SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1637 | Narrated Anas Bin Malik: Allah Messenger ﷺ used to visit Um Haram bint Milhan she was the wife of Ubada Bin AlSamit. One day the Prophet ﷺ visited her and she provided him with food and started looking for lice in his head. Then Allah Messenger ﷺ slept and afterwards woke up smiling. Um Haram asked; What makes you smile; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ? He said; Some of my followers were presented before me in my dream as fighters in Allah Cause; sailing in the middle of the seas like kings on the thrones or like kings sitting on their thrones. The narrator Ishaq is not sure as to which expression was correct. Um Haram added; I said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Invoke Allah; to make me one of them; So Allah Messenger ﷺ invoked Allah for her and then laid his head down and slept. Then he woke up smiling again. Um Haram added : I said; What makes you smile; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ? He said; Some people of my followers were presented before me in a dream as fighters in Allah Cause. He said the same as he had said before. I said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Invoke Allah to make me from them. He said; You are among the first ones. Then Um Haram sailed over the sea during the Caliphate of Muawiya Bin Abu Sufyan; and she fell down from her riding animal after coming ashore; and died. | The Chapter on Moses And Prophets And The Throne in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Dreams in the daytime in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1993 | Narrated Aisha: Allah Messenger ﷺ used to like sweets and also used to like honey; and whenever he finished the Asr prayer; he used to visit his wives and stay with them. Once he visited Hafsa and remained with her longer than the period he used to stay; so I enquired about it. It was said to me; A woman from her tribe gave her a leather skin containing honey as a present; and she gave some of it to Allah Messenger ﷺ to drink. I said; By Allah; we will play a trick on him. So I mentioned the story to Sauda the wife of the Prophet and said to her; When he enters upon you; he will come near to you whereupon you should say to him; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Have you eaten Maghafir? He will say; No. Then you say to him; What is this bad smell? And it would be very hard on Allah Messenger ﷺ that a bad smell should be found on his body. He will say; Hafsa has given me a drink of honey. Then you should say to him; Its bees must have sucked from the AlUrfut a foul smelling flower. I too; will tell him the same. And you; O Saifya; say the same. So when the Prophet ﷺ entered upon Sauda the following happened. Sauda said; By Him except Whom none has the right to be worshipped; I was about to say to him what you had told me to say while he was still at the gate because of fear from you. But when Allah Apostle came near to me; I said to him; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Have you eaten Maghafir? He replied; No. I said; What about this smell? He said; Hafsa has given me a drink of honey. I said; Its bees must have sucked AlUrfut. When he entered upon me; I told him the same as that; and when he entered upon Safiya; she too told him the same. So when he visited Hafsa again; she said to him; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Shall I give you a drink of it honey ? He said; I have no desire for it. Sauda said; Subhan Allah! When it was the last part of the night; Salman said to him; Get up now for the prayer. When he entered the Masjid; he disliked to leave it without offering a prayer. Ibn Umar narrated that Allah Messenger ﷺ used to visit the Masjid of Quba sometime walking and sometime riding. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-4117 | Narrated AlMiswar Bin Makhrama and Marwan: whose narrations attest each other Allah Messenger ﷺ set out at the time of AlHudaibiya treaty ; and when they proceeded for a distance; he said; Khalid Bin AlWalid leading the cavalry of Quraish constituting the front of the army; is at a place called AlGhamim; so take the way on the right. By Allah; Khalid did not perceive the arrival of the Muslims till the dust arising from the march of the Muslim army reached him; and then he turned back hurriedly to inform Quraish. The Prophet ﷺ went on advancing till he reached the Thaniya i.e. a mountainous way through which one would go to them i.e. people of Quraish. The camel of the Prophet ﷺ sat down. The people tried their best to cause the camel to get up but in vain; so they said; AlQaswa i.e. the camel name has become stubborn! AlQaswa has become stubborn! The Prophet ﷺ said; AlQaswa has not become stubborn; for stubbornness is not her habit; but she was stopped by Him Who stopped the elephant. Then he said; By the Name of Him in Whose Hands my soul is; if they i.e. the Quraish infidels ask me anything which will respect the ordinances of Allah; I will grant it to them. The Prophet ﷺ then rebuked the camel and she got up. The Prophet ﷺ changed his way till he dismounted at the farthest end of AlHudaibiya at a pit i.e. well containing a little water which the people used in small amounts; and in a short while the people used up all its water and complained to Allah Messenger ﷺ ; of thirst. The Prophet ﷺ took an arrow out of his arrow-case and ordered them to