Hadith PageArabic TextEnglish TranslationBook and Chapter
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1186Narrated Zahdam: There were good relations and brotherhood between this tribe of Jurm and the Ashariyin. Once; while we were sitting with Abu Mousa AlAshari; there was brought to him a meal which contained chicken meat; and there was sitting beside him; a man from the tribe of Bani Taim Allah who looked like one of the Mawali. Abu Mousa invited the man to eat but the man said; I have seen chicken eating some dirty things; and I have taken an oath not to eat chicken. Abu Mousa said to him; Come along; let me tell you something in this regard. Once I went to the Prophet ﷺ with a few men from Ashariyin and we asked him for mounts. The Prophet ﷺ said; By Allah; I will not mount you on anything; besides I do not have anything to mount you on. Then a few camels from the war booty were brought to the Prophet; and he asked about us; saying; Where are the group of Ashariyin? So he ordered for five fat camels to be given to us and then we set out. We said; What have we done? Allah Messenger ﷺ took an oath that he would not give us anything to ride and that he had nothing for us to ride; yet he provided us with mounts. We made Allah Messenger ﷺ forget his oath! By Allah; we will never be successful. So we returned to him and reminded him of his oath. He said; I have not provided you with the mount; but Allah has done so. By Allah; I may take an oath to do something; but on finding something else which is better; I do that which is better and make the expiation for my oath. The Chapter on Journeys And Travel And Oaths in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on While Allah has created you and what you make in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1798Narrated AlHarith Bin Suwaid: Abdullah Bin Masud related to us two narrations: One from the Prophet ﷺ and the other from himself; saying: A believer sees his sins as if he were sitting under a mountain which; he is afraid; may fall on him; whereas the wicked person considers his sins as flies passing over his nose and he just drives them away like this. Abu Shihab the sub-narrator moved his hand over his nose in illustration. Ibn Masud added : Allah Messenger ﷺ said; Allah is more pleased with the repentance of His slave than a man who encamps at a place where his life is jeopardized; but he has his riding beast carrying his food and water. He then rests his head and sleeps for a short while and wakes to find his riding beast gone. He starts looking for it and suffers from severe heat and thirst or what Allah wished him to suffer from. He then says; I will go back to my place. He returns and sleeps again; and then getting up ; he raises his head to find his riding beast standing beside him.The Chapter on Forgiveness And Repents in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on AtTauba in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1853Narrated Anas Bin Malik: The Prophet ﷺ said to Abu Talha ; Choose one of your boys to serve me. So Abu Talha took me to serve the Prophet ﷺ by giving me a ride behind him on his camel. So I used to serve Allah Messenger ﷺ whenever he stayed somewhere. I used to hear him saying; O Allah! I seek refuge with you Allah from worries care and grief; from incapacity and laziness; from miserliness and cowardice; from being heavily in debt and from being overpowered by other men. I kept on serving him till he returned from the battle of Khaibar. He then brought Safiya; the daughter of Huyay whom he had got from the booty. I saw him making a kind of cushion with a cloak or a garment for her. He then let her ride behind him. When we reached a place called AlSahba; he prepared a special meal called Hais; and asked me to invite the men who came and ate; and that was the marriage banquet given on the consummation of his marriage to her. Then he proceeded till the mountain of Uhud appeared; whereupon he said; This mountain loves us and we love it. When he approached Medina; he said; O Allah! I make the land between its i.e.; Medinas two mountains a sanctuary; as the prophet Abraham made Mecca a sanctuary. O Allah! During one of his journeys the lot fell on Aisha and Hafsa. When night fell the Prophet ﷺ would ride beside Aisha and talk with her. One night Hafsa said to Aisha; Wont you ride my camel tonight and I ride yours; so that you may see me and I see you in new situation ? Aisha said; Yes; I agree. So Aisha rode; and then the Prophet ﷺ came towards Aisha camel on which Hafsa was riding. He greeted Hafsa and then proceeded beside her till they dismounted on the way. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3611Narrated Asma bint Abu Bakr: When AlZubair married me; he had no real property or any slave or anything else except a camel which drew water from the well; and his horse. I used to feed his horse with fodder and drew water and sew the bucket for drawing it; and prepare the dough; but I did not know how to bake bread. So our Ansari neighbors used to bake bread for me; and they were honorable ladies. I used to carry the date stones on my head from AlZubair land given to him by Allah Messenger ﷺ and this land was two third Farsakh about two miles from my house. One day; while I was coming with the date stones on my head; I met Allah Messenger ﷺ along with some Ansari people. He called me and then; directing his camel to kneel down said; Ikh! Ikh! so as to make me ride behind him on his camel. I felt shy to travel with the men and remembered AlZubair and his sense of Ghira; as he was one of those people who had the greatest sense of Ghira. Allah Messenger ﷺ noticed that I felt shy; so he proceeded. I came to AlZubair and said; I met Allah Messenger ﷺ while I was carrying a load of date stones on my head; and he had some companions with him. He made his camel kneel down so that I might ride; but I felt shy in his presence and remembered your sense of Ghira See the glossary. On that AlZubair said; By Allah; your carrying the date stones and you being seen by the Prophet ﷺ in such a state is more shameful to me than your riding with him. I continued serving in this way till Abu Bakr sent me a servant to look after the horse; whereupon I felt as if he had set me free. The Chapter on Good Manners And Ghira in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on AlGhaira ie honour prestige or selfrespect in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3774Narrated Anas Bin Malik: Allah Messenger ﷺ arrived at Medina with Abu Bakr; riding behind him on the same camel. Abu Bakr was an elderly man known to the people; while Allah Messenger ﷺ was a youth that was unknown. Thus; if a man met Abu Bakr; he would say; O Abu Bakr! Who is this man in front of you? Abu Bakr would say; This man shows me the Way; One would think that Abu Bakr meant the road; while in fact; Abu Bakr meant the way of virtue and good. Then Abu Bakr looked behind and saw a horse-rider pursuing them. He said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! This is a horse-rider pursuing us. The Prophet ﷺ looked behind and said; O Allah! Cause him to fall down. So the horse threw him down and got up neighing. After that the rider; Suraqa said; O Allah Prophet! Order me whatever you want. The Prophet said; Stay where you are and do not allow anybody to reach us. So; in the first part of the day Suraqa was an enemy of Allah Prophet and in the last part of it; he was a protector. Then Allah Apostle alighted by the side of the AlHarra and sent a message to the Ansar; and they came to Allah Prophet and Abu Bakr; and having greeted them; they said; Ride your camels safe and obeyed. Allah Messenger ﷺ and Abu Bakr rode and the Ansar; carrying their arms; surrounded them. The news that Allah Prophet had come circulated in Medina. The people came out and were eagerly looking and saying Allah Prophet has come! Allah Prophet has come! So the Prophet ﷺ went on till he alighted near the house of Abu Ayoub. While the Prophet ﷺ was speaking with the family members of Abu Ayoub ; Abdullah Bin Salam heard the news of his arrival while he himself was picking the dates for his family from his family garden. He hurried to the Prophet ﷺ carrying the dates which he had collected for his family from the garden. He listened to Allah Prophet and then went home. Then Allah Prophet said; Which is the nearest of the houses of our kith and kin? Abu Ayoub replied; Mine; O Allah Prophet! This is my house and this is my gate. The Prophet ﷺ said; Go and prepare a place for our midday rest. Abu Ayoub said; Get up both of you with Allah Blessings. So when Allah Prophet went into the house; Abdullah Bin Salam came and said I testify that you i.e. Muhammad are Apostle of Allah and that you have come with the Truth. The Jews know well that I am their chief and the son of their chief and the most learned amongst them and the son of the most learned amongst them. So send for them i.e. Jews and ask them about me before they know that I have embraced Islam; for if they know that they will say about me things which are not correct. So Allah Messenger ﷺ sent for them; and they came and entered. Allah Messenger ﷺ said to them; O the group of Jews! Woe to you: be afraid of Allah. By Allah except Whom none has the right to be worshipped; you people know for certain; that I am Apostle of Allah and that I have come to you with the Truth; so embrace Islam. The Jews replied; We do not know this. So they said this to the Prophet and he repeated it thrice. Then he said; What sort of a man is Abdullah Bin Salam amongst you? They said; He is our chief and the son of our chief and the most learned man; and the son of the most learned amongst us. He said; What would you think if he should embrace Islam? They said; Allah forbid! He can not embrace Islam. He said; What would you think if he should embrace Islam? They said; Allah forbid! He can not embrace Islam. He said; What would you think if he should embrace Islam? They said; Allah forbid! He can not embrace Islam. He said; O Ibn Salam! Come out to them. He came out and said; O the group of Jews! Be afraid of Allah except Whom none has the right to be worshipped. You know for certain