SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1070 | Narrated Ata Bin Yazid AlLaithi: On the authority of Abu Huraira: The people said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Shall we see our Lord on the Day of Resurrection? The Prophet ﷺ said; Do you have any difficulty in seeing the moon on a full moon night? They said; No; O Allah Messenger ﷺ. He said; Do you have any difficulty in seeing the sun when there are no clouds? They said; No; O Allah Messenger ﷺ. He said; So you will see Him; like that. Allah will gather all the people on the Day of Resurrection; and say; Whoever worshipped something in the world should follow that thing ; so; whoever worshipped the sun will follow the sun; and whoever worshiped the moon will follow the moon; and whoever used to worship certain other false deities; he will follow those deities. And there will remain only this nation with its good people or its hypocrites. The sub-narrator; Ibrahim is in doubt. Allah will come to them and say; I am your Lord. They will deny Him and say; We will stay here till our Lord comes; for when our Lord comes; we will recognize Him. So Allah will come to them in His appearance which they know; and will say; I am your Lord. They will say; You are our Lord; so they will follow Him. Then a bridge will be laid across Hell Fire I and my followers will be the first ones to go across it and none will speak on that Day except the Apostles. And the invocation of the Apostles on that Day will be; O Allah; save! Save! In Hell or over The Bridge there will be hooks like the thorns of AlSadan thorny plant. Have you seen AlSadan? They replied; Yes; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! He said; So those hooks look like the thorns of AlSadan; but none knows how big they are except Allah. Those hooks will snap the people away according to their deeds. Some of the people will stay in Hell be destroyed because of their evil deeds; and some will be cut or torn by the hooks and fall into Hell and some will be punished and then relieved. When Allah has finished His Judgments among the people; He will take whomever He will out of Hell through His Mercy. He will then order the angels to take out of the Fire all those who used to worship none but Allah from among those whom Allah wanted to be merciful to and those who testified in the world that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah. The angels will recognize them in the Fire by the marks of prostration on their foreheads ; for the Fire will eat up all the human body except the mark caused by prostration as Allah has forbidden the Fire to eat the mark of prostration. They will come out of the Hell Fire; completely burnt and then the water of life will be poured over them and they will grow under it as does a seed that comes in the mud of the torrent. Then Allah will finish the judgments among the people; and there will remain one man facing the Hell Fire and he will be the last person among the people of Hell to enter Paradise. He will say; O my Lord! Please turn my face away from the fire because its air has hurt me and its severe heat has burnt me. So he will invoke Allah in the way Allah will wish him to invoke; and then Allah will say to him; If I grant you that; will you then ask for anything else? He will reply; No; by Your Power; Honor I will not ask You for anything else. He will give his Lord whatever promises and covenants Allah will demand. So Allah will turn his face away from Hell Fire. When he will face Paradise and will see it; he will remain quiet for as long as Allah will wish him to remain quiet; then he will say; O my Lord! Bring me near to the gate of Paradise. Allah will say to him; Didnt you give your promises and covenants that you would never ask for anything more than what you had been given? Woe on you; O Adam son! How treacherous you are! He will say; O my lord; and will keep on invoking Allah till He says to him; If I give what you are asking; will you then ask for anything else? He will reply; No; by Your Honor Power; I will not ask for anything else. Then he will give covenants and promises to Allah and then Allah will bring him near to the gate of Paradise. When he stands at the gate of Paradise; Paradise will be opened and spread before him; and he will see its splendor and pleasures whereupon he will remain quiet as long as Allah will wish him to remain quiet; and then he will say; O my Lord! Admit me into Paradise. Allah will say; Didnt you give your covenants and promises that you would not ask for anything more than what you had been given? Allah will say; Woe on you; O Adam son! How treacherous you are! The man will say; O my Lord! Do not make me the most miserable of Your creation; and he will keep on invoking Allah till Allah will laugh because of his sayings; and when Allah will laugh because of him; He will say to him; Enter Paradise; and when he will enter it; Allah will say to him; Wish for anything. So he will ask his Lord; and he will wish for a great number of things; for Allah Himself will remind him to wish for certain things by saying; Wish for so-and-so. When there is nothing more to wish for; Allah will say; This is for you; and its equal is for you as well. Ata Bin Yazid added: Abu Saeed AlKhudri who was present with Abu Huraira; did not deny whatever the latter said; but when Abu Huraira said that Allah had said; That is for you and its equal as well; Abu Saeed AlKhudri said; And ten times as much; O Abu Huraira! Abu Huraira said; I do not remember; except his saying; That is for you and its equal as well. Abu Saeed AlKhudri then said; I testify that I remember the Prophet ﷺ saying; That is for you; and ten times as much. Abu Huraira then added; That man will be the last person of the people of Paradise to enter Paradise. | The Chapter on Worship To Save Oneself From Hell Fire in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Some faces that Day shall be Nadirah Looking at their Lord in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1071 | Narrated Abu Saeed AlKhudri: We said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Shall we see our Lord on the Day of Resurrection? He said; Do you have any difficulty in seeing the sun and the moon when the sky is clear? We said; No. He said; So you will have no difficulty in seeing your Lord on that Day as you have no difficulty in seeing the sun and the moon in a clear sky. The Prophet then said; Somebody will then announce; Let every nation follow what they used to worship. So the companions of the cross will go with their cross; and the idolators will go with their idols; and the companions of every god false deities will go with their god; till there remain those who used to worship Allah; both the obedient ones and the mischievous ones; and some of the people of the Scripture. Then Hell will be presented to them as if it were a mirage. Then it will be said to the Jews; What did you use to worship? They will reply; We used to worship Ezra; the son of Allah. It will be said to them; You are liars; for Allah has neither a wife nor a son. What do you want now ? They will reply; We want You to provide us with water. Then it will be said to them Drink; and they will fall down in Hell instead. Then it will be said to the Christians; What did you use to worship? They will reply; We used to worship Messiah; the son of Allah. It will be said; You are liars; for Allah has neither a wife nor a son. What: do you want now ? They will say; We want You to provide us with water. It will be said to them; Drink; and they will fall down in Hell instead. When there remain only those who used to worship Allah Alone ; both the obedient ones and the mischievous ones; it will be said to them; What keeps you here when all the people have gone? They will say; We parted with them in the world when we were in greater need of them than we are today; we heard the call of one proclaiming; Let every nation follow what they used to worship; and now we are waiting for our Lord. Then the Almighty will come to them in a shape other than the one which they saw the first time; and He will say; I am your Lord; and they will say; You are not our Lord. And none will speak: to Him then but the Prophets; and then it will be said to them; Do you know any sign by which you can recognize Him? They will say. The Shin; and so Allah will then uncover His Shin whereupon every believer will prostrate before Him and there will remain those who used to prostrate before Him just for showing off and for gaining good reputation. These people will try to prostrate but their backs will be rigid like one piece of a wood and they will not be able to prostrate. Then the bridge will be laid across Hell. We; the companions of the Prophet ﷺ said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! What is the bridge? He said; It is a slippery bridge on which there are clamps and Hooks like a thorny seed that is wide at one side and narrow at the other and has thorns with bent ends. Such a thorny seed is found in Najd and is called AlSadan. Some of the believers will cross the bridge as quickly as the wink of an eye; some others as quick as lightning; a strong wind; fast horses or camels. So some will be safe without any harm; some will be safe after receiving some scratches; and some will fall down into Hell Fire. The last person will cross by being dragged over the bridge. The Prophet ﷺ said; You Muslims cannot be more pressing in claiming from me a right that has been clearly proved to be yours than the believers in interceding with Almighty for their Muslim brothers on that Day; when they see themselves safe. They will say; O Allah! Save our brothers for they used to pray with us; fast with us and also do good deeds with us. Allah will say; Go and take out of Hell anyone in whose heart you find faith equal to the weight of one gold Dinar. Allah will forbid the Fire to burn the faces of those sinners. They will go to them and find some of them in Hell Fire up to their feet; and some up to the middle of their legs. So they will take out those whom they will recognize and then they will return; and Allah will say to them ; Go and take out of Hell anyone in whose heart you find faith equal to the weight of one half Dinar. They will take out whomever they will recognize and return; and then Allah will say; Go and take out of Hell anyone in whose heart you find faith equal to the weight of an atom or a smallest ant ; and so they will take out all those whom they will recognize. Abu Saeed said: If you do not believe me then read the Holy Verse:- Surely! Allah wrongs not even of the weight of an atom or a smallest ant but if there is any good done He doubles it. 4.40 The Prophet added; Then the prophets and Angels and the believers will intercede; and last of all the Almighty Allah will say; Now remains My Intercession. He will then hold a handful of the Fire from which He will take out some people whose bodies have been burnt; and they will be thrown into a river at the entrance of Paradise; called the water of life. They will grow on its banks; as a seed carried by the torrent grows. You have noticed how it grows beside a rock or beside a tree; and how the side facing the sun is usually green while the side facing the shade is white. Those people will come out of the River of Life like pearls; and they will have golden necklaces; and then they will enter Paradise whereupon the people of Paradise will say; These are the people emancipated by the Beneficent. He has admitted them into Paradise without them having done any good deeds and without sending forth any good for themselves. Then it will be said to them; For you is what you have seen and its equivalent as well. | The Chapter on Worship To Save Oneself From Hell Fire in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Some faces that Day shall be Nadirah Looking at their Lord in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1138 | Narrated Abu Huraira: I heard the Prophet ﷺ saying; If somebody commits a sin and then says; O my Lord! I have sinned; please forgive me! and his Lord says; My slave has known that he has a Lord who forgives sins and punishes for it; I therefore have forgiven my slave his sins. Then he remains without committing any sin for a while and then again commits another sin and says; O my Lord; I have committed another sin; please forgive me; and Allah says; My slave has known that he has a Lord who forgives sins and punishes for it; I therefore have forgiven my slave his sin. Then he remains without Committing any another sin for a while and then commits another sin for the third time and says; O my Lord; I have committed another sin; please forgive me; and Allah says; My slave has known that he has a Lord Who forgives sins and punishes for it I therefore have forgiven My slave his sin ; he can do whatever he likes. | The Chapter on Forgiveness And Worship in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on They want to change Allahs Words in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1288 | Narrated Zaid Bin Thabit: Abu Bakr sent for me owing to the large number of casualties in the battle of AlYamama; while Umar was sitting with him. Abu Bakr said to me ; Umar has come to my and said; A great number of Qaris of the Holy Quran were killed on the day of the battle of AlYamama; and I am afraid that the casualties among the Qaris of the Quran may increase on other battle-fields whereby a large part of the Quran may be lost. Therefore I consider it advisable that you Abu Bakr should have the Quran collected. I said; How dare I do something which Allah Messenger ﷺ did not do? Umar said; By Allah; it is something beneficial. Umar kept on pressing me for that till Allah opened my chest for that for which He had opened the chest of Umar and I had in that matter; the same opinion as Umar had. Abu Bakr then said to me Zaid ; You are a wise young man and we do not have any suspicion about you; and you used to write the Divine Inspiration for Allah Messenger ﷺ. So you should search for the fragmentary scripts of the Quran and collect it in one Book. Zaid further said: By Allah; if Abu Bakr had ordered me to shift a mountain among the mountains from one place to another it would not have been heavier for me than this ordering me to collect the Quran. Then I said to Umar and Abu Bakr ; How can you do something which Allah Messenger ﷺ did not do? Abu Bakr said; By Allah; it is something beneficial. Zaid added: So he Abu Bakr kept on pressing me for that until Allah opened my chest for that for which He had opened the chests of Abu Bakr and Umar; and I had in that matter; the same opinion as theirs. So I started compiling the Quran by collecting it from the leafless stalks of the date-palm tree and from the pieces of leather and hides and from the stones; and from the chests of men who had memorized the Quran. I found the last verses of Surat AlTauba: Verily there has come unto you an Apostle Muhammad from amongst yourselves- 9.128-129 from Khuzaima or Abi Khuzaima and I added to it the rest of the Sura. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1683 | Narrated Malik Bin Aus: I went and entered upon Umar; his doorman; Yarfa came saying Uthman; Abdulrahman AlZubair and Saad are asking your permission to see you. May I admit them? Umar said; Yes. So he admitted them Then he came again and said; May I admit Ali and Abbas? He said; Yes. Abbas said; O; chief of the believers! Judge between me and this man Ali. Umar said; I beseech you by Allah by Whose permission both the heaven and the earth exist; do you know that Allah Messenger ﷺ said; Our the Apostles property will not be inherited; and whatever we leave after our death is to be spent in charity? And by that Allah Messenger ﷺ meant himself. The group said; No doubt ; he said so. Umar then faced Ali and Abbas and said; Do you both know that Allah Messenger ﷺ said that? They replied; No doubt ; he said so. Umar said; So let me talk to you about this matter. Allah favored His Apostle with something of this Fai i.e. booty won by the Muslims at war without fighting which He did not give to anybody else; Allah said:- And what Allah gave to His Apostle Fai Booty.........to do all things.... 59.6 And so that property was only for Allah Messenger ﷺ. Yet; by Allah; he neither gathered that property for himself nor withheld it from you; but he gave its income to you; and distributed it among you till there remained the present property out of which the Prophet ﷺ used to spend the yearly maintenance for his family; and whatever used to remain; he used to spend it where Allah property is spent i.e. in charity etc.. Allah Messenger ﷺ followed that throughout his life. Now I beseech you by Allah; do you know all that? They said; Yes. Umar then said to Ali and Abbas; I beseech you by Allah; do you know that? Both of them said; Yes. Umar added; And when the Prophet ﷺ died; Abu Bakr said; I am the successor of Allah Messenger ﷺ ; and took charge of that property and managed it in the same way as Allah Messenger ﷺ did. Then I took charge of this property for two years during which I managed it as Allah Messenger ﷺ and Abu Bakr did. Then you both Ali and Abbas came to talk to me; bearing the same claim and presenting the same case. O Abbas! You came to me asking for your share from the property of your nephew; and this man Ali came to me; asking for the share of h is wife from the property of her father. I said; If you both wish; I will give that to you on that condition i.e. that you would follow the way of the Prophet ﷺ and Abu Bakr and as I Umar have done in man aging it. Now both of you seek of me a verdict other than that? Lo! By Allah; by Whose permission both the heaven and the earth exist; I will not give any verdict other than that till the Hour is established. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1941 | Narrated Abu Dhar: While I was walking with the Prophet ﷺ at the Hurra of Medina in the evening; the mountain of Uhud appeared before us. The Prophet ﷺ said; O Abu Dhar! I would not like to have gold equal to Uhud mountain for me; unless nothing of it; not even a single Dinar remains of it with me; for more than one day or three days; except that single Dinar which I will keep for repaying debts. I will spend all of it the whole amount among Allah slaves like this and like this and like this. The Prophet ﷺ pointed out with his hand to illustrate it and then said; O Abu Dhar! I replied; Labbaik wa Sadaik; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! He said; Those who have much wealth in this world will be the least rewarded in the Hereafter except those who do like this and like this i.e.; spend their money in charity. Then he ordered me; Remain at your place and do not leave it; O Abu Dhar; till I come back. He went away till he disappeared from me. Then I heard a voice and feared that something might have happened to Allah Messenger ﷺ ; and I intended to go to find out but I remembered the statement of Allah Messenger ﷺ that I should not leave; my place; so I kept on waiting and after a while the Prophet ﷺ came ; and I said to him; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ; I heard a voice and I was afraid that something might have happened to you; but then I remembered your statement and stayed there. The Prophet ﷺ said; That was Gabriel who came to me and informed me that whoever among my followers died without joining others in worship with Allah; would enter Paradise. When he noticed that; he got up; and when he had got up; some of those people got up along with him and there remained three who kept on sitting. Then the Prophet ﷺ came back and found those people still sitting. Later on those people got up and went away. So I went to the Prophet ﷺ and informed him that they had left. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2153 | Narrated Abu Huraira: By Allah except Whom none has the right to- be worshipped; sometimes I used to lay sleep on the ground on my liver abdomen because of hunger; and sometimes I used to bind a stone over my belly because of hunger. One day I sat by the way from where they the Prophet ﷺ and h is companions used to come out. When Abu Bakr passed by; I asked him about a Verse from Allah Book and I asked him only that he might satisfy my hunger; but he passed by and did not do so. Then Umar passed by me and I asked him about a Verse from Allah Book; and I asked him only that he might satisfy my hunger; but he passed by without doing so. Finally Abu AlQasim the Prophet ﷺ passed by me and he smiled when he saw me; for he knew what was in my heart and on my face. He said; O Aba Hirr Abu Huraira ! I replied; Labbaik; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! He said to me; Follow me. He left and I followed him. Then he entered the house and I asked permission to enter and was admitted. He found milk in a bowl and said; From where is this milk? They said; It has been presented to you by such-and-such man or by such and such woman. He said; O Aba Hirr! I said; Labbaik; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! He said; Go and call the people of Suffa to me. These people of Suffa were the guests of Islam who had no families; nor money; nor anybody to depend upon; and whenever an object of charity was brought to the Prophet ﷺ ; he would send it to them and would not take anything from it; and whenever any present was given to him; he used to send some for them and take some of it for himself. The order off the Prophet upset me; and I said to myself; How will this little milk be enough for the people of AlSuffa? thought I was more entitled to drink from that milk in order to strengthen myself; but behold! The Prophet ﷺ came to order me to give that milk to them. I wondered what will remain of that milk for me; but anyway; I could not but obey Allah and His Apostle so I went to the people of AlSuffa and called them; and they came and asked the Prophet permission to enter. They were admitted and took their seats in the house. The Prophet ﷺ said; O Aba Hirr! I said; Labbaik; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! He said; Take it and give it to them. So I took the bowl of Milk and started giving it to one man who would drink his fill and return it to me; whereupon I would give it to another man who; in his turn; would drink his fill and return it to me; and I would then offer it to another man who would drink his fill and return it to me. Finally; after the whole group had drunk their fill; I reached the Prophet ﷺ who took the bowl and put it on his hand; looked at me and smiled and said. O Aba Hirr! I replied; Labbaik; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! He said; There remain you and I. I said; You have said the truth; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! He said; Sit down and drink. I sat down and drank. He said; Drink; and I drank. He kept on telling me repeatedly to drink; till I said; No. by Allah Who sent you with the Truth; I have no space for it in my stomach. He said; Hand it over to me. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2273 | Narrated Abu Huraira: Some people said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Shall we see our Lord on the Day of Resurrection? He said; Do you crowd and squeeze each other on looking at the sun when it is not hidden by clouds? They replied; No; Allah Messenger ﷺ. He said; Do you crowd and squeeze each other on looking at the moon when it is full and not hidden by clouds? They replied; No; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! He said; So you will see Him your Lord on the Day of Resurrection similarly Allah will gather all the people and say; Whoever used to worship anything should follow that thing. So; he who used to worship the sun; will follow it; and he who used to worship the moon will follow it; and he who used to worship false deities will follow them; and then only this nation i.e.; Muslims will remain; including their hypocrites. Allah will come to them in a shape other than they know and will say; I am your Lord. They will say; We seek refuge with Allah from you. This is our place; we will not follow you till our Lord comes to us; and when our Lord comes to us; we will recognize Him. Then Allah will come to then in a shape they know and will say; I am your Lord. They will say; No doubt You are our Lord; and they will follow Him. Then a bridge will be laid over the Hell Fire. Allah Messenger ﷺ added; I will be the first to cross it. And the invocation of the Apostles on that Day; will be Allahumma Sallim; Sallim O Allah; save us; save us! ; and over that bridge there will be hooks Similar to the thorns of As Sadan a thorny tree. Didnt you see the thorns of AlSadan? The companions said; Yes; O Allah Messenger ﷺ. He added; So the hooks over that bridge will be like the thorns of AlSa-dan except that their greatness in size is only known to Allah. These hooks will snatch the people according to their deeds. Some people will be ruined because of their evil deeds; and some will be cut into pieces and fall down in Hell; but will be saved afterwards; when Allah has finished the judgments among His slaves; and intends to take out of the Fire whoever He wishes to take out from among those who used to testify that none had the right to be worshipped but Allah. We will order the angels to take them out and the angels will know them by the mark of the traces of prostration on their foreheads for Allah banned the f ire to consume the traces of prostration on the body of Adam son. So they will take them out; and by then they would have burnt as coal ; and then water; called Maul Hayat water of life will be poured on them; and they will spring out like a seed springs out on the bank of a rainwater stream; and there will remain one man who will be facing the Hell Fire and will say; O Lord! It Hells vapor has Poisoned and smoked me and its flame has burnt me; please turn my face away from the Fire. He will keep on invoking Allah till Allah says; Perhaps; if I give you what you want ; you will ask for another thing? The man will say; No; by Your Power; I will not ask You for anything else. Then Allah will turn his face away from the Fire. The man will say after that; O Lord; bring me near the gate of Paradise. Allah will say to him ; Didnt you promise not to ask for anything else? Woe to you; O son of Adam ! How treacherous you are! The man will keep on invoking Allah till Allah will say; But if I give you that; you may ask me for something else. The man will say; No; by Your Power. I will not ask for anything else. He will give Allah his covenant and promise not to ask for anything else after that. So Allah will bring him near to the gate of Paradise; and when he sees what is in it; he will remain silent as long as Allah will; and then he will say; O Lord! Let me enter Paradise. Allah will say; Didnt you promise that you would not ask Me for anything other than that? Woe to you; O son of Adam ! How treacherous you are! On that; the man will say; O Lord! Do not make me the most wretched of Your creation; and will keep on invoking Allah till Allah will smile and when Allah will smile because of him; then He will allow him to enter Paradise; and when he will enter Paradise; he will be addressed; Wish from so-and-so. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3095 | Narrated Jabir Bin Abdullah: There was a Jew in Medina who used to lend me money up to the season of plucking dates. Jabir had a piece of land which was on the way to Ruma. That year the land was not promising; so the payment of the debt was delayed one year. The Jew came to me at the time of plucking; but gathered nothing from my land. I asked him to give me one year respite; but he refused. This news reached the Prophet ﷺ whereupon he said to his companions; Let us go and ask the Jew for respite for Jabir. All of them came to me in my garden; and the Prophet ﷺ started speaking to the Jew; but he Jew said; O Abu Qasim! I will not grant him respite. When the Prophet ﷺ saw the Jew attitude; he stood up and walked all around the garden and came again and talked to the Jew; but the Jew refused his request. I got up and brought some ripe fresh dates and put it in front of the Prophet. He ate and then said to me; Where is your hut; O Jabir? I informed him; and he said; Spread out a bed for me in it. I spread out a bed; and he entered and slept. When he woke up; I brought some dates to him again and he ate of it and then got up and talked to the Jew again; but the Jew again refused his request. Then the Prophet ﷺ got up for the second time amidst the palm trees loaded with fresh dates; and said; O Jabir! Pluck dates to repay your debt. While I was sitting there with him his gate-keeper; Yarfa; came and said; Uthman Abdulrahman bin Auf ; AlZubair and Saad bin Abi Waqqas are seeking permission to meet you. Umar said; Yes. So he admitted them and they entered; greeted; and sat down. After a short while Yarfa came again and said to Umar Shall I admit Ali and Abbas? Umar said; Yes. He admitted them and when they entered; they greeted and sat down. Abbas said; O Chief of the Believers! Judge between me and this Ali. The group; Uthman and his companions Sad; O Chief of the Believers! Judge between them and relieve one from the other. Umar said. Wait! I beseech you by Allah; by Whose permission both the Heaven and the Earth stand fast ! Do you know that Allah Messenger ﷺ said. We Apostles do not bequeath anything to our heirs; but whatever we leave is to be given in charity. And by that Allah Messenger ﷺ s meant himself? The group said; He did say so. Umar then turned towards All and Abbas and said. I beseech you both by Allah; do you know that Allah Messenger ﷺ said that? They said; Yes Umar said; Now; let me talk to you about this matter. Allah favored His Apostle with something of this property war booty which He did not give to anybody else. And Allah said:- And what Allah has bestowed on His Apostle as Fai Booty from them for which you made no expedition with either cavalry or camelry... Allah is Able to do all things. 59.6 So this property was especially granted to Allah Messenger ﷺ. But by Allah he neither withheld it from you; nor did he keep it for himself and deprive you of it; but he gave it all to you and distributed it among you till only this remained out of it. And out of this property Allah Messenger ﷺ used to provide his family with their yearly needs; and whatever remained; he would spend where Allah Property the revenues of Zakat used to be spent. Allah Messenger ﷺ kept on acting like this throughout his lifetime. Now I beseech you by Allah; do you know that? They said; Yes. Then Umar said to Ali and Abbas; I beseech you by Allah; do you both know that? They said; Yes. Umar added; When Allah had taken His Apostle unto Him; Abu Bakr said; I am the successor of Allah Messenger ﷺ. So he took charge of that property and did with it the same what Allah Messenger ﷺ used to do; and both of you knew all about it then. Then Umar turned towards Ali and Abbas and said; You both claim that Abu Bakr was so-and-so! But Allah knows that he was honest; sincere; pious and right in that matter. Then Allah caused Abu Bakr to die; and I said; I am the successor of Allah Messenger ﷺ and Abu Bakr. So I kept this property in my possession for the first two years of my rule; and I used to do the same with it as Allah Messenger ﷺ and Abu Bakr used to do. Later both of you Ali and Abbas came to me with the same claim and the same problem. O Abbas! You came to me demanding your share from the inheritance of the son of your brother; and he Ali came to me demanding his wives share from the inheritance of her father. So I said to you; If you wish I will hand over this property to you; on condition that you both promise me before Allah that you will manage it in the same way as Allah Messenger ﷺ and Abu Bakr did; and as I have done since the beginning of my rule; otherwise you should not speak to me about it. So you both said; Hand over this property to us on this condition. And on this condition I handed it over to you. I beseech you by Allah; did I hand it over to them on that condition? The group said; Yes. Umar then faced Ali and Abbas and said; I beseech you both by Allah; did I hand it over to you both on that condition? They both said; Yes. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-4196 | Narrated Saeed Bin Jubair: I said to Ibn Abbas; Nauf AlBukah claims that Moses; the companion of AlKhadir was not Moses the prophet of the children of Israel; but some other Moses. Ibn Abbas said; Allah enemy i.e. Nauf has told a lie. Ubai Bin Kaab told us that the Prophet ﷺ said; Once Moses stood up and addressed Bani Israel. He was asked who was the most learned man amongst the people. He said; I. Allah admonished him as he did not attribute absolute knowledge to Him Allah. So; Allah said to him; Yes; at the junction of the two seas there is a Slave of Mine who is more learned than you. Moses said; O my Lord! How can I meet him? Allah said; Take a fish and put it in a large basket and you will find him at the place where you will lose the fish. Moses took a fish and put it in a basket and proceeded along with his servant boy; Yusha Bin Noon; till they reached the rock where they laid their heads i.e. lay down. Moses slept; and the fish; moving out of the basket; fell into the sea. It took its way into the sea straight as in a tunnel. Allah stopped the flow of water over the fish and it became like an arch the Prophet ﷺ pointed out this arch with his hands. They travelled the rest of the night; and the next day Moses said to his boy servant ; Give us our food; for indeed; we have suffered much fatigue in this journey of ours. Moses did not feel tired till he crossed that place which Allah had ordered him to seek after. His boy servant said to him; Do you know that when we were sitting near that rock; I forgot the fish; and none but Satan caused me to forget to tell you about it; and it took its course into the sea in an amazing way?. So there was a path for the fish and that astonished them. Moses said; That was what we were seeking after. So; both of them retraced their footsteps till they reached the rock. There they saw a man Lying covered with a garment. Moses greeted him and he replied saying; How do people greet each other in your land? Moses said; I am Moses. The man asked; Moses of Bani Israel? Moses said; Yes; I have come to you so that you may teach me from those things which Allah has taught you. He said; O Moses! I have some of the Knowledge of Allah which Allah has taught me; and which you do not know; while you have some of the Knowledge of Allah which Allah has taught you and which I do not know. Moses asked; May I follow you? He said; But you will not be able to remain patient with me for how can you be patient about things which you will not be able to understand? Moses said; You will find me; if Allah so will; truly patient; and I will not disobey you in aught. So; both of them set out walking along the sea-shore; a boat passed by them and they asked the crew of the boat to take them on board. The crew recognized AlKhadir and so they took them on board without fare. When they were on board the boat; a sparrow came and stood on the edge of the boat and dipped its beak once or twice into the sea. AlKhadir said to Moses; O Moses! My knowledge and your knowledge have not decreased Allah Knowledge except as much as this sparrow has decreased the water of the sea with its beak. Then suddenly AlKhadir took an adze and plucked a plank; and Moses did not notice it till he had plucked a plank with the adze. Moses said to him; What have you done? They took us on board charging us nothing; yet you I have intentionally made a hole in their boat so as to drown its passengers. Verily; you have done a dreadful thing. AlKhadir replied; Did I not tell you that you would not be able to remain patient with me? Moses replied; Do not blame me for what I have forgotten; and do not be hard upon me for my fault. So the first excuse of Moses was that he had forgotten. When they had left the sea; they passed by a boy playing with other boys. AlKhadir took hold of the boys head and plucked it with his hand like this. Sufyan; the sub narrator pointed with his fingertips as if he was plucking some fruit. Moses said to him; Have you killed an innocent person who has not killed any person? You have really done a horrible thing. AlKhadir said; Did I not tell you that you could not remain patient with me? Moses said If I ask you about anything after this; dont accompany me. You have received an excuse from me. Then both of them went on till they came to some people of a village; and they asked its inhabitant for wood but they refused to entertain them as guests. Then they saw therein a wall which was just going to collapse and AlKhadir repaired it just by touching it with his hands. Sufyan; the sub-narrator; pointed with his hands; illustrating how AlKhadir passed his hands over the wall upwards. Moses said; These are the people whom we have called on; but they neither gave us food; nor entertained us as guests; yet you have repaired their wall. If you had wished; you could have taken wages for it. AlKhadir said; This is the parting between you and me; and I shall tell you the explanation of those things on which you could not remain patient. The Prophet ﷺ added; We wished that Moses could have remained patient by virtue of which Allah might have told us more about their story. I see that the example of what has passed of this life to what remains thereof is like a pond whose fresh water has been used up and nothing remains but muddy water. | The Chapter on Communication And Answers in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The Imam should order the people to do only within their ability in Sahih AlBukhari

