SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1025 | Narrated Jabir Bin Abdullah: AlSalami: Allah Messenger ﷺ used to teach his companions to perform the prayer of Istikhara for each and every matter just as he used to teach them the Suras from the Quran He used to say; If anyone of you intends to do some thing; he should offer a two rakat prayer other than the compulsory prayers; and after finishing it; he should say: O Allah! I consult You; for You have all knowledge; and appeal to You to support me with Your Power and ask for Your Bounty; for You are able to do things while I am not; and You know while I do not; and You are the Knower of the Unseen. O Allah If You know It this matter name your matter is good for me both at present and in the future; or in my religion ; in my this life and in the Hereafter; then fulfill it for me and make it easy for me; and then bestow Your Blessings on me in that matter. O Allah! If You know that this matter is not good for me in my religion; in my this life and in my coming Hereafter or at present or in the future ; then divert me from it and choose for me what is good wherever it may be; and make me be pleased with it. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1288 | Narrated Zaid Bin Thabit: Abu Bakr sent for me owing to the large number of casualties in the battle of AlYamama; while Umar was sitting with him. Abu Bakr said to me ; Umar has come to my and said; A great number of Qaris of the Holy Quran were killed on the day of the battle of AlYamama; and I am afraid that the casualties among the Qaris of the Quran may increase on other battle-fields whereby a large part of the Quran may be lost. Therefore I consider it advisable that you Abu Bakr should have the Quran collected. I said; How dare I do something which Allah Messenger ﷺ did not do? Umar said; By Allah; it is something beneficial. Umar kept on pressing me for that till Allah opened my chest for that for which He had opened the chest of Umar and I had in that matter; the same opinion as Umar had. Abu Bakr then said to me Zaid ; You are a wise young man and we do not have any suspicion about you; and you used to write the Divine Inspiration for Allah Messenger ﷺ. So you should search for the fragmentary scripts of the Quran and collect it in one Book. Zaid further said: By Allah; if Abu Bakr had ordered me to shift a mountain among the mountains from one place to another it would not have been heavier for me than this ordering me to collect the Quran. Then I said to Umar and Abu Bakr ; How can you do something which Allah Messenger ﷺ did not do? Abu Bakr said; By Allah; it is something beneficial. Zaid added: So he Abu Bakr kept on pressing me for that until Allah opened my chest for that for which He had opened the chests of Abu Bakr and Umar; and I had in that matter; the same opinion as theirs. So I started compiling the Quran by collecting it from the leafless stalks of the date-palm tree and from the pieces of leather and hides and from the stones; and from the chests of men who had memorized the Quran. I found the last verses of Surat AlTauba: Verily there has come unto you an Apostle Muhammad from amongst yourselves- 9.128-129 from Khuzaima or Abi Khuzaima and I added to it the rest of the Sura. The manuscripts of the Quran remained with Abu Bakr till Allah took him unto Him. Then it remained with Umar till Allah took him unto Him; and then with Hafsa bint Umar. | The Chapter on Lost And Found And Alquran in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on It is desirable that a scribe should be honest and wise in Sahih AlBukhari

They said to him; Since you have become a Muslim; we have never seen you doing a deed more criticizable to us than your haste in this matter. Ammar said; Since you both became Muslims; I have never seen you doing a deed more criticizable to me than your keeping away from this matter. Then Abu Masud provided Ammar and Abu Mousa with two-piece outfits to wear; and one of them went to the Masjid of Kufa. | The Chapter on Charity To Idolaters And Infidels in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Chapter in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1870 | Narrated Jabir: The Prophet ﷺ used to teach us the Istikhara for each and every matter as he used to teach us the Suras from the Holy Quran. He used to say ; If anyone of you intends to do something; he should offer a two-rakat prayer other than the obligatory prayer; and then say: “O Allah Behold I ask You the good through Your Knowledge, and ability through Your Power, and beg (Your favour) out of Your infinite Bounty. For surely You have Power; I have none. You know all; I know not. You are the Great Knower of all things. O Allah! If in Your Knowledge this matter be good for my faith (Deen), for my livelihood, and for the consequences of my affairs, then ordain it for me, and make it easy for me, and bless me therein. But if in Your Knowledge, this matter be bad for my faith (Deen) for my livelihood, and for the consequences of my affairs, then turn it away from me, and turn me away therefrom, and ordain for me the good wherever it be, and cause me to be pleased therewith.”; Then he should mention his matter need. | The Chapter on Seeking Knowledge in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The invocation on making Istikharah in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2503 | Narrated Abu Ayoub AlAnsari: A man said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Inform me of a deed which will make me enter Paradise. The people said; What is the matter with him? What is the matter with him? Allah Messenger ﷺ said; He has something to ask what he needs greatly. The Prophet ﷺ said to him ; In order to enter Paradise you should worship Allah and join none in worship with Him: You should offer prayers perfectly; give obligatory charity Zakat ; and keep good relations with your Kith and kin. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3231 | Narrated Malik Bin Aus Bin AlHadathan: Once I set out to visit Umar bin AlKhattab. While I was sitting there with him his gate-keeper; Yarfa; came and said; Uthman Abdulrahman bin Auf ; AlZubair and Saad bin Abi Waqqas are seeking permission to meet you. Umar said; Yes. So he admitted them and they entered; greeted; and sat down. After a short while Yarfa came again and said to Umar Shall I admit Ali and Abbas? Umar said; Yes. He admitted them and when they entered; they greeted and sat down. Abbas said; O Chief of the Believers! Judge between me and this Ali. The group; Uthman and his companions Sad; O Chief of the Believers! Judge between them and relieve one from the other. Umar said. Wait! I beseech you by Allah; by Whose permission both the Heaven and the Earth stand fast ! Do you know that Allah Messenger ﷺ said. We Apostles do not bequeath anything to our heirs; but whatever we leave is to be given in charity. And by that Allah Messenger ﷺ s meant himself? The group said; He did say so. Umar then turned towards All and Abbas and said. I beseech you both by Allah; do you know that Allah Messenger ﷺ said that? They said; Yes Umar said; Now; let me talk to you about this matter. Allah favored His Apostle with something of this property war booty which He did not give to anybody else. And Allah said:- And what Allah has bestowed on His Apostle as Fai Booty from them for which you made no expedition with either cavalry or camelry... Allah is Able to do all things. 