letter; I will strip you of your clothes When she noticed that I was serious; she put her hand into the knot of her waist sheet; for she was tying a sheet round herself; and brought out the letter. So we proceeded to Allah Messenger ﷺ with the letter. The Prophet ﷺ said to Habib ; What made you o what you have done; O Hatib? Hatib replied; I have done nothing except that I believe in Allah and His Apostle; and I have not changed or altered my religion. But I wanted to do the favor to the people pagans of Mecca through which Allah might protect my family and my property; as there is none among your companions but has someone in Mecca through whom Allah protects his property against harm. The Prophet ﷺ said; Habib has told you the truth; so do not say to him anything but good. Umar Bin AlKhattab said; Verily he has betrayed Allah; His Apostle; and the believers! Allow me to chop his neck off! The Prophet ﷺ said; O Umar! What do you know; perhaps Allah looked upon the Badr warriors and said; Do whatever you like; for I have ordained that you will be in Paradise. I replied; Labbaik O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! And Sadaik! He proceeded for a while and then said; O Muadh! I said; Labbaik and Sadaik; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! He then proceeded for another while and said; O Muadh Bin Jabal! I replied; Labbaik; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ; and Sadaik! He said; Do you know what is Allah right on His slaves? I replied; Allah and His Apostle know better. He said; Allah right on his slaves is that they should worship Him and not worship anything besides Him. He then proceeded for a while; and again said; O Muadh Bin Jabal! I replied. Labbaik; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ; and Sadaik. He said; Do you know what is Allahs slaves peoples right on Allah if they did that? I replied; Allah and His Apostle know better. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2475Narrated Usama Bin Zaid: The Prophet ﷺ rode a donkey having a saddle with a Fadakiya velvet covering. He mounted me behind him and went to visit Saad Bin Ubada; and that had been before the battle of Badr. The Prophet ﷺ proceeded till he passed by a gathering in which Abdullah Bin Ubai Bin Salul was present; and that had been before Abdullah embraced Islam. The gathering comprised of Muslims; polytheists; i.e.; isolators and Jews. Abdullah Bin Rawaha was also present in that gathering. When dust raised by the donkey covered the gathering; Abdullah Bin Ubai covered his nose with his upper garment and said; Do not trouble us with dust. The Prophet ﷺ greeted them; stopped and dismounted. Then he invited them to Allah i.e.; to embrace Islam and recited to them some verses of the Holy Quran. On that; Abdullah Bin Ubai said; O man ! There is nothing better than what you say if it is true. Do not trouble us with it in our gathering; but return to your house; and if somebody comes to you; teach him there. On that Abdullah Bin Rawaha said; Yes; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Bring your teachings to our gathering; for we love that. So the Muslims; the pagans and the Jews started abusing each other till they were about to fight. The Prophet ﷺ kept on quietening them till they became calm. Thereupon the Prophet mounted his animal and proceeded till he entered upon Saad Bin Ubada. He said to him O Sad! Have you not heard what Abu Hubab i.e.; Abdullah Bin Ubai said? Saad said; O Allah Apostle! Excuse and forgive him; for Allah has given you what He has given you. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-319Narrated Samura Bin Jundab: Whenever the Prophet ﷺ finished the morning prayer; he would face us and ask; Who amongst you had a dream last night? So if anyone had seen a dream he would narrate it. The Prophet ﷺ would say: Ma shaa-llah An Arabic maxim meaning literally; What Allah wished; and it indicates a good omen. One day; he asked us whether anyone of us had seen a dream. We replied in the negative. The Prophet said; But I had seen a dream last night that two men came to me; caught hold of my hands; and took me to the Sacred Land Jerusalem. There; I saw a person sitting and another standing with an iron hook in his hand pushing it inside the mouth of the former till it reached the jawbone; and then tore off one side of his cheek; and then did the same with the other side; in the meantime the first side of his cheek became normal again and then he repeated the same operation again. I said; What is this? They told me to proceed on and we went on till we came to a man Lying flat on his back; and another man standing at his head carrying a stone or a piece of rock; and crushing the head of the Lying man; with that stone. Whenever he struck him; the stone rolled away. The man went to pick it up and by the time he returned to him; the crushed head had returned to its normal state and the man came back and struck him again and so on. I said; Who is this? They told me to proceed on; so we proceeded on and passed by a hole like an oven; with a narrow top and wide