SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1441Narrated AlAmash: I asked Abu Wail; Did you witness the battle of Siffin between Ali and Muawiya? He said; Yes; and added; Then I heard Sahl Bin Hunaif saying; O people! Blame your personal opinions in your religion. No doubt; I remember myself on the day of Abi Jandal; if I had the power to refuse the order of Allah Messenger ﷺ ; I would have refused it. We have never put our swords on our shoulders to get involved in a situation that might have been horrible for us; but those swords brought us to victory and peace; except this present situation. Abu Wail said; I witnessed the battle of Siffin; and how nasty Siffin was!The Chapter on Special Days Completing The Religion in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Judging made on the basis of opinion or Qiyas in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1672Narrated Abu Mousa: The Prophet ﷺ said; I saw in a dream that I waved a sword and it broke in the middle; and behold; that symbolized the casualties the believers suffered on the Day of the battle of Uhud. Then I waved the sword again; and it became better than it had ever been before; and behold; that symbolized the Conquest of Mecca which Allah brought about and the gathering of the believers. The Chapter on Makkah And Alhajj in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on If someone waves a sword in a dream in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2663Narrated Salama Bin AlAqwa: We went out with Allah Messenger ﷺ to Khaibar and we travelled during the night. A man amongst the people said to Amir Bin AlAqwa; Wont you let us hear your poetry? Amir was a poet; and so he got down and started chanting Huda reciting for the people; poetry that keep pace with the camel foot steps; saying; O Allah! Without You we would not have been guided on the right path; neither would we have given in charity; nor would we have prayed. So please forgive us what we have committed. Let all of us be sacrificed for Your cause and when we meet our enemy; make our feet firm and bestow peace and calmness on us and if they our enemy will call us towards an unjust thing we will refuse. The infidels have made a hue and cry to ask others help against us. Allah Messenger ﷺ said; Who is that driver of the camels ? They said; He is Amir Bin AlAqwa. He said; May Allah bestow His mercy on him. A man among the people said; Has Martyrdom been granted to him; O Allah Prophet! Would that you let us enjoy his company longer. We reached the people of Khaibar and besieged them till we were stricken with severe hunger but Allah helped the Muslims conquer Khaibar. In the evening of its conquest the people made many fires. Allah Messenger ﷺ asked; What are those fires? For what are you making fires? They said; For cooking meat. He asked; What kind of meat? They said; Donkeys meat. Allah Messenger ﷺ said; Throw away the meat and break the cooking pots. A man said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Shall we throw away the meat and wash the cooking pots? He said; You can do that too. When the army files aligned in rows for the battle ; Amir sword was a short one; and while attacking a Jew with it in order to hit him; the sharp edge of the sword turned back and hit Amir knee and caused him to die. When the Muslims returned from the battle ; Salama said; Allah Messenger ﷺ saw me pale and said; What is wrong with you? I said; Let my parents be sacrificed for you! The people claim that all the deeds of Amir have been annulled. The Prophet ﷺ asked; Who said so? I replied; So-and-so and soand- so and Usaid Bin AlHudair AlAnsari said; Whoever says so is telling a lie. Verily; Amir will have double reward. While speaking the Prophet ﷺ put two of his fingers together to indicate that; and added; He was really a hard-working man and a Mujahid devout fighter in Allah Cause and rarely have there lived in it i.e.; Medina or the battle-field an Arab like him.The Chapter on Animal Sacrifice Meat in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on What kinds of poetry Rajaz and Huda is allowed in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3968Narrated Abu Mousa: The Prophet ﷺ said; In a dream I saw myself migrating from Mecca to a place having plenty of date trees. I thought that it was AlYamama or Hajar; but it came to be Medina i.e. Yathrib. In the same dream I saw myself moving a sword and its blade got broken. It came to symbolize the defeat which the Muslims suffered from; on the Day of Uhud. I moved the sword again; and it became normal as before; and that was the symbol of the victory Allah bestowed upon Muslims and their gathering together. I saw cows in my dream; and by Allah; that was a blessing; and they symbolized the believers on the Day of Uhud. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-4040Narrated Abdulrahman Bin Auf: While I was standing in the row on the day of the battle of Badr; I looked to my right and my left and saw two young Ansari boys; and I wished I had been stronger than they. One of them called my attention saying; O Uncle! Do you know Abu Jahl? I said; Yes; What do you want from him; O my nephew? He said; I have been informed that he abuses Allah Messenger ﷺ. By Him in Whose Hands my life is; if I should see him; then my body will not leave his body till either of us meet his fate. I was astonished at that talk. Then the other boy called my attention saying the same as the other had said. After a while I saw Abu Jahl walking amongst the people. I said to the boys ; Look! This is the man you asked me about. So; both of them attacked him with their swords and struck him to death and returned to Allah Apostle to inform him of that. Allah Messenger ﷺ asked; Which of you has killed him? Each of them said; I Have killed him. Allah Messenger ﷺ asked; Have you cleaned your swords? They said; No. He then looked at their swords and said; No doubt; you both have killed him and the spoils of the deceased will be given to Muadh Bin Amr Bin AlJamuh. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-4046Narrated Anas Bin Malik: When Allah favored His Apostle with the properties of Hawazin tribe as Fai booty ; he started giving to some Quarries men even up to one-hundred camels each; whereupon some Ansari men said about Allah Messenger ﷺ ; May Allah forgive His Apostle! He is giving to men of Quraish and leaves us; in spite of the fact that our swords are still dropping blood of the infidels When Allah Messenger ﷺ was informed of what they had said; he called the Ansar and gathered them in a leather tent and did not call anybody else along; with them. When they gathered; Allah Messenger ﷺ came to them and said; What is the statement which; I have been informed; and that which you have said? The learned ones among them replied; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! The wise ones amongst us did not say anything; but the youngsters amongst us said; May Allah forgive His Apostle; he gives the Quarish and leaves the Ansar; in spite of the fact that our swords are still dribbling wet with the blood of the infidels. Allah Messenger ﷺ replied; I give to such people as are still close to the period of Infidelity i.e. they have recently embraced Islam and Faith is still weak in their hearts. Wont you be pleased to see people go with fortune; while you return with Allah Messenger ﷺ to your houses? By Allah; what you will return with; is better than what they are returning with. The Ansar replied; Yes; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ; we are satisfied Then the Prophet ﷺ said to them. You will find after me; others being preferred to you. Then be patient till you meet Allah and meet His Apostle at AlKauthar i.e. a fount in Paradise. When Allah Messenger ﷺ returned to his camp and when the pagans returned to their camp; somebody talked about a man amongst the companions of Allah Messenger ﷺ who would follow and kill with his sword any pagan going alone. He said; Nobody did his job i.e. fighting so properly today as that man. Allah Messenger ﷺ said; Indeed; he is amongst the people of the Hell Fire. A man amongst the people said; I shall accompany him to watch what he does Thus he accompanied him; and wherever he stood; he would stand with him; and wherever he ran; he would run with him. Then the brave man got wounded seriously and he decided to bring about his death quickly. He planted the blade of the sword in the ground directing its sharp end towards his chest between his two breasts. Then he leaned on the sword and killed himself. The other man came to Allah Messenger ﷺ and said; I testify that you are Allah Messenger ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ asked; What has happened? He replied; It is about the man whom you had described as one of the people of the Hell Fire. The people were greatly surprised at what you said; and I said; I will find out his reality for you. So; I came out seeking him. He got severely wounded; and hastened to die by slanting the blade of his sword in the ground directing its sharp end towards his chest between his two breasts. Then he eased on his sword and killed himself. when Allah Messenger ﷺ said; A man may seem to the people as if he were practising the deeds of the people of Paradise while in fact he is from the people of the Hell Fire; another may seem to the people as if he were practicing the deeds of the people of Hell Fire ; while in fact he is from the people of Paradise. The Chapter on Good Manners And Deeds in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Do not say that soandso is a martyr in Sahih AlBukhari

When I mentioned the word Ar64 Rahman in the documents; Umaiya said; I do not know AlRahman. Write down to me your name; with which you called yourself in the Pre-Islamic Period of Ignorance. So; I wrote my name Abdu Amr. On the day of the battle of Badr; when all the people went to sleep; I went up the hill to protect him. Bilal 1 saw him i.e. Umaiya and went to a gathering of Ansar and said; Here is Umaiya Bin Khalaf! Woe to me if he escapes! So; a group of Ansar went out with Bilal to follow us Abdulrahman and Umaiya. Being afraid that they would catch us; I left Umaiya son for them to keep them busy but the Ansar killed the son and insisted on following us. Umaiya was a fat man; and when they approached us; I told him to kneel down; and he knelt; and I laid myself on him to protect him; but the Ansar killed him by passing their swords underneath me; and one of them injured my foot with his sword. He received two of those wounds on the day of Badr and one on the day of AlYarmuk. When Abdullah Bin AlZubair was killed; Abd AlMalik Bin Marwan said to me; O Urwa; do you recognize the sword of AlZubair? I said; Yes. He said; What marks does it have? I replied; It has a dent in its sharp edge which was caused in it on the day of Badr. Abd AlMalik said; You are right! i.e. their swords have dents because of clashing with the regiments of the enemies Then Abd AlMalik returned that sword to me i.e. Urwa. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6390Narrated AlBara Bin Azib: Allah Messenger ﷺ sent some men from the Ansar to kill Abu Rafi; the Jew; and appointed Abdullah Bin Atik as their leader. Abu Rafi used to hurt Allah Messenger ﷺ and help his enemies against him. He lived in his castle in the land of Hijaz. When those men approached the castle after the sun had set and the people had brought back their livestock to their homes. Abdullah bin Atik said to his companions; Sit down at your places. I am going; and I will try to play a trick on the gate-keeper so that I may enter the castle. So Abdullah proceeded towards the castle; and when he approached the gate; he covered himself with his clothes; pretending to answer the call of nature. The people had gone in; and the gate-keeper considered Abdullah as one of the castle servants addressing him saying; O Allah Servant! Enter if you wish; for I want to close the gate. Abdullah added in his story; So I went in the castle and hid myself. When the people got inside; the gate-keeper closed the gate and hung the keys on a fixed wooden