59.6 So this property was especially granted to Allah Messenger ﷺ. But by Allah he neither withheld it from you; nor did he keep it for himself and deprive you of it; but he gave it all to you and distributed it among you till only this remained out of it. And out of this property Allah Messenger ﷺ used to provide his family with their yearly needs; and whatever remained; he would spend where Allah Property the revenues of Zakat used to be spent. Allah Messenger ﷺ kept on acting like this throughout his lifetime. Now I beseech you by Allah; do you know that? They said; Yes. Then Umar said to Ali and Abbas; I beseech you by Allah; do you both know that? They said; Yes. Umar added; When Allah had taken His Apostle unto Him; Abu Bakr said; I am the successor of Allah Messenger ﷺ. So he took charge of that property and did with it the same what Allah Messenger ﷺ used to do; and both of you knew all about it then. Then Umar turned towards Ali and Abbas and said; You both claim that Abu Bakr was so-and-so! But Allah knows that he was honest; sincere; pious and right in that matter. Then Allah caused Abu Bakr to die; and I said; I am the successor of Allah Messenger ﷺ and Abu Bakr. So I kept this property in my possession for the first two years of my rule; and I used to do the same with it as Allah Messenger ﷺ and Abu Bakr used to do. Later both of you Ali and Abbas came to me with the same claim and the same problem. O Abbas! You came to me demanding your share from the inheritance of the son of your brother; and he Ali came to me demanding his wives share from the inheritance of her father. So I said to you; If you wish I will hand over this property to you; on condition that you both promise me before Allah that you will manage it in the same way as Allah Messenger ﷺ and Abu Bakr did; and as I have done since the beginning of my rule; otherwise you should not speak to me about it. So you both said; Hand over this property to us on this condition. And on this condition I handed it over to you. I beseech you by Allah; did I hand it over to them on that condition? The group said; Yes. Umar then faced Ali and Abbas and said; I beseech you both by Allah; did I hand it over to you both on that condition? They both said; Yes. Umar added; Do you want me now to give a decision other than that? By Him with Whose permission order both the Heaven and the Earth stand fast; I will never give any decision other than that till the Hour is established! But if you are unable to manage it that property ; then return it to me and I will be sufficient for it on your behalf. | The Chapter on Contracts And Disputes Management in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on To provide one family with food sufficient for one year in advance in Sahih AlBukhari

He said; In order to compile and arrange the Quran according to it; for people recite it with its Suras not in proper order. Aisha said; What does it matter which part of it you read first? Be informed that the first thing that was revealed thereof was a Surat from AlMufassal; and in it was mentioned Paradise and the Fire. When the people embraced Islam; the Verses regarding legal and illegal things were revealed. If the first thing to be revealed was: Do not drink alcoholic drinks. people would have said; We will never leave alcoholic drinks; and if there had been revealed; Do not commit illegal sexual intercourse; they would have said; We will never give up illegal sexual intercourse. While I was a young girl of playing age; the following Verse was revealed in Mecca to Muhammad: Nay! But the Hour is their appointed time for their full recompense ; and the Hour will be more grievous and more bitter. 54.46 Surat AlBaqara The Cow and Surat AlNisa The Women were revealed while I was with him. Call the man to me. When the man was called to him; he told him of his thought. The man said; I have never seen such a day on which a Muslim is faced with such an accusation. Umar said; I am determined that you should tell me the truth. He said; I was a foreteller in the pre-lslamic period of ignorance. Then Umar said; Tell me the most astonishing thing your female Jinn has told you of. He said; One-day while I was in the market; she came to me scared and said; Havent you seen the Jinns and their despair and they were overthrown after their defeat and prevented from listening to the news of the heaven so that they stopped going to the sky and kept following camel-riders i.e. Arabs ? Umar said; He is right. and added; One day while I was near their idols; there came a man with a calf and slaughtered it as a sacrifice for the idols. An unseen creature shouted at him; and I have never heard harsher than his voice. He was crying; O you bold evil-doer! A matter of success! An eloquent man is saying: None has the right to be worshipped except you O Allah. On that the people fled; but I said; I shall not go away till I know what is behind this. So; when it became evident to them that the Prophet ﷺ was not going to return them except one of the two; they said; We choose our prisoners. The Prophet got up amongst the people and glorified and praised Allah as He deserved and said; Then after; these brethren of yours have come to us with repentance; and I see it logical to return them the captives. So; whoever amongst you likes to do that as a favor; then he can do it; and whoever of you likes to stick to his share till we recompense him from the very first war booty which Allah will give us; then he can do so i.e. give up the present captives. The people unanimously said; We do that return the captives willingly. The Prophet ﷺ said; We do not know which of you has agreed to it and which have not; so go back and let your leaders forward us your decision. So; all the people then went back and discussed the matter with their leaders who returned and informed the Prophet ﷺ that all the people had willingly given their consent to return the captives. This is what has reached us about the captives of Hawazin. What is the matter with him? The Prophet ﷺ said; He has something to ask. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6903 | Narrated Zaid Bin Thabit: Regarding the Verse:- Then what is the matter with you that you are divided into two parties about the hypocrites? 