Abdulrahman Bin Auf reported Allah Messenger ﷺ as saying: There is no transitive disease; but he is also reported to have said: A sick person should not be taken to one who is healthy. Abu Salama said that Abu Huraira used to narrate these two different ahadith from Allah Messenger ﷺ ; but afterwards Abu Huraira became silent on these words: There is no transitive disease; but he stuck to this that the sick person should not be taken to one who is healthy. Harith Bin Abu Dhubab and he was the first cousin of Abu Huraira said: Abu Huraira; I used to hear from you that you narrated to us along with this hadith and the other one also there is no transitive disease ; but now you observe silence about it. You used to say that Allah Messenger ﷺ said: There is no transitive disease. Abu Huraira denied having any knowledge of that; but he said that the sick camel should not be taken to the healthy one. Harith; however; did not agree with him; which irritated Abu Huraira and he said to him some words in the Abyssinian language. He said to Harith: Do you know what I said to you? He said: No. Abu Huraira said: I simply denied having said it. Abu Salama sad: By my life; Abu Huraira in fact used to report Allah Messenger ﷺ having said: There is no transitive disease. SunanAlNasai-017-001-11706It was narrated that Ubaidullah Bin Abdullah said: I entered upon Aisha and said: Will you not tell me about the sickness of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ? She said: When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; became seriously ill; he said: Have the people prayed? We said: No; they are waiting for you; 0 Messenger of Allah ﷺ He said: Put some water in a tub for me. We did that and he performed Ghusl; then he tried to get up but he fainted. Then he came to us and said: Have the people prayed? We said: No; they are waiting for you; 0 Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said: Put some water in a tub for me. We did that and he performed Ghusl; then he tried to get up but he fainted. Then for the third time he said the same thing. She said: The people were in the Masjid; waiting for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to lead the prayer. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent word to Abu Bakr; telling him to lead the people in prayer; so the messenger came to him and said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ is telling you to lead the people in prayer. Abu Bakr was a tenderhearted man; he said: 0 Umar. lead the in prayer. But Umar said: You have more right to that. So Abu Bakr led them in prayer during those days. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ felt a little better; he came with the help of two men; one of whom was AlAbbas; to pray Zuhr. When Abu Bakr saw him; he wanted to step back; but the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gestured to him not to step back. He told them the two men to seat him beside Abu Bakr; and Abu Bakr started to pray standing. The people were following the prayer of Abu Bakr and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was praying sitting. I Ubaidullah entered upon Ibn Abbas and said Shall I not tell you what Aisha narrated to me about the sickness of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ? He said: Yes. So I told him and he did not deny any of it; but he said: Did she tell you the name of the man who was with AlAbbas? Malik said; A person doing itikaf should not carry out obligations of his; nor leave the Masjid for them; nor should he help anyone. He should only leave the Masjid to relieve himself. If he were able to go out to do things for people; visiting the sick; praying over the dead and following funeral processions would be the things with the most claim on his coming out. MuwataMalik-017-001-35471Malik said; There is no harm in someone who is in itikaf entering into a marriage contract as long as there is no physical relationship. A woman in itikaf may also be betrothed as long as there is no physical relationship. What is haram for someone in itikaf in relation to his womenfolk during the day is haram for him during the night. Yahya said that Ziyad said that Malik said; It is not halal for a man to have intercourse with his wife while he is in itikaf; nor for him to take pleasure in her by kissing her; or whatever. However; I have not heard anyone disapproving of a man; or woman; in itikaf getting married as long as there is no physical relationship. Marriage is not disapproved of for someone fasting. There is; however; a distinction between the marriage of someone in itikaf and that of someone who is muhrim; in that some one who is muhrim can eat; drink; visit the sick and attend funerals; but cannot put on perfume; whilst a man or woman in itikaf can put on oil and perfume and groom their hair; but cannot attend funerals or pray over the dead or visit the sick. Thus their situations with regard to marriage are different. MuwataMalik-017-001-35523Yahya said that he heard Malik say; What I have heard from the people of knowledge is that if a man succumbs to an illness which makes fasting very difficult for him and exhausts him and wears him out; he can break his fast. This is the same as with a sick man in the prayer; who finds standing to be too difficult and exhausting; and Allah knows better than the slave that it is an excuse for him and that it really cannot be described. If the man is in such a condition he prays sitting; and the deen of Allah is ease. Allah has permitted a traveller to break the fast when travelling; and he has more strength for fasting than a sick man. Yahya said that Malik was asked whether some one else could throw the stones for a child or a sick man and he said; Yes; and a sick man should inquire as to when the stones will be thrown for him and then say the takbir while he is in the place where he is staying; bleeding. If a sick man regains his health during the days of tashriq; he should stone whatever stoning has been done for him and he must offer a sacrificial animal.