peg. I got up and took the keys and opened the gate. Some people were staying late at night with Abu Rafi for a pleasant night chat in a room of his. When his companions of nightly entertainment went away; I ascended to him; and whenever I opened a door; I closed it from inside. I said to myself; Should these people discover my presence; they will not be able to catch me till I have killed him. So I reached him and found him sleeping in a dark house amidst his family; I could not recognize his location in the house. So I shouted; O Abu Rafi! Abu Rafi said; Who is it? I proceeded towards the source of the voice and hit him with the sword; and because of my perplexity; I could not kill him. He cried loudly; and I came out of the house and waited for a while; and then went to him again and said; What is this voice; O Abu Rafi? He said; Woe to your mother! A man in my house has hit me with a sword! I again hit him severely but I did not kill him. Then I drove the point of the sword into his belly and pressed it through till it touched his back; and I realized that I have killed him. I then opened the doors one by one till I reached the staircase; and thinking that I had reached the ground; I stepped out and fell down and got my leg broken in a moonlit night. I tied my leg with a turban and proceeded on till I sat at the gate; and said; I will not go out tonight till I know that I have killed him. So; when early in the morning the cock crowed; the announcer of the casualty stood on the wall saying; I announce the death of Abu Rafi; the merchant of Hijaz. Thereupon I went to my companions and said; Let us save ourselves; for Allah has killed Abu Rafi; So I along with my companions proceeded and went to the Prophet ﷺ and described the whole story to him. He said; Stretch out your broken leg. I stretched it out and he rubbed it and it became All right as if I had never had any ailment whatsoever. The Chapter on Lost And Found And The Companions in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The killing of Ab Rafi Abdullah Bin Abi AlHuqaiq in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6391Narrated AlBara: Allah Messenger ﷺ sent Abdullah Bin Atik and Abdullah Bin Utba with a group of men to Abu Rafi to kill him. They proceeded till they approached his castle; whereupon Abdullah Bin Atik said to them; Wait here ; and in the meantime I will go and see. Abdullah said later on; I played a trick in order to enter the castle. By chance; they lost a donkey of theirs and came out carrying a flaming light to search for it. I was afraid that they would recognize me; so I covered my head and legs and pretended to answer the call to nature. The gatekeeper called; Whoever wants to come in; should come in before I close the gate. So I went in and hid myself in a stall of a donkey near the gate of the castle. They took their supper with Abu Rafi and had a chat till late at night. Then they went back to their homes. When the voices vanished and I no longer detected any movement; I came out. I had seen where the gate-keeper had kept the key of the castle in a hole in the wall. I took it and unlocked the gate of the castle; saying to myself; If these people should notice me; I will run away easily. Then I locked all the doors of their houses from outside while they were inside; and ascended to Abu Rafi by a staircase. I saw the house in complete darkness with its light off; and I could not know where the man was. So I called; O Abu Rafi! He replied; Who is it? I proceeded towards the voice and hit him. He cried loudly but my blow was futile. Then I came to him; pretending to help him; saying with a different tone of my voice; What is wrong with you; O Abu Rafi? He said; Are you not surprised? Woe on your mother! A man has come to me and hit me with a sword! So again I aimed at him and hit him; but the blow proved futile again; and on that Abu Rafi cried loudly and his wife got up. I came again and changed my voice as if I were a helper; and found Abu Rafi lying straight on his back; so I drove the sword into his belly and bent on it till I heard the sound of a bone break. Then I came out; filled with astonishment and went to the staircase to descend; but I fell down from it and got my leg dislocated. I bandaged it and went to my companions limping. I said to them ; Go and tell Allah Messenger ﷺ of this good news; but I will not leave this place till I hear the news of his i.e. Abu Rafis death. When dawn broke; an announcer of death got over the wall and announced; I convey to you the news of Abu Rafi death. Amongst the companions of the Prophet ﷺ there was a man who could not help pursuing any single isolated pagan to strike him with his sword. A man amongst the people i.e. Muslims said; I will accompany him to know the fact. So he went along with him; and whenever he stopped he stopped with him; and whenever he hastened; he hastened with him. The brave man then got wounded severely; and seeking to die at once; he planted his sword into the ground and put its point against his chest in between his breasts; and then threw himself on it and committed suicide. On that the person who was accompanying the deceased all the time came to Allah Messenger ﷺ and said; I testify that you are the Messenger of Allah. The Prophet ﷺ said; Why is that what makes you say so ? He said It is concerning the man whom you have already mentioned as one of the dwellers of the Hell-Fire. The people were surprised by your statement; and I said to them; I will try to find out the truth about him for you. So I went out after him and he was then inflicted with a severe wound and because of that; he hurried to bring death upon himself by planting the handle of his sword into the ground and directing its tip towards his chest between his breasts; and then he threw himself over it and committed suicide. Allah Messenger ﷺ then said; A man may do what seem to the people as the deeds of the dwellers of Paradise but he is from the dwellers of the Hell-Fire and another may do what seem to the people as the deeds of the dwellers of the Hell- Fire; but he is from the dwellers of Paradise. The Chapter on Good Manners And Deeds in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Ghazwa of Khaibar in Sahih AlBukhari