4.88 Some of the companions of the Prophet ﷺ returned from the battle of Uhud i.e. refused to fight whereupon the Muslims got divided into two parties; one of them was in favor of their execution and the other was not in favour of it. So there ware revealed: Then what is the matter with you that you are divided into two parties about the hypocrites? 4.88. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-7157 | Narrated Habib Bin Abi Thabit: I went to Abu Wail to ask him about those who had rebelled against Ali. On that Abu Wail said; We were at Siffin a city on the bank of the Euphrates; the place where me battle took place between Ali and Muawiya A man said; Will you be on the side of those who are called to consult Allah Book to settle the dispute ? Ali said; Yes I agree that we should settle the matter in the light of the Quran. Some people objected to Ali agreement and wanted to fight. On that Sahl Bin Hunaif said; Blame yourselves! I remember how; on the day of AlHudaibiya i.e. the peace treaty between the Prophet ﷺ and the Quraish pagans ; if we had been allowed to choose fighting; we would have fought the pagans. At that time Umar came to the Prophet and said; Arent we on the right path and they pagans in the wrong? Wont our killed persons go to Paradise; and theirs in the Fire? The Prophet replied; Yes. Umar further said; Then why should we let our religion be degraded and return before Allah has settled the matter between us? The Prophet ﷺ said; O the son of AlKhattab! No doubt; I am Allah Messenger ﷺ and Allah will never neglect me. So Umar left the place angrily and he was so impatient that he went to Abu Bakr and said; O Abu Bakr! Arent we on the right path and they pagans on the wrong? Abu Bakr said; O the son of AlKhattab! He is Allah Messenger ﷺ ; and Allah will never neglect him. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-7224 | Narrated Ibn Abbas: For the whole year I had the desire to ask Umar Bin AlKhattab regarding the explanation of a Verse in Surat AlTahrim but I could not ask him because I respected him very much. When he went to perform the Hajj; I too went along with him. On our return; while we were still on the way home. Umar went Aasi de to answer the call of nature by the Arak trees. I waited till he finished and then I proceeded with him and asked him. O chief of the Believers! Who were the two wives of the Prophet ﷺ who aided one another against him? He said; They were Hafsa and Aisha. Then I said to him; By Allah; I wanted to ask you about this a year ago; but I could not do so owing to my respect for you. Umar said; Do not refrain from asking me. If you think that I have knowledge about a certain matter ; ask me; and if I know something about it ; I will tell you. Then Umar added; By Allah; in the Pre-lslamic Period of Ignorance we did not pay attention to women until Allah revealed regarding them what He revealed regarding them and assigned for them what He has assigned. Once while I was thinking over a certain matter; my wife said; I recommend that you do so-and-so. I said to her; What have you got to do with the is matter? Why do you poke your nose in a matter which I want to see fulfilled.? She said; How strange you are; O son of AlKhattab! You dont want to be argued with whereas your daughter; Hafsa surely; argues with Allah Messenger ﷺ so much that he remains angry for a full day! Umar then reported; how he at once put on his outer garment and went to Hafsa and said to her; O my daughter! Do you argue with Allah Messenger ﷺ so that he remains angry the whole day? H. afsa said; By Allah; we argue with him. Umar said; Know that I warn you of Allah punishment and the anger of Allah Messenger ﷺ... O my daughter! Dont be betrayed by the one who is proud of her beauty because of the love of Allah Messenger ﷺ for her i.e. Aisha. Umar addled; Then I went out to Umm Salamah house who was one of my relatives; and I talked to her. She said; O son of AlKhattab! It is rather astonishing that you interfere in everything; you even want to interfere between Allah Apostle and his wives! By Allah; by her talk she influenced me so much that I lost some of my anger. I left her and went home. At that time I had a friend from the Ansar who used to bring news from the Prophet in case of my absence; and I used to bring him the news if he was absent. In those days we were afraid of one of the kings of Ghassan tribe. We heard that he intended to move and attack us; so fear filled our hearts because of that. One day my Ansari friend unexpectedly knocked at my door; and said; Open Open! I said; Has the king of Ghassan come? He said; No; but something worse; Allah Messenger ﷺ has isolated himself from his wives. I said; Let the nose of Aisha and Hafsa be stuck to dust i.e. humiliated ! Then I put on my clothes and went to Allah Messenger ﷺ residence; and behold; he was staying in an upper room of his to which he ascended by a ladder; and a black slave of Allah Messenger ﷺ was sitting on the first step. I said to him; Say to the Prophet ﷺ Umar Bin AlKhattab is here. Then the Prophet ﷺ admitted me and I narrated the story to Allah Messenger ﷺ. When I reached the story of Umm Salamah ; Allah Messenger ﷺ smiled while he was lying on a mat made of palm tree leaves with nothing between him and the mat. Underneath his head there was a leather pillow stuffed with palm fibres; and leaves of a saut tree were piled at his feet; and above his head hung a few water skins. On seeing the marks of the mat imprinted on his side; I wept. He said. Why are you weeping? I replied; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Caesar and Khosrau are leading the life i.e. Luxurious life while you; Allah Messenger ﷺ though you are; is living in destitute. The Prophet ﷺ then replied. Abdullah Bin Sahl was killed. They accused the Jews for this act. And there came to Allah Apostle ﷺ his brother the brother of the slain person Abdulrahman and his cousins Huwayisa and Muhayisa; and Abdulrahman talked to him about the matter pertaining to the murder of his brother; and he was the youngest among them. Thereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said: Show regard for the greatness of the old; or he said: Let the eldest begin speaking. Then they Huwayisa and Muhayisa spoke about the matter of their companion murder of their cousin; Abdullah Bin Sahl. Thereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said: Let fifty persons among you take oath for levelling the charge of murder against a person amongst them; and he would be surrendered to you. They said: We have not witnessed this matter ourselves. How can we then take oath? He the Holy Prophet said: The Jews will exonerate themselves by the oaths of fifty of them. They said: Messenger of Allah; they are non-believing people. Thereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ paid the blood wit for him. SahihMuslim-017-001-17614 | Imran Bin Hosain reported that the tribe of Thaqif was the ally of