So we sat with him and my father started talking to him saying; O Abu Barza! Dont you see in what dilemma the people has fallen? The first thing heard him saying I seek reward from Allah for myself because of being angry and scornful at the Quraish tribe. O you Arabs! You know very well that you were in misery and were few in number and misguided; and that Allah has brought you out of all that with Islam and with Muhammad till He brought you to this state of prosperity and happiness which you see now; and it is this worldly wealth and pleasures which has caused mischief to appear among you. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1688Narrated Saad Bin Abi Waqqas: I was stricken by an ailment that led me to the verge of death. The Prophet ﷺ came to pay me a visit. I said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! I have much property and no heir except my single daughter. Shall I give two-thirds of my property in charity? He said; No. I said; Half of it? He said; No. I said; Onethird of it? SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3989Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet ﷺ said; A horse may be kept for one of three purposes: for a man it may be a source of reward; for another it may be a means of living; and for a third it may be a burden a source of committing sins. As for the one for whom it is a source of reward; he is the one who keeps his horse for the sake of Jihad in Allah Cause; he ties it with a long rope on a pasture or in a garden. So whatever its rope allows it to eat; will be regarded as good rewardable deeds for its owner. And if it breaks off its rope and jumps over one or two hillocks; even its dung will be considered amongst his good deeds. And if it passes by a river and drinks water from it; that will be considered as good deeds for his benefit even if he has had no intention of watering it. A horse is a shelter for the one who keeps it so that he may earn his living honestly and takes it as a refuge to keep him from following illegal ways of gaining money ; and does not forget the rights of Allah i.e. paying the Zakat and allowing others to use it for Allah Sake. But a horse is a burden and a source of committing sins for him who keeps it out of pride and pretense and with the intention of harming the Muslims. The Prophet ﷺ was asked about donkeys. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-5014Narrated Abdullah Bin Umar: I heard Allah Messenger ﷺ saying; Three men from among those who were before you; set out together till they reached a cave at night and entered it. A big rock rolled down the mountain and closed the mouth of the cave. They said to each other ; Nothing could save you from this rock but to invoke Allah by giving reference to the righteous deed which you have done for Allah sake only. So; one of them said; O Allah! I had old parents and I never provided my family wife; children etc. with milk before them. One day; by chance I was delayed; and I came late at night while they had slept. I milked the sheep for them and took the milk to them; but I found them sleeping. I disliked to provide my family with the milk before them. I waited for them and the bowl of milk was in my hand and I kept on waiting for them to get up till the day dawned. Then they got up and drank the milk. O Allah! If I did that for Your Sake only; please relieve us from our critical situation caused by this rock. So; the rock shifted a little but they could not get out. The Prophet ﷺ added; The second man said; O Allah! I had a cousin who was the dearest of all people to me and I wanted to have sexual relations with her but she refused. Later she had a hard time in a famine year and she came to me and I gave her one-hundred-and-twenty Dinars on the condition that she would not resist my desire; and she agreed. When I was about to fulfill my desire; she said: It is illegal for you to outrage my chastity except by legitimate marriage. So; I thought it a sin to have sexual intercourse with her and left her though she was the dearest of all the people to me; and also I left the gold I had given her. O Allah! If I did that for Your Sake only; please relieve us from the present calamity. So; the rock shifted a little more but still they could not get out from there. The Prophet ﷺ added; Then the third man said; O Allah! I employed few laborers and I paid them their wages with the exception of one man who did not take his wages and went away. I invested his wages and I got much property thereby. Then after some time he came and said to me: O Allah slave! Pay me my wages. I said to him: All the camels; cows; sheep and slaves you see; are yours. He said: O Allah slave! Dont mock at me. I said: I am not mocking at you. So; he took all the herd and drove them away and left nothing. O Allah! If I did that for Your Sake only; please relieve us from the present suffering. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-5072Narrated Abdullah Bin Umar: The Prophet ﷺ said; While three men were walking; It started raining and they took shelter refuge in a cave in a mountain. A big rock rolled down from the mountain and closed the mouth of the cave. They said to each other; Think of good deeds which you did for Allah sake only; and invoke Allah by giving reference to those deeds so that He may remove this rock from you. One of them said; O Allah! I had old parents and small children and I used to graze the sheep for them. On my return to them in the evening; I used to milk the sheep and start providing my parents first of all before my children. One day I was delayed and came late at night and found my parents sleeping. I milked the sheep as usual and stood by their heads. I hated to wake them up and disliked to give milk to my children before them; although my children were weeping because of hunger at my feet till the day dawned. O Allah! If I did this for Your sake only; kindly remove the rock so that we could see the sky through it. So; Allah removed the rock a little and they saw the sky. The second man said; O Allah! I was in love with a cousin of mine like the deepest love a man may have for a woman. I wanted to outrage her chastity but she refused unless I gave her one hundred Dinars. So; I struggled to collect that amount. And when I sat between her legs; she said; O Allah slave! Be afraid of Allah and do not deflower me except rightfully by marriage. So; I got up. O Allah! If I did it for Your sake only; please remove the rock. The rock shifted a little more. Then the third man said; O Allah! I employed a laborer for a Faraq of rice and when he finished his job and demanded his right; I presented it to him; but he refused to take it. So; I sowed the rice many time till I gathered cows and their shepherd from the yield. Then after some time He came and said to me; Fear Allah and give me my right. I said; Go and take those cows and the shepherd. He said; Be afraid of Allah! Dont mock at me. I said; I am not mocking at you. Take all that. So; he took all that. O Allah! If I did that for Your sake only; please remove the rest of the rock. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-5484Narrated Ibn Umar: The Prophet ﷺ said; While three persons were walking; rain began to fall and they had to enter a cave in a mountain. A big rock rolled over and blocked the mouth of the cave. They said to each other; Invoke Allah with the best deed you have performed so Allah might remove the rock. One of them said; O Allah! My parents were old and I used to go out for grazing my animals. On my return I would milk the animals and take the milk in a vessel to my parents to drink. After they had drunk from it; I would give it to my children; family and wife. One day I was delayed and on my return I found my parents sleeping; and I disliked to wake them up. The children were crying at my feet because of hunger. That state of affairs continued till it was dawn. O Allah! If You regard that I did it for Your sake; then please remove this rock so that we may see the sky. So; the rock was moved a bit. The second said; O Allah! You know that I was in love with a cousin of mine; like the deepest love a man may have for a woman; and she told me that I would not get my desire fulfilled unless I paid her one-hundred Dinars gold pieces. So; I struggled for it till I gathered the desired amount; and when I sat in between her legs; she told me to be afraid of Allah; and asked me not to deflower her except rightfully by marriage. So; I got up and left her. O Allah! If You regard that I did if for Your sake; kindly remove this rock. So; two-thirds of the rock was removed. Then the third man said; O Allah! No doubt You know that once I employed a worker for one Faraq three Sas of millet; and when I wanted to pay him; he refused to take it; so I sowed it and from its yield I bought cows and a shepherd. After a time that man came and demanded his money. I said to him: Go to those cows and the shepherd and take them for they are for you. He asked me whether I was joking with him. I told him that I was not joking with him; and all that belonged to him. O Allah! If You regard that I did it sincerely for Your sake; then please remove the rock. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6735Narrated Sad: The Prophet ﷺ visited me during Hajjat AlWada while I was suffering from a disease which brought me to the verge of death. I said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! My ailment has reached such a bad state as you see; and I have much wealth; but I have no-one to inherit from me except my only daughter. Shall I give 2/3 of my property as alms in charity ? The Prophet ﷺ said; No; I said; Shall I give half of my property as alms? He said; No. I said; Shall I give 1/3 of it? He replied; 1/3; and even 1/3 is too much. It is better for you to leave your inheritors wealthy rather than to leave them poor; begging people for their sustenance ; and whatever you spend for Allah Sake; you will get reward for it even for the morsel of food which you put in your wives mouth. I said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Should I remain in Mecca behind my companions who are going with you to Medina ? The Prophet ﷺ said; If you remain behind; any good deed which you will do for Allah Sake; will upgrade and elevate you. May be you will live longer so that some people may benefit by you and some other i.e. infidels may get harmed by you. The Prophet ﷺ then added; O Allah! Complete the Migration of my companions and do not turn them on their heels. But the poor Saad Bin Khaula not the above mentioned Sad died in Mecca. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-914Narrated Itban Bin Malik: who was one of the companions of Allah Messenger ﷺ and one of the Ansar who took part in the battle of Badr: I came to Allah Messenger ﷺ and said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ I have weak eyesight and I lead my people in prayers. When it rains the water flows in the valley between me and my people so I cannot go to their Masjid to lead them in prayer. O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! I wish you would come to my house and pray in it so that I could take that place as a Mousalla. Allah Messenger ﷺ said. Allah willing; I will do so. Next day after the sun rose high; Allah Messenger ﷺ and Abu Bakr came and Allah Messenger ﷺ asked for permission to enter. I gave him permission and he did not sit on entering the house but said to me; Where do you like me to pray? I pointed to a place in my house. So Allah Messenger ﷺ stood there and said; Allahu Akbar; and we all got up and aligned behind him and offered a two-rakat prayer and ended it with Taslim. We requested him to stay for a meal called Khazira which we had prepared for him. Many members of our family gathered in the house and one of them said; Where is Malik Bin AlDukhaishin or Ibn AlDukhshun? One of them replied; He is a hypocrite and does not love Allah and His Apostle. Hearing that; Allah Messenger ﷺ said; Do not say so. Havent you seen that he said; None has the right to be worshipped but Allah for Allah sake only? He said; Allah and His Apostle know better. We have seen him helping and advising hypocrites. SunanAlNasai-017-001-16262It was narrated from Jabir Bin Abdullah Bin Atik that Atik Bin AlHarith who was the grandfather of Abdullah Bin Abdullah; his mother fathr told him that the Jabir Bin Atik told him that: the Prophet came to visit Abdullah Bin Thabit when he was sick and found him very close to death. He called out to him and he did not respond; so the Messenger of Allah said: Truly; to Allah we belong and truly; to Him we shall return; and said: We wanted you to live but we were overtaken by the decree of Allah; O Abu AlRabi. The women screamed and wept; and Ibn Atik started telling them to quiet. The Messenger of Allah said: Leave them; when the inevitable comes; no one should weep. They said: What is the inevitable; O Messenger of Allah? He said: Death. His daughter said: I had hoped that you would become a martyr; for you had prepared yourself for it. The Messenger of Allah said: Allah; the Mighty and Sublime; has rewarded him according to his intention. What do you think martyrdom is? They said: Being killed for the sake of Allah. The Messenger of Allah said: Martyrdom is of seven types besides being killed for the sake of Allah. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-27412Abu Huraira reported: When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ returned from the Battle of Khaibar; he travelled during the night. When we felt sleep; he halted for rest. Addressing Bilal he said: Keep vigilance at night for us. But Bilal who was leaning against the saddle of his mount was dominated by sleep. Neither the Prophet ﷺ nor Bilal nor any of his Companions could get up till the sunshine struck them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ got up first of all. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was embarrassed and said: O Bilal ! He replied: He who detained your soul; detained my soul; Messenger of Allah; my parents be sacrificed for you. Then they drove their mounts to a little distance. The Prophet ﷺ perfumed ablution and commanded Bilal who made announcement for the prayer. He the Prophet led them in the Fajr prayer. When he finished prayer; he said: If anyone forget saying prayer; he should observe it when he recalls it; for Allah has said in the Quran : Establish prayer for my remembrance. Yunus said: Ibn Shihab used to recite this verse in a similar way i.e. instead of reciting the word li-dhikri - for the sake of My remembrance - he would recite li-dhikra - when you remember. MuwataMalik-017-001-35818Yahya related to me from Malik; from Hisham Ibn Urwa; from his father; that Aisha; umm Almuminin; said to him; Son of my sister; it is only for ten nights; so if you get an urge to do something; leave it; by which she meant eating game-meat. Malik said that if game was hunted forthe sake of a man who is in ihram and it was prepared for him and he ate some of it knowing that it had been hunted for his sake; then he had to pay a forfeit for all of the game that had been hunted on his behalf. Malik was asked about whether someone who was forced to eat carrion while he was in ihram should hunt game and then eat that rather than the carrion; and he said; It is better for him to eat the carrion; because Allah; the Blessed and Exalted; has not given permission for someone in ihram to either eat game or take it in any situation; but He has made allowances for eating carrion when absolutely necessary. Malik said; It is not halal for anyone; whether in ihram or not; to eat game which has been killed or sacrificed by some one in ihram; because; whether it was killed deliberately or by mistake; it was not done in a halal manner; and so eating it is not halal. I have heard this from more than one person.
