SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2745 | Narrated Abu Bakra: The Prophet ﷺ said; Time has come back to its original state which it had on the day Allah created the Heavens and the Earth. The year is twelve months; four of which are sacred; three of them are in succession; namely Dh AlQada; Dhu AlHijja and Muharram; the fourth being Rajab Mudar which is between Jumada ath-thamj and Shaban. The Prophet ﷺ then asked; Which month is this? We said; Allah and his Apostle know better. He kept silent so long that we thought that he would call it by a name other than its real name. He said; Isnt it the month of Dhu AlHijja? We said; Yes. He said; Which town is this? We said; Allah and His Apostle know better. He kept silent so long that we thought that he would call it t;y a name other than its real name. He said; isnt it the town of Mecca ? We replied; Yes. He said; What day is today? We replied; Allah and His Apostle know better. He kept silent so long that we thought that he would call it by a name other than its real name. He said; Isnt it the Day Of AlNahr? We replied; Yes. He then said; Your blood; properties and honor are as sacred to one another as this day of yours in this town of yours in this month of yours. You will meet your Lord; and He will ask you about your deeds. Beware! Do not go astray after me by cutting the necks of each other. It is incumbent upon those who are present to convey this message to those who are absent; for some of those to whom it is conveyed may comprehend it better than some of those who have heard it directly. Muhammad; the sub-narrator; on mentioning this used to say: The Prophet then said; No doubt! Havent I delivered Allahs Message to you ? SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3398 | Narrated Marwan Bin AlHakam: Uthman Bin Affan was afflicted with severe nose-bleeding in the year when such illness was prevelant and that prevented him from performing Hajj; and because of it he made his will. A man from Quraish came to him and said; Appoint your successor. Uthman asked; Did the people name him? i.e. the successor the man said; Yes. Uthman asked; Who is that? The man remained silent. Another man came to Uthman and I think it was AlHarith. He also said; Appoint your successor. Uthman asked; Did the people name him? The man replied Yes. Uthman said; Who is that? The man remained silent. Uthman said; Perhaps they have mentioned AlZubair? The man said; Yes. Uthman said; By Him in Whose Hands my life is; he is the best of them as I know; and the dearest of them to Allah Messenger ﷺ. | The Chapter on Assignments And Appointments By The Governor in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The merits of AlZubair Bin AlAwam in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3468 | Narrated Abu Huraira: I said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! I am a young man and I am afraid that I may commit illegal sexual intercourse and I cannot afford to marry. He kept silent; and then repeated my question once again; but he kept silent. I said the same for the third time and he remained silent. Then repeated my question for the fourth time ; and only then the Prophet said; O Abu Huraira! The pen has dried after writing what you are going to confront. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-4515 | Narrated Abu Saeed AlKhudri: Allah Messenger ﷺ ascended the pulpit and said; Nothing worries me as to what will happen to you after me; except the temptation of worldly blessings which will be conferred on you. Then he mentioned the worldly pleasures. He started with the one i.e. the blessings and took up the other i.e. the pleasures. A man got up saying; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Can the good bring about evil? The Prophet ﷺ remained silent and we thought that he was being inspired divinely; so all the people kept silent with awe. Then the Prophet ﷺ wiped the sweat off his face and asked; Where is the present questioner? Do you think wealth is good? he repeated thrice; adding; No doubt; good produces nothing but good. Indeed it is like what grows on the banks of a stream which either kills or nearly kills the grazing animals because of gluttony except the vegetation-eating animal which eats till both its flanks are full i.e. till it gets satisfied and then stands in the sun and defecates and urinates and again starts grazing. This worldly property is sweet vegetation. How excellent the wealth of the Muslim is; if it is collected through legal means and is spent in Allah Cause and on orphans; poor people and travelers. But he who does not take it legally is like an eater who is never satisfied and his wealth will be a witness against him on the Day of Resurrection. | The Chapter on Wealth And Satisfaction in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The Superiority of spending in Allah Cause in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-5870 | Narrated Abu Bakra: The Prophet ﷺ delivered to us a sermon on the Day Of AlNahr. He said; Do you know what is the day today? We said; Allah and His Apostle know better. He remained silent till we thought that he might give that day another name. He said; Isnt it the Day Of AlNahr? We said; It is. He