Banu Uqail. Thaqif took two persons from amongst the Companions of Allah Messenger ﷺ as prisoners. The Companions of Allah Messenger ﷺ took one person at Banu Uqail as prisoner; and captured AlAdbi the camel of the Holy Prophet along with him. Allah Messenger ﷺ came to him and he was tied with ropes. He said: Muhammad. He came near him and said: What is the matter with you? Thereupon he the prisoner said: Why have you taken me as prisoner and why have you caught hold of one proceeding the pilgrims the camel as she carried the Prophet on her back and walked ahead of the multitude ? He the Holy Prophet said: Yours is a great fault. I my men have caught hold of you for the crime of your allies; Banu Thaqif. He the Holy Prophet then turned away. He again called him and said: Muhammad; Muhammad; and since Allah Messenger ﷺ was very compassionate; and tenderhearted; he returned to him; and said: What is the matter with you? He said: I am a Muslim; whereupon he the Holy Prophet said: Had you said this when you had been the master of yourself; you would have gained every success. He then turned away. He the prisoner called him again saying: Muhammad; Muhammad. He came to him and said: What is the matter with you? He said: I am hungry; feed me; and I am thirsty; so provide me with drink. He the Holy Prophet said: That is to satisfy your want. He was then ransomed for two persons who had been taken prisoner by Thaqif. He the narrator said: A woman of the Ansar had been taken prisoner and also AlAdbi was caught. The woman had been tied with ropes. The people were giving rest to their animals before their houses. She escaped one night from the bondage and came to the camels. As she drew near the camels; they fretted and fumed and so she left them until she came to Al; Adbi. It did not fret and fume; it was docile She rode upon its back and drove it away and she went off. When they the enemies of Islam were warned of this; they went in search of it; but it the camel exhausted them. She the woman took vow for Allah; that in case He would save her through it; she would offer that as a sacrifice. As she reached Medina; the people saw her and they said: Here is AlAdbi; the camel of Allah Messenger ﷺ. She the woman said that she had taken a vow that if Allah would save her on its back; she would sacrifice it. They the Prophet Companions came to Allah Messenger ﷺ and made a mention of that to him; whereupon he said: Hallowed be Allah; how ill she rewarded it that she took vow to Allah that if He saves her on its back; she would sacrifice it! SahihMuslim-017-001-21517 | Abdullah Bin Abbas Allah be pleased with tlicm reported: I intended to ask Umar Bin AlKhattab Allah be pleased with him about a verse; but I waited for one year to ask him out of his fear; until he went out for Pilgrimage and I also accompanied him. As he came back and we were on the way he stepped Aasi de towards an Arak tree to ease himself. I waited for him until he was free. I then walked along with him and said: Commander of the Faithful; who are the two among the wives of Allah Messenger ﷺ who backed up one another in their demand for extra money ? He said: They were Hafsa and Aisha Allah be pleased with them. I said to him: It is for one year that I intended to ask you about this matter but I could not date so on account of the awe for you. He said: Dont do that. If you think that I have any knowledge; do ask me about that. And if I were to know that; I would inform you. He the narrator stated that Umar had said: By Allah; during the days of ignorance we had no regard for women until Allah the Exalt- ed revealed about them what He has revealed; and appointed turn for them what he appointed. He said: It so happened that I was thinking about some matter that my wife said: I wish you had done that and that. I said to her: It does not concern you and you should not feel disturbed in a matter which I intend to do. She said to me: How strange is it that you; O son of AlKhattab; do not like anyone to retort upon you; whereas your daughter retorts upon Allah Messenger may peace be upou him until he spends the day in vexation. Umar said: I took hold of my cloak; then came out of my house until I visited Hafsa and said to her: O daughter; I heard that you retort upon Allah Messenger ﷺ until he spends the day in vexation; whereupon Hafsa said: By Allah; we do retort upon him. I said: You should bear in mind; my daughter; that I warn you against the punishment of Allah and the wrath of His Messenger ﷺ. You may not be misled by one whose beauty has fascinated her; and the love of Allah Messenger ﷺ for her. I Umar then visited Umm Salamah because of my relationship with her and I talked to her. Umm Salamah said to me: Umar Bin AlKhattab; how strange is it that you meddle with every matter so much so that you are anxious to interfere between Allah Messenger ﷺ and his wives; and this perturbed me so much that I refrained from saying what I had to say; so I came out of her apartment; and I had a friend from the Anar. When I had been absent from the company of the Holy Prophet he used to bring me the news and when he had been absent I used to bring him the news; and at that time we dreaded a king of Ghassan. It was mentioned to us that he intended to attack us; and our minds were haunted by him. My friend; the Ansari; came to me; and he knocked at the door and said: Open it; open it. I said: Has the Ghassani come? He said: The matter is more serious than that. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ has separated himself from his wives. I said: Let the nose of Hafsa and Aisha be besmeared with dust. I then took hold of my cloth and went out until I came and found Allah Messenger ﷺ in his attic to which he climbed by means of a ladder made of date-palm; and the servant of Allah Messenger ﷺ who was black had been sitting at the end of the ladder. I said: This is Umar. So permission was granted to me. I narrated this news to Allah Messenger ﷺ and as I narrated the news concerning Umm Salamah; Allah Messenger ﷺ smiled. He was lying on the mat and there was nothing between him and that mat ; and under his head there was a pillow made of leather and it was stuffed with plam fibres and at his feet were lying a heap of sant tree acacia niloctica; meant for dyeing and near his head there was hanging a hide. And I saw the marks of the maton the side of Allah Messenger ﷺ ; and so I wept. He said: What makes you weep? I said: Messenger of Allah; the Khusrau and the Ceasars spendd their lives in the midst of luxuries ; whereas you being Allah Messenger are leading your life in this poverty. SahihMuslim-017-001-21520 | Ibn Abbas Allah be pleased with them reported. I had always been anxious to ask Umar Allah be pleased with him about the two ladies amongst the wives of Allah Prophet may peace be upon Lim about whom Allah; the Exalted; said: If you both turn in repentance