Ibn Juraij said; I said to Ata; I heard Ibn Abbas saying: Once Allah Messenger ﷺ delayed the Isha prayer to such an extent that the people slept and got up and slept again and got up again. Then Umar Bin AlKhattab I; stood up and reminded the Prophet ﷺ I of the prayer. Ata said; Ibn Abbas said: The Prophet came out as if I was looking at him at this time; and water was trickling from his head and he was putting his hand on his head and then said; Hadnt I thought it hard for my followers; I would have ordered them to pray Isha prayer at this time. I asked Ata for further information; how the Prophet had kept his hand on his head as he was told by Ibn Abbas. Ata separated his fingers slightly and put their tips on the side of the head; brought the fingers downwards approximating them till the thumb touched the lobe of the ear at the side of the temple and the beard on the face. He neither slowed nor hurried in this action but he acted like that. The Prophet ﷺ said: Hadnt I thought it hard for my followers I would have ordered them to pray at this time. | The Chapter on Asr Obligatory Prayers in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Sleeping before the Isha prayer if one is overwhelmed by it sleep in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-5870 | Narrated Abu Bakra: The Prophet ﷺ delivered to us a sermon on the Day Of AlNahr. He said; Do you know what is the day today? We said; Allah and His Apostle know better. He remained silent till we thought that he might give that day another name. He said; Isnt it the Day Of AlNahr? We said; It is. He further asked; Which month is this? We said; Allah and His Apostle know better. He remained silent till we thought that he might give it another name. He then said; Isnt it the month of Dhu AlHijja? We replied: Yes! It is. He further asked; What town is this? We replied; Allah and His Apostle know it better. He remained silent till we thought that he might give it another name. He then said; Isnt it the forbidden Sacred town of Mecca ? We said; Yes. It is. He said; No doubt; your blood and your properties are sacred to one another like the sanctity of this day of yours; in this month of yours; in this town of yours; till the day you meet your Lord. No doubt! Havent I conveyed Allah message to you? They said; Yes. He said; O Allah! Be witness. So it is incumbent upon those who are present to convey it this information to those who are absent because the informed one might comprehend it what I have said better than the present audience; who will convey it to him. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6732 | Narrated Abu Bakra: The Prophet ﷺ said; Time has taken its original shape which it had when Allah created the Heavens and the Earth. The year is of twelve months; four of which are sacred; and out of these four three are in succession; i.e. Dh AlQada; Dhu AlHijja and AlMuharram; and the fourth is Rajab which is named after the Mudar tribe; between the month of Jumaida ath-thania and Shaban. Then the Prophet ﷺ asked; Which is this month? We said; Allah and His Apostle know better. On that the Prophet ﷺ kept quiet so long that we thought that he might name it with another name. Then the Prophet ﷺ said; Isnt it the month of Dhu AlHijja? We replied; Yes. Then he said; Which town is this? We replied; Allah and His Apostle know better. On that he kept quiet so long that we thought that he might name it with another name. Then he said; Isnt it the town of Mecca? We replied; Yes; Then he said; Which day is today? We replied; Allah and His Apostle know better. He kept quiet so long that we thought that he might name it with another name. Then he said; Isnt it the day of AlNahr i.e. sacrifice ? We replied; Yes. He said; So your blood; your properties; The sub-narrator Muhammad said; I think the Prophet ﷺ also said: And your honor.. are sacred to one another like the sanctity of this day of yours; in this city of yours; in this month of yours; and surely; you will meet your Lord; and He will ask you about your deeds. Beware! Do not become infidels after me; cutting the throats of one another. It is incumbent on those who are present to convey this message of mine to those who are absent. May be that some of those to whom it will be conveyed will understand it better than those who have actually heard it. SahihMuslim-017-001-17336 | Abu Bakra reported that in the Farewell Address Allah Apostle ﷺ said: Time has completed a cycle and come to the state of the day when Allah created the heavens and the earth. The year is constituted of twelve months; of which four are sacred; three of them consecutive; viz. Dh AlQada; Dhu AlHijja and Muharram; and also Rajab the month of Mudar which comes between Jumada and Shaban. He the Holy Prophet then said: which month is this? We said Allah and His Messenger know best. He the narrator said: He the Holy Prophet remained silent for some time until we thought that he would give it a name other than that by which it was known. He said: Is it not Dhal-Hijja? We said: Yes. He the Holy Prophet said: Which city is this? We said: Allah and His Messenger know best. He the Holy Prophety remained silent until we thought that he would give it another name. He the Holy Prophet said: Is it not the Balda the city of Mecca ? We said: Yes. He said: What day is this? We said: Allah and His Messenger know best. He the Holy Prophet remained silent until we thought that he would give it another name. He said: Is it not the Day of Sacrifice? We said: Allah Messenger. yes. Thereupon he said: Your blood; your property Muhammad; one of the narrators; said: I think; he also said this and your honour are sacred to you like the sacredness of this day of yours; in this city of yours; and in this month of yours. You will soon meet your Lord and He will ask you about your deeds. So do not turn after me unbelievers or misguided ; some of you striking the necks of the others. Behold I let him who is present convey to him who is absent; for many a one whom a message is conveyed has a more retentive memory than one who hears. He again said: Behold! have I not delivered the message to you? SahihMuslim-017-001-19154 | Nafi