The Prophet ﷺ said; Will fifty of you take an oath whereby you will have the right to receive the blood money of your murdered man; or said;..your companion. They said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! The murder was a thing we did not witness. The Prophet ﷺ said; Then the Jews will release you from the oath; if fifty of them the Jews should take an oath to contradict your claim. After saying that; the person retreated and sat by the side of the pillar; I followed him and sat beside him; and I did not know who he was. He said; The Prophet ﷺ said to me ; O Abu Dhar! Do you see the mountain of Uhud? And on that I Abu Dhar started looking towards the sun to judge how much remained of the day as I thought that Allah Messenger ﷺ wanted to send me to do something for him and I said; Yes! He said; I do not love to have gold equal to the mountain of Uhud unless I spend it all in Allah cause except three Dinars pounds. These people do not understand and collect worldly wealth. Then both of them accompanied me to Medina; and when we had covered some distance on the way to Medina; we saw some riders coming from Medina. We asked them and they said; Allah Messenger ﷺ has died and Abu Bakr has been appointed as the Caliph and the people are in a good state. Then they said; Tell your friend Abu Bakr that we have come to visit him ; and if Allah will; we will come again. So they both returned to Yemen. When I told Abu Bakr their statement; he said to me; I wish you had brought them to me. Afterwards I met Dhu Amr; and he said to me; O Jarir! You have done a favor to me and I am going to tell you something; i.e. you; the nation of Arabs; will remain prosperous as long as you choose and appoint another chief whenever a former one is dead. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-7224 | Narrated Ibn Abbas: For the whole year I had the desire to ask Umar Bin AlKhattab regarding the explanation of a Verse in Surat AlTahrim but I could not ask him because I respected him very much. When he went to perform the Hajj; I too went along with him. On our return; while we were still on the way home. Umar went Aasi de to answer the call of nature by the Arak trees. I waited till he finished and then I proceeded with him and asked him. O chief of the Believers! Who were the two wives of the Prophet ﷺ who aided one another against him? He said; They were Hafsa and Aisha. Then I said to him; By Allah; I wanted to ask you about this a year ago; but I could not do so owing to my respect for you. Umar said; Do not refrain from asking me. If you think that I have knowledge about a certain matter ; ask me; and if I know something about it ; I will tell you. Then Umar added; By Allah; in the Pre-lslamic Period of Ignorance we did not pay attention to women until Allah revealed regarding them what He revealed regarding them and assigned for them what He has assigned. Once while I was thinking over a certain matter; my wife said; I recommend that you do so-and-so. I said to her; What have you got to do with the is matter? Why do you poke your nose in a matter which I want to see fulfilled.? She said; How strange you are; O son of AlKhattab! You dont want to be argued with whereas your daughter; Hafsa surely; argues with Allah Messenger ﷺ so much that he remains angry for a full day! Umar then reported; how he at once put on his outer garment and went to Hafsa and said to her; O my daughter! Do you argue with Allah Messenger ﷺ so that he remains angry the whole day? H. afsa said; By Allah; we argue with him. Umar said; Know that I warn you of Allah punishment and the anger of Allah Messenger ﷺ... O my daughter! Dont be betrayed by the one who is proud of her beauty because of the love of Allah Messenger ﷺ for her i.e. Aisha. Umar addled; Then I went out to Umm Salamah house who was one of my relatives; and I talked to her. She said; O son of AlKhattab! It is rather astonishing that you interfere in everything; you even want to interfere between Allah Apostle and his wives! By Allah; by her talk she influenced me so much that I lost some of my anger. I left her and went home. At that time I had a friend from the Ansar who used to bring news from the Prophet in case of my absence; and I used to bring him the news if he was absent. In those days we were afraid of one of the kings of Ghassan tribe. We heard that he intended to move and attack us; so fear filled our hearts because of that. One day my Ansari friend unexpectedly knocked at my door; and said; Open Open! I said; Has the king of Ghassan come? He said; No; but something worse; Allah Messenger ﷺ has isolated himself from his wives. I said; Let the nose of Aisha and Hafsa be stuck to dust i.e. humiliated ! Then I put on my clothes and went to Allah Messenger ﷺ residence; and behold; he was staying in an upper room of his to which he ascended by a ladder; and a black slave of Allah Messenger ﷺ was sitting on the first step. I said to him; Say to the Prophet ﷺ Umar Bin AlKhattab is here. Then the Prophet ﷺ admitted me and I narrated the story to Allah Messenger ﷺ. When I reached the story of Umm Salamah ; Allah Messenger ﷺ smiled while he was lying on a mat made of palm tree leaves with nothing between him and the mat. Underneath his head there was a leather pillow stuffed with palm fibres; and leaves of a saut tree were piled at his feet; and above his head hung a few water skins. On seeing the marks of the mat imprinted on his side; I wept. He said. Why are you weeping? I replied; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Caesar and Khosrau are leading the life i.e. Luxurious life while you; Allah Messenger ﷺ though you are; is living in destitute. The