SahihMuslim-017-001-17336 | Abu Bakra reported that in the Farewell Address Allah Apostle ﷺ said: Time has completed a cycle and come to the state of the day when Allah created the heavens and the earth. The year is constituted of twelve months; of which four are sacred; three of them consecutive; viz. Dh AlQada; Dhu AlHijja and Muharram; and also Rajab the month of Mudar which comes between Jumada and Shaban. He the Holy Prophet then said: which month is this? We said Allah and His Messenger know best. He the narrator said: He the Holy Prophet remained silent for some time until we thought that he would give it a name other than that by which it was known. He said: Is it not Dhal-Hijja? We said: Yes. He the Holy Prophet said: Which city is this? We said: Allah and His Messenger know best. He the Holy Prophety remained silent until we thought that he would give it another name. He the Holy Prophet said: Is it not the Balda the city of Mecca ? We said: Yes. He said: What day is this? We said: Allah and His Messenger know best. He the Holy Prophet remained silent until we thought that he would give it another name. He said: Is it not the Day of Sacrifice? We said: Allah Messenger. yes. Thereupon he said: Your blood; your property Muhammad; one of the narrators; said: I think; he also said this and your honour are sacred to you like the sacredness of this day of yours; in this city of yours; and in this month of yours. You will soon meet your Lord and He will ask you about your deeds. So do not turn after me unbelievers or misguided ; some of you striking the necks of the others. Behold I let him who is present convey to him who is absent; for many a one whom a message is conveyed has a more retentive memory than one who hears. He again said: Behold! have I not delivered the message to you? This hadith has been narrated through another chain of transmitters; but with a slight variation of words. | The Chapter on Communication The Prophet Asking The Companions in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 9 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-17724 | It has been reported on the authority of Abu Humaid AlSaidi who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ appointed a man from the Azd tribe. called Ibn Al; Utbiya; in charge of Sadaqat to be received from Banu Sulaim. When he came back ; the Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked him to render his account. He said: This wealth is for you i. e. for the public treasury and this is a gift presented to me. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: You should have remained in the house of your father and your mother; until your gift came to you if you spoke the truth; then he addressed us. He praised God and extolled Him; and afterwards said: I appoint a man from you to a responsible post sharing with the authority that God has entrusted to me; and he comes to me saying: This wealth is for you i. e. for the public treasury and this is a gift presented to me. Why did he not remain in the house of his father and his mother and his gift came to him; if he was truthful? By God; any one of you will not take anything from the public funds without any justification; but will meet his Lord carrying it on himself on the Day of judgment. I will recognise any one of you meeting Allah and carrying a growling camel; or a cow bellowing or a goat bleating. Then he raised his hands so high that whiteness of his armpits could be seen. Then he said: O my Lord; I have conveyed Thy Commandments. SahihMuslim-017-001-17930 | It has been narrated on the authority of Thauban that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: A group of people from my Umma will always remain triumphant on the right path and continue to be triumphant against their opponents. He who deserts them shall not be able to do them any harm. They will remain in this position until Allah Command is executed i.e. Qiyamah is established. SahihMuslim-017-001-17937 | It has been narrated on the authority of Abdulrahman Bin Shamasa AlMahri who said: I was in the company of Maslama Bin Mukhallad; and Abdullah Bin Amr Bin As was with him. Abdullah said: The Hour shall some oniy when the worst type of people are left on the earth. They will be worse than the people of pre-Islamic days. They will get whatever they ask of Allah. While we were yet sitting when Uqba Bin Amir came; and Maslama said to him: Uqba; listen to what Abdullah says. Uqba said: He knows better; so far as I am concerned; I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: A group of people from my Umma will continue to fight in obedience to the Command of Allah; remaining dominant over their enemies. Those who will oppose them shall not do them any harm. They will remain ill this condition until the Hour overtakes them. At this Abdullah said: Yes. Then Allah will raise a wild which will be fragrant like musk and whose touch will be like the touch of silk; but it will cause the death of all faithful persons; not leaving behind a single person with an iota of faith in his heart. Then only the worst of men will remain to be overwhelmed by the Hour. | The Chapter on Hour And Day Of Truth in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 53 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-18688 | It is narrated on the authority of Abu Dharr that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ one day said: Do you know where the sun goes? They replied: Allah and His Apostle know best. He the Holy Prophet observed: Verily it the sun glides till it reaches its resting place under the Throne. Then it falls prostrate and remains there until it is asked: Rise up and go to the place whence you came; and it goes back and continues emerging out from its rising place and then glides till it reaches its place of rest under the Throne and falls prostrate and remains in that state until it is asked: Rise up and return to the place whence you came; and it returns and emerges out from it rising place and the it glides in such a normal way that the people do not discern anything unusual in it till it reaches its resting place under the Throne. Then it would be said to it: Rise up and emerge out from the place of your setting; and it will rise from the place of its setting. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said. Do you know when it would happen? It would happen at the time when faith will not benefit one who has not previously believed or has derived no good from the faith. | The Chapter on Mischief Noon Rope And Death in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 72 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-18740 | Abu Haraira reported: The people said to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ : Messenger of Allah; shall we see our Lord on the Day of Resurrection? The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Do you feel any trouble in seeing the moon on the night when it is full? They said: Messenger of Allah; no. He the Messenger further said: Do you feel any trouble in seeing the sun; when there is no cloud over it? They said: Messenger of Allah. no. He the Holy Prophet said: Verily you would see Him like this as you see the sun and the moon. God will gather people on the Day of Resurrection and say: Let every people follow what they worshipped. Those who worshipped the sun would follow the sun; and those who worshipped the moon would follow the moon; and those who worshipped the devils would follow the devils. This Ummah of Islam alone would be left behind and there would be hypocrites too amongst it. Allah would then come to them in a form other than His own Form; recognisable to them; and would say: I am your Lord. They would say: We take refuge with Allah from thee. We will stay here till our Lord comes to us. and when our Lord would come we would recognise Him. Subsequently Allah would come to them in His own Form; recognisable to them; and say: I am your Lord. They would say: Thou art our Lord. And they would follow Him; and a bridge would be set over the Hell; and I the Holy Prophet and my Ummah would be the first to pass over it; and none but the messengers would speak on that day; and the prayer of the messengers on that day would be: O Allah! grant safety; grant safety. In Hell; there would be long spits like the thorns of Sadan He the Holy Prophet said: Have you seen Sadan? They replied: Yes; Messenger of Allah. He said: Verily those hooks would be like the thorns of Sadan; but no one knows their size except Allah. These would seize people for their misdeeds. Some of them would escape for their good deeds; and some would be rewarded for their deeds till they get salvation. When Allah would finish judging His bondsmen and because of His mercy decide to take out of Hell such people as He pleases. He would command the angels to bring out those who had not associated anything with Allah; to whom Allah decided to show mercy. those who would say: There is no god but Allah. They the angels would recognise them in the Fire by the marks of prostration; for Hell-fire will devour everything limb of the sons of Adam except the marks of prostration. Allah has forbidden the fire to consume the marks of prostration. They will be taken out of the Fire having been burnt; and the water of life would be poured over them; and they will sprout as seed does In the silt carried by flood. Then Allah would finish judging amongst His bondsmen; but a man who will be the last to enter Paradise will remain facing Hell and will say: O my Lord I turn my face away from Hell; for its air has poisoned me ard its blaze has burnt me. He will then call to Allah as long as Allah would wish that he should call to Him. Then Allah; Blessed and Exalted; would say: If I did that; perhaps you would ask for more than that. He would say: I would not ask You more than this; and he would give his Lord covenants and agreements as Allah wished; and so He would turn his face away from the Fire When he turns towards the Paradise and sees it; he will remain silent as long as Allah wishes him to remain so. He will then say: O my Lord I bring me forward to the gate of the Paradise. Allah would say to him: Did you not give covenants and agreements that you would not ask for anything besides what I had given you. Woe to thee! O son of Adam; how treacherous you are! He would say: O my Lord! and would continue calling to Allah till He would say to him: If I grant you that; perhaps you will ask for more. He will reply: No; by Thy greatness; and he will give His Lord promises and covenants as Allah had wished. He would then bring him to the gate of the Paradise; and when he would stand at the gate of the Paradise; it would lay open before him. and he would see the bounty and the joy that there is in it. He would remain quiet as long as Allah would desire him to remain silent. He would then say: O my Lord; admit me to Paradise. Allah. Blessed and Exalted; would say: Did you not give covenants and agreements that you would not ask for anything more than what I had granted you? Woe to you! son of Adam; how treacherous you are! And he would say: O my Lord; I do not wish to be the most miserable of Thy creatures. He would continue calling upon Allah till Allah; Blessed and Exalted; would laugh. When Allah would laugh at him; He would say: Enter the Paradise. When he would enter; Allah would say: State your wish. He would express his wishes till Allah would remind him the desire of such and such things. When his desires would be exhausted Allah would say: That is for thee and; besides it; the like of it also. Ata Bin Yazid said: Abu Saeed AlKhudri was with Abu Huraira and be did not reject anything from the hadith narrated by him; but when Abu Huraira narrated: Allah said to that man; ind its like along with it; Abu Saeed said: Ten like it along with it; O Abu Huraira. Abu Huraira said: I do not remember except the words: That is for you and a similar one along with it. Abu Saeed said: I bear witness to the fact that I remembered from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ his words: That is for thee and ten like it. SahihMuslim-017-001-19381 | Ibn Shihab reported that Allah Messenger ﷺ made an expedition to Tabuk and he the Holy Prophet had in his mind the idea of threatening the Christians of Arabia in Syria and those of Rome. Ibn Shihab further reported that Abdulrahman Bin Abdullah Bin Kaab informed him that Abdullah Bin Kaab who served as the guide of Kaab Bin Malik as he became blind that he heard Kaab Bin Malik narrate the story of his remaining behind Allah Messenger ﷺ from the Battle of Tabuk. Kaab Bin Malik said: I never remained behind Allah Messenger ﷺ from any expedition which he undertook except the Battle of Tabuk and that of the Battle of Badr. So far as the Battle of Badr is concerned; nobody was blamed for remaining behind as Allah Messenger ﷺ and the Muslims did not set out for attack but for waylaying the caravan of the Quraish; but it was Allah Who made them confront their enemies without their intention to do so. I had the honour to be with Allah Messenger ﷺ on the night of Aqaba when we pledged our allegiance to Islam and it was more dear to me than my participation in the Battle of Badr; although Badr was more popular amongst people as compared with that Tabuk. And this is my story of remaining back from Allah Messenger ﷺ on the occasion of the Battle of Tabuk. Never did I possess means enough and my circumstances more favourable than at the occasion of this expedition. And; by Allah; I had never before this expedition simultaneously in my possession two rides. Allah Messenger ﷺ set out for this expedition in extremely hot season; the journey was long and the land which he and his army had to cover was waterless and he had to confront a large army; so he informed the Muslims about the actual situation they had to face ; so that they should adequately equip themselves for this expedition; and he also told them the destination where he intended to go. And the Muslims who accompanied Allah Messenger ﷺ at that time were large in numbers but there was no proper record of them. Kaab further said: Few were the persons who wanted to absent themselves; and were under the impression that they could easily conceal themselves and thus remain undetected until revelations from Allah; the Exalted and Glorious descended in connection with them. And Allah Messenger ﷺ set out on an expedition when the fruits were ripe and their shadows had been lengthened. I had weakness for them and it was during this season that Allah Messenger ﷺ made preparations and the Muslims too along with them. I also set out in the morning so that I should make preparations along with them but I came back and did nothing and said to myself: I have means enough to make preparations as soon as I like. And I went on doing this postponing my preparations until people were about to depart and it was in the morning that Allah