bottom; and the fire was kindling underneath that hole. Whenever the fire-flame went up; the people were lifted up to such an extent that they about to get out of it; and whenever the fire got quieter; the people went down into it; and there were naked men and women in it. I said; Who is this? They told me to proceed on. So we proceeded on till we reached a river of blood and a man was in it; and another man was standing at its bank with stones in front of him; facing the man standing in the river. Whenever the man in the river wanted to come out; the other one threw a stone in his mouth and caused him to retreat to his original position; and so whenever he wanted to come out the other would throw a stone in his mouth; and he would retreat to his original position. I asked; What is this? They told me to proceed on and we did so till we reached a well-flourished green garden having a huge tree and near its root was sitting an old man with some children. I saw Another man near the tree with fire in front of him and he was kindling it up. Then they i.e. my two companions made me climb up the tree and made me enter a house; better than which I have ever seen. In it were some old men and young men; women and children. Then they took me out of this house and made me climb up the tree and made me enter another house that was better and superior to the first containing old and young people. I said to them i.e. my two companions ; You have made me ramble all the night. Tell me all about that I have seen. They said; Yes. As for the one whose cheek you saw being torn away; he was a liar and he used to tell lies; and the people would report those lies on his authority till they spread all over the world. So; he will be punished like that till the Day of Resurrection. The one whose head you saw being crushed is the one whom Allah had given the knowledge of Quran i.e. knowing it by heart but he used to sleep at night i.e. he did not recite it then and did not use to act upon it i.e. upon its orders etc. by day; and so this punishment will go on till the Day of Resurrection. And those you saw in the hole like oven were adulterers those men and women who commit illegal sexual intercourse. And those you saw in the river of blood were those dealing in Riba usury. And the old man who was sitting at the base of the tree was Abraham and the little children around him were the offspring of the people. And the one who was kindling the fire was Malik; the gatekeeper of the Hell-fire. And the first house in which you have gone was the house of the common believers; and the second house was of the martyrs. I am Gabriel and this is Michael. Raise your head. I raised my head and saw a thing like a cloud over me. They said; That is your place. I said; Let me enter my place. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3801Narrated Anas: When the news of the arrival of the Prophet ﷺ at Medina reached Abdullah Bin Salam; he went to him to ask him about certain things; He said; I am going to ask you about three things which only a Prophet can answer: What is the first sign of The Hour? What is the first food which the people of Paradise will eat? Why does a child attract the similarity to his father or to his mother? The Prophet ﷺ replied; Gabriel has just now informed me of that. Ibn Salam said; He i.e. Gabriel is the enemy of the Jews amongst the angels. The Prophet ﷺ said; As for the first sign of The Hour; it will be a fire that will collect the people from the East to the West. As for the first meal which the people of Paradise will eat; it will be the caudate extra lobe of the fish-liver. As for the child; if the man discharge proceeds the woman discharge; the child attracts the similarity to the man; and if the woman discharge proceeds the mans; then the child attracts the similarity to the woman. On this; Abdullah Bin Salam said; I testify that None has the right to be worshipped except Allah; and that you are the Messenger of Allah. and added; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Jews invent such lies as make one astonished; so please ask them about me before they know about my conversion to I slam. The Jews came; and the Prophet ﷺ said; What kind of man is Abdullah Bin Salam among you? They replied; The best of us and the son of the best of us and the most superior among us; and the son of the most superior among us. The Prophet ﷺ said; What would you think if Abdullah Bin Salam should embrace Islam? They said; May Allah protect him from that. The Prophet ﷺ repeated his question and they gave the same answer. Then Abdullah came out to them and said; I testify that None has the right to be worshipped except Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah! On this; the Jews said; He is the most wicked among us and the son of the most wicked among us. So they degraded him. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3872Narrated Abu Jamra: Ibn Abbas said to us; Shall I tell you the story of Abu Dhar conversion to Islam? We said; Yes. He said; Abu Dhar said: I was a man from the tribe of Ghifar. We heard that a man had appeared in Mecca; claiming to be a Prophet. ! said to my brother; Go to that man and talk to him and bring me his news. He set out; met him and returned. I asked him; What is the news with you? He said; By Allah; I saw a man enjoining what is good and forbidding what is evil. I said to him; You have not satisfied me with this little information. So; I took a waterskin and a stick and proceeded towards Mecca. Neither did I know him i.e. the Prophet ﷺ ; nor did I like to ask anyone about him. I Kept on drinking Zam zam water and staying in the Masjid. Then Ali passed by me and said; It seems you are a stranger? I said; Yes. He proceeded to his house and I accompanied him. Neither did he ask me anything; nor did I tell him anything. Next morning I went to the Masjid to ask about the Prophet but no-one told me anything about him. Ali passed by me again and asked; Hasnt the man recognized his dwelling place yet I said; No. He said; Come along with me. He asked me; What is your business? What has brought you to this town? I said to him; If you keep my secret; I will tell you. He said; I will do; I said to him; We have heard that a person has appeared here; claiming to be a Prophet. I sent my brother to speak to him and when he returned; he did not bring a satisfactory report; so I thought of meeting him personally. Ali said to Abu Dhar ; You have reached your goal; I am going to him just now; so follow me; and wherever I enter; enter after me. If I should see someone who may cause you trouble; I will stand near a wall pretending to mend my shoes as a warning ; and you should go away then. Ali proceeded and I accompanied him till he entered a place; and I entered with him to the Prophet ﷺ to whom I said; Present the principles of Islam to me. When he did; I embraced Islam immediately. He said to me; O Abu Dhar! Keep your conversion as a secret and return to your town; and when you hear of our victory; return to us. I said; By H him Who has sent you with the Truth; I will announce my conversion to Islam publicly amongst them i.e. the infidels ; Abu Dhar went to the Masjid; where some people from Quraish were present; and said; O folk of Quraish ! I testify that None has the right to be worshipped except Allah; and I also testify that Muhammad is Allah Slave and His Apostle. Hearing that the Quraishi men said; Get at this Sabi i.e. Muslim ! They got up and beat me nearly to death. AlAbbas saw me and threw himself over me to protect me. He then faced them and said; Woe to you! You want to kill a man from the tribe of Ghifar; although your trade and your communications are through the territory of Ghifar? They therefore left me. The next morning I returned to the Masjid and said the same as I have said on the previous day. They again said; Get at this Sabi! I was treated in the same way as on the previous day; and again AlAbbas found me and threw himself over me to protect me and told them the same as he had said the day before. Dhu AlKhalasa was a house of an idol belonging to the tribe of Khatham called AlKaba AlYama-niya. So; I proceeded with one hundred and fifty cavalry men from the tribe of Ahmas; who were excellent knights. It happened that I could not sit firm on horses; so the Prophet ﷺ ; stroke me over my chest till I saw his finger-marks over my chest; he said; O Allah! Make him firm and make him a guiding and rightly guided man. Jarir proceeded towards that house; and dismantled and burnt it. Then he sent a messenger to Allah Apostle informing him of that. Jarir messenger said; By Him Who has sent you with the Truth; I did not come to you till I had left it like an emancipated or gabby camel i.e. completely marred and spoilt. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-4688Narrated AlBara Bin Azib: Allah Messenger ﷺ sent a group of Ansari men to kill Abu Rafi. One of them set out and entered their i.e. the enemies fort. That man said; I hid myself in a stable for their animals. They closed the fort gate. Later they lost a donkey of theirs; so they went out in its search. I; too; went out along with them; pretending to look for it. They found the donkey and entered their fort. And I; too; entered along with them. They closed the gate of the fort at night; and kept its keys in a small window where I could see them. When those people slept; I took the keys and opened the gate of the fort and came upon Abu Rafi and said; O Abu Rafi. When he replied me; I proceeded towards the voice and hit him. He shouted and I came out to come back; pretending to be a helper. I said; O Abu Rafi; changing the tone of my voice. He asked me; What do you want; woe to your mother? I asked him; What has happened to you? He said; I dont know who came to me and hit me. Then I drove my sword into his belly and pushed it forcibly till it touched the bone. Then I came out; filled with puzzlement and went towards a ladder of theirs in order to get down but I fell down and sprained my foot. I came to my companions and said; I will not leave till I hear the wailing of the women. So; I did not leave till I heard the women bewailing Abu Rafi; the merchant pf Hijaz. During the journey; the camel slipped and both the Prophet ﷺ and his wife fell down. Abu Talha the sub-narrator thinks that Anas said that Abu Talha jumped from his camel quickly said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! May Allah sacrifice me for your sake! Did you get hurt? The Prophet ﷺ replied;No; but take care of the lady. Abu Talha covered his face with his garment and proceeded towards her and covered her with his garment; and she got up. He then set right the condition of their camel and both of them i.e. the Prophet ﷺ and his wife rode and proceeded till they approached Medina. The Prophet ﷺ said; We are returning with repentance and worshipping and praising our Lord. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-5814Narrated Abdulrahman Bin Yazid: I went out with Abdullah ; to Mecca and when we proceeded to am he offered the two prayers the Maghrib and the Isha together; making the Adhan and Iqama separately for each prayer. He took his supper in between the two prayers. He offered the Fajr prayer as soon as the day dawned. Some people said; The day had dawned at the time of the prayer ; and others said; The day had not dawned. Abdullah then said; Allah Messenger ﷺ said; These two prayers have been shifted from their stated times at this place only at AlMuzdalifa ; first: The Maghrib and the Isha. So the people should not arrive at AlMuzdalifa till the time of the Isha prayer has become due. The second prayer is the morning prayer which is offered at this hour. Then Abdullah stayed there till it became a bit brighter. He then said; If the chief of the believers hastened onwards to Mina just now; then he had indeed followed the Sunna. I do not know which proceeded the other; his Abdullahs statement or the departure of Uthman. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6390Narrated AlBara Bin Azib: Allah Messenger ﷺ sent some men from the Ansar to kill Abu Rafi; the Jew; and appointed Abdullah Bin Atik as their leader. Abu Rafi used to hurt Allah Messenger ﷺ and help his enemies against him. He lived in his castle in the land of Hijaz. When those men approached the castle after the sun had set and the people had brought back their livestock to their homes. Abdullah bin Atik said to his companions; Sit down at your places. I am going; and I will try to play a trick on the gate-keeper so that I may enter the castle. So Abdullah proceeded towards the castle; and when he approached the gate; he covered himself with his clothes; pretending to answer the call of nature. The people had gone in; and the gate-keeper considered Abdullah as one of the castle servants addressing him saying; O Allah Servant! Enter if you wish; for I want to close the gate. Abdullah added in his story; So I went in the castle and hid myself. When the people got inside; the gate-keeper closed the gate and hung the keys on a fixed wooden peg. I got up and took the keys and opened the gate. Some people were staying late at night with Abu Rafi for a pleasant night chat in a room of his. When his companions of nightly entertainment went away; I ascended to him; and whenever I opened a door; I closed it from inside. I said to myself; Should these people discover my presence; they will not be able to catch me till I have killed him. So I reached him and found him sleeping in a dark house amidst his family; I could not recognize his location in the house. So I shouted; O Abu Rafi! Abu Rafi said; Who is it? I proceeded towards the source of the voice and hit him with the sword; and because of my perplexity; I could not kill him. He cried loudly; and I came out of the house and waited for a while; and then went to him again and said; What is this voice; O Abu Rafi? He said; Woe to your mother! A man in my house has hit me with a sword! I again hit him severely but I did not kill him. Then I drove the point of the sword into his belly and pressed it through till it touched his back; and I realized that I have killed him. I then opened the doors one by one till I reached the staircase; and thinking that I had reached the ground; I stepped out and fell down and got my leg broken in a moonlit night. I tied my leg with a turban and proceeded on till I sat at the gate; and said; I will not go out tonight till I know that I have killed him. So; when early in the morning the cock crowed; the announcer of the casualty stood on the wall saying; I announce the death of Abu Rafi; the merchant of Hijaz. Thereupon I went to my companions and said; Let us save ourselves; for Allah has killed Abu Rafi; So I along with my companions proceeded and went to the Prophet ﷺ and described the whole story to him. He said; Stretch out your broken leg. They proceeded till they approached his castle; whereupon Abdullah Bin Atik said to them; Wait here ; and in the meantime I will go and see. Abdullah said later on; I played a trick in order to enter the castle. By chance; they lost a donkey of theirs and came out carrying a flaming light to search for it. I was afraid that they would recognize me; so I covered my head and legs and pretended to answer the call