A man in a shabby condition got up and said; Abu Mousa; did you hear the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say this? He said: Yes. So he began to chant his verses to urge the camels; reciting: O God; if Thou hadst not guided us We would have neither been guided rightly nor practised charity; Nor offered prayers. We wish to lay down our lives for Thee; so forgive Thou our lapses; And keep us steadfast when we encounter our enemies. Bestow upon us peace and tranquillity. Behold; when with a cry they called upon us to help. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Who is this driver of the camels ? They said: It is Amir. He said: God will show mercy to him. A man said: Martyrdom is reserved for him. Messenger of Allah; would that you had allowed us to benefit ourselves from his life. The narrator says : We reached Khaibar and besieged them; and we continued the siege until extreme hunger afflicted us. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Behold; God has conquered it for you. When it was evening of the day on which the city was conquered. the Muslims lit many fires. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: What are these fires? And what are they cooking? They said: They are cooking meat. He asked. Which meat? They said: That of domestic asses. He said: Let them throw it away and break the pots in which it is being cooked. A man said: Or should they throw it away and wash the pots? He said: They may do that. When the people drew themselves up in battle array Amir caught hold of his sword that was rather short He drove a Jew before him to strike him with it. As he struck him ; his sword recoiled and struck his own knee; and Amir died of the wound. When the people returned after the conquest of Kliaibar and he Salama had caught hold of my hand; and said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw that I was silent and dejected ; he said: What the matter with thee? I said to him: My father and my mother be thy ransom; people presume that Amir sacrifice has been in vain. He asked: Who has said that? I said: So and so and Usaid Bin Hudair AlAnsari. He said: Who has said that has lied. For him for Amir there is a double reward. He indicated this by putting two of his fingers together. He was a devotee of God and a warrior fighting for His cause. There will be hardly any Arab who can fight as bravely as he did. Qutaiba has differed in a few words. The Chapter on Horses And Khaiber in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 43 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-18133It has been reported on the authority of Salama Bin Akwa who said: On the day of the Battle of Khaibar my brother fought a fierce fight by the side of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. His sword rebounded and killed him. The Companions of the Messenger of Allah may peace be upon hill talked about his death and doubted whether it was martyrdom. They said : He is a man killed by his own weapon; and expressed doubt about his affair. Salama said: When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ returned from Khaibar; I said: Messenger of Allah; permit me that I may recite to you some rajaz verses. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ permitted him. Umar Bin AlKhattab said: I know what you will recite. I recited: By God; if God had guided us not; We would hive neither been guided aright nor practised charity; Nor offered prayers. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: What you have said is true; I continued : And descend on us peace and tranquillity And keep us steadfast if we encounter with our enemies And the polytheists have rebelled against us. When I finished my rajaz; the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Who composed these verses? I said: They were composed by my brother. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: May God show mercy to him! I said: By God; some people are reluctant to invoke God mercy on him because they say he is a man who died by his own sword. Hearing this the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: He died as God devotee and warrior. Ibn Shihab has said: I asked one of the sons of Salama Bin Akwa about the death of Amir. He related to me a similar tradition except that he said: When I said some people were reluctant invoke God blessings on him; the Messenger of Allah may peace be; upon him said: They lied. Amir died as God devotee and warrior in the cause of Allah. For him there is a double reward; and he pointed out this by putting his two fingers together. The Chapter on Horses And Khaiber in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 43 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-18567It is narrated by Safwan Bin Muhriz that Jundab Bin Abdullah AlBajali during the stormy days of Ibn AlZubair sent a message to Asas Bin Salama: Gather some men of your family so that I should talk to them. He Asas sent a messenger to them to the members of his family. When they had assembled; Jundab came there with a yellow hooded cloak on him; He said: Talk what you were busy in talking. The talk went on by turns; till there came his Jundabs turn. He took off the hooded cloak from his head and said: I have come to you with no other intention but to narrate to you a hadith of your Apostle: Verily the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent a squad of the Muslims to a tribe of the polytheists. Both the armies confronted one another. There was a man among the army of polytheists who was so dashing that ; whenever he intended to kill a man from among the Muslims; he killed him. Amongst the Muslims too was a man looking forward to an opportunity of his the polytheists unmindfulness. He the narrator said: We talked that he was Usama b; Zaid. When he raised his sword; he the soldier of the polytheists uttered: There is no god but Allah; but