put the arrow in that pit. By Allah; the water started and continued sprouting out till all the people quenched their thirst and returned with satisfaction. While they were still in that state; Budail Bin Warqa AlKhuzai came with some persons from his tribe Khuzaa and they were the advisers of Allah Messenger ﷺ who would keep no secret from him and were from the people of Tihama. Budail said; I left Kaab Bin Louai and Amir Bin Louai residing at the profuse water of AlHudaibiya and they had milch camels or their women and children with them; and will wage war against you; and will prevent you from visiting the Kaba. Allah Messenger ﷺ said; We have not come to fight anyone; but to perform the Umra. No doubt; the war has weakened Quraish and they have suffered great losses; so if they wish; I will conclude a truce with them; during which they should refrain from interfering between me and the people i.e. the Arab infidels other than Quraish ; and if I have victory over those infidels; Quraish will have the option to embrace Islam as the other people do; if they wish; they will at least get strong enough to fight. But if they do not accept the truce; by Allah in Whose Hands my life is; I will fight with them defending my Cause till I get killed; but I am sure Allah will definitely make His Cause victorious. Budail said; I will inform them of what you have said. So; he set off till he reached Quraish and said; We have come from that man i.e. Muhammad whom we heard saying something which we will disclose to you if you should like. Some of the fools among Quraish shouted that they were not in need of this information; but the wiser among them said; Relate what you heard him saying. Budail said; I heard him saying so-and-so; relating what the Prophet ﷺ had told him. Urwa Bin Masud got up and said; O people! Arent you the sons? They said; Yes. He added; Am I not the father? They said; Yes. He said; Do you mistrust me? They said; No. He said; Dont you know that I invited the people of Ukaz for your help; and when they refused I brought my relatives and children and those who obeyed me to help you ? They said; Yes. He said; Well; this man i.e. the Prophet has offered you a reasonable proposal; youd better accept it and allow me to meet him. They said; You may meet him. So; he went to the Prophet ﷺ and started talking to him. The Prophet ﷺ told him almost the same as he had told Budail. Then Urwa said; O Muhammad! Wont you feel any scruple in extirpating your relations? Have you ever heard of anyone amongst the Arabs extirpating his relatives before you? On the other hand; if the reverse should happen; nobody will aid you; for by Allah; I do not see with you dignified people; but people from various tribes who would run away leaving you alone. Hearing that; Abu Bakr abused him and said; Do you say we would run and leave the Prophet ﷺ alone? Urwa said; Who is that man? They said; He is Abu Bakr. Urwa said to Abu Bakr; By Him in Whose Hands my life is; were it not for the favor which you did to me and which I did not compensate; I would retort on you. Urwa kept on talking to the Prophet ﷺ and seizing the Prophet beard as he was talking while AlMughira Bin Shuba was standing near the head of the Prophet; holding a sword and wearing a helmet. Whenever Urwa stretched his hand towards the beard of the Prophet; AlMughira would hit his hand with the handle of the sword and say to Urwa ; Remove your hand from the beard of Allah Messenger ﷺ. Urwa raised his head and asked; Who is that? The people said; He is AlMughira Bin Shuba. Urwa said; O treacherous! Am I not doing my best to prevent evil consequences of your treachery? Before embracing Islam AlMughira was in the company of some people. He killed them and took their property and came to Medina to embrace Islam. The Prophet ﷺ said to him; As regards your Islam; I accept it; but as for the property I do not take anything of it. As it was taken through treason. Urwa then started looking at the Companions of the Prophet. By Allah; whenever Allah Messenger ﷺ spat; the spittle would fall in the hand of one of them i.e. the Prophet companions who would rub it on his face and skin; if he ordered them they would carry his orders immediately; if he performed ablution; they would struggle to take the remaining water; and when they spoke to him; they would lower their voices and would not look at his face constantly out of respect. Urwa returned to his people and said; O people! By Allah; I have been to the kings and to Caesar; Khosrau and AlNajashi; yet I have never seen any of them respected by his courtiers as much as Muhammad is respected by his companions. By Allah; if he spat; the spittle would fall in the hand of one of them i.e. the Prophet companions who would rub it on his face and skin; if he ordered them; they would carry out his order immediately; if he performed ablution; they would struggle to take the remaining water; and when they spoke; they would lower their voices and would not look at his face constantly out of respect. Urwa added; No doubt; he has presented to you a good reasonable offer; so please accept it. A man from the tribe of Bani Kinana said; Allow me to go to him; and they allowed him; and when he approached the Prophet and his companions; Allah Messenger ﷺ said; He is so-and-so who belongs to the tribe that respects the Budn i.e. camels of the sacrifice. So; bring the Budn in front of him. So; the Budn were