Messenger ﷺ set out and the Muslims too along with him; but I made no preparations. I went early in the morning and came back; but I made no decision. I continued to do so until they the Muslims hastened and covered a good deal of distance. I also made up my mind to march on and to meet them. Would that I had done that but perhaps it was not destined for me. After the departure of Allah Messenger ﷺ as I went out amongst people; I was shocked to find that I did not find anyone like me but people who were labelled as hypocrites or the people whom Allah granted exemption because of their incapacity and Allah Messenger ﷺ took no notice of me until he had reached Tabuk. One day as he was sitting amongst the people in Tabuk he said: What has happened to Kaab Bin Malik? A person from Banu Salama said: Allah Messenger; the beauty of his cloak and his appreciation of his sides have allured him and he was thus detained. Muadh Bin Jabal said: Woe be upon that what you contend. Allah Messenger; by Allah; we know nothing about him but good. Allah Messenger ﷺ ; however; kept quiet. It was during that time that he the Holy Prophet saw a person dressed in all white garment shattering the illusion of eye mirage. Thereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said: May he be Abu Khaithama and; lo; it was Abu Khaithama AlAnsari and he was that person who contributed a sa of dates and was scoffed at by the hypocrites. Kaab Bin Malik farther said: When this news reached me that Allah Messenger ﷺ was on his way back from Tabuk I was greatly perturbed. I thought of fabricating false stories and asked myself how I would save myself from his anger on the following day. In this connection; I sought the help of every prudent man from amongst the members of my family and when it was said to me that Allah Messenger ﷺ was about to arrive; all the false ideas banished from my mind and I came to the conclusion that nothing could save me but the telling of truth; so I decided to speak the truth and it was in the morning that Allah Messenger ﷺ arrived in Medina. And it was his habit that as he came back from a journey he first went to the Masjid and observed two Rakahs of nafl prayer as a mark of gratitude and then sat amongst people. And as he did that; those who had remained behind him began to put forward their excuses and take an oath before him and they were more than eighty persons. Allah Messenger ﷺ accepted their excuses on the very face of them and accepted their allegiance and sought forgiveness for them and left their secret intentions to Allah; until I presented myself to him. I greeted him and he smiled and there was a tinge of anger in that. He the Holy Prophet then said to me: Come forward. I went forward until I sat in front of him. He said to me: What kept you back? Could you not afford to go in for a ride? I said: Allah Messenger; by Allah; if I were to sit in the presence of anybody else from amongst the worldly people I would have definitely saved myself from his anger on one pretext or the other and I have also the knack to fall into argumentation; but; by Allah; I am fully aware of the fact that if I were to put forward before you a false excuse to please you Allah would definitely provoke your wrath upon me; and if I speak the truth you may be annoyed with me; but I hope that Allah would make its end well and; by Allah; there is no valid excuse for me. By Allah; I never possessed so good means; and I never had such favourable conditions for me as I had when I stayed behind you failed to join the expedition. Thereupon; Allah Messenger ﷺ said: This man told the truth; so get up until Allah gives a decision in your case. I stood up and some people of Banu Salama followed me in hot haste; and they said to me: By Allah; we do not know about you that you committed a sin prior to this. You; however; showed inability to put forward an excuse before Allah Messenger ﷺ as those who stayed behind him have put forward excuses. It would have been enough for the forgiveness of your sin that Allah Messenger ﷺ would have sought forgiveness for you. By Allah; they continued to incite me until I thought of going back to Allah Messenger ﷺ and contradict myself. Then I said to them: Has anyone else also met the same fate? They said: Yes; two persons have met the same fate as has fallen to you and they have made the sane statement as you have made; and the same verdict has been delivered in their case as it has been delivered in your case. I said: Who are they? They said: Murara Bin AlRabia Amiri and Hilal Bin Umaya AlWaqafi. They made a mention of these two pious persons to me who had participated in the Battle of Badr and there was an example for me in them. I went away when they named these two persons. Allah Messenger ﷺ forbade the Nluslims to talk with three of us from amongst those persons who had stayed behind him. The people began to avoid us and their attitude towards us underwent a change and it seemed as if the whole atmosphere had turned hostile against us and it was in fact the same atmosphere ot which I was fully aware and in which I had lived for a fairly long time. We spent fifty nights in this very state and my two friends confined themselves withen their houses and spent most of the time in weeping; but as I was young and strong amongst them I got out of my house ; participated in congregational prayers; moved about in the bazar; but none spoke to me. I came to Allah Messenger ﷺ as he sat amongst people after the prayer; greeted him and asked myself whether his lips stirred in response to my greetings or not. Then I observed prayer beside him and looked at him with stealing glances and when I attended to my prayer; he looked at me and when I cast a glance at him he turned away his eyes from me. And when the harsh treatment of the Muslims towards me extended to a considerable length of time; I walked until I climbed upon the wall of the garden of Abu Qatada; and he was my cousin; and I had the greatest love for him. I greeted him but; by Allah; he did not respond to my greetings. I said to him: Abu Qatada; I adjure you by Allah; arnt you well aware of the fact that I love Allah and His Messenger ﷺ the most. He kept quiet. I again repeated saying: I adjure you by Allah. arnt you well aware of the fact that I love Allah and His Messenger ﷺ the most. He kept quiet. I again adjured him; whereupon he said: Allah and the Messenger ﷺ are best aware of it. My eyes began to shed tears and I came back climbing down from the wall and as I was walking in the bazar of Medina a Nabatean from amongst the Nabateans of Syria; who had come to sell foodgrains in Medina; asked people to direct him to Kaab Bin Malik. People gave him the indication by pointing towards me. He came to me and delivered to me a letter of the King of Ghassan and as I was a scribe I read that letter and it was written like this: Coming to my point; it has been conveyed to us that your friend the Holy Prophet is subjecting you to cruelty and Allah has not created you for a place where you are to be degraded and where you cannot find your right place; so you come to us that we should accord you honour. As I read that letter I said: This is also a calamity; so I burnt it in the oven. When out of the fifty days; forty days had passed and Allah Messenger ﷺ received no revelation; there came the messenger of Allah Messenger ﷺ to me and said: Verily; Allah Messenger ﷺ has commanded you to remain separate from your wife. I said: Should I divorce her or what else should I do? He said: No; but only remain separate from her and dont have sexual contact with her. The same message was sent to my companions. So I said to my wife: You better go to your parents and stay there with them until Allah gives the decision in my case. The wife of Hilal Bin Umaya came to Allah Messenger ﷺ and said: Allah Messenger; Hilal Bin Umaya is a senile person; he has no servant. Do you disapprove of my serving him? He said: No; but dont go near him. She said: By Allah; he has no such instinct in him. By Allah; he spends his time in weeping from that day to this day. Some of the members of my family said to me: Were you to seek permission from Allah Messenger ﷺ in regard to your wife as he has granted permission to the wife of Hilal Bin Umaya to serve him. I said: I would not seek permission from Allah Messenger ﷺ ; for I cannot say what Allah Apostle may say in response to seeking my permission. Moreover; I am a young man. It was in this state that I spent ten more nights and thus fifty nights had passed that people had observed boycott with us. It was on the morning of the fiftieth night that I observed my dawn prayer and was sitting on one of the roofs of our houses. And I was in fact sitting in that very state which Allah; the Exalted and Glorious; has described about us in these words: Life had become hard for myself and the earth had compressed despite its vastness; that I heard the noise of an announcer from the peak of the hill of Sal saying at the top of his voice: Kaab Bin Malik; there is glad tidings for you. I fell down in prostration and came to realise that there was a message of relief for me. Allah Messenger ﷺ had informed the people of the acceptance of our repentance by Allah as he offered the dawn prayer. So the people went on to give us glad tidings and some of them went to my friends in order to give them the glad tidings and a person galloped his horse and came from the tribe of Aslam and his horse reached me more quickly than his voice. And when he came to me whose sound I heard; he gave me the glad tidings. I took off my clothes and clothed him with them because of his bringing good news to me and; by Allah; I possessed nothing else in the form of clothes than these two on that occasion; and I asked one to lend me two clothes and dressed myself in them. I came to Allah Messenger ﷺ and on my way I met groups of people who greeted me because of the acceptance of repentance and they said: Here is a greeting for you for your repentance being accepted by Allah. I moved on until I came to the Masjid and Allah Messenger ﷺ had been sitting there amongst persons. So Talha Bin Ubaidullah got up and rushed towards me and he shook hands with me and greeted me and; by Allah; no person stood up to greet me from amongst the emigrants except he. Kaab said that he never forgot this good gesture of Talha. Kaab further said: I greeted Allah Messenger ﷺ with Assalam-o-Alaikam and his face was glistening because of delight; and he said: Let there be glad tidings and blessings for you; the like of which you have neither found nor you will find; as you find today since your mother gave your birth. I said: Allah Messenger. is this acceptance of repentance from you or from Allah? He said: No; it is not from ma ; it is from Allah; and it was common with Allah Messenger ﷺ that as he was happy his face brightened up and it looked like a part of the moon and it was from this that we recognised it his delight. As I sat before him; I said: Allah Messenger; am I allowed to give in charity my wealth for Allah sake and for the sake of His Messenger ﷺ ? Thereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said: Keep some property with you as it is better for you. I said: I shall keep with me that part of my property which fell to my lot on the occasion of the expedition of Khaibar. I said: Allah Messenger; verily; Allah has granted me salvation because of truth and; therefore; I think that repentance implies that I should not speak anything but truth as long as I live. He said: By Allah; I do not know whether anyone amongst the Muslims was put to more severe trial than I by Allah because of telling the truth. And since I made a mention of this to Allah Messenger ﷺ up to this day I have not told any lie and; by Allah; I have decided not to tell a lie and I hope that Allah would save me from trials for the rest of my life and Allah; the Exalted and Glorious; revealed these verses: Certainly; Allah has turned in Mercy to the Prophet and the emigrants and the helpers who followed him in the hour of hardship after the hearts of a part of them were about to deviate; then He turned to them in mercy. Surely; to them He is Compassionate; Merciful and He turned in Mercy to the three who were left behind until the earth despite its vastness became strait for them and their souls were also straitened to them. And this revelation reached up to the words : O you who believe; develop God consciousness; and be with the truthful ix. 117-118. Kaab said: By Allah; since Allah directed me to Islam there has been no blessing more significant for me than this truth of mine which I spoke to Allah Messenger ﷺ and if I were to tell a lie I would have been ruined as were ruined those who told lies; for in regard to those who told lies Allah used harshest words used for anyone as He descended revelation and the words of Allah are : They will swear by Allah to you when you retu n to them so that you may leave them alone. So leave them alone. Surely; they are unclean and their resort is Hell; recompense for what they earned. They will swear to you that you may be pleased with them but if you are pleased with them; yet surely Allah is not pleased with