he Usama Bin Zaid killed him. When the messenger of the glad tidings came to the Apostle ﷺ he asked him about the events of the battle and he informed him about the man Usama and what he had done He the Prophet of Allah called for him and asked him why he had killed him. He Usama said: Messenger of Allah; he struck the Muslims and killed such and such of them. And he even named some of them. He continued : I attacked him and when he saw the sword he said: There is no god but Allah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Did you kill him? He Usama replied in the affirmative. He the Holy Prophet remarked: What would you do with: There is no god but Allah; when he would come before you on the Day of Judgment? He Usama said: Messenger of Allah; beg pardon for me from your Lord. He the Holy Prophet said: What would you do with: There is no god but Allah when he would come before you on the Day of Judgment? SahihMuslim-017-001-18595It is reported on the authority of Sahl Bin Saad AlSaidi that there was an encounter between the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the polytheists; and they fought against one another. At the conclusion of the battle the Messenger of Allah ﷺ bent his steps towards his army and they the enemies bent their steps towards their army. And there was a person his name was Quzman and he was one of the hypocrites among the Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who did not spare a detached fighter of the enemy but pursued and killed him with the sword. They the Companions of the Holy Prophet said: None served us better today than this man Upon this the Messenger of Allah ﷺ remarked: Verily he is one of the denizens of Fire. One of the people Muslims said: I will constantly shadow him. Then this man went out along with him. He halted whenever he halted; and ran along with him whenever he ran. He the narrator said: The man was seriously injured. He could not stand the pain and hastened his own death. He placed the blade of the sword on the ground with the tip between his chest and then pressed himself against the sword and killed himself. Then the man following him went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: I bear testimony that verily thou art the Messenger of Allah; He the Holy Prophet said: What is the matter? He replied: The person about whom you just mentioned that he was one among the denizens of Fire and the people were surprised at this and I said to them that I would bring the news about him and consequently I went out in search of him till I found him to be very seriously injured. He hastened his death. He placed the blade of the sword upon the ground and its tip between his chest and then pressed himself against that and killed himself. Thereupon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ remarked: A person performs the deeds which to the people appear to be the deeds befitting the dweller of Paradise; but he is in fact one of the denizens of Hell. And verily a person does an act which in the eyes of public is one which is done by the denizens of Hell; but the person is one among the dwellers of Paradise. The Chapter on Lost And Found And The Companions in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 47 in Sahih Muslim

Behold! when the turmoil comes or it appears; the one who has camel should stick to his camel and he who has sheep or goat should stick to his sheep and goat and he who has land should stick to the land. A person said: Allah Messenger; what is your opinion about one who has neither camel nor sheep nor land? Thereupon; he said: He should take hold of his sword and beat its edge with the help of stone and then try to find a way of escape. O Allah; I have conveyed Thy Message ; O Allah; I have conveyed Thy Message ; O Allah; I have conveyed Thy Message. A person said: Allah Messenger; what is your opinion if I am drawn to a rank in spite of myself; or in one of the groups and made to march and a man strikes with his sword or there comes an arrow and kills me? I brandished the sword for the second time and it became all right and this is what came to be true when Allah granted us victory and solidarity of the believers. The persons scattered in the valley and they also began to take rest under the shade of trees; and Allah Messenger ﷺ said: A person came to me while I was asleep and he took hold of the sword. I woke up and found him standing upon my head and I had hardly become alert and saw that the sword was in his hand. And he said: Who can protect you from me? I said: Allah. SahihMuslim-017-001-20647mousab Bin Saad reported on the authority of his father that many verses of the Quran had been revealed in connection with him. His mother Umm Saad had taken oath that she would never talk with him until he abandoned his faith and she neither ate nor drank and said: Allah has commanded you to treat well your parents and I am your mother and I command you to do this. She passed three days in this state until she fainted because of extreme hunger and at that time her son whose name was Umara stood up and served her drink and she began to curse Saad that Allah; the Exalted and Glorions; revealed these verses of the Holy Quran: And We have enjoined upon a person goodness to his parents but if they contend with thee to associate others with Me of which you have no knowledge; then obey them not xxix. 8 ; Treat thein with customary good in this world xxxi. 15. He also reported that there fell to the lot of Allah Messenger ﷺ huge spoils of war and there was one sword in them. I picked that up and came to Allah Messenger ﷺ and said: Bestow this sword upon me as my share in the spoils of war and you know my state. Thereupon he said: Return it to the place from where you picked it up. I went back until I decided to throw it in a store but my soul repulsed me so I came back and asked him to give that sword to me. He said in a loud voice to return it to the place from where I had picked it up. It was on this occasion that this verse was revealed: They asked about the spoils of war viii. 1. He