brought before him and the people received him while they were reciting Talbiya. When he saw that scene; he said; Glorified be Allah! It is not fair to prevent these people from visiting the Kaba. When he returned to his people; he said; I saw the Budn garlanded with colored knotted ropes and marked with stabs on their backs. I do not think it is advisable to prevent them from visiting the Kaba. Another person called Mikraz Bin Hafs got up and sought their permission to go to Muhammad; and they allowed him; too. When he approached the Muslims; the Prophet ﷺ said; Here is Mikraz and he is a vicious man. Mikraz started talking to the Prophet and as he was talking; Suhail Bin Amr came. When Suhail Bin Amr came; the Prophet ﷺ said; Now the matter has become easy. Suhail said to the Prophet Please conclude a peace treaty with us. So; the Prophet ﷺ called the clerk and said to him; Write: By the Name of Allah; the most Beneficent; the most Merciful. Suhail said; As for Beneficent; by Allah; I do not know what it means. So write: By Your Name O Allah; as you used to write previously. The Muslims said; By Allah; we will not write except: By the Name of Allah; the most Beneficent; the most Merciful. The Prophet ﷺ said; Write: By Your Name O Allah. Then he dictated; This is the peace treaty which Muhammad; Allah Messenger ﷺ has concluded. Suhail said; By Allah; if we knew that you are Allah Messenger ﷺ we would not prevent you from visiting the Kaba; and would not fight with you. So; write: Muhammad Bin Abdullah. The Prophet ﷺ said; By Allah! I am Apostle of Allah even if you people do not believe me. Write: Muhammad Bin Abdullah. AlZuhri said; The Prophet ﷺ accepted all those things; as he had already said that he would accept everything they would demand if it respects the ordinance of Allah; i.e. by letting him and his companions perform Umra. The Prophet ﷺ said to Suhail; On the condition that you allow us to visit the House i.e. Kaba so that we may perform Tawaf around it. Suhail said; By Allah; we will not allow you this year so as not to give chance to the Arabs to say that we have yielded to you; but we will allow you next year. So; the Prophet ﷺ got that written. Then Suhail said; We also stipulate that you should return to us whoever comes to you from us; even if he embraced your religion. The Muslims said; Glorified be Allah! How will such a person be returned to the pagans after he has become a Muslim? While they were in this state Abu Jandal Bin Suhail Bin Amr came from the valley of Mecca staggering with his fetters and fell down amongst the Muslims. Suhail said; O Muhammad! This is the very first term with which we make peace with you; i.e. you shall return Abu Jandal to me. The Prophet ﷺ said; The peace treaty has not been written yet. Suhail said; I will never allow you to keep him. The Prophet ﷺ said; Yes; do. He said; I wont do.: Mikraz said; We allow you to keep him. Abu Jandal said; O Muslims! Will I be returned to the pagans though I have come as a Muslim? Dont you see how much I have suffered? continued... continuing... 1 : -3.891:...... Abu Jandal had been tortured severely for the Cause of Allah. Umar Bin AlKhattab said; I went to the Prophet ﷺ and said; Arent you truly the Messenger of Allah? The Prophet ﷺ said; Yes; indeed. I said; Isnt our Cause just and the cause of the enemy unjust? He said; Yes. I said; Then why should we be humble in our religion? He said; I am Allah Messenger ﷺ and I do not disobey Him; and He will make me victorious. I said; Didnt you tell us that we would go to the Kaba and perform Tawaf around it? He said; Yes; but did I tell you that we would visit the Kaba this year? I said; No. He said; So you will visit it and perform Tawaf around it? Umar further said; I went to Abu Bakr and said; O Abu Bakr! Isnt he truly Allah Prophet? He replied; Yes. I said; Then why should we be humble in our religion? He said; Indeed; he is Allah Messenger ﷺ and he does not disobey his Lord; and He will make him victorious. Adhere to him as; by Allah; he is on the right. I said; Was he not telling us that we would go to the Kaba and perform Tawaf around it? He said; Yes; but did he tell you that you would go to the Kaba this year? I said; No. He said; You will go to Kaba and perform Tawaf around it. AlZuhri said; Umar said; I performed many good deeds as expiation for the improper questions I asked them. When the writing of the peace treaty was concluded; Allah Messenger ﷺ said to his companions; Get up and slaughter your sacrifices and get your head shaved. By Allah none of them got up; and the Prophet repeated his order thrice. When none of them got up; he left them and went to Umm Salamah and told her of the people attitudes towards him. Umm Salamah said; O the Prophet ﷺ of Allah! Do you want your order to be carried out? Go out and dont say a word to anybody till you have slaughtered your sacrifice and call your barber to shave your head. So; the Prophet ﷺ went out and did not talk to anyone of them till he did that; i.e. slaughtered the sacrifice and called his barber who shaved his head. Seeing that; the companions of the Prophet ﷺ got up; slaughtered their sacrifices; and started shaving the heads of one another; and there was so much rush that there was a danger of killing each other. Then some believing women came to the Prophet ﷺ ; and Allah revealed the following Divine Verses:- O you who believe; when the believing women come to