If you are not in need of this woman; then marry her to me. Allah Messenger ﷺ said; Do you have anything to offer her? He replied. No; by Allah; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! The Prophet ﷺ said to him; Go to your family and see if you can find something. The man went and returned; saying; No; by Allah; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! I have not found anything. The Prophet ﷺ said; Try to find something; even if it is an iron ring. He went again and returned; saying; No; by Allah; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ; not even an iron ring; but I have this waist sheet of mine. The man had no upper garment; so he intended to give her; half his waist sheet. So Allah Messenger ﷺ said; What would she do with your waist sheet? If you wear it; she will have nothing of it over her body; and if she wears it; you will have nothing over your body. So that man sat for a long period and then got up; and Allah Messenger ﷺ saw him going away; so he ordered somebody to call him. When he came; the Prophet ﷺ asked him; How much of the Quran do you know? He replied; I know such Surat and such Surat and such Surat; and went on counting it; The Prophet ﷺ asked him; Can you recite it by heart? he replied; Yes. Suddenly I felt somebody taking hold of my shoulder and found out that he was Ali Bin Abi Talib. Ali invoked Allah Mercy for Umar and said; O Umar! You have not left behind you a person whose deeds I like to imitate and meet Allah with more than I like your deeds. By Allah! Uqba Bin Abi Muait came and brought the intestines of a camel and threw them on the back of the Prophet ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ did not raise his head from prostration till Fatima i.e. his daughter came and removed those intestines from his back; and invoked evil on whoever had done the evil deed. The Prophet ﷺ said; O Allah! Destroy the chiefs of Quraish; O Allah! Destroy Abu Jahl Bin Hisham; Utba Bin Rabia; Shaiba Bin Rabia; Uqba Bin Abi Muait; Umaiya Bin Khalaf or Ubai Bin Kalaf. Later on I saw all of them killed during the battle of Badr and their bodies were thrown into a well except the body of Umaiya or Ubai; because he was a fat person; and when he was pulled; the parts of his body got separated before he was thrown into the well. | The Chapter on Throwing And Quraish in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The throwing of the dead bodies of AlMushrikun in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3964 | Narrated Anas: There was a Christian who embraced Islam and read Surat AlBaqara and AlImran; and he used to write the revelations for the Prophet. Later on he returned to Christianity again and he used to say: Muhammad knows nothing but what I have written for him. Then Allah caused him to die; and the people buried him; but in the morning they saw that the earth had thrown his body out. They said; This is the act of Muhammad and his companions. They dug the grave of our companion and took his body out of it because he had run away from them. They again dug the grave deeply for him; but in the morning they again saw that the earth had thrown his body out. They said; This is an act of Muhammad and his companions. They dug the grave of our companion and threw his body outside it; for he had run away from them. They dug the grave for him as deep as they could; but in the morning they again saw that the earth had thrown his body out. One of them called my attention saying; O Uncle! Do you know Abu Jahl? I said; Yes; What do you want from him; O my nephew? He said; I have been informed that he abuses Allah Messenger ﷺ. By Him in Whose Hands my life is; if I should see him; then my body will not leave his body till either of us meet his fate. I was astonished at that talk. Then the other boy called my attention saying the same as the other had said. After a while I saw Abu Jahl walking amongst the people. I said to the boys ; Look! This is the man you asked me about. So; both of them attacked him with their swords and struck him to death and returned to Allah Apostle to inform him of that. Allah Messenger ﷺ asked; Which of you has killed him? Each of them said; I Have killed him. Allah Messenger ﷺ asked; Have you cleaned your swords? They said; No. He then looked at their swords and said; No doubt; you both have killed him and the spoils of the deceased will be given to Muadh Bin Amr Bin AlJamuh. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-4199 | Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah Messenger ﷺ said; The Prophet Moses was a shy person and used to cover his body completely because of his extensive shyness. One of the children of Israel hurt him by saying; He covers his body in this way only because of some defect in his skin; either leprosy or scrotal hernia; or he has some other defect. Allah wished to clear Moses of what they said about him; so one day while Moses was in seclusion; he took off his clothes and put them on a stone and started taking a bath. When he had finished the bath; he moved towards his clothes so as to take them; but the stone took his clothes and fled; Moses picked up his stick and ran after the stone saying; O stone! Give me my garment! Till he reached a group of Bani Israel who saw him naked then; and found him the best of what Allah had created; and Allah cleared him of what they had accused him of. The stone stopped there and Moses took and put his garment on and started hitting the stone with his stick. By Allah; the stone still has some traces of the hitting; three; four or five marks. This was what Allah refers to in His Saying:- O you who believe! Be you not like those Who annoyed Moses; But Allah proved his innocence of that which they alleged; And he was honorable In Allah Sight. 33.69 | The Chapter on Moses And Prophets Stone And Bani Isreal in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Prophets in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-4479 | Narrated Anas: My uncle Anas Bin AlNadr was absent from the Battle of Badr. He said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! I was absent from the first battle you fought against the pagans. By Allah if Allah gives me a chance to fight the pagans; no doubt. Allah will see how bravely I will fight. On the day of Uhud when the Muslims turned their backs and fled; he said; O Allah! I apologize to You for what these i.e. his companions have done; and I denounce what these i.e. the pagans have done. Then he advanced and Saad Bin Muadh met him. He said O Saad Bin Muadh ! By the Lord of AlNadr; Paradise! I am smelling its aroma coming from before the mountain of Uhud; Later on Saad said; O Allah Apostle! I cannot achieve or do what he i.e. Anas Bin AlNadr did. We found more than eighty wounds by swords and arrows on his body. We found him dead and his body was mutilated so badly that none except his sister could recognize him by his fingers. We used to think that the following Verse was revealed concerning him and other men of his sort: Among the believers are men who have been true to their covenant with Allah.......... 33.23 His sister AlRubbaya broke a front tooth of a woman and Allah Messenger ﷺ ordered for retaliation. On that Anas bin AlNadr said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! By Him Who has sent you with the Truth; my sister tooth shall not be broken. Then the opponents of Anas sister accepted the compensation and gave up the claim of retaliation. SahihMuslim-017-001-17450 | Jabir Bin Abdullah reported: Allah Messenger may peace he upon him sent us on an expedition. We were three hundred riders and our chief leader was Ubaida Bin AlJarrah. We were on the look out for a caravan of the Quraish. So we stayed on the coast for half a month; and were so much afflicted by extreme hunger that we were obliged to eat leaves. That is why it was called the Detachment of the Leaves. The ocean cast out for us an animal which was called AlAnbar whale. We ate of that for half of the month and rubbed its fat on our bodies until our bodies became stout. Abu Ubaida caught hold of one of its ribs and fixed that up. He then cast a glance at the tallest man of the army and the highest of the camels. and then made him ride over that; and that-tnan passed beneath it the rib ; and many a man could sit in its eye-socket; and we extracted many pitchers of fat from the cavity of its eye. We had small bags containing dates with us before finding the whale. Ubaida gave every person amongst us a handful of dates and when the provision ran short ; he then gave each one of us one date. And when that stock was exhausted; we felt its loss. | The Chapter on Lost And Found And Dates in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 4 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-17766 | It has been narrated on the authority of Hudhaifa Bin AlYaman who said: People used to ask the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about the good times; but I used to ask him about bad times fearing lest they overtake me. I said: Messenger of Allah; we were in the midst of ignorance and evil; and then God brought us this good time through Islam. Is there any bad time after this good one? He said: Yes. I asked: Will there be a good time again after that bad time? He said: Yes; but therein will be a hidden evil. I asked: What will be the evil hidden therein? He said: That time will witness the rise of the people who will adopt ways other than mine and seek guidance other than mine. You will know good points as well as bad points. I asked: Will there be a bad time after this