SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1113 | Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet ﷺ said; When Allah ordains something on the Heaven the angels beat with their wings in obedience to His Statement which sounds like that of a chain dragged over a rock. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1455 | Narrated Ibn Abbas: I used to teach Quran to Abdulrahman Bin Auf. When Umar performed his last Hajj; Abdulrahman said to me at Mina; Would that you had seen Chief of the believers today! A man came to him and said; So-and-so has said; If Chief of the Believers died; we will give the oath of allegiance to such-and-such person; Umar said; I will get up tonight and warn those who want to usurp the people rights. I said; Do not do so; for the season of Hajj gathers the riffraff mob who will form the majority of your audience; and I am afraid that they will not understand the meaning of your saying properly and may spread an incorrect statement everywhere. You should wait till we reach Medina; the place of migration and the place of the Sunna the Prophet Traditions. There you will meet the companions of Allah Messenger ﷺ from the Muhajirin and the Ansar who will understand your statement and place it in its proper position Umar said; By Allah; I shall do so the first time I stand to address the people in Medina. When we reached Medina; Umar in a Friday Khutba-sermon said; No doubt; Allah sent Muhammad with the Truth and revealed to him the Book Quran ; and among what was revealed; was the Verse of AlRajm stoning adulterers to death. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1614 | Narrated Ibn Abbas: Lian was mentioned in the presence of the Prophet; Aasi m Bin Adi said a statement about it; and when he left; a man from his tribe came to him complaining that he had seen a man with his wife. Aasi m said; I have been put to trial only because of my statement. So he took the man to the Prophet ﷺ and the man told him about the incident. The man husband was of yellow complexion; thin; and of lank hair; while the man whom he had accused of having been with his wife; was reddish brown with fat thick legs and fat body. The Prophet ﷺ said; O Allah! Reveal the truth. Later on the lady delivered a child resembling the man whom the husband had accused of having been with her. So the Prophet ﷺ made them take the oath of Lian. A man said to Ibn Abbas in the gathering; Was that the same lady about whom the Prophet ﷺ said; If I were to stone any lady for committing illegal sexual intercourse to death without witnesses; I would have stoned that lade to death? Ibn Abbas said; No; that was another lady who used to behave in such a suspicious way among the Muslims that one might accuse her of committing illegal sexual intercourse. | The Chapter on Fornication And Adultery And Family in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on To behave in a suspicious and dishonest way and to accuse others without proof in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1709 | Narrated AlAswad: Aisha bought Barira in order to manumit her; but her masters stipulated that her Wala after her death would be for them. Aisha said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! I have bought Barira in order to manumit her; but her masters stipulated that her Wala will be for them. The Prophet ﷺ said; Manumit her as the Wala is for the one who manumits the slave ; or said; The one who pays her price. Then Aisha bought and manumitted her. After that; Barira was given the choice by the Prophet to stay with her husband or leave him. She said; If he gave me so much and so much money I would not stay with him. AlAswad added: Her husband was a free man. The sub-narrator added: The series of the narrators of AlAswad statement is incomplete. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1941 | Narrated Abu Dhar: While I was walking with the Prophet ﷺ at the Hurra of Medina in the evening; the mountain of Uhud appeared before us. The Prophet ﷺ said; O Abu Dhar! I would not like to have gold equal to Uhud mountain for me; unless nothing of it; not even a single Dinar remains of it with me; for more than one day or three days; except that single Dinar which I will keep for repaying debts. I will spend all of it the whole amount among Allah slaves like this and like this and like this. The Prophet ﷺ pointed out with his hand to illustrate it and then said; O Abu Dhar! I replied; Labbaik wa Sadaik; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! He said; Those who have much wealth in this world will be the least rewarded in the Hereafter except those who do like this and like this i.e.; spend their money in charity. Then he ordered me; Remain at your place and do not leave it; O Abu Dhar; till I come back. He went away till he disappeared