that he is Apostle of Allah and that he has brought a True Religion! They said; You tell a lie. I sold it and stipulated that I should ride it to my house. When we reached Medina I took that camel to the Prophet ﷺ and he gave me its price. I returned home but he sent for me and when I went to him he said; I will not take your camel. Take your camel as a gift for you. So the Prophet ﷺ invoked Allah for her and went to sleep again. He did the same i.e. got up and told his dream and Um Haran repeated her question and he gave the same reply. She said; Invoke Allah to make me one of them. He said; You are among the first batch. The Prophet ﷺ asked me; What is wrong with the camel? I replied; It has got tired. So. Allah Messenger ﷺ came from behind it and rebuked it and prayed for it so it started surpassing the other camels and going ahead of them. Then he asked me; How do you find your camel now ? I replied; I find it quite well; now as it has received your blessings. He said; Will you sell it to me? I felt shy to refuse his offer though it was the only camel for irrigation we had. So; I said; Yes. He said; Sell it to me then. I sold it to him on the condition that I should keep on riding it till I reached Medina. Then I said; O Allah Apostle! I am a bridegroom; and requested him to allow me to go home. He allowed me; and I set out for Medina before the people till I reached Medina; where I met my uncle; who asked me about the camel and I informed him all about it and he blamed me for that. When I took the permission of Allah Messenger ﷺ he asked me whether I had married a virgin or a matron and I replied that I had married a matron. He said; Why hadnt you married a virgin who would have played with you; and you would have played with her? I replied; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! My father died or was martyred and I have some young sisters; so I felt it not proper that I should marry a young girl like them who would neither teach them manners nor serve them. The Prophet ﷺ said to me ; Classify your dates into their different kinds: Adha Bin Zaid; Lean and Ajwa; each kind alone and call all the creditors and wait till I come to you. I did so and the Prophet ﷺ came and sat beside the dates and started measuring to each his due till he paid them fully; and the amount of dates remained as it was before; as if he had not touched them. On another occasion I took part in one of Ghazawat among with the Prophet ﷺ and I was riding one of our camels. The camel got tired and was lagging behind the others. SahihMuslim-017-001-17524Abu Mousa AlAshari reported: I came to Allah Apostle ﷺ along with a group of Asharites requesting to give us a mount. He the Holy Prophet said: By Allah; I cannot provide you with a mount; and there is nothing with me which I should give you as a ride. He the narrator said: We stayed there as long as Allah willed. Then there were brought to him to the Holy Prophet camels. He the Holy Prophet then ordered to give us three white humped camels; We started and said or some of us said to the others : Allah will not bless us. We came to Allah Messenger ﷺ begging him to provide us with riding camels. He swore that he could not provide us with a mount; but later on he provided us with that. They some of the Prophet Companions came and informed him about this rankling of theirs ; whereupon he said: It was not I who provided you with a mount; but Allah has provided you with that. So far as I am concerned; by Allah; if He so wills; I would not swear; but if; later on; I would see better than it; I would break the vow and expiate it and do that which is better. The Chapter on Journeys And Travel And Oaths in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 3 in Sahih Muslim

He the Holy Prophet said: By Allah; I cannot provide you with anything to ride. And it so happened that he was at that time much perturbed. I little knew of it; so I came back with a heavy heart on account of the refusal of Allah Messenger ﷺ ; and the fear that Allah Messenger ﷺ might have some feelings against me. I returned to my friends and informed them about what Allah Messenger ﷺ had said. I had hardly stayed for a little that I heard Bilal calling: Abdullah Bin Qais. I responded to his call. He said: Hasten to Allah Messenger ﷺ ; he is calling you; When I came to the Prophet ﷺ he said: Take this pair; this pair; and this pair i. e. six camels which he had bought from Sad ; and take them to y; our friends and say: Verily Allah or he said: Verily Allah Messenger ﷺ has provided you with these animals. So ride upon them. Abu Mousa said: I went along with them to my friends and said: Verily Allah messenger ﷺ has provided you with these animals for riding; but by Allah; I shall not leave you until some of you go along with me to him who had heard the talk of Allah Messenger ﷺ then I asked him for you; and his refusal for the first time; and then his granting them to me subsequently; so you should not think that I narrated to you something which he did not say. They said to me: By Allah; in our opinion you are certainly truthful; and we would do as you like. So Abu Mousa went along withsome of the menfrom them until they came to those who had heard the words of Allah Messenger may; ﷺ and his refusal to provide them with animals ; and subsequently his granting the animals to them; and they narrated to them exactly as Abu Masa had narrated to them. The Chapter on Military Expedition And Almadinah in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 3 in Sahih Muslim