further said: I once fell ill and sent a message to Allah Apostle ﷺ. He visited me and I said to him: Permit me to distribute in charity my property as much as I like. He did not agree. I said: Permit me to distribute half of it. He did not agree. I said: Permit me to distribute the third part; whereupon he kept quiet and it was after this that the distribution of one property in charity to the extent of one-third was held valid. He further said: I came to a group of persons of the Ansir and Muhajirin and they said: Come; so that we may serve you wine; and it was before the use of wine had been prohibited. I went to them in a garden and there had been with them the roasted head of a camel and a small water-skin containing wine. I ate and drank along with them and there came under discussion the Ansr Helpers and Muhajirin immigrants. I said: The immigrants are better than the Ansar; that a person picked up a portion of the head of the camel and struck me with it that my nose was injured. I came to Allah Messenger ﷺ and informed him of the situation that Aliah; the Exalted and Glorious; revealed verses pertaining to wine: Intoxicants and the games of chance and sacrificing to stones set up and divining by arrows are only an uncleanliness; the devil work v. 90.The Chapter on Almaghazi And Returning Property in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 5 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-20816Abu Burda reported on the authority of his father that when Allah Apostle ﷺ had been free from the Battle of Hunain; he sent Abu Amir as the head of the army of Autas. He had an encounter with Duraid Bin as_Simma. Duraid was killed and Allah gave defeat to his friends. Abu Mousa said: He the Holy Prophet sent me along with Abu Amir and Abu Amir received a wound in his knee from the arrow; shot by a person of Bani Jusham. It stuck in his knee. I went to him and said: Uncle; who shot an arrow upon you? Abu Amir pointed out to Abu Mousa and said: Verily that one who shot an arrow upon me in fact killed me. Abu Mousa said: I followed him with the determination to kill him and overtook him and when he saw me he turned upon his heels. I followed him and I said to him: Dont you feel ashamed that you run ; arent you an Arab? Why dont you stop? He stopped and I had an encounter with him and we exchanged the strokes of swords. I struck him with the sword and killed him. Then I came back to Abu Amir and said: Verily Allah has killed the one who killed you. And he said: Now draw out this arrow. I drew out the arrow and there came out from that wound water. Abu Amir said: My nephew; go to Allah Messenger ﷺ and convey my greetings to him and tell him that Abu Amir begs you to ask forgiveness for him. And Abu Amir appointed me as the chief of the people and he died after a short time. When I came to Allah Apostle ﷺ I visited him and he had been lying on the cot woven by strings and there was no bed over it and so there had been marks of the strings on the back of Allah Messenger ﷺ and on his sides. I narrated to him what had happened to us and narrated to him about Abu Amir and said to him that he had made a request to the effect that forgiveness should be sought for him from Allah. Thereupon Allah Messenger may peace be. upon him called for water and performed ablution with it. He then lifted his hands and said. O Allah; grant pardon to Thy servant Abu Amir. The Prophet had raised his hands so high for supplication that I saw the whiteness of his armpits. He again said: O Allah; grant him distinction amongst the majority of Thine created beings or from amongst the people. I said: Allah Messenger; ask forgiveness for me too. Thereupon Allah Apostle ﷺ said: Allah; forgive the sins of Abdullah Bin Qais Abu Mousa Ashari and admit him to an elevated place on the Day of Resurrection. SahihMuslim-017-001-22072Anas Bin Malik reported that when on the Day of Hunain Allah conferred upon His Apostle ﷺ the riches of Hawazin without armed encounter ; the Messenger of Allah ﷺ set about distributing to some persons of Quraish one hundred camels Upon this they the young people from the Ansar said: May Allah grant pardon to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that he bestowed these camels upon the people of Quraish; and he ignored us; whereas our swords are still dripping blood. Anas Bin Malik said: Their statement was conveyed to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he sent someone to the Ansar and gathered them under a tent of leather. When they had assembled; the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to them and said: What is this news that has reached me from you? The wise people of the Ansar said: Messenger of Allah; so far as the sagacious amongst us are concerned they have said nothing; but we have amongst us persons of immature age; they said: May Allah grant pardon to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that he gave to the Quraish and ignored us despite the fact that our swords are besmeared with their blood. Upon this the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: I give at times material gifts to persons who were quite recently in the state of unbelief; so that I may incline them to truth Dont you feel delighted that people should go with riches; and you should go back to your places with the Messenger of Allah? By Allah; that with which you would return is better than that with which they would return. They said: Yes; Messenger of Allah; we are pleased. The Prophet said too: You would find marked preference in conferring of the material gifts in future; so you should show patience till you meet Allah and His Messenger and I would he at the Haud Kauthar. SahihMuslim-017-001-22103Zaid Bin Wahb Juhani reported and he was among the squadron which was under the command of Ali Allah be pleased with him and which set out to curb the activities of the Khawarij. Ali Allah be pleased with him said: O people; I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: There would arise from my Ummah a people who would recite the Quran; and your