They said: "What affair is this of ours?" Say thou: "Indeed, this affair is wholly Allah's." They hide in their minds what they dare not reveal to thee. They say (to themselves): "If we had had anything to do with this affair, We should not have been in the slaughter here." Say: "Even if you had remained in your homes, those for whom death was decreed would certainly have gone forth to the place of their death"; but (all this was) that Allah might test what is in your breasts and purge what is in your hearts. For Allah knoweth well the secrets of your hearts.

Say: "Fighting therein is a grave (offence); but graver is it in the sight of Allah to prevent access to the path of Allah, to deny Him, to prevent access to the Sacred Mosque, and drive out its members." Tumult and oppression are worse than slaughter. Nor will they cease fighting you until they turn you back from your faith if they can. And if any of you Turn back from their faith and die in unbelief, their works will bear no fruit in this life and in the Hereafter; they will be companions of the Fire and will abide therein.

This day have those who reject faith given up all hope of your religion: yet fear them not but fear Me. This day have I perfected your religion for you, completed My favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion. But if any is forced by hunger, with no inclination to transgression, Allah is indeed Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.

SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2079		Narrated AlBara Bin Azib that once he had a guest; so he told his family on the Day of Eid AlAdha that they should slaughter the animal for sacrifice before he returned from the Id prayer in order that their guest could take his meal. So his family slaughtered the animal before the prayer. Then they mentioned that event to the Prophet who ordered AlBara to slaughter another sacrifice. AlBara said to the Prophet ﷺ ; I have a young milch goat which is better than two sheep for slaughtering. The sub-narrator; Ibn aown used to say; I dont know whether the permission to slaughter a goat as a sacrifice was especially given to AlBara or if it was in general for all the Muslims. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2792		Narrated Rafi Bin Khadeej: We were with the Prophet ﷺ in Dhu AlHulaifa and there the people were struck with severe hunger. Then we got camels and sheep as war booty and slaughtered them. The Prophet ﷺ was behind all the people. The people hurried and fixed the cooking pots for cooking but the Prophet ﷺ came there and ordered that the cooking pots be turned upside down. Then he distributed the animals; regarding ten sheep as equal to one camel. One of the camels ran away and there were a few horses with the people. They chased the camel but they got tired; whereupon a man shot it with an arrow whereby Allah stopped it. The Prophet ﷺ said; Among these animals some are as wild as wild beasts; so if one of them runs away from you; treat it in this way. I said. We hope; or we are afraid that tomorrow we will meet the enemy and we have no knives; shall we slaughter our animals with canes? The Prophet ﷺ said; If the killing tool causes blood to gush out and if Allah Name is mentioned; eat of the slaughterer animal. But do not slaughter with a tooth or a nail. I am telling you why: A tooth is a bone; and the nail is the knife of Ethiopians. SahihMuslim-017-001-17248		Anas Bin Malik reported Allah Messenger ﷺ having said on the Day Of AlNahr Sacrifice : He who slaughtered the animal as a sacrifice before the Id prayer. should repeat it i. e. offer another animal. Thereupon a person stood up and said: Messenger of Allah; that is the day when meat is much desired; and he also made a mention of the need of his neighbour; and perhaps Allah Messenger ﷺ attested it. He the person who had sacrificed the animal before the Id prayer said: I have a goat of less than one year of age with me and I like it more than two fleshy goats; should I offer it as a sacrifice? He permitted him to do so. He the narrator said: I do not know whether this permission was granted to anyone else besides him or not. So you come along with a group of people with you. Thereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said loudly: O people of the ditch; Jabir has arranged a feast for you; so come along. Allah Messenger ﷺ said: Do not remove your earthen pot from the hearth and do not bake the bread from the kneaded flour until I come. So I came and Allah Messenger ﷺ came and he was ahead of the people; and I came to my wife and she said to me : You will be humbled. I said: I did what you had asked me to do. She his wife said: I brought out the kneaded flour and Allah Messenger ﷺ put some saliva of his in that and blessed It. He then put saliva in the earthen pot and blessed it and then said. Call another baker who can bake with you. and bring