to Allah; then indeed your hearts are inclined to this Ixvi. 4 ; until Umar Allah be pleased with him set out for Hajj and I also went along with him. And as we were going along a path; Umar Allah be pleased with hiyn went Aasi de and I also went Aasi de with him with a jug of water. He answered the call of nature; and then came to me and I poured water over his hands and he performed ablution I said: Commander of the Faithful; who are the two ladies amongst the wives of Allah Prophet ﷺ about whom Allah; the Exalted and Majestic; said: If you both turn to Allah in repentance; then indeed your heart are inclined to it? Umar Allah he pleased with him said: How strange is it for you; Ibn Abbas! Zuhri said: By Allah; he disliked what he asked about; but did not keep it a secret. He Umar said: They are Hafsa and Aisha; and he then began to narrate the hadith and said: We were such people among the Quraish who dominated women; and as we reached Medina we found there people who were dominated by their women; and our women began to learn the habits of their women. He further said: And my house was situated in the suburb of Aledina in the tribe of Banu Umaya Bin Zaid. One day I became angry with my wife and she retorted upon me. I did not like that she should retort upon me. She said: You disapprove of my retorting upon you By Allah; the wives of Allah Apostle ﷺ retort upon him; and one of them detaches herself from him for the day until the night. So I Umar went out and visited Hafsa and said: Do you retort upon Allah Messenger ﷺ ? She said: Yes. I said; Does any one of you detach herself from him from the day to the night? She said: Yes. He said: She who did like it amongst you in fact failed and incurred loss. Does everyone amongst you not fear the wrath of Allah upon her due to the wrath of His Messenger ﷺ ; and as a result thereof she may perish? So do not retort upon Allah Messenger ﷺ and do not ask him for anything; but ask me that which you desire; and the frank behaviour of your companion may not mislead you; if she is more graceful and is dearer to Allah Messenger ﷺ than you meaning Aisha Allah be pleased with her. He Hadrat Umar further said: I had a compalaion from the Ansar and; we used to remain in the company of the Messenger ﷺ turn by turn. He remained there for a day while I remained there on the other day; and he brought me the news about the revelation and other matter ; and I brought him the news like this. And we discussed that the Ghassanids were shoeing the horses in order to attack us. Id y companion once attended the Apostle. and then came to me at night and knocked at my door and called me; and I came out to him; and he said: A matter of great importance has happened. I said: What is that? Have the Ghassanids come? He said: No; but even more serious and more significant than that: the Prophet ﷺ has divorced his wives. I said: Hafsa has failed and has incurred loss. and I feared that it would happen. When it was dawn I observed the dawn prayer and dressed myself; and then came there in the house of the Holy Prophet and visited Hafsa; and she was weeping. I said: Has Allah Messenger ﷺ divorced you all ? She said: I do not know. He has; however; separated himself in his attic. I came to a black servant and said to him: Seek permission for Umar. He went in and then came to me and said: I made mention of you to him; but he kept quiet. I then went to the pulpit and sat there; and there was a group of people sitting by it and some of then were weeping. I sat there for some time; until I was overpowered by that very idea which was in my mind. I then came back to the boy and said to him: Seek permission for Umar. He went in and came to me and said: I made mention of you to him but he kept quiet. I was about to turn back when the boy called me and said: Go in; permission has been granted to you. I went in and greeted Allah Messenger ﷺ and he was reclining against the couch of mat and it had left its marks upon his side. I said: Messenger of Allah; have you divorced your wives? He raised his head towards me and said: No. I said: Allah is the Greatest. Messenger of Allah; I wish if you had seen how we the people of Quraish had domination over women but when we came to Medina we found people whom their women dominated. So our women began to learn from their women. One dily I became angry with my wife and she began to retort upon me. I did not approve that she should retort upon me. She said: You do not like that I should retort upon you; but; by Allah. the wives of Allah Apostle ﷺ retort upon him and any one of them separates herself from him for a day until night. I said: He who did that amongst them in fact failed and incurred loss. Does any of them feel sate from the wrath of Allahupon her due to the wrath of Allah Messenger ﷺ ; and she has certainly perished. Allah Messtnger ﷺ smiled; I said: Messenger of Allah; I visited Hafsa and said: The behaviour of your companion Aisha may not mislead you; If she is more graceful than you and is dearer to Allah Messenger ﷺ than you. Allah Messenger ﷺ smiled for the second time. I said: Allah Messenger; way I talk to you about agreeable things? He said: Yes. I sat down and lifted my head to see things in the house and; by Allah; I did not see anything significant besides three hides. I said: Messenger of Allah; supplicate the Lord that He should make life prosperous for your Ummah as He has made plentiful for the people of Persia and Rome in spite of the fact that they do no; worship Allah; the Exalted and Majestic; whereupon he Allah Messenger sat up an I then said: Ibn AlKhattab; do you doubt that they are a nation whom their nice things have been given immediately in the life of this world. I said: Allah Messenger! seek pardon for me. And he Allah Messenger had taken an oath that he would not visit them for a month due to extreme annoyance with them until Allah showed His displeasure to him Allah Messenger. Zuhri said: Urwa informed me that AIsha Allah be pleased with her said: When twenty-nine nights were over; Allah Messenger ﷺ visited me; and he began his visit with me. I said: Messenger of Allah; you had taken an oath that you would not visit us for a month; while you have visited after I have counted only twenty-nine nights. Thereupon he said: The month may also be of twenty-nine days. He then said: Aisha; I am going to talk to you about a matter; and you should not be hasty in it and do not give your final decision until you have consulted your parents. He then recited this verse to me: O Prophet; say to your wives till he reached mighty reward xxxiii. 