to nature. They took their supper with Abu Rafi and had a chat till late at night. Then they went back to their homes. When the voices vanished and I no longer detected any movement; I came out. I had seen where the gate-keeper had kept the key of the castle in a hole in the wall. I took it and unlocked the gate of the castle; saying to myself; If these people should notice me; I will run away easily. Then I locked all the doors of their houses from outside while they were inside; and ascended to Abu Rafi by a staircase. I saw the house in complete darkness with its light off; and I could not know where the man was. So I called; O Abu Rafi! He replied; Who is it? I proceeded towards the voice and hit him. He cried loudly but my blow was futile. Then I came to him; pretending to help him; saying with a different tone of my voice; What is wrong with you; O Abu Rafi? He said; Are you not surprised? Woe on your mother! A man has come to me and hit me with a sword! So again I aimed at him and hit him; but the blow proved futile again; and on that Abu Rafi cried loudly and his wife got up. I came again and changed my voice as if I were a helper; and found Abu Rafi lying straight on his back; so I drove the sword into his belly and bent on it till I heard the sound of a bone break. Then I came out; filled with astonishment and went to the staircase to descend; but I fell down from it and got my leg dislocated. I bandaged it and went to my companions limping. I said to them ; Go and tell Allah Messenger ﷺ of this good news; but I will not leave this place till I hear the news of his i.e. Abu Rafis death. When dawn broke; an announcer of death got over the wall and announced; I convey to you the news of Abu Rafi death. Then I cut the meat into pieces and put it in an earthenware cooking pot; and returned to Allah Messenger ﷺ. My wife said; Do not disgrace me in front of Allah Apostle and those who are with him. So I went to him and said to him secretly; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! I have slaughtered a animal i.e. kid of ours; and we have ground a Sa of barley which was with us. So please come; you and another person along with you. The Prophet ﷺ raised his voice and said; O people of Trench ! Jabir has prepared a meal so let us go. Allah Messenger ﷺ said to me; Dont put down your earthenware meat pot from the fireplace or bake your dough till I come. So I came to my house and Allah Messenger ﷺ too; came; proceeding before the people. When I came to my wife; she said; May Allah do so-and-so to you. I said; I have told the Prophet ﷺ of what you said. Then she brought out to him i.e. the Prophet ﷺ the dough; and he spat in it and invoked for Allah Blessings in it. Then he proceeded towards our earthenware meat-pot and spat in it and invoked for Allah Blessings in it. Then he said to my wife. Call a lady-baker to bake along with you and keep on taking out scoops from your earthenware meat-pot; and do not put it down from its fireplace. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6524Narrated AlMiswar Bin Makhrama and Marwan Bin AlHakam: one of them said more than his friend : The Prophet ﷺ set out in the company of more than onethousand of his companions in the year of AlHudaibiya; and when he reached Dhu AlHulaifa; he garlanded his Hadi i.e. sacrificing animal ; assumed the state of Ihram for Umra from that place and sent a spy of his from Khuzia tribe. The Prophet ﷺ proceeded on till he reached a village called Ghadir AlAshtat. There his spy came and said; The Quraish infidels have collected a great number of people against you; and they have collected against you the Ethiopians; and they will fight with you; and will stop you from entering the Kaba and prevent you. The Prophet ﷺ said; O people! Give me your opinion. Do you recommend that I should destroy the families and offspring of those who want to stop us from the Kaba? If they should come to us for peace then Allah will destroy a spy from the pagans; or otherwise we will leave them in a miserable state. On that Abu Bakr said; O Allah Apostle! You have come with the intention of visiting this House i.e. Kaba and you do not want to kill or fight anybody. So proceed to it; and whoever should stop us from it; we will fight him. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6799Narrated Anas: Abdullah Bin Salam heard the news of the arrival of Allah Messenger ﷺ at Medina while he was on a farm collecting its fruits. So he came to the Prophet ﷺ and said; I will ask you about three things which nobody knows unless he be a prophet. Firstly; what is the first portent of the Hour? What is the first meal of the people of Paradise? And what makes a baby look like its father or mother?. The Prophet ﷺ said; Just now Gabriel has informed me about that. Abdullah said; Gabriel? The Prophet ﷺ said; Yes. Abdullah said; He; among the angels is the enemy of the Jews. On that the Prophet ﷺ recited this Holy Verse:- Whoever is an enemy to Gabriel let him die in his fury! for he has brought it i.e. Quran down to your heart by Allah permission. 