His complexion was red having the resemblance of a slave. He said to him: Come and join me in food. He showed reluctance. He Abu Masa said: Come on; for I saw Allah Messenger ﷺ eating it fowl meat ; whereupon that person said: I saw it eating something of filth and rubbish and I found it repugnant and took an oath that I would never eat that. He Abu Muds said: Come; so that I would narrate to you about that the incident pertaining to vow. And he narrated thus : I came to Allah Messenger ﷺ along with a group of people belonging to the tribe of Ashari; asking him to provide us with riding camels. He the Holy Prophet said: By Allah; I cannot provide you with riding animals. And there is nothing with me with which I can provide you a mount. We stayed for some time there as Allah willed; and there was brought to Allah Messenger ﷺ booty of camels. He called us and commanded that we should be given five white humped camels. As we were about to go back; some of us said to the other: As we made Allah Messenger ﷺ forget oath; there would be no blessing for us in his gift. We went back to him and said: Allah Messenger; we came to you to provide us with riding animals and you took an oath that you would never equip us with mounts and then you have provided us with the riding beasts Allah Messenger; have you forgotten? Thereupon he said: I swear by Allah that if Allah so wills; I shall not swear an oath; and then consider something else to be better than it without making atonement for my oath and doing the thing that is better. SahihMuslim-017-001-17895It has been reported on the authority of Anas Bin Malik who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent Busaisah as a scout to see what the caravan of Abu Sufyan was doing. He came back and met the Prophet in his house where there was nobody except myself and the Messenger of Allah. I do not remember whether he Hadrat Anas made an exception of some wives of the Prophet ﷺ or not and told him the news of the caravan. Having heard the news ; the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out hurriedly ; spoke to the people and said: We are in need of men ; whoever has an animal to ride upon ready with him should ride with us. People began to ask him permission for bringing their riding animals which were grazing on the hillocks near Medina. He said: No. I want only those who have their riding animals ready. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his Companions proceeded towards Badr and reached there forestalling the polytheists of Mecca. When the polytheists also reached there; the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: None of you should step forward to do anything unless I am ahead of him. When he had collected his property of camels; I found that a camel in her second year was due from him. I said to him: Pay a camel in her second year; for she is to be paid as sadaqah zakat by you. He said: That one is not worthy of milking and riding. Here is another camel which is young; grand and fat. So take it. I said to him: I shall not take an animal for which I have not been commanded. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ is here near to you. If you like; go to him; and present to him what you presented to me. Do that; if he accepts it from you; I shall accept it; if he rejects it; I shall reject it. He said: I shall do it. He accompanied me and took with him the camel which he had presented to me. We came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said to him: Prophet of Allah; your messenger came to me to collect zakat on my property. By Allah; neither the Messenger of Allah nor his messenger has ever seen my property before. I gathered my property camels ; and he estimated that a camel in her second year would be payable by me. But that has neither milk nor is it worth riding. So I presented to him a grand young camel for acceptance as zakat. But he has refused to take her. Look; she is here; I have brought her to you; Messenger of Allah. Take her. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: That is what is due from you. If you give voluntarily a better animal Allah will give a reward to you for it. We accept her from you. She is here; Messenger of Allah; I have brought her to you. So take her. Once he intended to go to the desert and he sent to me a camel from the camel of sadaqah which had not been used for riding so far. He said to me: Aisha! show gentleness; for if gentleness is found in anything; it beautifies it and when it is taken out from anything it damages it Ibn AlSabbah said in his version: Muharramah means a mount which has not been used for riding. The Chapter on Arab Tribes, The Desert And Bedouins in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Regarding gentleness in Sunan Abu Dawoud
SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-26828Narrated Jundub: A desert Arab came and making his camel kneel and tethering it; entered the Masjid and prayed behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. When The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had given the salutation; he went to his riding beast and; after untethering and riding it; he called out: O Allah; show mercy to me and to Muhammad and associate no one else in Thy mercy to us. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said: Do you think that he or his camel is farther astray? Did you not listen to what he said? SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-27128Narrated Qays Ibn Sad: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to visit us in our house; and said: Peace and Allah mercy be upon you! Saad returned the greeting in a lower tone. Qays said: I said: Do you not grant permission to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to enter? He said: Leave him; he will give us many greetings. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said: Peace and Allah mercy be upon you! Saad again responded in a lower tone. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ again said: Peace and Allah mercy be upon you! So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ went away. Saad went after him and said: Messenger of Allah! I heard your greetings and responded in a lower tone so that you might give us many greetings. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ returned with him. Saad then offered to prepare bath-water for him; and he took a bath. He then gave him a long wrapper dyed with saffron or wars and he wrapped himself in it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then raised his hands and said: O Allah; bestow Thy blessings and mercy on the family of Saad Ibn Ubadah! The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then shared their meals. When he intended to return; Saad brought near him an ass which was covered with a blanket. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ mounted it. Saad said: O Qays; accompany the Messenger of Allah. Qays said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me: Ride. But I refused. He again said: Either ride or go away. He said: So I went away. I passed in front of a part of the row of worshippers ; and dismounting left my ass for grazing in the pasture; and I joined the row; and no one objected to that.Abu Dawud said: These are the words of AlQanabi; and are complete. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-29537Anas Bin Malik may Allaah be pleased with him said Umm Haram; daughter of Milhan; sister of Umm Sulaim; narrated to me that the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ took a mid day nap with them. He then awoke laughing. She said I asked the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ ; what made you laugh? He replied I saw some people who ere sailing in the midst of the sea like kings on thrones. She said I said the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ beseech Allaah that He may put me among them. He replied You will be among them. She said He then slept and awoke laughing. She said I asked the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ ; what made you laugh? He replied as he said in the first reply. She said I said the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ beseech Allaah that HE may put me amongst them. He replied You will be among the first. Then Ubadah Bin AlSamit married her and sailed on the sea on an expedition and took her with him. When he returned; a riding beast was brought near her to ride; but it threw her down. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-29560Narrated Uqbah Ibn Amir: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: Allah; Most High; will cause three persons to enter Paradise for one arrow: the maker when he has a good motive in making it; the one who shoots it; and the one who hands it; so shoot and ride; but your shooting is dearer to me than your riding. Everything with which a man amuses himself is vain except three things : a man training of his horse; his playing with his wife; and his shooting with his bow and arrow. MuwataMalik-017-001-35180Yahya related to me from Malik that the best of what he had heard about horses; mules; and donkeys was that they were not eaten because Allah; the Blessed; the Exalted;said; And horses; and mules and asses; for you to ride; and as an adornment. Surat 16 ayat 8. He said; may He be Blessed and Exalted; In cattle; some of them you ride; and some of them you eat. Surat 6 ayat 79. He said; the Blessed; the Exalted; Mention Allah name over what He has provided you of cattle; and eat of them and feed the beggar Alqani and the suppliant Almutarr. Surat 22 ayat 34. Malik said Allah mentioned horses; mules; and donkeys for riding and adornment; and He mentioned cattle for riding and eating. Malik said; Alqani also means the poor. The Chapter on Recitation Of Ayat in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Marriage in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35392Yahya related to me from Malik that Urwa Ibn Udhayna AlLaythi said; I went out with my grandmother who had vowed to walk to the House of Allah. When we had gone part of the way; she could not go on. I sent one of her mawlas to question Abdullah Ibn Umar and I went with him. He asked Abdullah Ibn Umar; and Abdullah Ibn Umar said to him; Take her and let her ride; and when she has the strength let her ride back; and start to walk from the place from which she was unable to go on.