SahihMuslim-017-001-17703 | It has been reported on the authority of Abu Mousa who said: I went to the Prophet ﷺ and with me were two men from the Ashari tribe. One of them was on my right hand and the other on my left. Both of them made a request for a position of authority while the Prophet ﷺ was brushing his teeth with a tooth-stick. He said to me : Abu Mousa or Abdullah Bin Qais ; what do you say about the request they have made ? I said: By God Who sent thee on thy mission with truth; they did not disclose to me what they had in their minds; and I did not know that they would ask for a position. The narrator says while recalling this hadith : I visualise as if I were looking at the miswak of the Prophet ﷺ between his lips. He the Holy Prophet said: We shall not or shall never appoint to the public offices in our State those who with to have them; but you may go; Abu Mousa or Abdullah Bin Qais to take up your assignment. He sent him to Yemen as governor. then he sent Muadh Bin jabal in his wake to help him in the discharge of duties. When Muadh reached the camp of Abu Mousa; the latter received him and said: Please get yourself down; and he spread for him a mattress; while there was a man bound hand and foot as a prisoner. Muadh said: Who is this? Abu Mousa said: He was a Jew. He embraced Islam. Then he reverted to his false religion and became a Jew. Muadh said: I wont sit until he is killed according to the decree of Allah and His Apostle ﷺ in this case. Abu Mousa said: Be seated. It will be done. He said: I wont sit unless he is killed in accordance with the decree of Allah and His Apostle ﷺ. He repeated these words thrice. Then Abu Mousa ordered him to be killed and he was kilied. Then the two talked of standing in prayer at night. One of them; i. e. Muadh; said: I sleep for a part of the night and stand in prayer for a part and I hope that I shall get the same reward for steeping as I shall get for standing in prayer. | The Chapter on Jihad And Alhajj in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 3 in Sahih Muslim

Verily I saw as if a pillar had been raised in a green garden and there had been fixed at its upper end a handhold and there was a helper at its base. It was said to me: Climb up. He was telling good things to them to the people sitting in that company. As he stood up to depart the people said: He who is desirous of looking at a person from amongst the people of Paradise should see him. I said: By Allah; I will follow him; and would try to know his residence. So I followed him and he walked on until he reached the outskirts of Medina. He then entered his house. I sought permission from him to get in; and he granted me the permission; saying: My nephew; what is the need that has brought you here ? I said to him: As you stood up; I heard people say about you: He who is desirous of seeing a person from among the people of Paradise should look at him. So I became desirous of accompanying you. He Abdullah Bin Salim said: It is Allah Who knows best about the people of Paradise. I would; however; narrate to you as to why they said like it. The story is that while I was asleep one night there came to me a person in the dream who asked me to stand up. So I stood up and he caught hold of my hand and I walked along with him; and; lo; I found some paths on my left and I was about to set out upon them. Thereupon he said to me Do not set yourself on them for these are the paths of the leftists denizens of Hell-fire. Then there were paths leading to the right side; whereupon he said: Set yourself on these paths. We came across a hill and he said to me: Climb up; and I attempted to climb up that I fell upon my buttocks. I made several attempts but failed to succeed. He led until he came to a pillar so high that its upper end touched the sky and its base was in the earth. And there was a handhold at its upper end. He said to me Climb over it. I said: How can I climb upon it; as its upper end touches the sky? He cought hold of my hand and pushed me up and I found myself suspended with the handhold. He then struck the pillar and it fell down; but I remained attached to that handhold until it was morning and the dream was thus over. I came to Allah Apostle ﷺ and narrated it to him. He said: So far as the paths which you saw on your left are concerned; these are paths of the leftists denizens of Hell and the paths which you saw on your right; these are the paths of the rightists the dwellers of Paradise and the mountain represents the destination of the martyrs which you would not be able to attain. He then lifted his head towards the sky and it often happened that as he lifted his head towards the sky; he said: The stars are a source of security for the sky and when the stars disappear there comes to the sky; i. e. it meets the same fate as it has been promised it would plunge into darkness. And I am a source of safety and security to my Companions and when I would go away there would fall to the lot of my Companions as they have been promised with and my Companions are a source of security for the Umma and as they would go there would fall to the lot of my Umma as its people have been promised. | The Chapter on Rain And Clouds And Heaven in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 51 in Sahih Muslim