2.97 Then he added; As for the first portent of the Hour; it will be a fire that will collect the people from the East to West. And as for the first meal of the people of Paradise; it will be the caudite i.e. extra lobe of the fish liver. And if a man discharge proceeded that of the woman; then the child resembles the father; and if the woman discharge proceeded that of the man; then the child resembles the mother. On hearing that; Abdullah said; I testify that None has the right to be worshipped but Allah; and that you are the Messenger of Allah; O; Allah Messenger ﷺ ; the Jews are liars; and if they should come to know that I have embraced Islam; they would accuse me of being a liar. In the meantime some Jews came to the Prophet and he asked them; What is Abdullah status amongst you? They replied; He is the best amongst us; and he is our chief and the son of our chief. The Prophet ﷺ said; What would you think if Abdullah Bin Salam embraced Islam? They replied; May Allah protect him from this! Then Abdullah came out and said; I testify that None has the right to be worshipped but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. The Jews then said; Abdullah is the worst of us and the son of the worst of us; and disparaged him. On that Abdullah said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6838Narrated Ibn Abbas: A man who wants to perform the Hajj from Mecca can perform the Tawaf around the Kaba as long as he is not in the state of Ihram till he assumes the Ihram for Hajj. Then; if he rides and proceeds to Arafat; he should take a Hadi i.e. animal for sacrifice ; either a camel or a cow or a sheep; whatever he can afford; but if he cannot afford it; he should fast for three days during the Hajj before the day of Arafat; but if the third day of his fasting happens to be the day of Arafat i.e. 9th of Dhu AlHijja then it is no sin for him to fast on it. Then he should proceed to Arafat and stay there from the time of the Asr prayer till darkness falls. Then the pilgrims should proceed from Arafat; and when they have departed from it; they reach Jam i.e. AlMuzdalifa where they ask Allah to help them to be righteous and dutiful to Him; and there they remember Allah greatly or say Takbir i.e. Allah is Greater and Tahlil i.e. None has the right to be worshipped but Allah repeatedly before dawn breaks. Then; after offering the morning Fajr prayer you should pass on to Mina for the people used to do so and Allah said:- Then depart from the place whence all the people depart. And ask for Allah Forgiveness. Truly! He Abu Qatada said: There proceeded on some of his Companions and Abu Qatada was one of them. He the Prophet said: You proceed along the coastline till you meet me. He Abu Qatada said: So they proceeded ahead of the Prophet of Allah ﷺ ; all of them had entered upon the state of Ihram; except Abu Qatada; he had not put on ihram. As they went on they saw a wild ass; and Abu Qatada attacked it and cut off its hind legs. They got down and ate its meat. They said: We ate meat In the state of Ihram. They carried the meat that was left of it. As they came to the Messenger of Allah way ﷺ they said: Messenger of Allah; we were in the state of Ihram whereas Abu Qatada was not. We saw a wild ass and Abu Qatada attacked it and cut off its hind legs. We got down and ate its meat and we thus ate the meat of a game while we were In the state of Ihram. We have carried to you what was left out of its meat. Thereupon he the holy Prophet said: Did anyone among you command him to hunt or point to him with anything to do so ? SahihMuslim-017-001-22839Aisha Allah be pleased with her reported: We proceeded with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ putting on the Ihram for Hajj during the months of Hajj and the night of Hajj till we encamped at Sarif. He the Holy Prophet went to his Companions and said: He who has no sacrificial animal with him; in his case I wish that he should perform Umra with this Ihram ; and he who has the sacrificial animal with him should not do it. So some of them performed Hajj whereas others who had no sacrificial animals with them did not do Hajj; but performed only Umra. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had a sacrificial animal with him and those too who could afford it performed Hajj. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to me i. e. Aisha while I was weeping; and he said: What makes you weep? I said: I heard your talk with Companions about Umra. He said: What has happened to you? I said: I do not observe prayer due to the monthly period ; whereupon he said: It would not harm you; you should perform during this time the rituals of Hajj which you can do outside the House. Maybe Allah will compensate you for this. You are one among the daughters of Adam and Allah has ordained for you as He has ordained for them. So I proceeded on with the rituals of Hajj till we came to Mina. I washed myself and then circumambulated the House; and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ encamped at Muhassab and called; Abdulrahman Bin Abu Bakr. and said: Take out your sister from the precincts of