Gabriel said. Those are your followers; and those are seventy thousand persons in front of them who will neither have any reckoning of their accounts nor will receive any punishment. I asked; Why? He said; For they used not to treat themselves with branding cauterization nor with Ruqya get oneself treated by the recitation of some Verses of the Quran and not to see evil omen in things; and they used to put their trust only in their Lord. On hearing that; Ukasha Bin Mihsan got up and said to the Prophet ; Invoke Allah to make me one of them. The Prophet ﷺ said; O Allah; make him one of them. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2409 | Narrated Abu Saeed AlKhudri: Some of the companions of the Prophet ﷺ came across a tribe amongst the tribes of the Arabs; and that tribe did not entertain them. While they were in that state; the chief of that tribe was bitten by a snake or stung by a scorpion. They said; to the companions of the Prophet ﷺ ; Have you got any medicine with you or anybody who can treat with Ruqya? The Prophet companions said; You refuse to entertain us; so we will not treat your chief unless you pay us for it. So they agreed to pay them a flock of sheep. One of them the Prophet companions started reciting Surat AlFatiha and gathering his saliva and spitting it at the snake-bite. The patient got cured and his people presented the sheep to them; but they said; We will not take it unless we ask the Prophet whether it is lawful. When they asked him; he smiled and said; How do you know that Surat AlFatiha is a Ruqya? SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2422 | Narrated Abu Said: A group of the companions of Allah Messenger ﷺ proceeded on a journey till they dismounted near one of the Arab tribes and requested them to entertain them as their guests; but they the tribe people refused to entertain them. Then the chief of that tribe was bitten by a snake or stung by a scorpion and he was given all sorts of treatment; but all in vain. Some of them said; Will you go to the group those travelers who have dismounted near you and see if one of them has something useful? They came to them and said; O the group! Our leader has been bitten by a snake or stung by a scorpion and we have treated him with everything but nothing benefited him Has anyone of you anything useful? One of them replied; Yes; by Allah; I know how to treat with a Ruqya. But. by Allah; we wanted you to receive us as your guests but you refused. I will not treat your patient with a Ruqya till you fix for us something as wages. Consequently they agreed to give those travellers a flock of sheep. The man went with them the people of the tribe and started spitting on the bite and reciting Surat AlFatiha till the patient was healed and started walking as if he had not been sick. When the tribe people paid them their wages they had agreed upon; some of them the Prophet companions said; Distribute the sheep. But the one who treated with the Ruqya said; Do not do that till we go to Allah Apostle and mention to him what has happened; and see what he will order us. So they came to Allah Messenger ﷺ and mentioned the story to him and he said; How do you know that Surat AlFatiha is a Ruqya? You have done the right thing. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2425 | Narrated Ibn Abbas: The Prophet ﷺ once came out to us and said; Some nations were displayed before me. A prophet would pass in front of me with one man; and another with two men; and another with a group of people. and another with nobody with him. Then I saw a great crowd covering the horizon and I wished that they were my followers; but it was said to me; This is Moses and his followers. Then it was said to me; Look I looked and saw a big gathering with a large number of people covering the horizon. It was said; Look this way and that way. So I saw a big crowd covering the horizon. Then it was said to me; These are your followers; and among them there are 70;000 who will enter Paradise without being asked about their accounts. Then the people dispersed and the Prophet ﷺ did not tell who those 70;000 were. So the companions of the Prophet ﷺ started talking about that and some of them said; As regards us; we were born in the era of heathenism; but then we believed in Allah and His Apostle. We think however; that these 70;000 are our offspring. That talk reached the Prophet ﷺ who said; These 70;000 are the people who do not draw an evil omen from birds and do not get treated by branding themselves and do not treat with Ruqya; but put their trust only in their Lord. then Ukasha Bin Muhsin got up and said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! SahihAlBukhari-017-001-4768 | Narrated Urwa from Aisha: The wives of Allah Messenger ﷺ were in two groups. One group consisted of Aisha; Hafsa; Safiya and Sauda; and the other group consisted of Umm Salamah and the other wives of Allah Messenger ﷺ. The Muslims knew that Allah Messenger ﷺ loved Aisha; so if any of them had a gift and wished to give to Allah Messenger ﷺ ; he would delay it; till Allah Messenger ﷺ had come to Aisha home and then he would send his gift to Allah Messenger ﷺ in her home. The group of Umm Salamah discussed the matter together and decided that Umm Salamah should request Allah Messenger ﷺ to tell the people to send their gifts to him in whatever wife house he was. Umm Salamah told Allah Messenger ﷺ of what they had said; but he did not reply. Then they those wives asked Umm Salamah about it. She said; He did not say anything to me. They asked her to talk to him again. She talked to him again when she met him on her day; but he gave no reply. When they asked her; she replied that he had given no reply. They said to her; Talk to him till he gives you a reply. When it was her