~ Yahya said that he had heard Malik say; I think that she must sacrifice an animal. Yahya related to me from Malik that he had heard that Said Ibn AlMusayab and Abu Salama Ibn Abdulrahman said the same as Abdullah Ibn Umar. The Chapter on Mother And Ansar in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Jihad in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35393Yahya related to me from Malik that Yahya Ibn Said said; I vowed to walk; but I was struck by a pain in the kidney; so I rode until I came to Makka. I questioned Ata Ibn Abi Rabah and others; and they said; You must sacrifice an animal. When I came to Madina I questioned the ulama there; and they ordered me to walk again from the place from which I was unable to go on. So I walked. Yahya said that he had heard Malik say; What is done among us regarding someone who makes a vow to walk to the House of Allah; and then cannot do it and so rides; is that he must return and walk from the place from which he was unable to go on. If he cannot walk; he should walk what he can and then ride; and he must sacrifice a camel; a cow; or a sheep if that is all that he can find. Malik; when asked about a man who said to another; I will carry you to the House of Allah; answered; If he intended to carry him on his shoulder; by that he meant hardship and exhaustion to himself; and he does not have to do that. Let him walk by foot and make sacrifice. If he did not intend anything; let him do hajj and ride; and take the man on hajj with him. That is because he said; I will carry you to the house of Allah. If the man refuses to do hajj with him; then there is nothing against him; and what is demanded of him is cancelled. Yahya said that Malik was asked whether it was enough for a man who had made a vow that he would walk to the House of Allah a certain large number of times; or who had forbidden himself from talking to his father and brother; if he did not fulfil a certain vow; and he had taken upon himself; by the oath; something which he was incapable of fulfilling in his lifetime; even though he were to try every year; to fulfil only one or a smaller number of vows by Allah? Malik said; The only satisfaction for that that I know is fulfilling what he has obliged himself to do. Let him walk for as long as he is able and draw near Allah the Exalted by what he can of good. The Chapter on Hands And Obligations in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Jihad in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35417Yahya related to me from Malik from Yahya Ibn Said that Abu Bakr AlSiddiq was sending armies to AlSham. He went for a walk with Yazid Ibn Abi Sufyan who was the commander of one of the battalions. It is claimed that Yazid said to Abu Bakr; Will you ride or shall I get down? Abu Bakrsaid; I will not ride and you will not get down. I intend these steps of mine to be in the way of Allah. Then Abu Bakr advised Yazid; You will find a people who claim to have totally given themselves to Allah. Leave them to what they claim to have given themselves. You will find a people who have shaved the middle of their heads; strike what they have shaved with the sword. I advise you ten things: Do not kill women or children or an aged; infirm person. Do not cut down fruit-bearing trees. Do not destroy an inhabited place. Do not slaughter sheep or camels except for food. Do not burn bees and do not scatter them. Do not steal from the booty; and do not be cowardly. The Chapter on Live Stock And Charity in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Jihad in Muwata Malik

MuwataMalik-017-001-35911Malik was asked about whether a man could stand at Arafa; or at Muzdalifa; or stone the Jamras; or do say between Safa and Marwa if he was not in Ablution; and he said; Every practice in the hajj that a menstruating woman can take part in can be taken part in by a man who is not in Ablution and there is nothing due from him for that. However; it is better for him to be in Ablution for all those things; and he should not make a general practice of it. Malik was asked whether a man who was riding should get down to do the standing at Arafa or if he could stand while mounted; and he said; He can stand while mounted; unless he or his riding beast have an illness; in which case Allah is the one who most often accepts an excuse. The Chapter on Ablution And Eating Meat And Drinks in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Business Transactions in Muwata Malik