the Kaba in order to put on Ihram for Umra and circumambulate the House. and I shall wait for you here. She said: So I went out and put on Ihram and then circumambulated the House; and ran between AlSafa and AlMarwa; and then we came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he was in his house in the middle of the night. He said: Have you completed your rituals ? I said: Yes. He then announced to his Companions to march on. SahihMuslim-017-001-23128Musa Bin Salama AlHudhali reported: I and Sinan Bin Salama proceeded to Mecca to perform Umra. Sinan had a sacrificial camel with him which he was driving. The camel stopped in the way being completely exhausted and this state of it made him Sinan helpless. He thought if it stops proceeding further how he would be able to take it; along with him and said: I would definitely find out the religious verdict about it. I moved on in the morning and as we encamped at AlBatha; Sinan said: Come along with me to Ibn Abbis Allah be pleased with them so that we should narrate to him this incident ; and he Sinan reported to him the incident of the sacrificial camel. He Ibn Abbas said: You have referred the matter to the well informed person. Now listen Allah Messenger ﷺ sent sixteen sacrificial camels with a man whom he put in change of them. SahihMuslim-017-001-23248Abu Saeed Maula AlMahri reported that they were hard pressed by the distress and hardship of Medina; and he come to AbU Saeed AlKhudri and said to him: I have a large family to support and we are enduring hardships; I have; therefore; made up my mind to take my family to some fertile land. Thereupon Abu Saeed said: Dont do that; stick to Medina; for we have come out with Allah Apostle ﷺ ; and I think that he also said until we reached Usfan; and he the Prophet along with his Companions stayed there for some nights. There the people said: By Allah; we are lying here idle; whereas our children are unprotected behind us; and we do not feel secure about them. This apprehension of theirs reached Allah Apostle ﷺ ; whereupon he said: What is this matter concerning you that has reached me? I do not retain how he said it; whether he said like this: By Him in the name of Whom I take oath; or he said like this: By Him in Whose Hand is my life; I made up my mind or if you like I do not retain what word did he actually say ; I should command my camel to proceed and not to let it halt until it comes to Medina and then said: Ibrahim declared Mecca as the sacred territory and it became sacred; and I declare Medina as the sacred territory-the area between the two mountains Air and Uhud. Thus no blood is to be shed within its bounds and no weapon is to be carried for fighting; and the leaves of the trees there should not be beaten off except for fodder. SahihMuslim-017-001-23873Hudhaifa reported: I prayed with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ one night and he started reciting AlBaqara. I thought that he would bow at the end of one hundred verses; but he proceeded on; I then thought that he would perhaps recite the whole surah in a rakah; but he proceeded and I thought he would perhaps bow on completing this surah. He then started AlNisa; and recited it; he then started Ali-Imran and recited leisurely. And when he recited the verses which referred to the Glory of Allah; he glorified by saying Subhan Allah-Glory to my Lord the Great ; and when he recited the verses which tell how the Lord is to be begged; he the Holy Prophet would then beg from Him ; and when he recited the verses dealing with protection from the Lord; he sought His protection and would then bow and say: Glory be to my Mighty Lord; his bowing lasted about the same length of time as his standing and then on returning to the standing posture after ruku he would say: Allah listened to him who praised Him; and he would then stand about the same length of time as he had spent in bowing. He would then prostrate himself and say: Glory be to my Lord most High; and his prostration lasted nearly the same length of time as his standing. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-29723Narrated Wathilah Ibn AlAsqa: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ announced to go on expedition for Tabuk. I went to my family and then proceeded on journey. The vanguard of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had already proceeded. So I began to announce loudly in Medina: Is there anyone who takes a man on his ride; and he will get his share from the booty? An old man from the Ansar Helpers spoke loudly: We shall have his share if we take him with us on our mount by turns; and he will have his meal with us. I said: Yes. He said: So go on journey with Allah blessing. I then proceeded along with my best companion and Allah gave us booty. Some camels were given to me as my share of booty. I drove them till I reached him. He came out and sat on the rear part of the saddle of his camel. He then said: Drive them backward. He again said: Drive them forward. He then said: I find your camels very gentle. He said: This is your booty which I stipulated for you.