good one? He said: Yes. A time will come when there will be people standing and inviting at the gates of Hell. Whoso responds to their call they will throw them into the fire. I said: Messenger of Allah; describe them for us. He said: All right. They will be a people having the same complexion as ours and speaking our language. I said: Messenger of Allah; what do you suggest if I happen to live in that time? He said: You should stick to the main body of the Muslims and their leader. I said: If they have no such thing as the main body and have no leader? He said: Separate yourself from all these factions; though you may have to eat the roots of trees in a jungle until death comes to you and you are in this state. | The Chapter on Angeles And Good Deeds And Bad Decrees in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 13 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-17866 | It has been narrated on the authority of Masruq Who said: We asked Abdullah about the Quranic verse: Think not of those who are slain in Allah way as dead. Nay; they are alive; finding their sustenance in the presence of their Lord.. iii. 169. He said: We asked the meaning of the verse from the Holy Prophet who said: The souls; of the martyrs live in the bodies of green birds who have their nests in chandeliers hung from the throne of the Almighty. They eat the fruits of Paradise from wherever they like and then nestle in these chandeliers. Once their Lord cast a glance at them and said: Do ye want anything? They said: What more shall we desire? We eat the fruit of Paradise from wherever we like. Their Lord asked them the same question thrice. When they saw that they will continue to be asked and not left without answering the question. they said: O Lord; we wish that Thou mayest return our souls to our bodies so that we may be slain in Thy way once again. He was afraid to say more than this lest he be unable to keep his word with God. He was present with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the Day of Uhud. He met Saad Bin Muadh who was retreating. Anas said to him: O Abu Amr; where are you going ? Woe to thee ! I find the smell of Paradise beside the Uhud mountain. Reprimanding Saad in these words he went forward and fought thein the enemy until he was killed. The narrator says. More than eighty wounds inflicted with swords; spears and arrows were found on his body. So he who guards against doubtful things keeps his religion and honour blameless; and he who indulges in doubtful things indulges in fact in unlawful things; just as a shepherd who pastures his animals round a preserve will soon pasture them in it. He stood up there and said: May there be peace upon you; Abu Khubaib the Kunya of Hadrat Abdullah Bin AlZubair ; may there be peace upon you Abu Khubaib; may there be peace upon you; Abu Khubaib! By Allah; I used to forbid you from this; by Allah; I used to forbid you from this; by Allah I used to forbid you from this. By Allah; so far as I know; you had been very much devoted to fasting and prayer and you had been paying very much care to cementing the ties of blood. By Allah; the group to which you belong are labelled as a wicked person is indeed a fine group. Then Abdullah Bin Umar went away. The stand Abdullah Bin Umar took in regard to the inhuman treatment meted out to Abdullah Bin AlZubair and his words in that connection were conveyed to AlHajjaj Bin Yousif and as a consequence of that he the body of Abdullah Bin AlZubair was brought down from the stump the scaffold by which it was hanging and thrown into the graves of the Jews. He put on his shoes and walked on quickly swollen with vanity and pride until he came to her and said: How do you find what I have done with the enemy of Allah? She said: I find that you wronged him in this world; whereas he has spoiled your next life. It has been conveyed to me that you used to call him Abdullah Bin AlZubair as the son of one having two belts. By Allah; I am indeed a woman of two belts. One is that with the help of which I used to suspend high the food of Allah Messenger ﷺ and that of Abu Bakr making it out of the reach of animals and; so far as the second belt is concerned; that is the belt which no woman can dispense with. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-26847 | Narrated Anas Ibn Malik: Sahl Ibn Abu Umamah said that he and his father Abu Umamah visited Anas Ibn Malik at Medina during the time rule of Umar Ibn Abd AlAziz when he Anas Ibn Malik was the governor of Medina. He was praying a very short prayer as if it were the prayer of a traveller or near it. When he gave a greeting; my father said: May Allah have mercy on you! Tell me about this prayer: Is it obligatory or supererogatory? He said: It is obligatory; it is the prayer performed by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I did not make a mistake except in one thing that I forgot. He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say: Do not impose austerities on yourselves so that austerities will be imposed on you; for people have imposed austerities on themselves and Allah imposed austerities on them. Their survivors are to be found in cells and monasteries. Then he quoted: Monasticism; they invented it; we did not prescribe it for them. Next day he went out in the morning and said: will you not go out for a ride; so that you may see something and take a lesson from it? He said: Yes. Then all of them rode away and reached a land whose inhabitants had perished; passed away and died. The roofs of the town had fallen in. He asked: Do you know this land? I said: Who acquainted me with it and its inhabitants? Anas said: This is the land of the people whom oppression and envy destroyed. Envy extinguishes the light of good deeds; and oppression confirms or falsifies it. The eye commits fornication; and the palm of the hand; the foot; body; tongue and private part of the body confirm it or deny it. | The Chapter on Adhan And Iqama And Forgiveness in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Envy hasad in Sunan Abu Dawoud

MuwataMalik-017-001-34846 | Malik related to me that the generally agreed on way of doing things amongst the community about an accident is that there is no blood-money until the victim is better. If a man bone; either a hand; or a foot; or another part of his body; is broken accidentally and it heals and becomes sound and returns to its form; there is no blood-money for it. If the limb is impaired or there is a scar on it; there is blood-money for it according to the extent that it is impaired. Malik said; If that part of the body has a specific blood-money mentioned by the Prophet; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; it is according to what the Prophet; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; specified. If it is part of what does not have a specific blood-money for it mentioned by the Prophet; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; and if there is no previous sunna about it or specific blood-money; one uses ijtihad about it. Malik said; There is no blood-money for an accidental bodily injury when the wound heals and returns to its form. If there is any scar or mark in that; ijtihad is used about it except for the belly-wound. There is a third of the blood-money of a life for it. Malik said; There is no blood-money for the wound which splinters a bone in the body; and it is like the wound to the body which lays bare the bone. Malik said; The generally agreed on way of doing things in our community is that when the doctor performs a circumcision and cuts off the glans; he must pay the full blood-money. That is because it is an accident which the tribe is responsible for; and the full blood money is payable for all that in which a doctor errs or exceeds; when it is not intentional. | The Chapter on Money And Inheritance In Crimes And Felonies in HodHood Indexing, The Book of General Subjects in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-34858 | Malik related to me; Ibn Shihab did not think and nor do I; that there is a generally agreed on way of doing things regarding a piercing wound in any of the organs or limbs of the body; but I think that there is ijtihad in the case. The imam uses ijtihad in it; and there is no generally agreed on way of doing things in our community about it. Malik said; What is done in our community about the wound to the brain and the wound which splinters the bone; and the wound that bares the bone is that they apply only to the head and face. Whatever of that occurs in the body only has ijtihad in it. Malik said; I do not think the lower jaw and the nose are part of the head in their injury because they are separate bones; and except for them the head is one bone. | The Chapter on Wounds In Crimes And Felonies in HodHood Indexing, The Book of General Subjects in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35615 | Yahya related to me from Malik that Yahya Ibn Said said that he had heard that when Abu Bakr AlSiddiq was ill he asked Aisha; How many shrouds did the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; have? and she replied; Three pure white cotton garments. Abu Bakr said; Take this garment a garment he was wearing on which red clay or saffron had fallen and wash it. Then shroud me in it with two other garments. Aisha said; Why that?; and Abu Bakr replied; The living have greater need of the new than the dead. This is only for the body fluids that come out as the body decays. | The Chapter on Garments Forbidden Dress in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Hajj in Muwata Malik |