recital would seem insignificant as compared with their recital; your prayer as compared with their prayer; and your fast; as compared with their fast. They would recite the Quran thinking that it supports them; whereas it is an evidence against them. Their prayer does not get beyond their collar bone; they would swerve through Islam just as the arrow passes through the prey. If the squadron which is to encounter them were to know what great boon has been assured to them by their Messenger ﷺ they would completely rely upon this deed alone and cease to do other good deeds ; and their that of the Khawarij distinctive mark is that there would be among them a person whose wrist would be without the arm; and the end of his wrist would be fleshy like the nipple of the breast on which there would be white hair. You would be marching towards Muawiya and the people of Syria and you would leave them behind among your children and your property to do harm. By Allah; I believe that these are the people against whom you have been commanded to fight and get reward for they have shed forbidden blood; and raided the animals of the people. So go forth in the name of Allah to fight against them. Salama Bin Kuhail mentioned that Zaid Bin Wahb made me alight at every stage; till we crossed a bridge. Abdullah Bin Wahb AlRasibi was at the head of the Khawarij when we encountered them. He Abdullah said to his army: Throw the spears and draw out your swords from their sheaths; for I fear that they would attack you as they attacked you on the day of Harura. They went back and threw their spears and drew out their swords; and people fought against them with spears and they were killed one after another. Only two persons were killed among the people among the army led by Ali on that day. Ali Allah be pleased with him said: Find out from among them the dead bodies of the Khawarij the maimed. They searched but did not find him. Ali Allah be pleased with him then himself stood up and walked till he came to the people who had been killed one after another. He Ali said: Search them to the last; and then Ali companions found him the dead body of the maimed near the earth. He Ali then pronounced Allahu Akbar Allah is the Greatest and then said; Allah told the Truth and His Messenger ﷺ conveyed it. Then there stood before him Abida Salmani who said: Commander of the Believers; by Allah; besides Whom there is no god but He; tell me whether you heard this hadith from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. SahihMuslim-017-001-23239Ibrahim AlTaimi reported on the authority of his father: Ali Bin Abi Talib Allah be pleased with him addressed us and said: He who thought that we have besides the Holy Quran anything else that we recite; he told a lie. And this document which is hanging by the sheath of the sword contains but the ages of the camels; and the nature of the wounds. He Hadrat Ali reported Allah Apostle ﷺ as saying: Medina is sacred from Air to Thaur; So if anyone makes an innovation or accommodates an innovator; the curse of Allah; the angels; and all persons will fall upon him; and Allah will not accept any obligatory or supererogatory act as recompense from them. And the protection granted by the Muslims is one and must be respected by the humblest of them. If anyone makes a false claim to paternity; or being a client of other than his own masters; there is upon him the curse of Allah; the angels; and all the people. Allah will not accept from him any recompense in the form of obligatory acts or supererogatory acts. The hadith transmitted on the authority of Abu Bakr and Zabair ends with these words : The humblest among them should respect it; and what follows after it is not mentioned there; and in the hadith transmitted by them these words are not found: The document was hanging on the sheath of his sword. The Chapter on Angeles And Good Deeds And Almadinah in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 85 in Sahih Muslim

I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: there will appear from among my community people who recite the Quran; and your recitation has no comparison with their recitation; and your prayer has no comparison with their prayer; and your fasts have no comparison with their fasts. On that day only two persons of the partisans of Ali were afflicted. Ali said: Search for the man with the crippled hand. But they could not find him. Then Ali got up himself and went to the people who had been killed and were lying on one another. He said: Take them out. They found him just near the ground. So he shouted: Allah is Most Great! He then said to me: What will you do; Abu Dharr; when you see the Ahjar AlZayt covered with blood? I replied: What Allah and His Apostle choose for me. He said: You must go to those who are like-minded. I asked: Should I not take my sword and put it on my shoulder? He replied: you would then associate yourself with the people. I then asked: What do you order me to do? You must stay at home. I asked: What should I do if people enter my house and find me? He replied: If you are afraid the gleam of the sword may dazzle you; put the end of your garment over your face in order that the one who kills you may bear the punishment of your sins and his.Abu Dawud said: No one mentioned AlMushath in the chain of this tradition except Hammad Bin Zaid. The Chapter on Almadinah And Companions in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The Prohibition Of Participating In The Tribulation in Sunan Abu Dawoud
SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-26613Narrated Ubadah Ibn AlSamit: The tradition mentioned above No. 4401 has also been transmitted by Ubadah Ibn AlSamit through a different chain of narrators. This version has: The people said to Saad Ibn Ubadah: Abu Thabit; the prescribed punishments have been revealed: if you find a man with your wife; what will you do? He said: I shall strike them with a sword so much that they become silent i.e. die. Should I go and gather four witnesses? Until that time the need would be fulfilled. So they went away and gathered with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: Messenger of Allah! did you not see Abu Thabit. He said so-and-so. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: The sword is a sufficient witness. He then said: No; no; a furious and a jealous man may follow this course.Abu Dawud said: This tradition has been transmitted by Waki from AlFadl Bin Dilham from AlHasan; from Qabisah Bin Huraith; from Salamah Bin AlMuhabbaq; from the Prophet ﷺ. And this is the chain of the tradition narrated by Ibn AlMuhabbaq to the effect that a man had sexual intercourse with a slave girl of his wife.Abu Dawud said: AlFadl Bin Dilham was not the memoriser of traditions. He was a butcher in Wasit. The Chapter on Illegal Sexual Intercourse And Alcohol in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Stoning in Sunan Abu Dawoud
SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-29756Narrated Abdullah Ibn Masud: I passed when Abu Jahl had fallen as his foot was struck with the swords. I said: O enemy of Allah; Abu Jahl; Allah has disgraced a man who was far away from His mercy. I did not fear him at that moment. He replied: It is most strange that a man has been killed by his people. I struck him with a blunt sword. But it did not work; and then his sword fell down from his hand; I struck him with it until he became dead. The Chapter on Fragrances And The Companions in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Regarding The Permissibility Of Using The Weapons That Have Been Used For Fighting In The Battlefield in Sunan Abu Dawoud
SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-29787mousab Bin Sad reported on the authority of his father Saad Bin Abi Waqqas I brought a sword to the Prophet ﷺ on the day of the Badr and I said to him Apostle of Allaah ﷺ ; Allaah has healed up my breast from the enemy today; so give me this sword. He said This sword is neither mine nor yours. I then went away saying today this will be given to a man who has not been put to trial like me. Meanwhile a messenger and came to me and said Respond; I thought something was revealed about me owing to my speech. I came and the Prophet ﷺ said to me You asked me for this sword; but this was neither mine nor yours. Now Allaah has given it to me; hence it is yours. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-29812AlMiswar Bin Makhramah said : The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out in the year of AlHudaibbiyah with over ten hundreds of Companions and when he came to Dhu AlHulaifa. He garlanded and marked the sacrificial animals; and entered the sacred state of Umrah. He then went on with the tradition. The Prophet moved on and when he came to the mountain; pass by which one descends to Mecca to them; his riding-beast knelt down; and the people said twice: Go on; go on; AlQaswa has become jaded. The Prophet ﷺ said: She has not become jaded and that is not a characteristic of hers; but He Who restrained the elephant has restrained her. He then said: By Him in Whose hand my soul is; they will not ask any me good thing by which they honor which God has made sacred without my giving them it. He then urged her and she leaped up and he turned Aasi de from them; and stopped at the farthest side of AlHudaibiyah at a pool with little water. Meanwhile Budail Bin Warqa AlKhuzaI came; and Urwah Bin Masud joined him. He began to speak to the Prophet ﷺ. Whenever he spoke to the Prophet ﷺ ; he caught his beard. AlMughriah Bin Shubah was standing beside the Prophet ﷺ.He had a sword with him; wearing a helmet. He AlMughriah struck his Urwahs hand with the lower end of his sheath; and said: Keep away your hand from his beard. Urwah then raised his hand and asked: Who is this? They replied: AlMughirah Bin Shubah. He said: O treacherous one! Did I not use my offices in your treachery? In pre-Islamic days AlMughirah Bin Shubah accompanied some people and murdered them; and took their property. He then came to the Prophet and embraced Islam. The Prophet ﷺ said: As for Islam we accepted it; but as to the property; as it has been taken by treachery; we have no need of it. He went on with the tradition the Prophet ﷺ said: Write down: This is what Muhammad; the Messenger of Allah; has decided. He then narrated the tradition. Suhail then said: And that a man will not come to you from us; even if he follows your religion; without you sending him back to us. When he finished drawing up the document; the Prophet ﷺ said to his Companions: Get up and sacrifice and then shave. Thereafter some believing women who were immigrants came. Allah sent down: O yea who believe; when believing women come to you as emigrants. Allah most high forbade them to send them back; but ordered them to restore the dower. He then returned to Medina. Abu Basir a man from the Quraish who was a Muslim ; came to him. And they sent two men to look for him; so he handed him over to the two men. They took him away; and when they reached Dhu AlHulaifa and alighted to eat some dates which they had; Abu Basir said to one of the men : I swear by Allah so-and-so; that I think this sword of yours is a fine one; the other drew the sword and said : Yes I have tried it. Abu Basir said: Let me look at it. He let him have it and he struck him till he died; whereupon the other fled and came to Medina; and running entered the Masjid. The Prophet ﷺ said: This man has seen something frightful. He said: I swear by Allah that my Companion has been killed; and im as good as dead. Abu Basir then arrived and said: Allah has fulfilled your covenant. You returned me to them; but Allah saved me from them. The Prophet ﷺ said: Woe to his mother; stirrer up of war! Would that he had someone i.e. some kinsfolk. When he heard that he knew that he would send him back to them; so he went out and came to the seashore. Abu Jandal escaped and joined Abu Basir till a band of them collected. The Chapter on Truth And Hypocrisy And Companions In Almadinah in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Regarding Treaties With The Enemy in Sunan Abu Dawoud