the transgressing people ix. 95-96. Kaab said that the matter of us three persons was deferred as compared with those who took an oath in the presence of Allahs Messenger ﷺ and he accepted their allegiance and sought forgiveness for them and Allah did not give any decision in regard to us. It was Allah; the Exalted and Glorious; Who gave decisions in our case; three who remained behind. The words of the Quran the three who were left behind do not mean that we remained back from Jihad but these imply that He kept our matter behind them who took oath and presented excuse before Him. SahihMuslim-017-001-19418 | Abdullah Bin Masud reported that Allah Messenger ﷺ who is the most truthful of the human beings and his being truthful is a fact said: Verily your creation is on this wise. The constituents of one of you are collected for forty days in his mother womb in the form of blood; after which it becomes a clot of blood in another period of forty days. Then it becomes a lump of flesh and forty days later Allah sends His angel to it with instructions concerning four things; so the angel writes down his livelihood; his death; his deeds; his fortune and misfortune. By Him; besides Whom there is no god; that one amongst you acts like the people deserving Paradise until between him and Paradise there remains but the distance of a cubit; when suddenly the writing of destiny overcomes him and he begins to act like the denizens of Hell and thus enters Hell; and another one acts in the way of the denizens of Hell; until there remains between him and Hell a distance of a cubit that the writing of destiny overcomes him and then he begins to act like the people of Paradise and enters Paradise. | The Chapter on Angeles And Good Deeds And Day Of Hell Fire in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 1 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-20809 | Ibn Shihab transmitted on the authority of Ibn Mousayib that Abu Huraira said: People say that Abu Huraira transmits so many ahadith; whereas Allah is the Reckoner; and they say: How is it with Muhajirs and the Ansar that they do not narrate ahadith like him like Abu Huraira ? Abu Huraira said: I tell you that my brothers from Ansar remained busy with their lands and my brothers Muhajirs were busy in transactions in the bazars; but I always kept myself attached to Allah Messenger ﷺ with bare subsistence. I remained present in the company of the Holy Prophet ; whereas they had been absent. I retained in my mind what the Prophet said ; whereas they forgot it. One day Allah Messenger ﷺ said: He who amongst you spreads the cloth and listens to my talk and would then press it against his chest would never forget anything heard from me. So I spread my mantle and when he had concluded his talk I then pressed it against my chest and so I never forgot after that day anything that he the Holy Prophet said. And if these two verses would not have been revealed in the Book I would have never transmitted anything to anybody : Those who conceal the clear evidence and the guidance that We revealed ii. 159 tip to the last verse. | The Chapter on Alansar And Day Of Perishing in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 35 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-23356 | Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered the Masjid and a person also entered therein and offered prayer; and then came and paid salutation to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The Mes- senger of Allah ﷺ returned his salutation and said: Go back and pray; for you have not offered the prayer. He again prayed as he had prayed before; and came to the Messenger of Allah may peace be upon. him and saluted him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ returned the salutation and said: Go back and say prayer; for you have not offered the prayer. This act of repeating the prayer was done three times. Upon this the person said: By Him Who hast sent you with Truth; whatever better I can do than this; please teach me. He the Holy Prophet said: When you get up to pray; recite takbir; and then recite whatever you conveniently can from the Quran; then bow down and remain quietly in that position; then raise your- self and stand erect; then prostrate yourself and remain quietly in that attitude; then raise yourself and sit quietly; and do that throughout all your prayers. | The Chapter on Tashahhud And Salut in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 11 in Sahih Muslim

SunanAlTermithi-017-001-10033 | Narrated Abu Saeed AlKhudri: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited: And warn them of a Day of griefs and regrets 19:39 and he said: Death will be brought as if it is a mixed black and white ram; until it is halted upon the barrier between Paradise and the Fire. It will be said: O people of Paradise! They will raise up their necks to look. It will be said: O people of the Fire! And they will raise up their necks to look. It will be said: Do you recognize this? They will say: Yes. This is death. Then it will be laid down and slaughtered. SunanAlTermithi-017-001-10055 | Narrated Saeed Bin Jubair: I was asked about those who were involved in the case of Lian and if they are to be separated; during the leadership of mousab Bin AlZubair. I did not know what to say. So I went to the house of Abdullah Bin Umar and I sought permission to enter. I was told he was taking a nap; but he heard me taking and he said: Is it Ibn Jubair? Enter. You would not have come except for a need. He said: So I entered and found him laying on a saddlecloth from his mount. I said: O Abu Abdulrahman Are those involved in Lian separated? He said: Glorious is Allah! Yes. The first who asked about hat was so-and-so the son of so-and-so. He came to the Prophet ﷺ and said O Messenger of Allah! If one of us saw his wife committing adultery; what should he do? If he were to say anything; his statement would be a horrible matter; and if he were to remain silent; his silence about the matter would be horrible. He said: So the Prophet ﷺ remained silent and did not answer him. Afterwards he came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: The one who asked you about it has been tried by it. So Allah revealed these Ayat from Surat AlNur: And those who accuse their wives and have no witnesses except themselves; let the testimony of one of them be four testimonies by Allah 24:6-10 - until the end of those Ayat. He said: So he called for the man and recited the Ayat to him and admonished him; reminded him; and he told him: Indeed the punishment of the world is less than the punishment of the Hereafter. So he said: Nay! By the One Who sent you with the Truth! I did not lie about her. Then he ﷺ did the same with the woman; admonishing her and reminding her and he told her: Indeed the punishment of the world is less than the punishment of the Hereafter. She said: Nay! By the One Who sent you with the Truth! He is not telling the truth. He said: So he started with the man: He testified four times; by Allah that he is one of the truthful; and the fifth time that the curse of Allah be upon him if he was one of the liars. SunanAlTermithi-017-001-10290 | Abu Saeed AlKhudri said: One day; the Messenger of Allah s.a.w led us in Prayer AlAsr while it was still daytime. Then he stood to give us a Khutbah. He did not leave anything that would happen until the Hour of Judgement except that he informed us about it. Whoever remembered it remembered it; and whoever forgot it forgot it. Among what he said was: Indeed the world is green and sweet; and indeed Allah has left you to remain to see how you behave. So beware of the world; and beware of the women. And among what he said was: The awe status of people should not prevent a man from saying the truth when he knows it.He one of the narrators said: Abu Saeed wept; then he said: By Allah! We have seen things and we feared. And among what he said in it; was : Indeed; for every treacherous person there shall be a banner erected on The Day Of Resurrection in proportion to his treachery. And there is no treachery greater than the treachery of a leader to the masses whose banner shall be positioned at his buttocks. And among what we remember from that day is: Behold! Indeed the children of Adam were created in various classes. Among them is he who was born a believer; lives as a believer; and dies a believer. Among them; is he who was born a disbeliever; lives as a disbeliever; and dies a disbeliever. Among them; is he who was born a believer; lives as a believer; and dies a disbeliever. Among them; is he who was born a disbeliever; lives as a disbeliever; and dies a believer. Behold! Among them is the slow to get angry; the quick to calm. Among them is the quick anger and the quick to calm; so this is with that. Behold! Among them is the quick get angry and the slow to calm; and indeed the best of them is the slow to get angry and the quick to calm; and the worst of them is the quick get angry and the slow to calm. Behold! Among them is he who pays back well and collects well. Among them is he who is bad with paying back and good when collecting. Among them is he who pays back well and is bad with collecting; so this is with that. Behold! Among them is he who is bad with paying back and bad with collecting. Indeed the best of them is the one who is good in paying back and good in collecting. And the worst of them is the one who is bad with paying back and bad with collecting. Behold! Anger is an ember in the heart of the son of Adam; as you see it in the redness of his eyes and the bulge of his jugular veins. So whoever senses something from that; then let him cling to the ground. He said: So we began turning towards the sun to see if anything of it remained meaning whether it has set or not. When the morning came I went to my people and informed them about this matter. I said: Go along with me to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. They said: No; by Allah. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-25372 | Narrated Abu Ayash AlZuraqi: We accompanied the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at Usfan; and Khalid Ibn AlWalid was the chief of unbelievers. We offered the noon prayer. Thereupon; the unbelievers said: We suffered from negligence; we became careless. We should have attacked them while they were praying. Thereupon the verse was revealed; relating to the shortening of the prayer in time of danger between the noon and afternoon prayer. When the time of the afternoon prayer came; the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood facing the qiblah; and the unbelievers were standing in front of him. The people stood in a row behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and there was another row behind this row. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ bowed and all of them bowed. He then prostrated and also the row near him prostrated. The other people in the second row remained standing and stood guard over them. When they performed two prostrations and stood up; those who were behind them prostrated. The people in the front row near him then stepped backward taking the place of the people in the second row and the second row took the place of the first row. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then bowed and all of them bowed together. Then he and the row near him prostrated themselves. The other people in the second row remained standing and stood guard over them. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the row near him i.e. the front row were seated; the people in the second row behind them prostrated themselves. Then all of them were seated. He the Prophet then uttered the salutation upon all of them. He prayed in his manner at Usfan as well as at the territory of Banu Sulaym.Abu Dawud said: This tradition has been narrated by Ayoub and Hisham from Abu AlZubair on the authority of Jabir to the same effect from the Prophet ﷺ. Similarly; this has been transmitted by Dawud Bin Husain from Ikrimah; on the authority of Ibn Abbas. This has also been reported by Abd AlMalik; from Ata from Jabir in like manner. This has also been narrated by Qatadah from AlHasan from Hittan on the authority of Abu Mousa in a similar way. Similarly; this has been reported by Ikrimah Bin Khalid from Mujahid from the Prophet ﷺ. This has also been reported by Hisham Bin Urwah from his father from the Prophet ﷺ. He led those who were with him in one rakah and remained standing in his place and they completed the second rakah by themselves. Then they turned away and arrayed before the enemy. Thereafter the other section came and he led them in the rakah which remained from his prayer. He then remained sitting in his place and they completed their one rakah by themselves. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-25375 | Narrated Sahl Bin Abi Hathmah AlAnsari: The prayer time of danger should be offered in the following way: The imam should stand for prayer and a section of the people should stand along with him. The other section should stand facing the enemy. The imam should perform bowing and prostrate himself along with those who are with him. He then should stand after prostration and; when he stands straight; he should remain standing. They the people should in the meantime complete their remaining rakah i.e. the second one. They they should utter the salutation; and turn away while the imam should remain standing. They should go before the enemy. Thereafter those who did not pray should come forward and utter the takbir Allah is most great behind imam. He should bow and prostrate along with them and utter the salutation. Then they should stand and completed their remaining rakah; and utter the salutation.Abu Dawud said: The tradition reported by Yahya Bin Saeed from AlQasim is similar to the one transmitted by Yazid Bin Ruman except that he differed with him in salutation. He asked: What do you command me to do; Messenger of Allah? He replied: He who has camels should remain with his camels; he who has sheep should remain with his sheep; and he who has land should remain with his land. He then came to prophet ﷺ and saluted him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him: And upon you be peace. Go back and pray; for you have not prayed. He did so three times. Then the man said: By Him who has sent you as a Prophet with truth; I cannot do better than this; so teach me. He said: When you get up to pray; utter the takbir Allah is most great ; then recite a convenient portion of the Quran; then bow and remain quietly in that position; then sit and remain quietly in that position; then raise yourself and stand erect: then prostrate yourself and remain quietly in that position; then sit and remain quietly in that position; then do that throughout all your prayer.Abu Dawud said: AlQanabi reported this tradition from Said Bin Abi SaId on the authority of Abu Huraira. When Abu Mousa returned from his prayer or finished his prayer ; he gave his attention to the people; and said: Which of you is the speaker of such and such words? The people remained silent. Which of you is the speaker of such and such words? The people remained silent. He said: You might have said them; Hittan. He replied: I did not say them. I was afraid you might punish me. One of the people said: I said them and I did not intend by them anything except good. Abu Mousa said: Do you not know how you utter them in your prayer? The Messenger of Allah ﷺ addressed us; and taught us and explained to us our way of doing and taught us our prayer. He said: When you pray a congregational prayer; straighten your rows; then one of you should lead you in prayer. The angels come early in the morning; sit at the door of the Masjid; and record that so-and-so came at the first hour; and so-and-so came at the second hour until the imam comes out for preaching. When a man sits in a place where he can listen to the sermon and look at the imam ; where he remains silent and does not interrupt; he will receive a double reward. If he stays away; sits in a place where he cannot listen to the sermon ; silent; and does not interrupt; he will receive the reward only once. If he sits in a place where he can listen to the sermon and look at the imam ; and he does not remain silent; he will have the burden of it. If anyone says to his companion sitting besides him to be silent while the imam is preaching ; he is guilty of idle talk. Anyone who interrupts during the sermon will receive nothing no reward on that Friday. Then he the narrator says in the end of this tradition: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say so.Abu Dawud said: This tradition has been narrated by AlWalid Bin Muslim from Ibn Jabir. MuwataMalik-017-001-34291 | Yahya related to me from Malik from Yazid Ibn Ruman from Salih Ibn Khawat from someone who had prayed the prayer of fear with the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; on the day of Dhat AlRiqa that one group had formed a row with him and one group had formed a row opposite the enemy. He then prayed one raka with the group he was with; and then remained standing while they finished by themselves. They then left and formed a row opposite the enemy; and then the other group came and he prayed the remaining raka of his prayer with them; and then remained sitting while they finished by themselves. Then he said the taslim with them. | The Chapter on Bowing In Prayers And Mina And Alqiblah in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Prayer in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-34292 | Yahya related to me from Malik from Yahya Ibn Said from AlQasim Ibn Muhammad from Salih Ibn Khawat that Sahl Ibn Abi Hathma related to him that the form of the prayer of fear was that the imam stood with a group of his companions; while another group faced the enemy. The imam prayed one raka with them; including the prostration; and then stood. He remained standing while they completed the remaining raka by themselves. They then said the taslim; left; and formed up opposite the enemy while the imam remained standing. Then the others who had not prayed came forward and said the takbir behind the imam and he prayed one raka with them; including the prostration. He then said the taslim; while they stood up and prayed the remaining raka by themselves. Then they said the taslim. | The Chapter on Imam Led Prayers And Prostration in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Prayer in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-34442 | Yahya related to me from Malik from Ata AlKhurasani that he heard Said Ibn AlMusayab say; A traveller who has decided to remain somewhere for four nights does the prayer in full. Malik when asked about the prayer of a prisoner; said; It is the same as the prayer of a person who remains in one place; except if he is travelling. | The Chapter on Prayers And Ablution in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Tahajjud in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-34855 | Yahya related to me from Malik from Yahya Ibn Said from Sulayman Ibn Yasar that Zayd Ibn Thabit used to say; When the eye remains but the sight is lost; one hundred dinars are payable for it. Yahya said; Malik was asked about cutting off the lower lid of the eye and the bone around the eye. He said; There is only ijtihad in that unless the vision of the eye is impaired. He is entitled to an amount that is compatible to the extent the vision of the eye has been impaired. Yahya said that Malik said; What is done in our community about removing the bad eye of a one-eyed man when it has already been blinded and still remains there in its place and the paralyzed hand when it is cut off; is that there is only ijtihad in that; and there is no prescribed blood-money. | The Chapter on Supplications And Guidance in HodHood Indexing, The Book of General Subjects in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-34971 | Malik related to me that he had heard that Urwa Ibn AlZubair and Sulayman Ibn Yasar said; The mukatab is a slave as long as any of his kitaba remains to be paid. Malik said; This is my opinion as well. Malik said; If a mukatab dies and leaves more property than what remains to be paid of his kitaba and he has children who were born during the time of his kitaba or whose kitaba has been written as well; they inherit any property that remains after the kitaba has been paid. | The Chapter on Slave As A Property in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Good Character in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-34972 | Malik related to me from Humayd Ibn Qays AlMakki that a son of AlMutawakkil had a mukatab who died at Makka and left enough to pay the rest of his kitaba and he owed some debts to people. He also left a daughter. The governor of Makka was not certain about how to judge in the case; so he wrote to Abd AlMalik Ibn Marwan to ask him about it. Abd AlMalik wrote to him; Begin with the debts owed to people; and then pay what remains of his kitaba. Then divide what remains of the property between the daughter and the master. Malik said; What is done among us is that the master of a slave does not have to give his slave a kitaba if he asks for it. I have not heard of any of the Imams forcing a man to give a kitaba to his slave. I heard that one of the people of knowledge; when someone asked about that and mentioned that Allah the Blessed; the Exalted; said; Give them their kitaba; if you know some good in them Surat 24 ayat 33 recited these two ayats; When you are free of the state of ihram; then hunt for game. Surat 5 ayat 3 When the prayer is finished; scatter in the land and seek Allah favour. Surat 62 ayat 10 Malik commented; It is a way of doing things for which Allah; the Mighty; the Majestic; has given permission to people; and it is not obligatory for them. Malik said; I heard one of the people of knowledge say about the word of Allah; the Blessed; the Exalted; Give them of the wealth which Allah has given you; that it meant that a man give his slave a kitaba and then reduce the end of his kitaba for him by some specific amount. Malik said; This is what I have heard from the people of knowledge and what I see people doing here. Malik said; I have heard that Abdullah Ibn Umar gave one of his slaves his kitaba for 35;000 dirhams; and then reduced the end of his kitaba by 5;000 dirhams. Malik said; What is done among us is that when a master gives a mukatab his kitaba; the mukatab property goes with him but his children do not go with him unless he stipulates that in his kitaba. Yahya said; I heard Malik say that if a mukatab whose master had given him a kitaba had a slave- girl who was pregnant by him; and neither he nor his master knew that on the day he was given his kitaba; the child did not follow him because he was not included in the kitaba. He belonged to the master. As for the slave-girl; she belonged to the mukatab because she was his property. Malik said that if a man and his wife son by another husband inherited a mukatab from the wife and the mukatab died before he had completed his kitaba; they divided his inheritance between them according to the Book of Allah. If the slave paid his kitaba and then died; his inheritance went to the son of the woman; and the husband had nothing of his inheritance. Malik said that if a mukatab gave his own slave a kitaba; the situation was looked at. If he wanted to do his slave a favour and it was obvious by his making it easy for him; that was not permitted. If he was giving him a kitaba from desire to find money to pay off his own kitaba; that was permitted for him. Malik said that if a man had intercourse with a mukataba of his and she became pregnant by him; she had an option. If she liked she could be an umm walad. If she wished; she could confirm her kitaba. If she did not conceive; she still had her kitaba. Malik said; The generally agreed on way of doing things among us about a slave who is owned by two men is that one of them does not give a kitaba for his share; whether or not his companion gives him permission to do so; unless they both write the kitaba together; because that alone would effect setting him free. If the slave were to fulfil what he had agreed on to free half of himself; and then the one who had given a kitaba for half of him was not obliged to complete his setting free; that would be in opposition to the words of the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace. If someone frees his share in a slave and has enough money to cover the full price of the slave; justly evaluated for him; he must give his partners their shares; so the slave is completely free. Malik said; If he is not aware of that until the mukatab has met the terms or before he has met them the owner who has written him the kitaba returns what he has taken from the mukatab to him; and then he and his partner divide him according to their original shares and the kitaba is invalid. He is the slave of both of them in his original state. Malik spoke about a mukatab who was owned by two men and one of them granted him a delay in the payment of the right which he was owed; and the other refused to defer it; and so the one who refused to defer the payment exacted his part of the due. Malik said that if the mukatab then died and left property which did not complete his kitaba; They divide it according to what they are still owed by him. Each of them takes according to his share. If the mukatab leaves more than his kitaba; each of them takes what remains to them of the kitaba; and what remains after that is divided equally between them. If the mukatab is unable to pay his kitaba fully and the one who did not allow him to defer his payment has exacted more than his associate did; the slave is still divided equally between them; and he does not return to his associates the excess of what he has exacted; because he only exacted his right with the permission of his associate. If one of them remits what is owed to him and then his associate exacts part of what he is owed by him and then the mukatab is unable to pay; he belongs to both of them. And the one who has exacted something does not return anything because he only demanded what he was owed. That is like the debt of two men in one writing against one man. One of them grants him time to pay and the other is greedy and exacts his due. Then