He said: So my mother; Umm Sulaim prepared some Hais in a Tawr a vessel made of brass and stone and said: O Anas! Take this to the Prophet ﷺ. I said to him: My mother sent this to you; and she conveys her Salam; and says: This is a little something from us for you. He said: Put it down. Then he said: Go and invite so-and-so; so-and-so; and so-and-so for me; and whomever you meet. He named some people; and said: I invited those he named; and whomever I met. - He AlJad said: I said to Anas: How many of you were there? He said: Roughly about three-hundred. - He Anas said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me: O Anas! Bring me the Tawr. He said: They entered until the Suffah a shaded part of the Masjid in AlMadinah and the apartment were full. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Let groups of ten in; and let each person eat what is near him. He said: They ate until they were full. He said: A group exited; and another group entered; until all of them ate. He said: He said to me: O Anas! Remove it. He said: So I took it. I could not tell if there was more when I first put it down; or when I picked it up. He said: Groups of them sat talking in the house of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his wife sat facing the wall. They began to be burdensome on the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out to greet his women folk; then he returned; they realized that they had overburdened him; so they hastened for the gate and all of them exited. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came until he lowered the curtain; and entered while I was sitting in the apartment. He did not remain there long before he left me; and these Ayat were revealed. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out to recite them to the people: O you who believe! Do not enter the Prophet house unless permission is given to you for a meal; not to wait for its preparation. But when you are invited; enter; and when you have taken your meals; dispense without sitting for a talk. He made Abu Huraira accessible to me; so I sat with him and said to him: Indeed; I asked Allah to make it easy for me to sit with who is righteous; and it is to you that I was guided. So he said to me: From where are you? I said: From the people of AlKufah; I came to search out good and to seek it. So he said: Is there not among you Saad Bin Malik whose supplication is answered; Ibn Masud; the one who used to carry the water for purification and the sandals of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; and Hudhaifah; the keeper of the secrets of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; and Ammar whom Allah has guarded from Shaitan upon the tongue of His Prophet; and Salman the companion of the Two Books? | The Chapter on in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Chapters on Virtues in Sunan AlTermithi
SunanAlTermithi-017-001-9018 | Narrated Aisha: I have not seen anyone closer in conduct; way; and manners to that of the Messenger of Allah in regards to standing and sitting; than Fatimah the daughter of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. She said Whenever she would enter upon the Prophet ﷺ he would stand to her and kiss her; and he would sit her in his sitting place. Whenever the Prophet ﷺ entered upon her she would stand from her seat; and kiss him and sit him in her sitting place. So when the Prophet ﷺ fell sick and Fatimah entered; she bent over and kissed him. Then she lifted her head and cried; then she bent over him and she lifted her head and laughed. So I said: I used to think that this one was from the most intelligent of our women; but she is really just one of the women. So when the Prophet ﷺ died; I said to her: Do you remember when you bent over the Prophet ﷺ and you lifted your head and cried; then you bent over him; then you lifted your head and laughed. What caused you to do that? She said: Then; I would be the one who spreads the secrets. He ﷺ told me that he was to die from his illness; so I cried. Then he told me that I would be the quickest of his family to meet up with him. So that is when I laughed. | The Chapter on Good Manners And Sitting Calmly in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Chapters on Virtues in Sunan AlTermithi

They said; By Allah; nothing caused us to gather for this sitting except for that. He said: Indeed; I did not ask you out of suspicion; and there was no one in the position I was from the Messenger of Allah who narrates less Ahadith from him than me. Indeed the Messenger of Allah came out upon a circle of his Companions and said: what has caused you to gather for this sitting? They said: We have gathered for this sitting to remember Allah; and praise Him for His having guided us to Islam; and having bestowed blessings upon us. So he said: By Allah; nothing caused you to gather for this sitting except for that? SunanAlTermithi-017-001-9830 | Another chain from Adi Bin Hatim who said: I went to the Prophet ﷺ while he was sitting in the Masjid; the people said: This is Adi Bin Hatim. And I came without having a treaty nor a writ. When I was brought to him; he took my hand. Prior to that he had said: I hope that Allah will place his hand in my hand. He said: He stood with me; and a woman and a boy met him and said: We have a need from you. He stood with them; until he was finished dealing with what they wanted. Then he took me by the hand until he brought me to his house. A slave girl brought him a cushion to sit on; and I sat in front of him. He expressed thanks and praise for Allah then said: What has caused you to flee from saying La Ilaha Illallah? Do you know of another god other than Him? He said: I said: No. He said: Then he talked for some time; and then said: You refuse to say Allahu Akbar because you know that there is something greater than Allah? He said: I said: No. He said: Indeed the Jews are those who Allah is wrath with; and the Christians have strayed. He said: I said: Indeed I am a Muslim; Hanif. He said: I saw his face smiling with happiness. He said: Then he ordered that I stop with him at the home of a man from the Ansar; whom he would frequently visit in the mornings and the evenings. When I was with him at night; a people in woolen garments of these Nimar a cloth with certain patters; and the word appeared before came. Then he performed Prayer and stood to encourage them the people