28. Aisha Allah be pleased with her said: By Allah; he knew that my parents would not allow me to separate from him. I said: Is there any need to consult my parents in this matter? I in fact choose Allah and His Messenger ﷺ and the abode in the Hereafter. Mamar said: Ayoub reported to me that Aisha said: Dont inform your wives that I have chosen you; whereupon Allah Apostle ﷺ said: Verily Allah has sent me as a conveyer of message; and He has not sent me as a source of hardship to others. SunanAlTermithi-017-001-10055 | Narrated Saeed Bin Jubair: I was asked about those who were involved in the case of Lian and if they are to be separated; during the leadership of mousab Bin AlZubair. I did not know what to say. So I went to the house of Abdullah Bin Umar and I sought permission to enter. I was told he was taking a nap; but he heard me taking and he said: Is it Ibn Jubair? Enter. You would not have come except for a need. He said: So I entered and found him laying on a saddlecloth from his mount. I said: O Abu Abdulrahman Are those involved in Lian separated? He said: Glorious is Allah! Yes. The first who asked about hat was so-and-so the son of so-and-so. He came to the Prophet ﷺ and said O Messenger of Allah! If one of us saw his wife committing adultery; what should he do? If he were to say anything; his statement would be a horrible matter; and if he were to remain silent; his silence about the matter would be horrible. He said: So the Prophet ﷺ remained silent and did not answer him. Afterwards he came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: The one who asked you about it has been tried by it. So Allah revealed these Ayat from Surat AlNur: And those who accuse their wives and have no witnesses except themselves; let the testimony of one of them be four testimonies by Allah 24:6-10 - until the end of those Ayat. He said: So he called for the man and recited the Ayat to him and admonished him; reminded him; and he told him: Indeed the punishment of the world is less than the punishment of the Hereafter. So he said: Nay! By the One Who sent you with the Truth! I did not lie about her. Then he ﷺ did the same with the woman; admonishing her and reminding her and he told her: Indeed the punishment of the world is less than the punishment of the Hereafter. She said: Nay! SunanAlNasai-017-001-13888 | Aisha said: The wives of the Prophet sent Fatimah; the daughter of the Messenger of Allah; to the Messenger of Allah. She asked permission to enter when he was lying with me under my cover. He gave her permission to enter; and she said: O Messenger of Allah; your wives have sent me to you to ask you to be equitable with regard to the matter of the daughter of Abu Quhafah. I Aisha kept quiet and the Messenger of Allah said to her: O my daughter! Do you not love the one whom I love? She said: Yes. He said: Then love this one. Fatimah stood up when she heard this and left the Messenger of Allah; and went back to the wives of the Prophet. She told them what she had said; and what he had said to her. They said to her: We do not think that you have been of any avail to us. Go back to the Messenger of Allah and say to him: Your wives are urging you to be equitable with regard to the matter of the daughter of Abu Quhafah. Fatimah said: No; by Allah; I will never speak to him about her again. Aisha said: So the wives of the Prophet sent Zainab bint Jahsh to the Messenger of Allah; she was one who was somewhat equal to me in rank in the eyes of the Messenger of Allah. And I have never seen a woman who was better in religious commitment than Zainab; more fearing of Allah; more honest in speech; more dutiful in upholding the ties of kinship; more generous in giving charity; and devoted in giving of herself in acts of charity; by means of which she sought to draw closer to Allah. But she was quick-tempered; however; she was also quick to calm down. She asked permission to enter upon the Messenger of Allah when he was with Aisha under her cover; in the same situation as when Fatimah had entered. The Messenger of Allah gave her permission to enter and she said: O Messenger of Allah; your wives have sent me to ask you to be equitable with regard to the matter of the daughter of Abu Quhafah. Then she verbally abused me at length; and I was watching the Messenger of Allah to see if he would allow me to respond. I said: By Him Who sent you with truth; we passed the night hungry; there was no food in our house. He said: Then go to the collector of sadaqah of Banu Zurayq; he must give it to you. Then feed sixty poor people with a wasq of dates; and you and your family eat the remaining dates. Then I came back to my people; and said to them : I found with you poverty and bad opinion; and I found with the Prophet ﷺ prosperity and good opinion. He has commanded me to give alms to you. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-25829 | Sufyan said according to one chain ; and Abu AlSalit said according to another chain : A man wrote to Umar Bin Abd AlAziz asking him about Divine decree. He wrote to him: To begin with; I enjoin upon you to fear Allah; to be moderate in obeying His Command; to follow the sunnah practice of His Prophet ﷺ and to abandon the novelties which the innovators introduced after his Sunnah has been established and they were saved from its trouble i.e. novelty or innovation ; so stick to Sunnah; for it is for you; if Allah chooses; a protection ; then you should know that any innovation which the people introduced was refuted long before it on the basis of some authority or there was some lesson in it; for the Sunnah was introduced by the people who were conscious of the error; slip; foolishness; and extremism in case of the sunnah was opposed. So accept for yourself what the people in the past had accepted for themselves; for they had complete knowledge of whatever they were informed; and by penetrating insight they forbade to do prohibited acts ; they had more strength than us to disclose the matters of religion ; and they were far better than us by virtue of their merits. If right guidance is what you are following; then you outstriped them to it. And if you say whatever the novelty occurred after them was introduced by those who followed the way other then theirs and disliked them. It is they who actually outstripped; and talked about it sufficiently; and gave a satisfactory explanation for it. Below them there is no place for exhaustiveness; and above them there is no place for elaborating things. Some people shortened the matter more than they had done; and thus they turned away from them ; and some people raised the matter more than they had done; and thus they exaggerated. They were on right guidance between that. You have written to me asking about confession of Divine decree; you have indeed approached a person who is well informed of it; with the will of Allah. I know what whatever novelty people have brought in; and whatever innovation people have introduced are not more manifest and more established than confession of Divine decree. The ignorant people i.e. the Arabs before Islam in pre-Islamic times have mentioned it ; they talked about it in their speeches and in their poetry. They would console themselves for what they lost; and Islam then strengthened it i.e. belief in Divine decree. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not mention it in one or two traditions; but the Muslims heard it from him; and they talked of it from him; and they talked of it during his lifetime and after his death. They did so out of belief and submission to their Lord and thinking themselves weak. There is nothing which is not surrounded by His knowledge; and not counted by His register and not destined by His decree. Despite that; it has been strongly mentioned in His Book: from it they have derived it; and from it they have and so ? they also read in it what you read; and they knew its interpretation of which you are ignorant. After that they said: All this is by writing and decreeing. Distress has been written down; and what has been destined will occur ; what Allah wills will surely happen; and what He does not will will not happen. We have no power to harm or benefit ourselves. Then after that they showed interest in good works and were afraid of bad deeds. | The Chapter on Angeles And Good Deeds And Bad Decrees in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Adherence To The Sunnah in Sunan Abu Dawoud

She replied: Sometimes he would take a bath at the beginning of the night and sometimes at the end. Thereupon I exclaimed: Allah is most Great. All Praise be to Allah Who made this matter accommodative. I again asked her: What do you think; did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say the witr prayer additional prayer after obligatory prayer at night in the beginning of the night or at the end? The people told him: Hoist a flag at the time of prayer; when they see it; they will inform one another. But he the Prophet did not like it. Then someone mentioned to him the horn. Ziyad said: A horn of the Jews. He the Prophet did not like it. He said: This is the matter of the Jews. Then they mentioned to him the bell of the Christians. He said: This is the matter of the Christians. Abdullah Ibn Zayd returned anxiously from there because of the anxiety of the Apostle ﷺ. He was then taught the call to prayer in his dream. Next day he came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and informed him about it. He said: Messenger of Allah; I was between sleep and wakefulness; all of a sudden a newcomer came to me and taught me the call to prayer. Umar Ibn AlKhattab had also seen it in his dream before; but he kept it hidden for twenty days. The Prophet ﷺ said to me Umar : What did prevent you from saying it to me? He said: Abdullah Ibn Zayd had already told you about it before me: hence I was ashamed. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Bilal; stand up; see what Abdullah Ibn Zayd tells you to do ; then do it. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-28581 | Imran Bin Hosain said: Adba belonged to a man of Banu Aqil. It used to go ahead of pligrims. The man was then captivated. He was brought in chains to the Prophet ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ was riding on a donkey with a blanket on him. He said: Muhammad; why do you arrest me and capture the one i.e. the camel which goes ahead of the pilgrims. He replied: We are arresting you on account of the crime committed by your allies Thaqid. Thaqif captivated two persons from among the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ. He said whatever he said I am a Muslim; or he said: I have embraced Islam. When the Prophet ﷺ went ahead; he called him: O Muhammed; O Muhammed. Abu Dawud said: I learnt it from the version of the narrator Muhammad Bin Isa. The Prophet ﷺ was compassionate and kind hearted. So he returned to him; and asked: What is the matter with you ? He replied: I am a Muslim. He said: Had you said it when the matter was in your hand; you would have succeeded completely. Abu Dawud said: I then returned to the version of the narrator Sulaiman Bin Harb. He said: Muhammad; I am hungry; so feed me. I am thirsty; so give me water. The Prophet ﷺ said: This is your need; or he said: This is his need the narrator is doubtful. Later on the man was taken back by Thaqif as a ransom for the two men of the Companions of the Prophet. The Prophet ﷺ retained Adba for his journey. The narrator said: The polytheists raided the pasturing animals of Medina and they took away Adba. When they took away Adba; they also captivated a Muslim woman. They used to leave their camels in the fields for rest at night. One night they slept and the Muslim woman stood up. Any camel on which she put her hand brayed until she came to Adba. She came to a camel which was docile and experienced. She then rode on her and vowed to Allah that if He saved her; she would sacrifice it. When she came to Medina; the people recognized the camel of the Prophet ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ was then informed about it and he sent for her. She was brought to him and she informed him about her vow. He said: It is a bad return that you have given it. When the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ appointed a Commander over an Army or a detachment; he instructed him to fear Allaah himself and consider the welfare of the Muslims who were with him. He then said When you meet the polytheists who are your enemy; summon them tone of three things and accept whichever of them they are willing to agree to; and refrain from them. Summon them to Islam and if they agree; accept it from them and refrain from them. Then summon them to leave their territory and transfer to the abode of the Emigrants and tell them that if they do so; they will have the same rights and responsibilities as the Emigrants; but if they refuse and choose their own abode; tell them that they will be like the desert Arabs who are Muslims subject to Allaahs jurisdiction which applies to the believers; but will have no spoil or booty unless they strive with the Muslims. If they refuse demand jizyah poll tax from them; if they agree accept it from them and refrain from them. But if they refuse; seek Alaahs help and fight with them. When you invade the fortress and they its people offer to capitulate and have the matter referred to Allaahs jurisdiction; do not grant this; for you do not know whether or not you will hit on Allaahs jurisdiction regarding them. But let them capitulate and have the matter refereed to your jurisdiction and make a decision about them later on as you wish.Sufyan bin Uyainah said thah Alqamah said I mentioned this tradition to Muqatil Bin Habban; He said Muslim narrated it to me. I saw one of the polytheists prevailing over a Muslim; so I went round him till I came to him from behind and struck him with my sword at the vein between his neck and shoulder. He came towards me and closed with me; so that I felt death was near; but he was overtaken by death and let me go. I then caught upon on Umar