turn; she talked to him again. He then said to her; Do not hurt me regarding Aisha; as the Divine Inspirations do not come to me on any of the beds except that of Aisha. On that Umm Salamah said; I repent to Allah for hurting you. Then the group of Umm Salamah called Fatima; the daughter of Allah Messenger ﷺ and sent her to Allah Messenger ﷺ to say to him; Your wives request to treat them and the daughter of Abu Bakr on equal terms. Then Fatima conveyed the message to him. The Prophet ﷺ said; O my daughter! Dont you love whom I love? She replied in the affirmative and returned and told them of the situation. They requested her to go to him again but she refused. They then sent Zainab bint Jahsh who went to him and used harsh words saying; Your wives request you to treat them and the daughter of Ibn Abu Quhafa on equal terms. On that she raised her voice and abused Aisha to her face so much so that Allah Messenger ﷺ looked at Aisha to see whether she would retort. Aisha started replying to Zainab till she silenced her. Aisha further said; After that verse the people again asked the Prophet about the marriage with orphan girls ; so Allah revealed the following verses:- They ask your instruction Concerning the women. Say: Allah Instructs you about them And about what is Recited unto you In the Book; concerning The orphan girls to whom You give not the prescribed portions and yet whom you Desire to marry... 4.127 What is meant by Allah Saying:- And about what is Recited unto you is the former verse which goes:- If you fear that you shall not Be able to deal justly With the orphan girls; then Marry other women of your choice. 4.3 Aisha said; Allah saying in the other verse:-Yet whom you desire to marry 4.127 means the desire of the guardian to marry an orphan girl under his supervision when she has not much property or beauty in which case he should treat her justly. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-7009 | Narrated Urwa Bin AlZubair: That when he asked Aisha about the statement of Allah Until when the Apostles gave up hope of their people. 12.110 she told him its meaning ; Urwa added; I said; Did they Apostles suspect that they were betrayed by Allah or that they were treated as liars by their people ? Aisha said; They suspected that they were treated as liars by their people ; I said; But they were sure that their people treated them as liars and it was not a matter of suspicion. She said; Yes; upon my life they were sure about it. I said to her. So they Apostles suspected that they were betrayed by Allah. She said; Allah forbid! The Apostles never suspected their Lord of such a thing. I said; What about this Verse then? SahihMuslim-017-001-17759 | It has been narrated on the authority of Abdulrahman Bin Abd Rabb AlKaba who said: I entered the Masjid when Abdullah Bin Amr Bin AlAs was sitting in the shade of the Kaba and the people had gathered around him. I betook myself to them and sat near him. Now Abdullah said: I accompanied the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a journey. We halted at a place. Some of us began to set right their tents; others began to compete with one another in shooting; and others began to graze their beasts; when an announcer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ announced that the people should gather together for prayer; so we gathered around the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said: It was the duty of every Prophet that has gone before me to guide his followers to what he knew was good for them and warn them against what he knew was bad for them; but this Umma of yours has its days of peace and security in the beginning of its career; and in the last phase of its existence it will be afflicted with trials and with things disagreeable to you. In this phase of the Umma ; there will be tremendous trials one after the other; each making the previous one dwindle into insignificance. When they would be afflicted with a trial; the believer would say: This is going to bring about my destruction. When at the trial is over; they would be afflicted with another trial; and the believer would say: This surely is going to be my end. Whoever wishes to be delivered from the fire and enter the garden should die with faith in Allah and the Last Day and should treat the people as he wishes to be treated by them. He who swears allegiance to a Caliph should give him the piedge of his hand and the sincerity of his heart i. e. submit to him both outwardly as well as inwardly. He should obey him to the best of his capacity. It another man comes forward as a claimant to Caliphate ; disputing his authority; they the Muslims should behead the latter. The narrator says: I came close to him Abdullah Bin Amr Bin AlAs and said to him: Can you say on oath that you heard it from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ? He pointed with his hands to his ears and his heart and said: My ears heard it and my mind retained it. I said to him: This cousin of yours; Muawiya; orders us to unjustly consume our wealth among ourselves and to kill one another; while Allah says: O ye who believe; do not consume your wealth among yourselves unjustly; unless it be trade based on mutual agreement; and do not kill yourselves. Verily; God is Merciful to you iv. 29. SahihMuslim-017-001-18148 | It has been narrated on the authority of Yazid Bin Hurmuz that Najda wrote to Ibn Abbas inquiring of him five things. Ibn Abbas said: If I had not the fear of committing sin for concealing the knowledge I would not have written to him. Najda wrote to him saying after praising the Almighty and invoking blessings on the Prophet : Tell me whether the Messenger of Allah ﷺ took women to participate with him in Jihad; if he did ; whether he allotted them a regular share