out the soup from it; but do not remove it from the hearth; and the guests were one thousand. Jabir said : I take an oath by Allah that all of them ate the food to their fill until they left it and went away and our earthen pot was brimming over as before; and so was the case with our flour; or as Dahhak another narrator said: It the flour was in the same condition and loaves had been prepared from that. He was a man with many date-palms and sheep; but he had no servants so they did not find him there. They said to his wife: Where is your companion? She said: He has gone to fetch us some good water. It was not long before Abu AlHaitham came along hauling to a large water-skin which he put down. Then he came to hug the Prophet ﷺ and uttered that his father and mother should be ransomed for him. Then he went to grove of his and he spread out a mat for them. Then he went to a date-palm and returned with a cluster of dates which he put down. The prophet s.a.w said: Why dont you select some ripe dates for us? He said: O Messenger of Allah s.a.w ! I wanted you to select from the ripe dates and the unripe dates. So they ate and they drank from that water. The Messenger of Allah s.a.w said: By the One in Whose Hand is my soul! This is among the favors which you shall be asked about on the Day Of Judgment. Cool shade; tasty ripe dates; and cool water. Abu AlHaitham left to prepare some food for them. The Prophet ﷺ said: Do not slaughter one with milk. So he Slaughtered a small female or male goat and brought it to them so they could eat it. The Prophet ﷺ said: Do you have any servants? He said: No. So he said: Then if we get some captives we shall bring them for you. So later the Prophet ﷺ came with 2 males; there was no third among them and he brought them to Abu AlHaitham. The Prophet ﷺ said: Choose from them. He said: O Prophet of Allah! Choose for me. So the Prophet ﷺ said: Indeed the one consulted is entrusted. Take this one for I have seen him praying; and encourage him to do well. So Abu AlHaitham went to his wife and informed her of what the Messenger of Allah s.a.w said. So his wife said: You will not fulfill what the Prophet ﷺ said until you have freed him. So he said: He is free. So the Prophet ﷺ said: Indeed Allah has not send a Prophet nor made a Khalifah except that he has two groups of supporters; group ordering him to do good; and prohibiting him from evil and a group that never ceases spoiling his affairs. Then the sea cast ashore a beast called AlAnbar ; and we ate from it for half a month; and daubed our bodies with its fat; and our health was restored. Abu Ubaidah took one it its ribs and looked for the tallest camel man and the tallest man in the army; and he passed beneath it. Then they got hungry again and a man slaughtyered three camels; the they got hungry and a man slaughtered three camels; then they got hungry and a man slaughtered three camels; then they got hungry and a man slaughtered three camels. Then Abu Ubaidah told him not to do that. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-26298		Narrated Laqit Ibn Sabirah: I was the leader of the delegation of Banu AlMuntafiq or the narrator doubted I was among the delegation of Banu AlMuntafiq that came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. When we reached the Prophet; we did not find him in his house. We found there Aisha; the Mother of the Believers. She ordered that a dish called Khazirah should be prepared for us. It was then prepared. A tray containing dates was then presented to us. The narrator Qutaybah did not mention the word qina; tray. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came. He asked: Has anything been served to you or ordered for you? We replied: Yes; Messenger of Allah. While we were sitting in the company of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ we suddenly saw that a shepherd was driving a herd of sheep to their fold. He had with him a newly-born lamb that was crying. He the Prophet asked him: What did it bear; O so and so? He replied: A ewe. He then said: Slaughter for us in its place a sheep. Do not think that we are slaughtering it for you. We have one hundred sheep and we do not want their number to increase. Whenever a ewe is born; we slaughter a sheep in its place. The narrator says that the Prophet ﷺ used the word la tahsabanna; do not think. I the narrator Laqit then said: Messenger of Allah; I have a wife who has something wrong in her tongue; i.e. she is insolent. He said: Then divorce her. I said: Messenger of Allah; she had company with me and I have children from her. He said: Then ask her to obey you. If there is something good in her; she will do so obey ; and do not beat your wife as you beat your slave-girl. I said: Messenger of Allah; tell me about ablution. He said: Perform ablution in full and make the fingers go through the beard and snuff with water well except when you are fasting. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-28579		Narrated Maymunah; daughter of Kardam: I went out with my father to see the hajj performed by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I fixed my eyes on him. My father came near him while he was riding his camel. He had a whip like the whip of scribes. I heard the bedouin and the people say: The whip; the whip. My father came near him and held his foot. She said: He admitted his Prophethood and stood and listened to him. He said: Messenger of Allah; I have made a vow that if a son is born to me; I shall slaughter a number of sheep at the end of Buwanah in the dale of hill. The narrator said: I do not know for certain that she said: Fifty sheep. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Does it contain any idol? He said: No. Then he said: Fulfil your vow that you have taken for Allah. He then gathered them i.e. the sheep and began to slaughter them. A sheep ran away from them. He searched for it saying: O Allah; fulfil my vow on my behalf. So he succeeded in finding it and slaughtered it. He questioned them and they said; Hunger has driven us out. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; And hunger has brought me out. They went to Ab AlHaytham Ibn AlTayihan AlAnsari. He ordered that some barley that was in the house be prepared and he got up to slaughter a sheep for them. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; Leave the one with milk. He slaughtered a sheep for them and brought them sweet water and it was hung on a palm-tree. MuwataMalik-017-001-35173		Yahya related to me from Malik that he had heard some of the people of knowledge say that when falcons; eagles; and hawks and their like; understood as trained dogs understood; there was no harm in eating what they had killed in the course of hunting; if the name of Allah had been mentioned when they were sent out. Malik said; The best of what I have heard about retrieving game from the falcon talons or from the dog fangs and then waiting until it dies; is that it is not halal to eat it. Malik said; The same applies to anything which could have been slaughtered by the hunter when it was in the talons of the falcon or the fangs of the dog. If the hunter leaves it until the falcon or dog has killed it; it is not halal to eat it either. He continued; The same thing applies to any game hit by a hunter and caught while still alive; which he neglects to slaughter before it dies. Malik said; It is generally agreed among us that it is halal to eat the game that a hunting-dog belonging to magians hunts or kills; if it is sent out by a muslim and the animal is trained. There is no harm in it even if the muslim does not actually slaughter it. It is the same as a muslim using a magian knife to slaughter with or using his bow and arrows to shoot and kill with. The game he shot and the animal he slaughters are halal. There is no harm in eating them. If a magian sends out a muslim hunting dog for game; and it catches it; the game is not to be eaten unless it is slaughtered by a muslim. That is like a magian using a muslim bow and arrow to hunt game with; or like his using a muslim knife to slaughter with. It is not halal to eat anything killed like that. He ordered him to eat it. Then he asked Zayd Ibn Thabit about it; and he said; Does a corpse move? and he forbade eating its meat. Malik was asked about a sheep which fell down and injured itself badly and then its master reached it and slaughtered it. Blood flowed from it but it did not move. He said; But she is blind. Umar replied; Then put it in a line with other camels. He said; How will it be able to eat from the ground? Umar asked; Is it from the livestock of the jizya or the zakat? and Aslam replied; From the livestock of the jizya. Umar said; By AIIah; you wish to eat it. Aslam said; It has the brand of the jizya on it. So Umar ordered it to be slaughtered. He had nine platters; and on each of the platters he put some of every fruit and delicacy that there was and then sent them to the wives of the Prophet; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; and the one he sent to his daughter Hafsa was the last of them all; and if there was any deficiency in any of them it was in Hafsa portion. He put meat from the slaughtered animal on the platters and sent them to the wives of the Prophet; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; and he ordered what was left of the meat of the slaughtered animal to be prepared. Then he invited the Muhajirun and the Ansar to eat it. Malik said; I do not think that livestock should be taken from people who pay the jizya except as jizya. Ayoub added I do not know if he said Omits or forgets. Malik said; If it is a hady that has to be slaughtered it may only be done in Makka; but if it is a sacrifice; it may be slaughtered wherever the one who owes the sacrifice prefers.
