And remember Moses prayed for water for his people; We said: "Strike the rock with thy staff." Then gushed forth therefrom twelve springs. Each group knew its own place for water. So eat and drink of the sustenance provided by Allah, and do no evil nor mischief on the (face of the) earth.

(thou hast authority,) either to punish them, or to treat them with kindness."
Seest thou not that Allah sends down rain from the sky, and leads it through springs in the earth? Then He causes to grow, therewith, produce of various colours: then it withers; thou wilt see it grow yellow; then He makes it dry up and crumble away. Truly, in this, is a Message of remembrance to men of understanding.

We directed Moses by inspiration, when his (thirsty) people asked him for water: "Strike the rock with thy staff": out of it there gushed forth twelve springs: Each group knew its own place for water. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-27957Abu Humaid AlSaid said: Some people asked: Messenger of Allah; how should we invoke blessings on you? He said: Say; O Allah; bless Muhammad; his wives and his off springs; as Thou didst bless Abrahams family; and grant favours to Muhammads family; his wives and off springs; as Thou didst grant favours to Abrahams family. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-29205Narrated Ghalib AlQattan: Ghalib quoted a man who stated on the authority of his father that his grandfather reported: They lived at one of the springs. When Islam reached them; the master of the spring offered his people one hundred camels if they embraced Islam. So they embraced Islam; and he distributed the camels among them. But it occurred to him that he should take the camels back from them. He sent his son to the Prophet ﷺ and said to him: Go to the Prophet ﷺ and tell him: My father extends his greetings to you. He asked his people to give them one hundred camels if they embraced Islam; and they embraced Islam. He divided the camels among them. But it occurred to him then that he should withdraw his camels from them. Is he more entitled to them or we? If he says: Yes or no; then tell him: My father is an old man; and he is the chief of the people living at the water. He has requested you to make me chief after him. He came to him and said: My father has extended his greetings to you. He replied: On you and you father be peace. He said: My father asked his people to give them one hundred camels if they embraced Islam. So they embraced Islam; and their belief in Islam is good. Then it occurred to him that he should take his camels back from them. Is he more entitled to them or are they? He said: If he likes to give them the camels; he may give them; and if he likes to take them back; he is more entitled to them than his people. If they embraced Islam; then for them is their Islam. If they do not embrace Islam; they will be fought against in the cause of Islam. He said: My father is an old man; he is the chief of the people living at the spring. He has asked you to appoint me chief after him. He replied: The office of a chief is necessary; for people must have chiefs; but the chiefs will go to Hell. The Chapter on Pre-Islam And Chiefs Embracing Islam in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Regarding AlArafah in Sunan Abu Dawoud

MuwataMalik-017-001-34423Yahya related to me from Malik from Abuz-Zubayr AlMakki from Abut-Tufayl Amir Ibn Wathila that Muadh Ibn Jabal told him that they went out with the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; in the year of Tabuk; and the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; joined dhuhr with asr and maghrib with isha. Muadh said; One day he delayed the prayer; and then came out and prayed dhuhr and asr together. Then he said; Tomorrow you will come; insha llah; to the spring of Tabuk. But you will not get there until well into the morning. No one who arrives should touch any of its water until I come. We came to it and two men had got to it before us and the spring was dripping with a little water. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; asked them; Have you touched any of its water? They said; Yes. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; reviled them and said what Allah wished him to say. Then they took water with their hands from the spring little by little until it had been collected in something. Then the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; washed his face and hands in it. Then he put it back into the spring and the spring flowed with an abundance of water and the people drew water from it. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; If you live long enough; Muadh; you will soon see this place filled with gardens. The Chapter on Peace And Charity in HodHood Indexing, The Book of The Times of Prayer in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-34997Yahya said that Malik said; The best of what has been heard about a sharecropper stipulating on the owner of the property the inclusion of some slave workers; is that there is no harm in that if they are workers that come with the property. They are like the property. There is no profit in them for the share-cropper except to lighten some of his burden. If they did not come with the property; his toil would be harder. It is like share-cropping land with a spring or land with a watering trough. You will not find anyone who receives the same share for share-cropping two lands which are equal in property and yield; when one property has a constant plentiful spring and the other has a watering trough; because of the lightness of working land with a spring; and the hardship of working land with a watering trough. Malik added; That is what is done in our community. Malik said; A share-cropper cannot employ workers from the property in other work; and he cannot make that a stipulation with the one who gives him the share-cropping contract. Nor is it permitted to one who share-crops to stipulate on the owner of the property inclusion of slaves for use in the garden who are not in it when he makes the share-cropping contract. Nor must the owner of the property stipulate on the one who uses his property for share-cropping that he take any of the slaves of the property and remove him from the property. The share-cropping of property is based on the state which it is currently in. If the owner of the property wants to remove one of the slaves of the property; he removes him before the share-cropping; or if he wants to put someone into the property; he does it before the share-cropping. Then he grants the share-cropping contract after that if he wishes. If any of the slaves die or go off or become ill; the owner of the property must replace them. The Chapter on Contracts And Disputes And Contracts in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Dress in Muwata Malik