from the booty; whether he killed the children of the enemy in the war ; how long an orphan would be entitled to consideration as such; and for whom the Khums fifth part of the booty was booty. Ibn Abbas wrote to him: You have written asking me whether the Messenger of Allah ﷺ took women with him to participate in Jihad. He did take them to the battle and sometimes he fought along with them. They would treat the wounded and were given a reward from the booty; but he did not assign any regular share for them. And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not kill the children of the enemy; so you should not kill the children. Also you have written to me asking me when the orphanhood of an orphan comes to an end. By my life; if a man has become bearded but is still incapable of getting his due from others or fulfilling his obligation towards them; he is yet an orphan to be treated as such ; but when he can look after his interests like grown-up people; he is no longer an orphan. And you have written to me inquiring about Khums as to whom it is meant for. SahihMuslim-017-001-20647 | mousab Bin Saad reported on the authority of his father that many verses of the Quran had been revealed in connection with him. His mother Umm Saad had taken oath that she would never talk with him until he abandoned his faith and she neither ate nor drank and said: Allah has commanded you to treat well your parents and I am your mother and I command you to do this. She passed three days in this state until she fainted because of extreme hunger and at that time her son whose name was Umara stood up and served her drink and she began to curse Saad that Allah; the Exalted and Glorions; revealed these verses of the Holy Quran: And We have enjoined upon a person goodness to his parents but if they contend with thee to associate others with Me of which you have no knowledge; then obey them not xxix. 8 ; Treat thein with customary good in this world xxxi. 15. He also reported that there fell to the lot of Allah Messenger ﷺ huge spoils of war and there was one sword in them. I picked that up and came to Allah Messenger ﷺ and said: Bestow this sword upon me as my share in the spoils of war and you know my state. Thereupon he said: Return it to the place from where you picked it up. I went back until I decided to throw it in a store but my soul repulsed me so I came back and asked him to give that sword to me. He said in a loud voice to return it to the place from where I had picked it up. It was on this occasion that this verse was revealed: They asked about the spoils of war viii. 1. He further said: I once fell ill and sent a message to Allah Apostle ﷺ. He visited me and I said to him: Permit me to distribute in charity my property as much as I like. He did not agree. I said: Permit me to distribute half of it. He did not agree. I said: Permit me to distribute the third part; whereupon he kept quiet and it was after this that the distribution of one property in charity to the extent of one-third was held valid. He further said: I came to a group of persons of the Ansir and Muhajirin and they said: Come; so that we may serve you wine; and it was before the use of wine had been prohibited. I went to them in a garden and there had been with them the roasted head of a camel and a small water-skin containing wine. I ate and drank along with them and there came under discussion the Ansr Helpers and Muhajirin immigrants. I said: The immigrants are better than the Ansar; that a person picked up a portion of the head of the camel and struck me with it that my nose was injured. He said: There has a never been a prophet before me who was not obliged to tell his nation of what he knew was good for them; and to warn against that he knew was bad for them. With regard to Ummah of yours; soundness of religious commitment has been placed in its earlier generations; and the last of them will be afflicted with calamities and things that you dislike. Then there will come tribulations which will make the earlier ones pale into significances; and the believer will say: This will be then end of me; then relief will come. Then more tribulations will come and the believer will say: this will be the end of me; then relief will come. Whoever would like to be taken far away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise; let him die believing in Allah and the Last Day; and let him treat people as he would like to be treated. MuwataMalik-017-001-34817 | Malik related to me that he heard Ibn Shihab say; The precedent of the sunna is that when a slave is freed; his property follows him. Malik said; One thing which makes clear that the property of a slave follows him when he is freed is that when the contract mukatab is written for his freedom; his property follows him even if he did not stipulate it. That is because the bond of kitaba is the bond of wala when it is complete. The property of a slave and a mukatab is not treated in the same way as any children they may have. Their children are only treated in the same way as their own slaves; not in the same way as their property. This is because the sunna; in which there is no dispute; is that when a slave is freed; his property follows him and his children do not follow him; and when a mukatab writes the contract for his freedom; his property follows him and his children do not follow him. Malik said; One thing which makes that clear is that when a slave or a mukatab are bankrupt; their property is taken but the mothers of their children and their children are not taken because they are not their property. Malik said; Another thing which makes it clear is that when a slave is sold and the person who buys him stipulates the inclusions of his property; his children are not included in his property.
