- Narrated Abu Hazim: Sahl Bin Saad said that a woman brought a Burda sheet to the Prophet. Sahl asked the people; Do you know what is a Burda? The people replied; It is a Shamla; a sheet with a fringe. That woman said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! I have brought it so that you may wear it. So the Prophet ﷺ took it because he was in need of it and wore it. A man among his companions; seeing him wearing it; said; O Allah Apostle! Please give it to me to wear. The Prophet ﷺ said; Yes. and gave him that sheet. When the Prophet left; the man was blamed by his companions who said; It was not nice on your part to ask the Prophet for it while you know that he took it because he was in need of it; and you also know that he the Prophet never turns down anybody request that he might be asked for. That man said; I just wanted to have its blessings as the Prophet ﷺ had put it on; so l hoped that I might be shrouded in it. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2555
- Narrated Abu Juray Jabir Ibn Salim AlHujaymi: I saw a man whose opinion was accepted by the people; and whatever he said they submitted to it. I asked: Who is he? They said: This is the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I said: On you be peace; Messenger of Allah; twice. He said: Do not say On you be peace; for On you be peace is a greeting for the dead; but say Peace be upon you. I asked: You are the Messenger of Allah may peace be upon you ? He said: I am the Messenger of Allah Whom you call when a calamity befalls you and He removes it; when you suffer from drought and you call Him; He grows food for you; and when you are in a desolate land or in a desert and your camel strays and you call Him; He returns it to you. I said: Give me some advice. He said: Do not abuse anyone. He said that he did not abuse a freeman; or a slave; or a camel or a sheep thenceforth. He said: Do not look down upon any good work; and when you speak to your brother; show him a cheerful face. This is a good work. Have your lower garment halfway down your shin; if you cannot do it; have it up to the ankles. Beware of trailing the lower garment; for it is conceit and Allah does not like conceit. And if a man abuses and shames you for something which he finds in you; then do not shame him for something which you find in him; he will bear the evil consequences for it. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-27293
- Narrated Safwan Bin Yala Bin Umaiya: Yala used to say; I wish I could see Allah Messenger ﷺ at the time he is being inspired Divinely. When the Prophet ﷺ was at AlJarana and was shaded by a garment hanging over him and some of his companions were with him; a man perfumed with scent came and said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! What is your opinion regarding a man who assumes Ihram and puts on a cloak after perfuming his body with scent? The Prophet ﷺ waited for a while; and then the Divine Inspiration descended upon him. Umar pointed out to Yala; telling him to come. Yala came and pushed his head underneath the screen which was covering the Prophet ﷺ and behold! The Prophet face was red and he kept on breathing heavily for a while and then he was relieved. Thereupon he said; Where is the questioner who asked me about Umra a while ago? The man was sought and then was brought before the Prophet ﷺ who said to him ; As regards the scent which you perfumed your body with; you must wash it off thrice; and as for your cloak; you must take it off; and then perform in your Umra all those things which you perform in Hajj. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3252
- Safwan Bin Yala Bin Umaya reported that Yala used to say to Umar Bin AlKhattab Allah be pleased with him : Would that I see revelation descending upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Once when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was in Jirana and there was a cloth which provided shade over him; and there were his Companions with him. Umar being one of them; there came a person with a cloak of wool on him daubed with perfume and he said: Messenger of Allah; what about the person who entered upon the state of Ihram with a cloak after daubing it with perfume? The Apostle of Allah ﷺ looked at him for a short while; and then became quiet; and revelation began descending upon him; and Umar gestured with his hand to Yala Bin Umaya to come. Yala came and he entered his head beneath the cloth and saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with his face red; and breathing heavily. Then he felt relieved of that burden and he said: Where is the man who was just asking me about Umra? The man was searched for and he was brought; and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: So far as the perfume is concerned; wash it three times; and remove the cloak too as it was sewn and do in Umra as you do in Hajj. SahihMuslim-017-001-22718

- Jabir Bin Abdullah reported: Allah Messenger ﷺ one day in the course of his sermon made mention of a person among his Companions who had died and had been wrapped in a shroud not long enough to cover his whole body and was buried during the night. The Apostle of Allah ﷺ reprimanded the audience that a person was buried during the night in a state that funeral prayer could not be offered over him by the Messenger of Allah. And this is permissible only when it becomes a dire necessity for a man. The Apostle of Allah ﷺ also said: When any one of you shrouds his brother; he should shroud him well.