from me. Then I heard a voice and feared that something might have happened to Allah Messenger ﷺ ; and I intended to go to find out but I remembered the statement of Allah Messenger ﷺ that I should not leave; my place; so I kept on waiting and after a while the Prophet ﷺ came ; and I said to him; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ; I heard a voice and I was afraid that something might have happened to you; but then I remembered your statement and stayed there. The Prophet ﷺ said; That was Gabriel who came to me and informed me that whoever among my followers died without joining others in worship with Allah; would enter Paradise. I said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Even if he had committed illegal sexual intercourse and theft? SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2014 | Narrated Abu Huraira: We witnessed along with Allah Messenger ﷺ the Khaibar campaign. Allah Messenger ﷺ told his companions about a man who claimed to be a Muslim; This man is from the people of the Fire. When the battle started; the man fought very bravely and received a great number of wounds and got crippled. On that; a man from among the companions of the Prophet ﷺ came and said; O Allah Apostle! Do you know what the man you described as of the people of the Fire has done? He has fought very bravely for Allah Cause and he has received many wounds. The Prophet ﷺ said; But he is indeed one of the people of the Fire. Some of the Muslims were about to have some doubt about that statement. So while the man was in that state; the pain caused by the wounds troubled him so much that he put his hand into his quiver and took out an arrow and committed suicide with it. Off went some men from among the Muslims to Allah Messenger ﷺ and said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Allah has made your statement true. So-and-so has committed suicide. Allah Messenger ﷺ said; O Bilal! Some said Go near so that the Prophet ﷺ may write for you a statement after which you will not go astray; while the others said as Umar said. When they caused a hue and cry before the Prophet; Allah Messenger ﷺ said; Go away! Narrated Ubaidullah: Ibn Abbas used to say; It was very unfortunate that Allah Messenger ﷺ was prevented from writing that statement for them because of their disagreement and noise. | The Chapter on Supplications And Fear in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The saying of the patient Get up from me in Sahih AlBukhari

Allah Messenger ﷺ said to Abu Talib; O uncle! Say: None has the right to be worshipped but Allah; a sentence with which I shall be a witness i.e. argue for you before Allah. Abu Jahl and Abdullah Bin Abi Umaiya said; O Abu Talib! Are you going to denounce the religion of Abdul Muttalib? Allah Messenger ﷺ kept on inviting Abu Talib to say it i.e. None has the right to be worshipped but Allah while they Abu Jahl and Abdullah kept on repeating their statement till Abu Talib said as his last statement that he was on the religion of Abdul Muttalib and refused to say; None has the right to be worshipped but Allah. Then Allah Messenger ﷺ said; I will keep on asking Allah forgiveness for you unless I am forbidden by Allah to do so. The man was a married one. Jabir Bin Abdullah AlAnsari said: I was one of those who stoned him. We stoned him at the Mousalla Id praying place in Medina. Allah Messenger ﷺ is not dead! Umar later on said; By Allah! Nothing occurred to my mind except that. He said; Verily! Allah will resurrect him and he will cut the hands and legs of some men. Then Abu Bakr came and uncovered the face of Allah Messenger ﷺ ; kissed him and said; Let my mother and father be sacrificed for you; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ; you are good in life and in death. By Allah in Whose Hands my life is; Allah will never make you taste death twice. Then he went out and said; O oath-taker! Dont be hasty. When Abu Bakr spoke; Umar sat down. Abu Bakr praised and glorified Allah and said; No doubt! Whoever worshipped Muhammad; then Muhammad is dead; but whoever worshipped Allah; then Allah is Alive and shall never die. Then he recited Allah Statement.:- O Muhammad Verily you will die; and they also will die. 39.30 He also recited:- Muhammad is no more than an Apostle; and indeed many Apostles have passed away; before him; If he dies Or is killed; will you then Turn back on your heels? And he who turns back On his heels; not the least Harm will he do to Allah And Allah will give reward to those Who are grateful. 