you as emigrants examine them... 60.10 Umar then divorced two wives of his who were infidels. Later on Muawiya Bin Abu Sufyan married one of them; and Safwan Bin Umaiya married the other. When the Prophet ﷺ returned to Medina; Abu Basir; a new Muslim convert from Quraish came to him. The Infidels sent in his pursuit two men who said to the Prophet ﷺ ; Abide by the promise you gave us. So; the Prophet ﷺ handed him over to them. They took him out of the City till they reached Dhu AlHulaifa where they dismounted to eat some dates they had with them. Abu Basir said to one of them; By Allah; O so-and-so; I see you have a fine sword. The other drew it out of the scabbard and said; By Allah; it is very fine and I have tried it many times. Abu Basir said; Let me have a look at it. When the other gave it to him; he hit him with it till he died; and his companion ran away till he came to Medina and entered the Masjid running. When Allah Messenger ﷺ saw him he said; This man appears to have been frightened. When he reached the Prophet ﷺ he said; My companion has been murdered and I would have been murdered too. Abu Basir came and said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ; by Allah; Allah has made you fulfill your obligations by your returning me to them i.e. the Infidels ; but Allah has saved me from them. The Prophet ﷺ said; Woe to his mother! what excellent war kindler he would be; should he only have supporters. When Abu Basir heard that he understood that the Prophet ﷺ would return him to them again; so he set off till he reached the seashore. Abu Jandal Bin Suhail got himself released from them i.e. infidels and joined Abu Basir. So; whenever a man from Quraish embraced Islam he would follow Abu Basir till they formed a strong group. By Allah; whenever they heard about a caravan of Quraish heading towards Sham; they stopped it and attacked and killed them i.e. infidels and took their properties. The people of Quraish sent a message to the Prophet ﷺ requesting him for the Sake of Allah and Kith and kin to send for i.e. Abu Basir and his companions promising that whoever amongst them came to the Prophet ﷺ would be secure. So the Prophet ﷺ sent for them i.e. Abu Basir companions and Allah I revealed the following Divine Verses: And it is He Who Has withheld their hands from you and your hands From them in the midst of Mecca; After He made you the victorious over them.... the unbelievers had pride and haughtiness; in their hearts... the pride and haughtiness of the time of ignorance. 48.24-26 And their pride and haughtiness was that they did not confess write in the treaty that he i.e. Muhammad was the Prophet of Allah and refused to write: In the Name of Allah; the most Beneficent; the Most Merciful; and they the mushriks prevented them the Muslims from visiting the House the Kabah. | The Chapter on Quraish Arab Tribe in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The conditions of Jihad and peace treaties in Sahih AlBukhari

Umm Haram asked; What causes you to smile; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ? He said. Ishaq; a sub-narrator is not sure as to which expression the Prophet ﷺ used. Umm Haram said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Invoke Allah that he makes me one of them. He replied; Some of my followers were presented to me as fighters in Allah Cause; repeating the same dream. Umm Haram said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Invoke Allah that He makes me one of them. Abu Mousa said; O Allah Prophet! In our land there is an alcoholic drink prepared from barley called AlMizr; and another prepared from honey; called AlBit The Prophet ﷺ said; All intoxicants are prohibited. Then both of them proceeded and Muadh asked Abu Mousa; How do you recite the Quran? Abu Mousa replied; I recite it while I am standing; sitting or riding my riding animals; at intervals and piecemeal. Muadh said; But I sleep and then get up. I sleep and hope for Allah Reward for my sleep as I seek His Reward for my night prayer. Then he i.e. Muadh pitched a tent and they started visiting each other. The Prophet ﷺ entered upon me; and I said to him; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Aflah; the brother of Abi AlQuais asked permission to visit me but I refused to permit him unless I took your permission. The Prophet ﷺ said; What stopped you from permitting him? He is your uncle. I said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! The man was not the person who had nursed me; but the woman; the wife of Abi AlQuais had nursed me. He said; Admit him; for he is your uncle. SahihMuslim-017-001-17914 | It has been reported on the authority of Anas Bin Malik that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to visit Umm Haram daughter of Milhan who was the sister of his foster-mother or his father aunt. She was the wife of Ubada Bin Samit; One day the Messenger of Allah ﷺ paid her a visit. She entertained him with food and then sat down to rub his head. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ dozed off and when he woke up after a while ; he was laughing. She asked: What made you laugh. Messenger of Allah? He said: Some people from my Umma were presented to me who were fighters in the way of Allah and were sailing in this sea. Gliding smoothly on the water ; they appeared to be kings or like kings sitting on thrones the narrator has a doubt about the actual expression used by the Holy Prophet. She said: Messenger of Allah; pray to Allah that He may include me among these warriors. He prayed for her. Then he placed his head down and dozed off again. He woke up laughing; as before. She said I said: Messenger of Allah; what makes you laugh? He replied: A people from my Umma were presented to me. They were fighters in Allah way. He described them in the same words as he had described the first warriors. She said: Messenger of Allah; pray to God that He may include me among these warriors. He said: You are among the first ones. Umm Haram daughter of Milhan sailed in the aea in the time of Muawiya. SahihMuslim-017-001-18043 | It is narrated on the authority of Urwa Bin AlZubair who narrated from Aisha that she informed him that Fatima; daughter of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; sent someone to Abu Bakr to demand from him her share of the legacy left by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from what Allah had bestowed upon him at Medina and Fadak and what was left from one-filth of the income annually received from Khaibar. Abu Bakr said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: We prophets do not have any heirs; what we leave behind is to be given in charity. The household of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ will live on the income from these properties; but; by Allah; I will not change the charity of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from the condition in which it was in his own time. I will do the same with it as the Messenger of Allah may peace be upun him himself used to do. So Abu Bakr refused to hand over anything from it to Fatima who got angry with Abu Bakr for this reason. She forsook him and did not talk to him until the end of her life. She lived for six months after the death of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. When she died; her husband. Ali Bin Abu Talib; buried her at night. He did not inform Abu Bakr about her death and offered the funeral prayer over her himself. During the lifetime of Fatima; All received special regard from the people. After she had died; he felt estrangement in the faces of the people towards him. So he sought to make peace with Abu Bakr and offer his allegiance to him. He had not yet owed allegiance to him as Caliph during these months. He sent a person to Abu Bakr requesting him to visit him unaccompanied by anyone disapproving the presence of Umar. Umar said to Abu Bakr: BY Allah; you will not visit them alone. Abu Bakr said: What will they do to me? By Allah; I will visit them. And he did pay them a visit alone. All recited Tashahhud as it is done in the beginning of a religious sermon ; then said: We recognise your moral excellence and what Allah has bestowed upon you. We do not envy the favour i. e. the Catiphate which Allah nas conferred upon you; but you have done it assumed the position of Caliph alone without consulting us ; and we thought we had a right to be consulted on account of our kinship with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He continued to talk to Abu Bakr in this vein until the latter eyes welled up with tears. Then Abd Bakr spoke and said: By Allah; in Whose Hand is my life; the kinship of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is dearer to me than the kinship of my own people. As regards the dispute that has arisen between you and me about these properties; I have not deviated from the right course and I have not given up doing about them what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to do. So Ali said to Abu Bakr: This aftetnoon is fixed for swearing allegiance to you. So when Abu Bakr had finished his Zuhr prayer; he ascended the pulpit and recited Tashahhud; and described the status of Ali; his delay in swearing allegiance and the excuse which lie had offered to him for this delay. After this he asked for God forgiveness. Then Ali Bin Abu Talib recited the Tashahhud. extolled the merits of Abu Bakr and said that his action was nott prompted by any jealousy of Abu Bakr on his part or his refusal to accept the high position which Allah had conferred upon him; adding: But we were of the opinion that we should have a share in the government; but the matter had been decided without taking us into confidence; and this displeased us. Hence the delay in offering allegiance. The Muslims were pleased with this explanation and they said: You have done the right thing. The Muslims were again favourably inclined to Ali since he adopted the proper course of action. | The Chapter on Oaths And Pledges And Charity in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 16 in Sahih Muslim