further asked; Which month is this? We said; Allah and His Apostle know better. He remained silent till we thought that he might give it another name. He then said; Isnt it the month of Dhu AlHijja? We replied: Yes! It is. He further asked; What town is this? We replied; Allah and His Apostle know it better. He remained silent till we thought that he might give it another name. He then said; Isnt it the forbidden Sacred town of Mecca ? We said; Yes. It is. He said; No doubt; your blood and your properties are sacred to one another like the sanctity of this day of yours; in this month of yours; in this town of yours; till the day you meet your Lord. No doubt! Havent I conveyed Allah message to you? They said; Yes. He said; O Allah! Be witness. So it is incumbent upon those who are present to convey it this information to those who are absent because the informed one might comprehend it what I have said better than the present audience; who will convey it to him. Beware! Do not renegade as disbelievers after me by striking the necks cutting the throats of one another. | The Chapter on Communication The Prophet Asking The Companions in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on AlKhutba during the Days of Mina in Sahih AlBukhari |

SahihMuslim-017-001-17336 | Abu Bakra reported that in the Farewell Address Allah Apostle ﷺ said: Time has completed a cycle and come to the state of the day when Allah created the heavens and the earth. The year is constituted of twelve months; of which four are sacred; three of them consecutive; viz. Dh AlQada; Dhu AlHijja and Muharram; and also Rajab the month of Mudar which comes between Jumada and Shaban. He the Holy Prophet then said: which month is this? We said Allah and His Messenger know best. He the narrator said: He the Holy Prophet remained silent for some time until we thought that he would give it a name other than that by which it was known. He said: Is it not Dhal-Hijja? We said: Yes. He the Holy Prophet said: Which city is this? We said: Allah and His Messenger know best. He the Holy Prophety remained silent until we thought that he would give it another name. He the Holy Prophet said: Is it not the Balda the city of Mecca ? We said: Yes. He said: What day is this? We said: Allah and His Messenger know best. He the Holy Prophet remained silent until we thought that he would give it another name. He said: Is it not the Day of Sacrifice? We said: Allah Messenger. yes. Thereupon he said: Your blood; your property Muhammad; one of the narrators; said: I think; he also said this and your honour are sacred to you like the sacredness of this day of yours; in this city of yours; and in this month of yours. You will soon meet your Lord and He will ask you about your deeds. So do not turn after me unbelievers or misguided ; some of you striking the necks of the others. Behold I let him who is present convey to him who is absent; for many a one whom a message is conveyed has a more retentive memory than one who hears. SahihMuslim-017-001-19372 | Abu Umama reported: We were sitting in the Masjid in the company of Allah Messenger ﷺ. A person came there and said: Allah Messenger; I have committed an offence which deserves the imposition of hadd upon me; so impose it upon me. Allah Messenger ﷺ kept silent. He repeated it and said: Allah Messenger; I have committed an offence which deserves the imposition of hadd upon me; so impose it upon me. He the Holy Prophet kept silent; and it was at this time that Iqama was pronounced for prayer and the prayer was observed. And when Allah Apostle ﷺ had concluded the payer that person followed Allah Messenger ﷺ. Abu Umama said: I too followed Allah Messenger ﷺ after he had concluded the prayer; so that I should know what answer he would give to that person. That person remained attached to Allah Messenger ﷺ and said: Allah Messenger; I have committed an offence which deserves imposition of hadd upon me; so impose it upon me. Abu Umama reported that Allah Messenger ﷺ said to him: Didnt you see that as you got out of the house; you performed ablution perfectly well. He said: Allah Messenger; of course. I did it. He again said to him: Then you observed prayer along with us. He said: Allah Messenger; yes; it is so. I did not know what to say. So I went to the house of Abdullah Bin Umar and I sought permission to enter. I was told he was taking a nap; but he heard me taking and he said: Is it Ibn Jubair? Enter. You would not have come except for a need. He said: So I entered and found him laying on a saddlecloth from his mount. I said: O Abu Abdulrahman Are those involved in Lian separated? He said: Glorious is Allah! Yes. The first who asked about hat was so-and-so the son of so-and-so. He came to the Prophet ﷺ and said O Messenger of Allah! If one of us saw his wife committing adultery; what should he do? If he were to say anything; his statement would be a horrible matter; and if he were to remain silent; his silence about the matter would be horrible. He said: So the Prophet ﷺ remained silent and did not answer him. Afterwards he came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: The one who asked you about it has been tried by it. So Allah revealed these Ayat from Surat AlNur: And those who accuse their wives and have no witnesses except themselves; let the testimony of one of them be four testimonies by Allah 24:6-10 - until the end of those Ayat. He said: So he called for the man and recited the Ayat to him and admonished him; reminded him; and he told him: Indeed the punishment of the world is less than the punishment of the Hereafter. So he said: Nay! By the One Who sent you with the Truth! I did not lie about her. Then he ﷺ did the same with the woman; admonishing her and reminding her and he told her: Indeed the punishment of the world is less than the punishment of the Hereafter. She said: Nay! By the One Who sent you with the Truth! He is not telling the truth. He said: So he started with the man: He testified four times; by Allah that he is one of the truthful; and the fifth time that the curse of Allah be upon him if he was one of the liars. SunanAlTermithi-017-001-7943 | Hisham Bin Urwah narrated from his father; from Aisha that she said: The people were such that a man would divorce his wife when he wanted to divorce her; and she remained his wife when he wanted to take her back while she was in her Iddah; and he could divorce a hundred times; or even more; such that a man could say to his wife: By Allah! I will neither divorce you irrevocably; nor give you residence ever! She would say: And how is that? He would say: I will divorce you; and whenever your Iddah is just about to end I will take you back. So a woman went to Aisha to inform her about that; and Aisha was silent until the Prophet came. So she told him and the Prophet was silent; until the Quran was revealed: Divorce is two times; after that; retain her on reasonable terms or release her with kindness. Which of you is the speaker of such and such words? The people remained silent. He said: You might have said them; Hittan. He replied: I did not say them. I was afraid you might punish me. One of the people said: I said them and I did not intend by them anything except good. Abu Mousa said: Do you not know how you utter them in your prayer? The angels come early in the morning; sit at the door of the Masjid; and record that so-and-so came at the first hour; and so-and-so came at the second hour until the imam comes out for preaching. When a man sits in a place where he can listen to the sermon and look at the imam ; where he remains silent and does not interrupt; he will receive a double reward. If he stays away; sits in a place where he cannot listen to the sermon ; silent; and does not interrupt; he will receive the reward only once. If he sits in a place where he can listen to the sermon and look at the imam ; and he does not remain silent; he will have the burden of it. If anyone says to his companion sitting besides him to be silent while the imam is preaching ; he is guilty of idle talk. A man said; Messenger of Allah; do not tell us! The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; was silent. Then the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; repeated what he had said the first time. The man said to him; Do not tell us; Messenger of Allah! The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; was silent. Then the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said the same thing again. The man said; Do not tell us; Messenger of Allah! Then the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said the same thing again. Then the man began to say what he had said previously and a man at his side silenced him. MuwataMalik-017-001-34998 | Malik related to me from Zayd Ibn Aslam that his father said; Abdullah and Ubaydullah; the sons of Umar Ibn AlKhattab went out with the army to Iraq. On the way home; they passed by Abu Mousa AlAshari who was the amir of Basra. He greeted them and made them welcome; and told them that if there was anything he could do to help them; he would do it. Then he said; There is some of the property of Allah which I want to send to the amir Almuminin; so I will lend it to you; and you can buy wares from Iraq and sell them in Madina. Then give the principal to the amir Almuminin; and you keep the profit. They said that they would like to do it; and so he gave them the money and wrote to Umar Ibn AlKhattab to take the money from them. When they came to sell they made a profit; and when they paid the principal to Umar he asked; Did he lend everyone in the army the like of what he lent you? They said; No. Umar Ibn AlKhattab said; He made you the loan; because you are the sons of the amir Almuminin; so pay the principal and the profit. Abdullah was silent. Ubaydullah said; You do not need to do this; amir Almuminin. Had the principal decreased or been destroyed; we would have guaranteed it. Umar said; Pay it. Abdullah was silent; and Ubaydullah repeated it. A man who was sitting with Umar said; Amir Almuminin; better that you make it a qirad. Umar said; I have made it qirad. If he is silent and breaks the flow of speech; he has no exception. Yahya said; Malik said that a man who said that he had disbelieved or associated something with Allah and then he broke his oath; had no kaffara; and he was not a disbeliever or one who associated something with Allah unless his heart concealed something of either of those.