3.144 The people wept loudly; and the Ansar were assembled with Sad Bin Ubada in the shed of Bani Saida. They said to the emigrants. There should be one Amir from us and one from you. Then Abu Bakr; Umar Bin AlKhattab and Abu baida Bin AlJarrah went to them. Umar wanted to speak but Abu Bakr stopped him. Umar later on used to say; By Allah; I intended only to say something that appealed to me and I was afraid that Abu Bakr would not speak so well. Then Abu Bakr spoke and his speech was very eloquent. He said in his statement; We are the rulers and you Ansars are the ministers i.e. advisers ; Hubab Bin AlMundhir said; No; by Allah we wont accept this. But there must be a ruler from us and a ruler from you. Abu Bakr said; No; we will be the rulers and you will be the ministers; for they i.e. Quarish are the best family amongst the Arabs and of best origin. So you should elect either Umar or Abu Ubaida Bin AlJarrah as your ruler. Umar said to Abu Bakr ; No but we elect you; for you are our chief and the best amongst us and the most beloved of all of us to Allah Messenger ﷺ. So Umar took Abu Bakr hand and gave the pledge of allegiance and the people too gave the pledge of allegiance to Abu Bakr. Someone said; You have killed Sad Bin Ubada. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-5086 | Narrated Abu Huraira: The people say that Abu Huraira narrates too many narrations. In fact Allah knows whether I say the truth or not. They also ask; Why do the emigrants and the Ansar not narrate as he does? In fact; my emigrant brethren were busy trading in the markets; and my Ansar brethren were busy with their properties. I was a poor man keeping the company of Allah Messenger ﷺ and was satisfied with what filled my stomach. So; I used to be present while they i.e. the emigrants and the Ansar were absent; and I used to remember while they forgot the Hadith. One day the Prophet ﷺ said; Whoever spreads his sheet till I finish this statement of mine and then gathers it on his chest; will never forget anything of my statement. So; I spread my covering sheet which was the only garment I had; till the Prophet ﷺ finished his statement and then I gathered it over my chest. By Him Who had sent him i.e. Allah Apostle with the truth; since then I did not forget even a single word of that statement of his; until this day of mine. By Allah; but for two verses in Allah Book; I would never have related any narration from the Prophet. These two verses are : Verily! Abdullah replied; Do not pray till water is found. Abu Mousa said; What do you say about the statement of Ammar who was ordered by the Prophet ﷺ to perform Tayammum. The Prophet ﷺ said to him: Perform Tayammum and that would be sufficient. Abdullah replied; Dont you see that Umar was not satisfied by Ammar statement? Abu Mousa said; All right; leave Ammar statement; but what will you say about this verse of Tayammum ? Abdullah kept quiet and then said; If we allowed it; then they would probably perform Tayammum even if water was available; if one of them found it water cold. Abdullah replied; If we allowed it then they would probably perform Tayammum with clean earth even if water were available but cold. I said to Shaqiq; You then disliked to perform Tayammum because of this? Shaqiq said; Yes. Shaqiq added ; Abu Mousa said; Havent you heard the statement of Ammar to Umar? He said: I was sent out by Allah Messenger ﷺ for some job and I became Junub and could not find water so I rolled myself over the dust clean earth like an animal does; and when I told the Prophet ﷺ of that he said; Like this would have been sufficient. The Prophet ﷺ saying so lightly stroked the earth with his hand once and blew it off; then passed his left hand over the back of his right hand or his right hand over the back of his left hand and then passed them over his face. So Abdullah said to Abu Mousa; Dont you know that Umar was not satisfied with Ammar statement? Narrated Shaqiq: While I was with Abdullah and Abu Mousa; the latter said to the former; Havent you heard the statement of Ammar to Umar? He said; Allah Messenger ﷺ sent you and me out and I became Junub and rolled myself in the dust clean earth for Tayammum. SahihMuslim-017-001-18330 | Abu Nadra reported: I asked Ibn Umar and Ibn Abbas Allah be pleased with them about the conversion of gold with gold but they did not find any harm in that. I was sitting in the company of Abd Saeed AlKhudri Allah be pleased with him and asked him about this exchange; and he said: Whatever is addition is an interest. I refused to accept it on account of their statement statement of Ibn Abbas and Ibn Umar. He said: I am not narrating to you except what I heard from Allah Messenger ﷺ. There came to him the owner of a date-palm with one sa of fine dates; and the dates of Allah Apostle ﷺ were of that colour. Allah Apostle ﷺ said to him: Where did you get these dates? I went with two sa of inferior dates and bought one sa of these fine dates ; for that is the prevailing price of inferior dates in the market and that is the price of the fine quality of dates in the market ; whereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said: Woe be upon you! You have dealt in interest; when you decide to do it i. e. exchange superior quality of dates for inferior quality ; so you should sell your dates for another commodity or currency and then with the help of that commodity buy the dates you like. Abu Saad said: When dates are exchanged for dates with different qualities there is the possibility of the element of interest creeping into that or when gold is exchanged for gold having different qualities. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-24642 | Narrated Abdullah Ibn Amr: AbulJawza said: A man who attended the company of the Prophet ﷺ narrated to me it is thought that he was Abdullah Ibn Amr : The Prophet ﷺ said to me: Come to me tomorrow; I shall give you something; I shall give you something; I shall reward you something; I shall donate something to you. I thought that he would give me some present. He said to me when I came to him : When the day declines; stand up and pray four rakahs. He then narrated something similar. This version adds: Do not stand until you glorify Allah ten times; and praise Him ten times; and exalt Him ten times; and say; There is no god but Allah ten times. Then you should do that in four rakahs. If you are the greatest sinner on earth; you will be forgiven by Allah on account of this prayer. I asked: If I cannot pray this the appointed hour; what should I do ? He replied: Pray that by night or by day at any time.Abu Dawud said: Habban Bin Hilal is the maternal uncle of Hilal AlRai.Abu Dawud said: This tradition has been narrated by AlMustamir Bin AlRiyan from Ibn AlJawza from Abdullah Bin Amr without referring to the Prophet ﷺ ; - narrated as a statement of Abdullah Bin Amr himself mauquf. This has also been narrated by Rawh Bin AlMusayab; and Jafar Bin Sulaiman from Amr Bin Malik AlNakri from Abu AlJauza from Ibn Abbas as his own statement and not the statement of the Prophet. But the version of Rawh has the words: The tradition of the Prophet ﷺ. | The Chapter on Truth And Hypocrisy And Killing in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Salat AtTasbih in Sunan Abu Dawoud
SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-24653 | Narrated Abu Saeed and Abu Huraira: The Prophet ﷺ said: If a man awakens his wife at night; and then both pray or both offer two rakahs together; the name of the man will be recorded among those who mention the name of Allah; and the name of the woman will be recorded among those who mention the name of Allah. Ibn Kathir did not narrate this tradition as a statement of the Prophet ﷺ ; but he reported it as a statement of Abu Said.Abu Dawud said: This tradition has been narrated by Ibn Mahdi from Sufyan and I think he mentioned the name of Sufyan. He also said: The tradition transmitted by Sufyan is a statement of the Companion and not that of the Prophet. | The Chapter on Truth And Hypocrisy And Islam And Forgiveness in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The Voluntary Night Prayer in Sunan Abu Dawoud
SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-25036 | Mujahid said I was with Ibn Abbas. A man came to him and said that he divorced his wife by three pronouncements. I kept silence and thought that he was going to restore het to him. He then said A man goes and commits a foolish act and then says O; Ibn Abbas! Alaah has said And for those who fear Allaah; He ever prepares a way out. Since you did not keep duty to Allaah I do not find a way out for you. You disobeyed your Lord and your wife was separated from you. Allaah has said O Prophet! When you divorce women divorce them in the beginning of their waiting period.Abu Dawud said This tradition has been transmitted by Humaid AlAraj and by others from Mujahid on the authority of Ibn Abbas. Shubjh narrated it from Amr Bin Murrah from Said Bin Jubair on the authority of Ibn Abbas. Ayoub and Ibn Jubair both narrated it from Ikrimah Bin Khalid from Said Bin Jubair on the authority of Ibn Abbas. Ibn Juraij narrated it from Abd AlHamid Bin Rafi from Ata from Ibn Abbas. AlAmash narrated it from Malik Bin AlHarith on the authority of Ibn Abbas. They all said about the divorce by three pronouncements. He allowed it and said Your wife has been separated from you similar to the tradition narrated by Ismail from Ayoub from Abd Allaah Bin Kathir.Abu Dawud said Hammad Bin Zaid narrated it from Ayoub from Ikrimah on the authority of Ibn Abbas. This version adds If he said You are divorced three times saying in one pronouncement; it constitutes a single divorce. Ismail Bin Ibrahim narrated it from Ayoub from Ikrimah. This is his Ikrimahs statement. He did not mention the name of Ibn Abbas. He narrated it as a statement of Ikrimah. | The Chapter on Wives And Relationship And Menstruation in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The Abrogation Of Taking Back A Wife After The Third Divorce in Sunan Abu Dawoud
SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-25037 | Abu Dawud said The opinion of Ibn Abbas has been mentioned in the following tradition. Ahmad Bin Salih and Muhammad Bin Yahya narrated this is the version of Ahmad bin Salih from Abd Ar Razzaq from Mamar from AlZuhri from Abu Salamah din Abdulrahman Bin Awuf and Muhammad Bin Abdulrahman Bin Thawban from Muhammad Bin Iyas that Ibn Abbas; Abu Huraira and Abd Alah Bin Amr Bin AlAs were asked about a virgin who is divorced three times by her husband. They all said She is not lawful for him until she marries a man other than her former husband.Abu Dawud said Malik narrated from Yahya Bin Said from Bukair Bin AlAshajj from Muawiyah Bin Abi Ayash who was present on this occasion when Muhammad Bin Iyas Bin AlBukair came to Ibn AlZubair and Aasi m in Umar. He asked them about this matter. They replied Go to Ibn Abbas and Abu Huraira; I have left them with Aisha may Allaah be pleased with her. He then narrated the rest of the tradition.Abu Dawud said The statement of Ibn Abbas goes The divorce by three pronouncements separates the wife from husband whether the marriage has been consummated or not; the previous husband is not lawful for her until she marries a man other than her husband. This statement is like the tradition which deals with the exchange of money. In this tradition the narrator said Ibn Abbas withdrew his opinion. | The Chapter on Marriage And Entitlements in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The Abrogation Of Taking Back A Wife After The Third Divorce in Sunan Abu Dawoud
SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-25490 | This tradition has also been transmitted through a different chain of narrators by Ibn Umar to the same effect. This version adds A woman in the sacred state while wearing ihram should not be veiled or wear gloves.Abu Dawud said This tradition has also been transmitted by Hatim Bin Ismail and Yahya Bin Ayoub from Mousa Bin Uqbah from Nafi as reported by AlLaith. This has also been narrated by Mousa Bin Tariq from Mousa Bin Uqbah as a statement of Ibn Umar not of the Prophet. Similarly; this tradition has also been transmitted by Ubaid Allah Bin Umar; Malik and Ayoub as a statement of Ibn Umar not of the Prophet. Ibrahim Bin Said AlMadini narrated this tradition from Nafi on the authority of Ibn Umar from the Prophet ﷺ A woman in the sacred state wearing ihram must not be veiled or wear gloves.Abu Dawud said Ibrahim Bin Said AlMadini is a traditionist of Madina. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-25718 | Narrated Wail Bin Hujr : A man brought an Abyssinian to the Prophet ﷺ and said: This man has killed my nephew. He asked: How did you kill him? He replied: I struck his head with axe but I did not intend to kill him. He asked: Have you some money so that you pay his blood-wit? He said: No. He said: What is your opinion if I send you so that you ask the people for money and thus collect your blood-wit? He said: No. He asked : Will your masters give you his blood-wit to pay his relatives ? He said: No. He said to the man. Take him. So he brought him out to kill him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: If he kill him; he will be like him. This statement reached the man where he was listening to his statement. He said: He is here; order regarding him as you like. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Leave him alone. And he once said: He will bear the burden of the sin of the slain and that of his own and thus he will become one of the Companions of Hell. So he let him go. | The Chapter on Crimes And Felonies Of Killing in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The Imam Enjoining A Pardon In The Case Of Bloodshed in Sunan Abu Dawoud
SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-26443 | Narrated Hamnah daughter of Jahsh: Hamnah said my menstruation was great in quantity and severe. So I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for a decision and told him. I found him in the house of my sister; Zaynab; daughter of Jahsh. I said: Messenger of Allah; I am a woman who menstruates in great quantity and it is severe; so what do you think about it? It has prevented me from praying and fasting. He said: I suggest that you should use cotton; for it absorbs the blood. She replied: It is too copious for that. He said: Then take a cloth. She replied: It is too copious for that; for my blood keeps flowing. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: I shall give you two commands; whichever of them you follow; that will be sufficient for you without the other; but you know best whether you are strong enough to follow both of them. He added: This is a stroke of the Devil; so observe your menses for six or seven days; Allah alone knows which it should be; then wash. And when you see that you are purified and quite clean; pray during twenty-three or twenty-four days and nights and fast; for that will be enough for you; and do so every month; just as women menstruate and are purified at the time of their menstruation and their purification. But if you are strong enough to delay the noon Zuhr prayer and advance the afternoon Asr prayer; to wash; and then combine the noon and the afternoon prayer; to delay the sunset prayer and advance the night prayer; to wash; and then combine the two prayers; do so: and to wash at dawn; do so: and fast if you are able to do so if possible. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Of the two commands this is more to my liking.1Abu Dawud said: Amr Bin Thabit narrated from Ibn Aqil: Hamnah said: Of the two commands this is the one which is more to my liking.2 In this version these words were not quoted as the statement of the Prophet ﷺ ; it gives it as a statement of Hamnah.Abu Dawud said: Amr Bin Thabit was a Rafidi. This has been said by Yahya Bin Main.Abu Dawud said: I heard Ahmad Bin Hanbal say: I am doubtful about the tradition transmitted by Ibn Aqil. | The Chapter on Menstruation And Fasting in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on When The Menstruation Starts She Should Leave The Prayer in Sunan Abu Dawoud
SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-26456 | This tradition has also been narrated by Aisha through a different chain of transmitters.Abu Dawud said: All the traditions on this subject transmitted by Adi Bin Thabit and Amash on the authority of Habib and Ayoub AlAla; all of them are weak; none of them is sound. This tradition indicates the tradition reported by AlAmash a a statement of Companion; i.e. Aishah. Hafs Bin Ghayath has rejected the tradition transmitted by Habib as the statement of the Prophet. And Asbat also reported it as a statement of Aishah.Abu Dawud said: Ibn Dawud has narrated the first part of this tradition as a statement of the Prophet ; and denied that there was any mention of performing ablution for every prayer. The weakness of the tradition reported by Habib is also indicated by the fact that the version transmuted by AlZuhri from Urwah on the authority of Aisha says that she used to wash herself for every prayer; these words occur in the tradition about the woman who has a flow of blood. This tradition has been reported by Abu AlYaqzan from Adi Bin Thabit from his father from Ali; and narrated by Ammar; the freed salve of Banu Hashim; from Ibn Abbas; and transmitted by Abd AlMalik Bin Maisarah; Bayan; AlMughirah; Firas; on the authority of AlShabi; from Qumair from Aisha; stating: You should perform ablution for every prayer. The version transmitted by Dawud; and Aasi m from AlShabi from Qumair from Aisha has the words: She should take bath only once every day. The version reported by Hisham Bin Urwah from his father has the words: The woman having a flow of blood should perform ablution for every prayer. All these traditions are weak except the tradition reported by Qumair and the tradition reported by Ammar; the freed slave of Banu Hashim; and the tradition narrated by Hisham Bin Urwah on the authority of his father. What is commonly known from Ibn Abbas is bathing for every prayer. | The Chapter on Menstruation And Ablution in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Those Who Said She Should Perform Ghusl From One Purity To The Other in Sunan Abu Dawoud
SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-26460 | Urwah Bin AlZubair said the Fatimah daughter of Abu Hubaish had a prolonged flow of blood. The Prophet ﷺ said to her: When the blood of menses comes; it is black blood with can be recognized; so when that comes; refrain from prayer; but when a different type comes; perform ablution and pray.Abu Dawud said: Ibn AlMuthanna said: Ibn Adi narrated this tradition from his memory on the authority of Urwah from Aishah.Abu Dawud said: This tradition has also been transmitted by AlAla Bin AlMusayab and Shubah from AlHakam on the authority of Abu Jafar. AlAla reported it as a statement of the Prophet ﷺ ; and Shubah as a statement of Abu Jafar; saying: She should perform ablution for every prayer. | The Chapter on Prolonged Menstruation in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Those Who Said She Should Perform Wudu For Evey Prayer in Sunan Abu Dawoud
SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-26955 | Narrated Buraydah Ibn AlHasib: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: In eloquence there is magic; in knowledge ignorance; in poetry wisdom; and in speech heaviness. Sasaah Ibn Suhan said: The Prophet of Allah ﷺ spoke the truth. His statement In eloquence there is magic means: For example ; there is a right due from a man who is more eloquent in reasoning than the man who is demanding his right. He the defendant charms the people by his speech and takes away his right. His statement In knowledge there is ignorance means: A scholar brings to his knowledge what he does not know; and thus he becomes ignorant of that. His statement In poetry there is wisdom means: These are the sermons and examples by which people receive admonition. His statement In speech there is heaviness means: That you present your speech and your talk to a man who is not capable of understanding it; and who does not want it. | The Chapter on Truth And Hypocrisy And Dreams in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on What has been narrated about poetry in Sunan Abu Dawoud
SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-27718 | Nafi said on the authority of Ibn Umar that when he began prayer; he uttered the takbir Allah is most great and raised his hands; and when he bowed he raised his hands ; and when he said: Allah listens to him who praises Him; he raised his hands ; and when he stood up at the end of two rakahs; he raised his hands. He Ibn Umar traced that back to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.Abu Dawud said: What is correct is that the tradition reported by Ibn Umar does not go back to the Prophet may peace beupon him.Abu Dawud said: The narrator Baqiyah reported the first part of this tradition from Ubaid Allah and traced it back to the Prophet ﷺ ; and the narrator AlThaqafi reported it from Ubaid Allah as a statement of Ibn Umar himself not from the Porphet. In this version he said: When he stood at the end of two rakahs he raised them up to his breasts. And this is the correct version.Abu Dawud said: This tradition has been transmitted as a statement of Ibn Umar and not of the Prophet by AlLaith Bin Sad; Malik; Ayoub ; and Ibn Juraij; and this has been narrated as a statement of the Prophet ﷺ by Hammad Bin Salamah alone on the authority of Ayoub. Ayoub and Malik did not mention his raising of hands when he stood after two prostrations; but AlLaith mentioned it in his version. Ibn Juraij said in this version: I asked Nafi: Did Ibn Umar raise his hands higher for the first time? He said: No; I said: Point out to me. He then pointed to the breasts or lower than that. | The Chapter on The Format Of Prostration in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The Beginning Of The Prayer in Sunan Abu Dawoud
SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-27982 | Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet ﷺ said: Shortening the salutation is sunnah commendable. The narrator Isa said: Ibn AlMubarak prohibited me from reporting this tradition as a statement of the Prophet ﷺ.Abu Dawud said: I heard Abu Umar Isa Bin Yunus AlFakhuri AlRamil saying: When AlFiryabi returned from Mecca; he gave up narrating this tradition as a statement of the Prophet ﷺ. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-28252 | Aisha said that the prophet ﷺ used to stay with Zainab; daughter of Jahsh; and drink honey. I and Hafsah counseled each other that if the Prophet ﷺ enters upon any of us; she must say : I find the smell of gum maghafir from you. He then entered upon one of them; she said that to him. Thereupon he said : No; I drank honey at the house of Zainab daughter of jahsh; and I will not do it again. Then the following verse came down :O Prophet !why holdest thou to be forbidden that which Allah has made lawful to thee ? Thou seekest... If you two turn in repentance to Allah refers to Hafsah and Aisha ; and the verse: When the Prophet disclosed a matter in confidence to one of his consorts refers to the statements of the Prophet ﷺ disclosed a matter in confidence to one of his consorts refers to the statement of the Prophet ﷺ :No; I drank honey. | The Chapter on Drinks And Sharayah in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Regarding drinking honey in Sunan Abu Dawoud
SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-28519 | Narrated Aisha; Ummul Muminin: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said about the futile oath: It is man speech in his house: No; by Allah; and Yes; by Allah.Abu Dawud said: Ibrahim AlSaigh; the narrator of this tradition ; was a pious man. Abu Muslim killed him at Aranda. When he raised a hammed and heard the call to prayer; he gave it up.Abu Dawud said: This tradition has been transmitted by Dawud Bin Abi AlFurat from Ibrahim AlSaigh as a statement of Aisha not attributed to the Prophet. Similarly; it has been transmitted by AlZuhri; Abd AlMalik Bin Abi Sulaiman and Malik Bin Mughul. All of them transmitted it from Ata on the authority of Aisha on her own statement. | The Chapter on Truth And Hypocrisy And Killing in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Idle Laghw Oaths in Sunan Abu Dawoud
SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-28570 | Narrated Jabir Ibn Abdullah: A man stood on the day of Conquest of Mecca and said: Messenger of Allah; I have vowed to Allah that if He grants conquest of Mecca at your hands; I shall pray two rakahs in Jerusalem. He replied: Pray here. He repeated his statement to him and he said: Pray here. He again repeated his statement to him. He the Prophet replied: Pursue your own course; then.Abu Dawud said: A similar tradition has been narrated by Abdulrahman Bin Awuf from the Prophet ﷺ. | The Chapter on Makkah And Arafat in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on One Who Vows To Perform Salah In Bait AlMaqdis Jerusalem in Sunan Abu Dawoud
SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-29506 | Narrated Abu Saeed AlKhudri: A woman came to the Prophet ﷺ while we were with him. She said: Messenger of Allah; my husband; Safwan Ibn AlMuattal; beats me when I pray; and makes me break my fast when I keep a fast; and he does not offer the dawn prayer until the sun rises. He asked Safwan; who was present; about what she had said. He replied: Messenger of Allah; as for her statement he beats me when I pray; she recites two surahs during prayer and I have prohibited her to do so. He the Prophet said: If one surah is recited during prayer ; that is sufficient for the people. Safwan continued: As regards her saying he makes me break my fast; she dotes on fasting; I am a young man; I cannot restrain myself. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said on that day: A woman should not fast except with the permission of her husband. Safwan said: As for her statement that I do not pray until the sun rises; we are a people belonging to a class; and that our profession of supplying water is already known about us. We do not awake until the sun rises. MuwataMalik-017-001-35191 | Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi that Abdullah Ibn Umar said that statements like I cut myself off from you;orYou are abandoned; were considered as three pronouncements of divorce. Malik said that any strong statements such as these or others were considered as three pronouncements of divorce for a woman whose marriage had been consummated. In the case of a woman whose marriage had not been consummated; the man was asked to make an oath on his deen; as to whether he had intended one or three pronouncements of divorce. If he had intended one pronouncement; he was asked to make an oath by Allah to confirm it; and he became a suitor among other suitors; because a woman whose marriage had been consummated; required three pronouncements of divorce to make her inaccessible for the husband; whilst only one pronouncement was needed to make a woman whose marriage had not been consummated inaccessible. Malik added; That is the best of what I have heard about the matter. | The Chapter on Adhan And Iqama Pronunciation in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Marriage in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35400 | Yahya related to me from Malik from Suhayl Ibn Abi Salih from his father from Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; Whoever makes an oath and then sees that something else would be better than it; should do kaffara for his oath and do what is better. Yahya said that he heard Malik say; Anyone who says that he has a vow but does not mention the name of Allah; is still obliged to make the kaffara for an oath if he breaks it. Malik said; Emphasis is when a man swears one thing several times; repeating the oath in his speech time after time. For instance; the statement; By Allah; I will not decrease it from such-and-such; sworn three times or more. The kaffara of that is like the kaffara of one oath. If a man swears; I will not eat this food or wear these clothes or enter this house; that is all in one oath; and he is only obliged to do one kaffara. It is the same for a man who says to his wife; You are divorced if I clothe you in this garment or let you go to the Masjid; and it is one entire statement in the normal pattern of speech. If he breaks any of that oath; divorce is necessary; and there is no breaking of oath after that in whatever he does. There is only one oath to be broken in that. Malik said; What we do about a woman who makes a vow without her husband permission is that she is allowed to do so and she must fulfill it; if it only concerns her own person and will not harm her husband. If; however; it will harm her husband; he may forbid her to fulfill it; but it remains an obligation against her until she has the opportunity to complete it. | The Chapter on Oaths And Pledges And Kaffara in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Jihad in Muwata Malik |