the debtor goes bankrupt. The one who exacted his due does not have to return any of what he took. | The Chapter on Slave As A Property in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Good Character in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-34973 | Malik said; The generally agreed on way of doing things among us is that when slaves write their kitaba together in one kitaba; and some are responsible for others; and they are not reduced anything by the death of one of the responsible ones; and then one of them says; I cant do it; and gives up; his companions can use him in whatever work he can do and they help each other with that in their kitaba until they are freed; if they are freed; or remain slaves if they remain slaves. Malik said; The generally agreed on way of doing things among us is that when a master gives a slave his kitaba; it is not permitted for the master to let anyone assume the responsibility for the kitaba of his slave if the slave dies or is incapable. This is not part of the sunna of the muslims. That is because when a man assumes responsibility to the master of a mukatab for what the mukatab owes of his kitaba; and then the master of the mukatab pursues that from the one who assumes the responsibility; he takes his money falsely. It is not as if he is buying the mukatab; so that what he gives is part of the price of something that is his; and neither is the mukatab being freed so that the price established for him buys his inviolability as a free man. If the mukatab is unable to meet the payments he reverts to his master and is his slave. That is because kitaba is not a fixed debt which can be assumed by the master of the mukatab. It is something which; when it is paid by the mukatab; sets him free. If the mukatab dies and has a debt; his master is not one of the creditors for what remains unpaid of the kitaba. The creditors have precedence over the master. If the mukatab cannot meet the payments; and he owes debts to people; he reverts to being a slave owned by his master and the debts to the people are the liability of the mukatab. The creditors do not enter with the master into any share of the price of his person. Malik said; When people are written together in one kitaba and there is no kinship between them by which they inherit from each other; and some of them are responsible for others; then none of them are freed before the others until all the kitaba has been paid. If one of them dies and leaves property and it is more than all of what is against them; it pays all that is against them. The excess of the property goes to the master; and none of those who have been written in the kitaba with the deceased have any of the excess. The master claims are overshadowed by their claims for the portions which remain against them of the kitaba which can be fulfilled from the property of the deceased; because the deceased had assumed their responsibility and they must use his property to pay for their freedom. If the deceased mukatab has a free child not born in kitaba and who was not written in the kitaba; it does not inherit from him because the mukatab was not freed until he died. | The Chapter on Slave As A Property in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Good Character in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-34975 | Malik said; The best of what I have heard about a mukatab who injures a man so that blood-money must be paid; is that if the mukatab can pay the blood-money for the injury with his kitaba; he does so; and it is against his kitaba. If he cannot do that; and he cannot pay his kitaba because he must pay the blood-money of that injury before the kitaba; and he cannot pay the blood-money of that injury; then his master has an option. If he prefers to pay the blood-money of that injury; he does so and keeps his slave and he becomes an owned slave. If he wishes to surrender the slave to the injured; he surrenders him. The master does not have to do more than surrender his slave. Malik spoke about people who were in a general kitaba and one of them caused an injury which entailed blood-money. He said; If any of them does an injury involving blood-money; he and those who are with him in the kitaba are asked to pay all the blood-money of that injury. If they pay; they are confirmed in their kitaba. If they do not pay; and they are incapable then their master has an option. If he wishes; he can pay all the blood-money of that injury and all the slaves revert to him. If he wishes; he can surrender the one who did the injury alone and all the others revert to being his slaves since they could not pay the blood-money of the injury which their companion caused. Malik said; The way of doing things about which there is no dispute among us; is that when a mukatab is injured in some way which entails blood-money or one of the mukatab children who is written with him in the kitaba is injured; their blood-money is the blood-money of slaves of their value; and what is appointed to them as their blood-money is paid to the master who has the kitaba and he reckons that for the mukatab at the end of his kitaba and there is a reduction for the blood-money that the master has taken for the injury. Malik said; The explanation of that is say; for example; he has written his kitaba for three thousand dirhams and the blood-money taken by the master for his injury is one thousand dirhams. When the mukatab has paid his master two thousand dirhams he is free. If what remains of his kitaba is one thousand dirhams and the blood-money for his injury is one thousand dirhams; he is free straightaway. If the blood-money of the injury is more than what remains of the kitaba; the master of the mukatab takes what remains of his kitaba and frees him. What remains after the payment of the kitaba belongs to the mukatab. One must not pay the mukatab any of the blood- money of his injury in case he might consume it and use it up. If he could not pay his kitaba completely he would then return to his master one eyed; with a hand cut off; or crippled in body. His master only wrote his kitaba against his property and earnings; and he did not write his kitaba so that he would take the blood-money for what happened to his child or to himself and use it up and consume it. One pays the blood-money of injuries to a mukatab and his children who are born in his kitaba; or their kitaba is written; to the master and he takes it into account for him at the end of his kitaba. | The Chapter on Injury In Crimes And Felonies in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Good Character in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-34982 | Malik said; If people are together in one kitaba; their master cannot free one of them without consulting his companions who are with him in the kitaba and obtaining their consent. If they are young; however; their consultation means nothing and it is not permitted to them. That is because a man might work for all the people and he might pay their kitaba for them to complete their freedom. Their master approaches the one who will pay for them and their rescue from slavery is through him. He frees him and so makes those who remain unable to pay. He does it intending benefit and increase for himself. It is not permitted for him to do that to those of them who remain. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; There must be no harm nor return of harm. This is the most severe harm. Malik said about slaves who wrote a kitaba together that it was permitted for their master to free the old and exhausted of them and the young when neither of them could pay anything; and there was no help nor strength to be had from any of them in their kitaba. | The Chapter on Slave As A Property in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Good Character in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-34983 | Malik said about a man who had his slave in a kitaba and then the mukatab died and left his umm walad; and there remained for him some of his kitaba to pay and he left what would pay it; The umm walad is a slave since the mukatab was not freed until he died and he did not leave children that were set free by his paying what remained; so that the umm walad of their father was freed by their being set free. Malik said about a mukatab who set free a slave of his or gave sadaqa with some of his property and his master did not know that until he had set the mukatab free; That has been performed by him and the master does not rescind it. If the master of the mukatab knows before he sets the mukatab free; he can reject that and not permit it. If the mukatab is then freed and it becomes in his power to do so; he does not have to free the slave; nor give the sadaqa unless he does it voluntarily from himself. | The Chapter on Slave As A Property in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Good Character in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35169 | Yahya related to me from Malik that he had heard the people of knowledge say that when a man hit game and something else might have contributed to death; like water or an untrained dog; that game was not to be eaten unless it was beyond doubt that it was the arrow of the hunter that had killed it by reaching a vital organ; so that it did not have any life after that. Yahya said that he heard Malik say that there was no harm in eating game when you did not see it die if you found the mark of your dog on it or your arrow in it as long as it had not remained overnight. If it had remained overnight; then it was disapproved of to eat it. | The Chapter on Games And Hunting And Hitting Game With Sharp Iron in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Hudud in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35201 | Yahya related to me from Malik from Yahya Ibn Said that Said Ibn AlMusayab said; If a man gives his wife authority over herself; and she does not separate from him and remains with him; there is no divorce. Malik said that a woman whose husband gave her power over herself and they separated while she was unwilling; had no power to revoke the divorce. She only had power over herself as long as they remained together. | The Chapter on Worship And Wealth in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Marriage in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35594 | Yahya related to me from Malik that he had heard that Umar Ibn Abd AlAziz wrote to his governors telling them to relieve any people who payed the jizya from paying the jizya if they became muslims. Malik said; The sunna is that there is no jizya due from women or children of people of the Book; and that jizya is only taken from men who have reached puberty. The people of dhimma and the magians do not have to pay any zakat on their palms or their vines or their crops or their livestock. This is because zakat is imposed on the muslims to purify them and to be given back to their poor; whereas jizya is imposed on the people of the Book to humble them. As long as they are in the country they have agreed to live in; they do not have to pay anything on their property except the jizya. If; however; they trade in muslim countries; coming and going in them; a tenth is taken from what they invest in such trade. This is because jizya is only imposed on them on conditions; which they have agreed on; namely that they will remain in their own countries; and that war will be waged for them on any enemy of theirs; and that if they then leave that land to go anywhere else to do business they will haveto pay a tenth. Whoever among them does business with the people of Egypt; and then goes to Syria; and then does business with the people of Syria and then goes to Iraq and does business with them and then goes on to Madina; or Yemen; or other similar places; has to pay a tenth. People of the Book and magians do not have to pay any zakat on any of their property; livestock; produce or crops. The sunna still continues like that. They remain in the deen they were in; and they continue to do what they used to do. If in any one year they frequently come and go in muslim countries then they have to pay a tenth every time they do so; since that is outside what they have agreed upon; and not one of the conditions stipulated for them. This is what I have seen the people of knowledge of our city doing. | The Chapter on Contracts And Disputes And Zakat in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Hajj in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-36064 | Yahya related to me from Malik from Daud Ibn AlHusayn that Abu Sufyan; the mawla of Ibn Abi Ahmad; said that he heard Abu Huraira say; The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; prayed asr and said the taslim after two rakas. Dhu AlYadain stood up and said; Has the prayer been shortened; Messenger of Allah; or have you forgotten? The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; stood up and completed what remained of the prayer; and then; remaining sitting after saying the taslim; he made two prostrations. | The Chapter on Forgetfulness In Prayers And Prostration in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Zakat in Muwata Malik |