Prophet ﷺ then replied. He the Holy Prophet said: By Allah; I cannot provide you with anything to ride. And it so happened that he was at that time much perturbed. I little knew of it; so I came back with a heavy heart on account of the refusal of Allah Messenger ﷺ ; and the fear that Allah Messenger ﷺ might have some feelings against me. I returned to my friends and informed them about what Allah Messenger ﷺ had said. I had hardly stayed for a little that I heard Bilal calling: Abdullah Bin Qais. I responded to his call. He said: Hasten to Allah Messenger ﷺ ; he is calling you; When I came to the Prophet ﷺ he said: Take this pair; this pair; and this pair i. e. six camels which he had bought from Sad ; and take them to y; our friends and say: Verily Allah or he said: Verily Allah Messenger ﷺ has provided you with these animals. So ride upon them. Abu Mousa said: I went along with them to my friends and said: Verily Allah messenger ﷺ has provided you with these animals for riding; but by Allah; I shall not leave you until some of you go along with me to him who had heard the talk of Allah Messenger ﷺ then I asked him for you; and his refusal for the first time; and then his granting them to me subsequently; so you should not think that I narrated to you something which he did not say. They said to me: By Allah; in our opinion you are certainly truthful; and we would do as you like. So Abu Mousa went along withsome of the menfrom them until they came to those who had heard the words of Allah Messenger may; ﷺ and his refusal to provide them with animals ; and subsequently his granting the animals to them; and they narrated to them exactly as Abu Masa had narrated to them. | The Chapter on Military Expedition And Almadinah in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 3 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-18304 | Abi Qilabah reported: I was in Syria having a circle of friends. in which was Muslim Bin Yasir. There came Ab AlAshath. He the narrator said that they the friends called him: Ab AlAshath; Ab AlAshath; and he sat down. I said to him: Narrate to our brother the hadith of Ubada Bin Samit. He said: Yes. We went out on an expedition; Muawiya being the leader of the people; and we gained a lot of spoils of war. And there was one silver utensil in what we took as spoils. Muawiya ordered a person to sell it for payment to the people soldiers. The people made haste in getting that. The news of this state of affairs reached Ubada Bin Samit; and he stood up and said: I heard Allah Messenger ﷺ forbidding the sale of gold by gold; and silver by silver; and wheat by wheat; and barley by barley; and dates by dates; and salt by salt; except like for like and equal for equal. So he who made an addition or who accepted an addition committed the sin of taking interest. So the people returned what they had got. This reached Muawiya. and he stood up to deliver an address. He said: What is the matter with people that they narrate from the Messenger ﷺ such tradition which we did not hear though we saw him the Holy Prophet and lived in his company? Thereupon; Ubida Bin Samit stood up and repeated that narration; and then said: We will definitely narrate what we heard from Allah Messenger ﷺ though it may be unpleasant to Muawiya or he said: Even if it is against his will. I do not mind if I do not remain in his troop in the dark night. SahihMuslim-017-001-18772 | It is narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira and Hudhaifa that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Allah; the Blessed and Exalted; would gather people. The believers would stand till the Paradise would be brought near them. They would come to Adam and say: O our father; open for us the Paradise. He would say: What turned ye out from the Paradise was the sin of your father Adam. I am not in a position to do that; better go to my son Ibrahim; the Friend of Allah. He the Holy Prophet said: He Ibrahim would say: I am not in a position to do that. Verily I had been the Friend of Allah from beyond; beyond; you better approach Moses ﷺ with whom Allah conversed. They would come to Moses ﷺ ; but he would say: I am not in a position to do that; you better go to Jesus; the Word of Allah and His Spirit. Jesus ﷺ would say: I am not in a position to do that. So they would come to Muhammad ﷺ. He would then be permitted to open the door of Paradise. Trustworthiness and kinship would be despatched; and these would stand on the right and left of the Path and the first of you would pass with the swiftness of lightning. He the narrator said: I said; O thou who art far dearer to me than my father and my mother I which thing is like the passing of lightning? He said: Have you not seen lightning; how it passes and then comes back within the twinkling of an eye? Then they would pass like the passing of the wind; then like the passing of a bird; and the hastening of persons would be according to their deeds; and your Apostle would be standing on the Path saying: Save; O my Lord; save. The people would go on passing till the deeds of the servants would be failing in strength; till a man would come who would find it hard to go along that Path but crawlingly. He the narrator said: And on the sides of the Path hooks would be suspended ready to catch anyone whom these would be required to catch. There would be those who would somehow or other succeed in trasversing that Path and some would be piled up in Hell. By Him in Whose Hand is the life of Abu Huraira it would take one seventy years to fathom the depth of Hell. | The Chapter on Friday And Supplications in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 84 in Sahih Muslim