Bin AlKhattab and said to him What is the matter with the people? He said It is what Allaah has commanded. Then the people returned and the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ sat down and said If anyone kills a man and can prove it; he will get his spoil. I stood up and said Who will testify for me? I then sat down. He said again If anyone kills a man and can prove it; he will get his spoil. I stood up and said Who will testify for me? I then sat down. He then said the same for the third time. I then stood up. The Apostle of Allaah ﷺ said What is the matter with you; Abu Qatadah? I told him the story. A man from the people said He has spoken the truth; and I have this spoil with me; so make him agreeable to take something in exchange. Abu Bakr said In that case I swear by Allaah that he must not do so. One of the Allaahs heroes does not fight for Allaah and his Apostle and then give you his spoil. MuwataMalik-017-001-35351 | Yahya related to me from Malik that he heard Rabia Ibn Abdulrahman say that a slave could marry four women. Malik said; This is the best of what I have heard about the matter. Malik said; The slave differs with the muhallil if the slave is given permission by his master for his ex-wife. If his master does not give him permission; he separates them. The muhallil is separated in any case if he intends to make the woman halal by marriage. Malik said; When a slave is owned by his wife or a husband owns his wife; the possession of each of them is rendered void without divorce. If a man; for instance; is married to a slave-girl; and then he buys her; he must divorce her as a matter of course. They can then re- marry. If they re-marry afterwards; that separation was not divorce. Malik said; When a slave is freed by his wife who owns him and she is in the idda-period from him; they can only return to each other after she has made another marriage. | The Chapter on Slave Girls And Sexual Intercourse in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Vows and Oaths in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35491 | Yahya related to me from Malik from Sumay; the mawla of Abu Bakr Ibn Abdulrahman Ibn AlHarith Ibn Hisham that he heard Abu Bakr Ibn Abdulrahman Ibn AlHarith Ibn Hisham say; My father and I were with Marwan Ibn AlHakam at the time when he was amir of Madina; and someone mentioned to him that Abu Huraira used to say; If someone begins the morning junub; he has broken the fast for that day. Marwan said; I swear to you; Abdar-Rahman; you must go to the two umm Almuminin; Aisha and Umm Salamah; and ask them about it. Abdulrahman went to visit Aisha and I accompanied him. He greeted her and then said; Umm Almuminin; we were with Marwan Ibn AlHakam and someone mentioned to him that Abu Huraira used to say that if some one had begun the morning junub; he had broken the fast for that day. Aisha said; It is not as Abu Huraira says Abdulrahman Do you dislike what the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; used to do?; and Abdulrahman said; No; by Allah. Aisha said; I bear witness that the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; used to get up in the morning junub from intercourse; not a dream; and would then fast for that day. He continued; Then we went and visited Umm Salamah; and Abdulrahman asked her about the same matter and she said the same as Aisha had said. Then we went off until we came to Marwan Ibn AlHakam Abdulrahman told him what they had both said and Marwan said; I swear to you; Abu Muhammad; you must use the mount which is at the door; and go to Abu Huraira; who is on his land at AlAqiq; and tell him this. So Abdulrahman rode off; and I went with him; until we came to Abu Huraira. MuwataMalik-017-001-35493 | Yahya related to me from Malik from Zayd Ibn Aslam from Ata Ibn Yasar that a certain man kissed his wife while he was fasting in Ramadan. This made him very anxious; and so he sent his wife to the Prophet; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; to ask him about that for him. She went in and saw Umm Salamah; the wife of the Prophet; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; and mentioned the matter to her; and Umm Salamah told her that the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; used to kiss while he was fasting. So she went back and told her husband that; but it only made him find fault all the more and he said; We are not like the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace. Allah makes permissible for the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; whatever He wishes. His wife then went back to Umm Salamah and found the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; with her. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; What the matter with this woman?; and Umm Salamah told him. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; Didnt you tell her that I do that myself? and she said; I told her; and she went to her husband and told him; but it only made him find fault all the more and say; We are not like the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace. Allah makes permissible for His Messenger; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; whatever He wishes. MuwataMalik-017-001-35528 | Yahya related to me from Malik from Zayd Ibn Aslam from his brother Khalid Ibn Aslam that Umar Ibn AlKhattab once broke thefast on a cloudy day thinking that evening had come and the sun had set. Then a man came to him and said; Amir Almuminin; the sun has come out; and Umar said; That an easy matter. It was our deduction ijtihad. MuwataMalik-017-001-35902 | Yahya related to me from Malik that he had heard that Abdullah Ibn Abbas used to say; The least difficult thing acceptable as a sacrificial animal is a sheep. Malik said; That is what I like most out of what I have heard about the matter; because Allah; the Blessed and Exalted; says in His Book; O you who trust; do not kill game while you are in ihram. Whoever of you kills it intentionally; there shall be repayment the like of what he has slain; from livestock; as shall be judged by two men of justice among you; a sacrificial animal which will reach the Kaba; or food for poor people; or the equivalent of that in fasting; Surat 5 ayat 95 and a sheep is one of the animals which is judged to be acceptable as a sacrifice. Allah has called it a sacrificial animal; and there is no dispute among us about the matter. How; indeed; could anyone be in doubt about the matter? A sheep is the kaffara for anything which does not reach the extent of something for which a camel or a cow would be the kaffara; and the kaffara for something which does not reach the extent of something for which a sheep would be the kaffara is fasting; or feeding poor people. | The Chapter on Live Stock Sheep For Food in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Business Transactions in Muwata Malik |