So he went to Hafsa and stayed with her more than what was his usual stay. I Aisha asked about that. It was said to me: A woman of her family had sent her a small vessel of honey as a gift; and she gave to Allah Messenger ﷺ from that a drink. I said: By Allah; we would also contrive a device for him. I mentioned that to Sauda; and said: When he Allah Apostle would visit you and draw close to you; say to him: Allah Messenger; have you taken maghafir? And he wouldsay to you: No. Then say to him: What is this odour? And Allah Messenger ﷺ felt it very much that unpleasant odour should emit from him. So he would say to you: Hafsa has given me a drink of honey. Then you should say to him: The honey-bees might have sucked Urfut; and I would also say the same to him and. Safiya; you should also say this. So when he the Holy Prophet came to Sauda; she said: By Him besides whom there is no god; it was under compulsion that I had decided to state that which you told me when he would be at a little distance at the door. So when Allah Messenger ﷺ came near; she said: Messenger of Allah; did you eat Maghafir? He said: No. She again said: Then what is this odour? He said: Hafsa gave me honey to drink. She said: The honey-bee might have sucked Urfut. When he came to me I told him like this. He then visited Safiya and she also said to him like this. When he again visited Hafsa; she said: Messenger of Allah; should I not give you that drink ? He said: I do not need that. SahihMuslim-017-001-21520 | Ibn Abbas Allah be pleased with them reported. I had always been anxious to ask Umar Allah be pleased with him about the two ladies amongst the wives of Allah Prophet may peace be upon Lim about whom Allah; the Exalted; said: If you both turn in repentance to Allah; then indeed your hearts are inclined to this Ixvi. 4 ; until Umar Allah be pleased with him set out for Hajj and I also went along with him. And as we were going along a path; Umar Allah be pleased with hiyn went Aasi de and I also went Aasi de with him with a jug of water. He answered the call of nature; and then came to me and I poured water over his hands and he performed ablution I said: Commander of the Faithful; who are the two ladies amongst the wives of Allah Prophet ﷺ about whom Allah; the Exalted and Majestic; said: If you both turn to Allah in repentance; then indeed your heart are inclined to it? Umar Allah he pleased with him said: How strange is it for you; Ibn Abbas! Zuhri said: By Allah; he disliked what he asked about; but did not keep it a secret. He Umar said: They are Hafsa and Aisha; and he then began to narrate the hadith and said: We were such people among the Quraish who dominated women; and as we reached Medina we found there people who were dominated by their women; and our women began to learn the habits of their women. He further said: And my house was situated in the suburb of Aledina in the tribe of Banu Umaya Bin Zaid. One day I became angry with my wife and she retorted upon me. I did not like that she should retort upon me. She said: You disapprove of my retorting upon you By Allah; the wives of Allah Apostle ﷺ retort upon him; and one of them detaches herself from him for the day until the night. So I Umar went out and visited Hafsa and said: Do you retort upon Allah Messenger ﷺ ? She said: Yes. I said; Does any one of you detach herself from him from the day to the night? She said: Yes. He said: She who did like it amongst you in fact failed and incurred loss. Does everyone amongst you not fear the wrath of Allah upon her due to the wrath of His Messenger ﷺ ; and as a result thereof she may perish? So do not retort upon Allah Messenger ﷺ and do not ask him for anything; but ask me that which you desire; and the frank behaviour of your companion may not mislead you; if she is more graceful and is dearer to Allah Messenger ﷺ than you meaning Aisha Allah be pleased with her. He Hadrat Umar further said: I had a compalaion from the Ansar and; we used to remain in the company of the Messenger ﷺ turn by turn. He remained there for a day while I remained there on the other day; and he brought me the news about the revelation and other matter ; and I brought him the news like this. And we discussed that the Ghassanids were shoeing the horses in order to attack us. Id y companion once attended the Apostle. and then came to me at night and knocked at my door and called me; and I came out to him; and he said: A matter of great importance has happened. I said: What is that? Have the Ghassanids come? He said: No; but even more serious and more significant than that: the Prophet ﷺ has divorced his wives. I said: Hafsa has failed and has incurred loss. and I feared that it would happen. When it was dawn I observed the dawn prayer and dressed myself; and then came there in the house of the Holy Prophet and visited Hafsa; and she was weeping. I said: Has Allah Messenger ﷺ divorced you all ? She said: I do not know. He has; however; separated himself in his attic. I came to a black servant and said to him: Seek permission for Umar. He went in and then came to me and said: I made mention of you to him; but he kept quiet. I then went to the pulpit and sat there; and there was a group of people sitting by it and some of then were weeping. I sat there for some time; until I was overpowered by that very idea which was in my mind. I then came back to the boy and said to him: Seek permission for Umar. He went in and came to me and said: I made mention of you to him but he kept quiet. I was about to turn back when the boy called me and said: Go in; permission has been granted to you. I went in and greeted Allah Messenger ﷺ and he was reclining against the couch of mat and it had left its marks upon his side. I said: Messenger of Allah; have you divorced your wives? He raised his head towards me and said: No. I said: Allah is the Greatest. Messenger of Allah; I wish if you had seen how we the people of Quraish had domination over women but when we came to Medina we found people whom their women dominated. So our women began to learn from their women. One dily I became angry with my wife and she began to retort upon me. I did not approve that she should retort upon me. She said: You do not like that I should retort upon you; but; by Allah. the wives of Allah Apostle ﷺ retort upon him and any one of them separates herself from him for a day until night. I said: He who did that amongst them in fact failed and incurred loss. Does any of them feel sate from the wrath of Allahupon her due to the wrath of Allah Messenger ﷺ ; and she has certainly perished. Allah Messtnger ﷺ smiled; I said: Messenger of Allah; I visited Hafsa and said: The behaviour of your companion Aisha may not mislead you; If she is more graceful than you and is dearer to Allah Messenger ﷺ than you. Allah Messenger ﷺ smiled for the second time. I said: Allah Messenger; way I talk to you about agreeable things? He said: Yes. I sat down and lifted my head to see things in the house and; by Allah; I did not see anything significant besides three hides. I said: Messenger of Allah; supplicate the Lord that He should make life prosperous for your Ummah as He has made plentiful for the people of Persia and Rome in spite of the fact that they do no; worship Allah; the Exalted and Majestic; whereupon he Allah Messenger sat up an I then said: Ibn AlKhattab; do you doubt that they are a nation whom their nice things have been given immediately in the life of this world. I said: Allah Messenger! seek pardon for me. And he Allah Messenger had taken an oath that he would not visit them for a month due to extreme annoyance with them until Allah showed His displeasure to him Allah Messenger. Zuhri said: Urwa informed me that AIsha Allah be pleased with her said: When twenty-nine nights were over; Allah Messenger ﷺ visited me; and he began his visit with me. I said: Messenger of Allah; you had taken an oath that you would not visit us for a month; while you have visited after I have counted only twenty-nine nights. Thereupon he said: The month may also be of twenty-nine days. He then said: Aisha; I am going to talk to you about a matter; and you should not be hasty in it and do not give your final decision until you have consulted your parents. He then recited this verse to me: O Prophet; say to your wives till he reached mighty reward xxxiii. 28. Aisha Allah be pleased with her said: By Allah; he knew that my parents would not allow me to separate from him. I said: Is there any need to consult my parents in this matter? I in fact choose Allah and His Messenger ﷺ and the abode in the Hereafter. Mamar said: Ayoub reported to me that Aisha said: Dont inform your wives that I have chosen you; whereupon Allah Apostle ﷺ said: Verily Allah has sent me as a conveyer of message; and He has not sent me as a source of hardship to others. Khalid Bin Walid along with a group of persons visited Allah Messenger ﷺ in the house of Maimuna and they said: Abu Hafs has divorced his wife with three pronouncements; is there any maintenance allowance due to her? Thereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said: No maintenance allowance is due to her; but she is required to spend the Idda; and he sent her the message that she should not be hasty in making a decision about herself and commanded her to move to the house of Umm Sharik; and then sent her the message that as the first immigrants frequently visit the house of Umm Sharik; she should better go to the house of Ibn Umm Maktum; the blind; and further said: In case you put off your head-dress; he Ibn Umm Makhtum will not see you. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-24900 | Aisha wife of the Prophet ﷺ and Umm Salamah said Abu Hudaifah Bin Utbah Bin Rabiah Bin Abd Shams adopted Salim as his son and married him to his niece Hind; daughter of AlWalid Bin Utbah Bin Rabiah. He Salim was the freed slave of a woman from the Ansar the Helpers as the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ adopted Zaid as his son. In pre Islamic days when anyone adopted a man as his son; the people called him by his name and he was given a share from his inheritance. Allaah; the Exalted; revealed about this matter Call them by the name of their fathers; that is juster in the sight of Allaah. And if ye know not their fathers; then they are your brethren in the faith and your clients. They were then called by their names of their fathers. A man; whose father was not known; remained under the protection of someone and considered brother in faith. Sahlah daughter of Suhail Bin Amr AlQuraishi then came and said Apostle of Allaah ﷺ ; we used to consider Salim our son. He dwelled with me and Abu Hudhaifah in the same house; and he saw me in the short clothes; but Allaah the Exalted; has revealed about them what you know; then what is your opinion about him? The Prophet ﷺ said give him your breast feed. She gave him five breast feeds. He then became like her foster son. Hence; Aisha may Allaah be pleased with her used to ask the daughters of her sisters and the daughters of her brethren to give him breast feed five times; whom Aisha wanted to see and who wanted to visit her. Though he might be of age; he then visited her. But Umm Salamah and all other wives of the Prophet ﷺ refused to allow anyone to visit them on the basis of such breast feeding unless one was given breast feed during infancy. They told Aisha by Allaah we do not know whether that was a special concession granted by the Prophet ﷺ to Salim exclusive of the people. | The Chapter on Family And Honor in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on About Who Was Made Prohibited Through Adult Fosterage in Sunan Abu Dawoud

