He said; I slept across the bed; and Allah Messenger ﷺ along with his wife slept lengthwise. Allah Messenger ﷺ slept till midnight or slightly before or after it. Then Allah Apostle woke up; sat; and removed the traces of sleep by rubbing his hands over his face. Then he recited the last ten verses of Surat AlImran 2. Then he went towards a hanging leather watercontainer and performed a perfect ablution and then stood up for prayer. Abdullah Bin Abbas added; I got up and did the same as Allah Messenger ﷺ had done and then went and stood by his side. Allah Messenger ﷺ then put his right hand over my head and caught my right ear and twisted it. He offered two rakat; then two rakat; then two rakat; then two rakat; then two rakat; then two rakat and then offered one raka witr. Then he lay down till the Muadh-dhin came and then he prayed two light rakat and went out and offered the early morning Fajr prayer. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1637		Narrated Anas Bin Malik: Allah Messenger ﷺ used to visit Um Haram bint Milhan she was the wife of Ubada Bin AlSamit. One day the Prophet ﷺ visited her and she provided him with food and started looking for lice in his head. Then Allah Messenger ﷺ slept and afterwards woke up smiling. Um Haram asked; What makes you smile; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ? He said; Some of my followers were presented before me in my dream as fighters in Allah Cause; sailing in the middle of the seas like kings on the thrones or like kings sitting on their thrones. The narrator Ishaq is not sure as to which expression was correct. Um Haram added; I said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Invoke Allah; to make me one of them; So Allah Messenger ﷺ invoked Allah for her and then laid his head down and slept. Then he woke up smiling again. Um Haram added : I said; What makes you smile; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ? He said; Some people of my followers were presented before me in a dream as fighters in Allah Cause. He said the same as he had said before. I said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Invoke Allah to make me from them. He said; You are among the first ones. Then Um Haram sailed over the sea during the Caliphate of Muawiya Bin Abu Sufyan; and she fell down from her riding animal after coming ashore; and died. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1806		Narrated Ibn Abbas: One night I slept at the house of Maimuna. The Prophet ﷺ woke up; answered the call of nature; washed his face and hands; and then slept. He got up late at night ; went to a water skin; opened the mouth thereof and performed ablution not using much water; yet he washed all the parts properly and then offered the prayer. I got up and straightened my back in order that the Prophet ﷺ might not feel that I was watching him; and then I performed the ablution; and when he got up to offer the prayer; I stood on his left. He caught hold of my ear and brought me over to his right side. He offered thirteen rakat in all and then lay down and slept till he started blowing out his breath as he used to do when he slept. In the meantime Bilal informed the Prophet ﷺ of the approaching time for the Fajr prayer; and the Prophet offered the Fajr Morning prayer without performing new ablution. He used to say in his invocation; Allahumma ijal fi qalbi nuran wa fi basari nuran; wa fi sami nuran; waan yamini nuran; waan yasari nuran; wa fawqi nuran; wa tahti nuran; wa amami nuran; wa khalfi nuran; wajal li nuran. Kuraib a sub narrator said; I have forgotten seven other words; which the Prophet ﷺ mentioned in this invocation. I met a man from the offspring of AlAbbas and he narrated those seven things to me; mentioning; Let there be light in my nerves; my flesh; my blood; my hair and my body; and he also mentioned two other things. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-366		Narrated Ibn Abbas: Once I passed the night in the house of Maimuna his aunt. I slept across the bed while Allah Apostle and his wife slept length-wise. Allah Messenger ﷺ went towards a leather skin and performed ablution in the most perfect way and then stood for the prayer. I did the same and stood beside him. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-5211		Narrated AlBara: It was the custom among the companions of Muhammad that if any of them was fasting and the food was presented for breaking his fast ; but he slept before eating; he would not eat that night and the following day till sunset. Qais Bin Sirma AlAnsari was fasting and came to his wife at the time of Iftar breaking one fast and asked her whether she had anything to eat. She replied; No; but I would go and bring some for you. He used to do hard work during the day; so he was overwhelmed by sleep and slept. When his wife came and saw him; she said; Disappointment for you. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-542		Narrated Ibn Juraij from Nafi: Abdullah Bin Umar said; Once Allah Messenger ﷺ was busy at the time of the Isha ; so the prayer was delayed so much so that we slept and woke up and slept and woke up again. The Prophet ﷺ came out and said; None amongst the dwellers of the earth but you have been waiting for the prayer. Ibn Umar did not find any harm in praying it earlier or in delaying it unless he was afraid that sleep might overwhelm him and he might miss the prayer; and sometimes he used to sleep before the Isha prayer. Ibn Juraij said; I said to Ata; I heard Ibn Abbas saying: Once Allah Messenger ﷺ delayed the Isha prayer to such an extent that the people slept and got up and slept again and got up again. Then Umar Bin AlKhattab I; stood up and reminded the Prophet ﷺ I of the prayer. Ata said; Ibn Abbas said: The Prophet came out as if I was looking at him at this time; and water was trickling from his head and he was putting his hand on his head and then said; Hadnt I thought it hard for my followers; I would have ordered them to pray Isha prayer at this time. I asked Ata for further information; how the Prophet had kept his hand on his head as he was told by Ibn Abbas. Ata separated his fingers slightly and put their tips on the side of the head; brought the fingers downwards approximating them till the thumb touched the lobe of the ear at the side of the temple and the beard on the face. He neither slowed nor hurried in this action but he acted like that. The Prophet ﷺ said: Hadnt I thought it hard for my followers I would have ordered them to pray at this time. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-566		Narrated Abdullah Bin Abi Qatada: My father said; One night we were traveling with the Prophet ﷺ and some people said; We wish that Allah Messenger ﷺ would take a rest along with us during the last hours of the night. He said; I am afraid that you will sleep and miss the Fajr prayer. Bilal said; I will make you get up. One of narrators AlHarith; said in his narration : He slept then he woke up smiling. I said to him: What is making you smile; O Messenger of Allah? He said: Some people of my Ummah were shown to me; fighting in the cause of Allah and riding across the sea like kings on thrones; as he had said the first time. I said: O Messenger of Allah; pray to Allah to make me one of them. He said: You will be one of the first. And she traveled by sea at the time of Muawiyah; then she fell from her mount when she came out of the sea and died. He then stood up and prayed. I also got up and did as he did. I then went and stood at his side. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ placed his right hand upon my head and took me by my ear twisting it. He then prayed two rakahs; then two rakahs; then two rakahs; then two rakahs; then two rakahs; then two rakahs. The narrator AlQanabi said: Six times. He observed the witr prayer; and then slept until the muadhdhin came. He got up and prayed two light rakahs and then came out and offered the dawn prayer. He then lay down on the bed and slept as much as Allaah wished. He then got up and did the same. He then lay down and slept. He then got up and did the same. Every time he used the tooth-stick and offered two rakah of prayer. He then offered the prayer known as witr.Abu Dawud said: Fudail on the authority if Husain reported the wording: He then used the tooth-stick and performed ablution while he was reciting the verses: Verily in the creation of the heaves and the earth... until he finished the chapter. The man was seized and brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He ordered that his hand should be cut off. I came to him and said: Do you cut off only for thirty dirhams ? I sell it to him and make the payment of its price a loan ? He said: Why did you not do so before bringing him to me ?Abu Dawud said: Zaidah has also transmitted it from Simak from Juayd Ibn Hujayr. He said: Safwan slept. Mujahid and Tawus said: While he was sleeping a thief came and stole the cloak from beneath his head. The version of Abu Salamah Ibn Abdulrahman has: He snatched it away from beneath his head and he awoke. He cried and he the thief was seized. AlZuhri narrated from Safwan Ibn Abdullah. His version has: He slept in the Masjid and used his cloak as pillow. A thief came and took his cloak. The thief was seized and brought to the Prophet ﷺ. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-27509		Narrated Abdullah Ibn Umar: Bilal made a call to prayer before the break of dawn; the Prophet ﷺ ; therefore; commanded him to return and make a call: Lo! the servant of Allah i.e. I had slept hence this mistake. The version of Mousa has the addition: He returned and made a call: Lo! the servant of Allah had slept.Abu Dawud said: This tradition has been narrated by AlDarawardi from Ubaid Allah on the authority of Ibn Umar saying: There was a muadhdhin of Umar; named Masud. MuwataMalik-017-001-36160		Yahya related to me from Malik from Hisham Ibn Urwa from his father fromYahyaibn Abdulrahman Ibn Ha ib that he had set off for Mumra with Umar Ibn AlKhattab in a party of riders; among whom was Amr Ibn AlAs. Umar Ibn AlKhattab dismounted for a rest late at night on a certain road near a certain oasis. Umar had a wet dream when it was almost dawn and there was no water among the riding party. He rode until he came to some water and then he began to wash off what he saw of the semen until it had gone. Amr Ibn AlAs said to him; It is morning and there are clothes with us; so allow your garment to be washed. Umar Ibn AlKhattab said to him; I am surprised at you; Amr Ibn AlAs! Even if you could find clothes; would everybody be able to find them? By Allah; if I were to do it; it would become a sunna. No; I wash what I see; and I sprinkle with water what I do not see. Malik spoke about a man who found traces of a wet dream on his clothes and did not know when it had occurred and did not remember anything he had seen in his sleep. He said; Let the intention of his ghusl be from the time when he last slept; and if he has prayed since that last sleep he should repeat it. This is because often a man has a wet dream and sees nothing; and often he sees something but does not have an emission. But; if he finds liquid on his garment he must do ghusl. This is because Umar repeated what he had prayed after the time he had last slept and not what was before it. MuwataMalik-017-001-36217		Yahya related to me from Malik that Zayd Ibn Aslam said; The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; stopped for a rest one night on the way to Makka and appointed Bilal to wake them up for the prayer. Bilal slept and everyone else slept and none of them woke up until the sun had risen. When they did wake up they were all alarmed. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; ordered them to ride out of the valley; saying that there was a shaytan in it. So they rode out of the valley and the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; ordered them to dismount and do Ablution and he told Bilal either to call the prayer or to give the iqama. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; then led them in the prayer. Noticing their uneasiness; he went to them and said; O people! Allah seized our spirits arwah and if He had wished He would have returned them to us at a time other than this. So if you sleep through the time for a prayer or forget it and then are anxious about it; pray it as if you were praying it in its time. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; turned to Abu Bakr and said; Shaytan came to Bilal when he was standing in prayer and made him lie down and lulled him to sleep like a small boy. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; then called Bilal and told him the same as he had told Abu Bakr.