to give charity to them. Then he said: Even with a Sa or half a Sa; or a handful or part of a handful; to save the face of one of you from the heat of Hell; or the Fire. And even if it be by a date or a part of a date - for indeed one of you shall meet Allah and it shall be said to him what I say to you: Have I not given hearing and seeing to you? He shall say: Of course. It will be said: Have I not given you wealth and children? He shall say: Of course. It will be said: So where is what you have sent forth for yourself? He will look before him and behind him; on his right and on his left; but he shall not find anything to protect his face from the heat of Hell. Let one of you protect his face from the Fire; even if with part of a date; and if he does not find that; then with a good statement. For indeed I do not fear poverty for you - Allah will aid you and grant you; such that a woman can travel on her camel howda from Yathrib to AlHirah; or further; without fear of being robbed. So the following was revealed: Not equal are those of the believers who sit except those who are disabled. But Allah has preferred those who strive hard and fight above those who sit at home by a huge reward 4:95. He sits waiting for him; in the path to Islam; and he says: Will you accept Islam; and leave your religion; and the religion of your forefathers? But he disobeys him and accepts Islam. Then he sits waiting for him; on the path to emigration; and he says: Will you emigrate and leave behind your land and sky? The one who emigrates is like a horse tethered to a peg. But he disobeys him and emigrates. Then he sits; waiting for him; on the path to Jihad; and he says: Will you fight in Jihad when it will cost you your life and your wealth? You will fight and be killed; and your wife will remarry; and your wealth will be divided. But he disobeys him and fights in Jihad. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Whoever does that; then he had a right from Allah; the Mighty and Sublime; that He will admit him to paradise. SunanAlNasai-017-001-15550 | It was narrated from Saad Bin Hisham that: He met Ibn Abbas and asked him about Witr. He said: Shall I not lead you to one who knows best among the people of the world about the witr of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ? He said: Yes. Ibn Abbas said: It is Aishah. So go to her and ask her about witr and then come back to me and tell me the answer that she gives you. So I went to Hakim Bin Aflah and asked him to go accompany me to her. He said: I shall not go to her; for I told her not to say anything about these two conflicting groups; but she refused to accept my advice and went on to participate in the conflict. I swore an oath; beseeching him to take me to her. So he came with me and went unto her. She said to Hakim: Who is this with you? He said: He is Saad Bin Hisham. She said: Which Hisham? He said: Ibn Amir. She supplicated for mercy for him and said: What a good man Amir was. He said: O Mother of the Believers; tell me about the character of the Messenger of Allah. She said: Dont you read the Quran? I said: Yes. She said The character of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was the Quran. He said: I wanted to get up and leave ; then I thought of the Qiyam night prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: Tell me about the Qiyam of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. She said: Do you not recite this surah: O you wrapped in garments? I said: Yes. She said: Allah; the Mighty and Sublime; made Qiyam AlLail obligatory at the beginning of this surah; so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his companions prayed Qiyam AlLail for one year. Allah SWT withheld the latter part of this surah for twelve months; then he revealed the lessening of this duty at the end of this surah; so Qiyam AlLail became voluntary after it had been obligatory. I felt inclined to stand up and not ask anything further ; then I thought of the witr of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I said: O Mother of the Believers; tell me about the witr of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. She said: We used to prepare his siwak and water for his ablution; and Allah SWT would wake him when He wished during the night. He would use the siwak; perform ablution; and then pray eight rakahs in which he would not sit until he reached the eighth one. Then he would sit and remember Allah SWT and supplicate; then he would say the taslim that we could hear. Then he would pray two rakas sitting after uttering the taslim; then he would pray one rakah; and that made eleven rakahs; O my son! When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ grew older and put on weight; he prayed witr with seven rakahs; then he prayed two rakahs sitting down after saying the taslim; and that made nine rakahs. O my son; when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ offered a prayer; he liked to continue to offer it; and when sleep; sickness; or pain distracted him from praying Qiyam AlLail; he would pray twelve rakahs during the day. I am not aware of the Prophet of Allah ﷺ having recited the whole Quran during a single night; or praying through the whole night until morning; or fasting a complete month; except Ramadan. In the middle of the night; he would get up to relieve himself and go to his water for purification and perform Ablution. Then he went into the Masjid and prayed eight rakahs. I think he made the recitation; bowing and prostration equal in length. Then he prayed one rakah of witr; then he prayed two rakahs sitting down. Then he lay down on his side. Sometimes Bilal would come and tell him that it was time to pray before he napped; and sometimes he napped. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-24686 | Narrated Saad Bin Hisham: I divorced my wife. I then came to Medina to sell my land that was there so that I could buy arms and fight in battle. I met a group of the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ. They said: Six persons of us intended to do so i.e. divorce their wives and purchase weapons ; but the Prophet ﷺ prohibited them. He said: For you in the Messenger of Allah there is an excellent model. I then came to Ibn Abbas and asked him about the witr observed by the Prophet ﷺ. He said: I point to you a person who is most familiar with the witr observed by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Go to Aishah. While going to her I asked Hakim Bin Aflah to accompany me. He refused; but I adjured him. He; therefore; went along with me. We sought permission to enter upon Aishah. She said: Who is this ? He said: Hakim Bin Aflah. She asked: Who is with you ? He replied: Saad Bin Hisham. She said: Hisham son of Amir who was killed in the Battle of Uhud. I said: Yes. She said: What a good man Amir was! I said: Mother of faithful; tell me about the character of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. She asked: Do you not recite the Quran ? The character of Messenger of Allah ﷺ was the Quran. I asked: Tell me about his vigil and prayer at night. She replied: Do you not recite: O thou folded in garments 73:1. I said: Why not ?When the opening of this Surah was revealed; the Companions stood praying most of the night until their fett swelled; and the concluding verses were not revealed for twelve months from heaven. At last the concluding verses were revealed and the prayer at night became voluntary after it was obligatory. I said: Tell me about the witr of the Prophet ﷺ. She replied: He used to pray eight rakahs; sitting only during the eighth of them. Then he would stand up and pray another rakahs. He would sit only after the eighth and the ninth rakahs. He would utter salutation only after the ninth rakah. He would then pray two rakahs sitting and that made eleven rakahs; O my son. But when he grew old and became fleshy he observed a witr of seven; sitting only in sixth and seventh rakahs; and would utter salutation only after the seventh rakah. He would then pray two rakahs sitting; and that made nine rakahs; O my son. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would not pray through a whole night; or recite the whole Quran in a night or fast a complete month except in Ramadan. When he offered prayer; he would do that regularly. When he was overtaken by sleep at night; he would pray twelve rakahs. The narrator said: I came to Ibn Abbas and narrated all this to him. By Allah; this is really a tradition. He would sit; make mention of Allah; supplicate Him and then utter the salutation so loudly that we could hear it. He would then pray two rakahs sitting after he had uttered the salutation. Then he would pray one rakah; and that made eleven rakahs; O my son. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-24690 | Narrated Aisha; Ummul Muminin: Zurarah Ibn Awuf a said that Aisha was asked about the midnight prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. She said: He used to offer his night prayer in congregation and then return to his family in his house and pray four rakahs. Then he would go to his bed and sleep; but the water for his ablution was placed covered near his head and his tooth-stick was also kept there until Allah awakened him at night. He then used the tooth-stick; performed ablution perfectly then came to the place of prayer and would pray eight rakahs; in which he would recite Surah AlFatihah; and a surah from the Quran as Allah willed. He would not sit during any of them but sit after the eighth rakah; and would not utter the salutation; but recite the Quran during the ninth rakah. Then he would sit and supplicate as long as Allah willed; and beg Him and devote his attention to Him; He would utter the salutation once in such a loud voice that the inmates of the house were almost awakened by his loud salutation. He would then recite Surah AlFatihah while sitting; bow while sitting; and then recite the Quran during the second rakah; and would bow and prostrate while sitting. He would supplicate Allah as long as He willed; then utter the salutation and turn away. This amount of prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ continued till he put a weight. During that period he retrenched two rakahs from nine and began to pray six and seven rakahs standing and two rakahs sitting. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-25013 | Narrated Abu Huraira: Abu Nadrah reported: An old man of Tufawah said to me: I was a guest of Abu Huraira at Medina. I did not find any one of the companions of the Prophet ﷺ more devoted to worship and more hospitable than Abu Huraira. One day I was with him when he was sitting on his bed. He had a purse which contained pebbles or kernels. A black slave-girl of his was sitting below. Counting them he was glorifying Allah. When the pebbles or the kernels in the purse were finished; she gathered them and put them again in the purse; and gave it to him. He said: Should I not tell you about me and about the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ? I said: Yes. He said: Once when I was laid up with fever in the Masjid; the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came and entered the Masjid; and said: Who saw the youth of AlDaws. He said this three times. A man said: Messenger of Allah; there he is; laid up with fever on one side of the Masjid. He moved; walking forward till he reached me. He placed his hand on me. He had a kind talk with me; and I rose. He then began to walk till he reached the place where he used to offer his prayer. He paid his attention to the people. There were two rows of men and one row of women; or two rows of women and one row of men the narrator is doubtful. He then said: If Satan makes me forget anything during the prayer; the men should glorify Allah; and the women should clap their hands. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then prayed and he did not forget anything during the prayer. He said: Be seated in your places; be seated in your places. The narrator; Mousa; added the word here. He then praised Allah and exalted Him; and said: Now to our topic. The agreed version begins: He then said: Is there any man among you who approaches his wife; closes the door; covers himself with a curtain; and he is concealed with the curtain of Allah? They replied: Yes. He said: later he sits and says: I did so-and-so; I did so-and-so. The people kept silence. He then turned to the women and said to them : Is there any woman among you who narrates it? They kept silence. Then a girl fell on one of her knees. The narrator; Muammil; said in his version: a buxom girl. She raised her head before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ so that he could see her and listen to her. She said: Messenger of Allah; they the men describe the secrets of intercourse and they the women also describe the secrets of intercourse to the people. He said: Do you know what the similitude is? He said: The likeness of this act is the likeness of a female Satan who meets the male Satan on the roadside; he fulfils his desire with her while the people are looking at him. Beware! The perfume of men is that whose smell becomes visible and its colour does not appear. Beware! The perfume of women is that whose colour becomes visible and whose smell is not obvious. Abu Dawud said: From here I remembered this tradition from Muammil and Mousa: Beware! No man should lie with another man; no woman should lie with another woman except with one child or father. He also mentioned a third which I have forgotten. This has been mentioned in the version of Mousaddad; but I do not remember it as precisely as I like. Abu Huraira said: Cast lots for him; saying it to her in a foreign language. Then her husband came and asked: Who is disputing with me about my son? Abu Huraira said: O Allah; I do not say this; except that I heard a woman who came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while I was sitting with him; and she said: My husband wishes to take away my son; Messenger of Allah; and he draws water for me from the well of Abu Inabah; and he has been good to me. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Cast lots for him. Her husband said: Who is disputing with me about my son? But he the Prophet turned his attention from him. He then came to him from his left side and repeated the same words. But he again turned his attention from him. He then came to him from behind. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ took it and threw it away. Had it hit him; it would have hurt him or wounded him. Abu Dawud said: I am not quite confident about the word anan. He asked: Do you know the distance between Heaven and Earth? They replied: We do not know. He then said: The distance between them is seventy-one; seventy-two; or seventy-three years. The heaven which is above it is at a similar distance going on till he counted seven heavens. Above the seventh heaven there is a sea; the distance between whose surface and bottom is like that between one heaven and the next. The version of Jabir adds here: He hears the beat of their sandals when they go back; and at that moment he is asked: O so and so! Who is your Lord; what is your religion; and who is your Prophet? Hannad version says: Two angels will come to him; make him sit up and ask him: Who is your Lord? He will reply: My Lord is Allah. They will ask him: What is your religion? He will reply: My religion is Islam. They will ask him: What is your opinion about the man who was sent on a mission among you? He will reply: He is the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. They will ask: Who made you aware of this? He will reply: I read Allah Book; believed in it; and considered it true; which is verified by Allah words: Allah Book; believed in it; and considered it true; which is verified by Allah words: Allah establishes those who believe with the word that stands firm in this world and the next. So some of its air and perfume will come to him; and a space will be made for him as far as the eye can see. He also mentioned the death of the infidel; saying: His spirit will be restored to his body; two angels will come to him; make him sit up and ask him: Who is your Lord? He will reply: Alas; alas! I do not know. They will ask him: What is your religion? He will reply: Alas; alas! I do not know. They will ask: Who was the man who was sent on a mission among you? He will reply: Alas; alas! Then some of its heat and pestilential wind will come to him; and his grave will be compressed; so that his ribs will be crushed together. MuwataMalik-017-001-36072 | Yahya related to me from Malik from Yahya Ibn Said from Abdulrahman Ibn Hurmuz that Abdullah Ibn Buhayna said; The Messengerof Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; prayed dhuhr with us and he stood straight up after two rakas without sitting. When he had finished the prayer; he did two sajdas and then said the taslim after that. Malik said; concerning someone who forgot in his prayer and stood up after he had completed four rakas and recited and then went into ruku and then; when he raised his head from ruku; remembered that he had already completed his prayer ; He returns to a sitting position and does not do any sajda. If he has already done one sajda I do not think he should do the other. Then when his prayer is finished he does two sajdas from the sitting position after saying the taslim. | The Chapter on Prostration Of Forgetfulness in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Zakat in Muwata Malik |