MuwataMalik-017-001-35383 | Yahya related to me from Malik from Rabia Ibn Abi Abdulrahman that Abu Said alKhudri returned from a journey and his family gave him some meat. He asked whether it was meat from the sacrifice. They replied that it was. Abu Said said; Didnt the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; forbid that? They said; There has been a new command from the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; since you went away. Abu Said went out and made enquiries about it and was told that the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; had said;I forbade you before to eat meat of the sacrifice after three days; but now eat; give sadaqa and store up. I forbade you before to make nabidh by soaking raisins or dates in water ; but now make nabidh; but remember every intoxicant is haram.I forbade you to visit graves; but now visit them; and do not use bad language. | The Chapter on Forbidden Gold Utensils in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Jihad in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35463 | Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab from Amra bint Abdulrahman that when Aisha was doing itikaf she would only ask after sick people if she was walking and not if she was standing still. Malik said; A person doing itikaf should not carry out obligations of his; nor leave the Masjid for them; nor should he help anyone. He should only leave the Masjid to relieve himself. If he were able to go out to do things for people; visiting the sick; praying over the dead and following funeral processions would be the things with the most claim on his coming out. Malik said; A person doing itikaf is not doing itikaf until he avoids what some one doing itikaf should avoid; namely; visiting the sick; praying over the dead; and entering houses; except to relieve himself. | The Chapter on Ramadan And Fasting And Kabah in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Divorce in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35471 | Malik said; There is no harm in someone who is in itikaf entering into a marriage contract as long as there is no physical relationship. A woman in itikaf may also be betrothed as long as there is no physical relationship. What is haram for someone in itikaf in relation to his womenfolk during the day is haram for him during the night. Yahya said that Ziyad said that Malik said; It is not halal for a man to have intercourse with his wife while he is in itikaf; nor for him to take pleasure in her by kissing her; or whatever. However; I have not heard anyone disapproving of a man; or woman; in itikaf getting married as long as there is no physical relationship. Marriage is not disapproved of for someone fasting. There is; however; a distinction between the marriage of someone in itikaf and that of someone who is muhrim; in that some one who is muhrim can eat; drink; visit the sick and attend funerals; but cannot put on perfume; whilst a man or woman in itikaf can put on oil and perfume and groom their hair; but cannot attend funerals or pray over the dead or visit the sick. Thus their situations with regard to marriage are different. This is the sunna as it has come down to us regarding marriage for those who are muhrim; doing itikaf; or fasting. | The Chapter on Ramadan And Fasting And Kabah in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Divorce in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35491 | Yahya related to me from Malik from Sumay; the mawla of Abu Bakr Ibn Abdulrahman Ibn AlHarith Ibn Hisham that he heard Abu Bakr Ibn Abdulrahman Ibn AlHarith Ibn Hisham say; My father and I were with Marwan Ibn AlHakam at the time when he was amir of Madina; and someone mentioned to him that Abu Huraira used to say; If someone begins the morning junub; he has broken the fast for that day. Marwan said; I swear to you; Abdar-Rahman; you must go to the two umm Almuminin; Aisha and Umm Salamah; and ask them about it. Abdulrahman went to visit Aisha and I accompanied him. He greeted her and then said; Umm Almuminin; we were with Marwan Ibn AlHakam and someone mentioned to him that Abu Huraira used to say that if some one had begun the morning junub; he had broken the fast for that day. Aisha said; It is not as Abu Huraira says Abdulrahman Do you dislike what the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; used to do?; and Abdulrahman said; No; by Allah. Aisha said; I bear witness that the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; used to get up in the morning junub from intercourse; not a dream; and would then fast for that day. He continued; Then we went and visited Umm Salamah; and Abdulrahman asked her about the same matter and she said the same as Aisha had said. Then we went off until we came to Marwan Ibn AlHakam Abdulrahman told him what they had both said and Marwan said; I swear to you; Abu Muhammad; you must use the mount which is at the door; and go to Abu Huraira; who is on his land at AlAqiq; and tell him this. So Abdulrahman rode off; and I went with him; until we came to Abu Huraira. Abdulrahman talked with him for a while; and then mentioned the matter to him; and Abu Huraira said; I dont know anything about it. I was just told that by someone. | The Chapter on Adhan And Iqama And Fasting in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Divorce in Muwata Malik |