Bin Utba reported: We were with Allah Messenger ﷺ in an expedition that there came a people to Allah Apostle ﷺ from the direction of the west. They were dressed in woollen clothes and they stood near a hillock and they met him as Allah Messenger ﷺ was sitting. I said to myself: Better go to them and stand between him and them that they may not attack him. Then I thought that perhaps there had been going on secret negotiation amongst them. I however; went to them and stood between them and him and I remember four of the words on that occasion which I repeat on the fingers of my hand that he Allah Messenger said: You will attack Arabia and Allah will enable you to conquer it; then you would attack Persia and He would make you to conquer it. Then you would attack Rome and Allah will enable you to conquer it; then you would attack the Dajjal and Allah will enable you to conquer him. SahihMuslim-017-001-19228 | Nafi reported that Ibn Umar said: I met lbn Sayad twice and said to some of them his friends : You state that it was he the Dajjal. He said: By Allah; it is not so. I said: You have not told me the truth; by Allah some of you informed me that he would not die until he would have the largest number of offspring and huge wealth and it is he about whom it is thought so. Then Ibn Sayad talked to us. I then departed and met him again for the second time and his eye had been swollen. I said: What has happened to your eye? He said: I do not know. I said: This is in your head and you do not know about it? He said: If Allah so wills He can create it eye in your staff. He then produced a sound like the braying of a donkey. Some of my companions thought that I had struck him with the staff as he was with me that the staff broke into pieces; but; by Allah; I was not conscious of it. He then came to the Mother of the Faithful Hafsa and narrated it to her and she said: What concern you have with him? We thought that he meant the mother who had given him birth. He Muhammad Bin Qais then reported that it was Aisha who had narrated this: Should I not narrate to you about myself and about the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ? We said: Yes. She said: When it was my turn for Allah Messenger ﷺ to spend the night with me; he turned his side; put on his mantle and took off his shoes and placed them near his feet; and spread the corner of his shawl on his bed and then lay down till he thought that I had gone to sleep. He took hold of his mantle slowly and put on the shoes slowly; and opened the door and went out and then closed it lightly. I covered my head; put on my veil and tightened my waist wrapper; and then went out following his steps till he reached Baqi. He stood there and he stood for a long time. He then lifted his hands three times; and then returned and I also returned. He hastened his steps and I also hastened my steps. He ran and I too ran. He came to the house and I also came to the house. I; however; preceded him and I entered the house ; and as I lay down in the bed; he the Holy Prophet entered the house ; and said: Why is it; O Aisha; that you are out of breath? I said: There is nothing. He said: Tell me or the Subtle and the Aware would inform me. I said: Messenger of Allah; may my father and mother be ransom for you; and then I told him the whole story. He said: Was it the darkness of your shadow that I saw in front of me? I said: Yes. He gave me a nudge on the chest which I felt; and then said: Did you think that Allah and His Apostle would deal unjustly with you? She said: Whatsoever the people conceal; Allah will know it. He said: Gabriel came to me when you saw me. He called me and he concealed it from you. I responded to his call; but I too concealed it from you for he did not come to you ; as you were not fully dressed. I thought that you had gone to sleep; and I did not like to awaken you; fearing that you may be frightened. He Gabriel said: Your Lord has commanded you to go to the inhabitants of Baqi to those lying in the graves and beg pardon for them. I said: Messenger of Allah; how should I pray for them How should I beg forgiveness for them ? Then another man came and said: Messenger of Allah; I thought that such and such rite should precede such and such rite ; and then another man came and said: Messenger of Allah; I had thought that such and such was before such and such; and such and such is the sequence of the three rites; viz. throwing of pebbles; sacrificing of animal and shaving of one head. He then started AlNisa; and recited it; he then started Ali-Imran and recited leisurely. And when he recited the verses which referred to the Glory of Allah; he glorified by saying Subhan Allah-Glory to my Lord the Great ; and when he recited the verses which tell how the Lord is to be begged; he the Holy Prophet would then beg from Him ; and when he recited the verses dealing with protection from the Lord; he sought His protection and would then bow and say: Glory be to my Mighty Lord; his bowing lasted about the same length of time as his standing and then on returning to the standing posture after ruku he would say: Allah listened to him who praised Him; and he would then stand about the same length of time as he had spent in bowing. He would then prostrate himself and say: Glory be to my Lord most High; and his prostration lasted nearly the same length of time as his standing. So we went in and we found Abdullah Bin Masud sitting and glorifying Allah i. e. he was busy in dhikr and he said: What obstructed you from coming in though you had been granted permission for it? We said: There was nothing behind it but we entertained the idea that some inmate of the house might be sleeping. He said: Do you presume any idleness on the part of the family of Ibn Umm Abd the mother of Abdullah Bin Masud ? He was again busy with the glorification of Allah till he thought that the sun had risen. He said: Girl; see whether the sun has arisen. She glanced but it had not risen by that time. He was again busy with the glorification of Allah and he again thought that the sun had arisen. She glanced and confirmed that; it had risen. Upon this he Abdullah Bin Masud said: Praise be to Allah Who did not call us to account for our sins today. Mahdi said: I think that he said; He did not destroy us for our sins. One among the people said: I recited all the mufassal surahs during the night. Abdullah said: You must have recited them like the recitation of poetry. I heard the Holy Prophet combining the sarahs and I remember the combinations which the Messenger of Allah ﷺ made In the recitation of surahs. While I was on my way; I heard Abu Sufyan and Budayl Ibn Warqa speaking. I said: O Abu Hanzalah! He recognized my voice and said: AbulFadl? I replied: Yes. He said: who is with you; may my parents be a sacrifice for you? I said: Here are the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his people with him. He asked: Which is the way out? He said: He rode behind me; and his companion returned. When the morning came; I brought him to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he embraced Islam. I said: Messenger of Allah; Abu Sufyan is a man who likes this pride; do something for him. He said: Yes; he who enters the house of Abu Sufyan is safe; he who closes the door upon him is safe; and he who enters the Masjid is safe. The people scattered to their houses and in the Masjid. | The Chapter on Makkah And Pagans in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The Conquest Of Makkah in Sunan Abu Dawoud

SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-29694 | Narrated Abdullah Ibn Umar: Ibn Umar was sent with a detachment of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The people wheeled round in flight. He said: I was one of those who wheeled round in flight. When we stopped; we said i.e. thought : How should we do? We have run away from the battlefield and deserve Allah wrath. Then we said thought : Let us enter Medina; stay there; and go there while no one sees us. So we entered Medina and thought: If we present ourselves before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; and if there is a change of repentance for us; we shall stay; if there is something else; we shall go away. So we sat down waiting for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ before the dawn prayer. When he came out; we stood up to him and said: We are the ones who have fled. He turned to us and said: No; you are the ones who return to fight after wheeling away. We then approached and kissed his hand; and he said; I am the main body of the Muslims. | The Chapter on Live Stock And Gifts in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Fleeing On The Day Of The March in Sunan Abu Dawoud |

MuwataMalik-017-001-34929 | Malik related to me from Yahya Ibn Said from Sulayman Ibn Yasar that Umar Ibn AlKhattab used to attach the children of the Aljahiliya to whoever claimed them in Islam. Two men came and each of them claimed a woman child. Umar Ibn AlKhattab summoned a person who scrutinized features and he looked at them. The scrutinizer said; They both share in him. Umar Ibn AlKhattab hit him with a whip. Then he summoned the woman; and said; Tell me your tale. She said; It was this one indicating one of the two men who used to come to me while I was with my people camels. He did not leave me until he thought and I thought that I was pregnant. Then he left me; and blood flowed from me; and this other one took his place. I do not know from which of them the child is. The scrutinizer said; Allah is greater. Umar said to the child; Go to whichever of them you wish. | The Chapter on Pre-Islam And Child Embracing Islam in HodHood Indexing, The Book of The Description of the Prophet may Allah Bless Him and Grant Him Peace in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35026 | Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab that he was asked about the suckling of an older person. He said; Urwa Ibn AlZubair informed me that Abu Hudhayfa Ibn Utba Ibn Rabia; one of the companions of the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; who was present at Badr; adopted Salim who is called Salim; the mawla of Abu Hudhayfa as the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; adopted Zayd Ibn Haritha. He thought of him as his son; and Abu Hudhayfa married him to his brother sister; Fatima bint AlWalid Ibn Utba Ibn Rabia; who was at that time among the first emigrants. She was one of the best unmarried women of the Quraysh. When Allah the Exalted sent down in His Book what He sent down about Zayd Ibn Haritha; Call them after their true fathers. That is more equitable in the sight of Allah. If you do not know who their fathers were then they are your brothers in the deen and your mawali; Surat 33 ayat 5 people in this position were traced back to their fathers. When the father was not known; they were traced to their mawla. Sahla bint Suhayl who was the wife of Abu Hudhayfa; and one of the tribe of Amr Ibn Luay; came to the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; and said; Messenger of Allah! We think of Salim as a son and he comes in to see me while I am uncovered. We only have one room; so what do you think about the situation? The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; Give him five drinks of your milk and he will be mahram by it. She then saw him as a foster son. Aisha umm Almuminin took that as a precedent for whatever men she wanted to be able to come to see her. She ordered her sister; Umm Kulthum bint Abi Bakr AlSiddiq and the daughters of her brother to give milk to whichever men she wanted to be able to come in to see her. The rest of the wives of the Prophet; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; refused to let anyone come in to them by such nursing. They said; No! By Allah! We think that what the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; ordered Sahla bint Suhayl to do was only an indulgence concerning the nursing of Salim alone. No! By Allah! No one will come in upon us by such nursing! This is what the wives of the Prophet; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; thought about the suckling of an older person. | The Chapter on Permission To Enter The House in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Setting Free and Wala in Muwata Malik
