Abu Rafi said; I was offered five hundred cash but I refused. Had I not heard the Prophet ﷺ saying; A neighbor is more entitled to receive the care of his neighbor; I would not have sold it to you. The narrator said; to Sufyan: Mamar did not say so. Sufyan said; But he did say so to me. Some people said; If someone wants to sell a house and deprived somebody of the right of preemption; he has the right to play a trick to render the preemption invalid. And that is by giving the house to the buyer as a present and marking its boundaries and giving it to him. The buyer then gives the seller one-thousand Dirham as compensation in which case the preemptor loses his right of preemption. He said; The Prophet ﷺ said to those who were involved in a case of Lien; Your accounts are with Allah. One of you two is a liar; and you the husband have no right over her she is divorced. The man said; What about my property Mahr ? The Prophet ﷺ said; You have no right to get back your property. If you have told the truth about her then your property was for the consummation of your marriage with her; and if you told a lie about her; then you are less rightful to get your property back. Ibn Umar said; The Prophet ﷺ separated the couple of Bani AlAjlan by divorce and said thrice; Allah knows that one of you two is a liar; so will one of you repent to Allah ? SahihAlBukhari-017-001-5460		Narrated Sahl Bin Abu Hathma: Allah Messenger ﷺ forbade the selling of fruits fresh dates for dried dates but allowed the sale of fruits on the Araya by estimation and their new owners might eat their dates fresh. Sufyan in another narration said; I told Yahya a sub-narrator when I was a mere boy; Meccans say that the Prophet ﷺ allowed them the sale of the fruits on Araya by estimation. Yahya asked; How do the Meccans know about it? I replied; They narrated it from the Prophet ﷺ through Jabir. On that; Yahya kept quiet. Sufyan said; I meant that Jabir belonged to Medina. Sufyan was asked whether in Jabir narration there was any prohibition of selling fruits before their benefit is evident i.e. no dangers of being spoilt or blighted. He replied that there was none. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6966		Narrated Ibn Abbas: When the Verse:- If there are twenty steadfast amongst you; they will overcome two hundred. 8.65 was revealed; then it became obligatory for the Muslims that one Muslim should not flee from ten non-Muslims. Sufyan the sub-narrator once said; Twenty Muslims should not flee before two hundred non Muslims. Then there was revealed: But now Allah has lightened your task.. 8.66 So it became obligatory that one-hundred Muslims should not flee before two hundred nonmuslims. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-7015		Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet ﷺ said; When Allah has ordained some affair in the Heaven; the angels beat with their wings in obedience to His statement; which sounds like a chain dragged over a rock. Sufyan; to illustrate this; spread the fingers of his right hand and placed them one over the other horizontally. A flame may overtake and burn the eavesdropper before conveying the news to the one below him; or it may not overtake him till he has conveyed it to the one below him; who in his turn; conveys it to the one below him; and so on till they convey the news to the earth. Or probably Sufyan said; Till the news reaches the earth. Then the news is inspired to a sorcerer who would add a hundred lies to it. His prophecy will prove true as far as the heavenly news is concerned. The people will say. Didnt he tell us that on such-and-such a day; such-and-such a thing will happen? SahihAlBukhari-017-001-7202		Narrated Ali: Allah Messenger ﷺ sent me along with AlZubair and AlMiqdad and said; Proceed till you reach a place called Raudat-Khakh where there is a lady travelling in a howda on a camel. She has a letter. Take the letter from her. So we set out; and our horses ran at full pace till we reached Raudat Khakh; and behold; we saw the lady and said to her ; Take out the letter! She said; I have no letter with me. We said; Either you take out the letter or we will strip you of your clothes. So she took the letter out of her hair braid. We brought the letter to the Prophet ﷺ and behold; it was addressed by Hatib Bin Abi Baltaa to some pagans at Mecca; informing them of some of the affairs of the Prophet. The Prophet ﷺ said; What is this; O Hatib? Hatib replied; Do not be hasty with me; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! I am an Ansari man and do not belong to them Quraish infidels while the emigrants who were with you had their relatives who used to protect their families and properties at Mecca. So; to compensate for not having blood relation with them. I intended to do them some favor so that they might protect my relatives at Mecca ; and I did not do this out of disbelief or an inclination to desert my religion. The Prophet then said to his companions ; He Hatib has told you the truth. Umar said; O Allah Apostle! Allow me to chop his head off? The Apostle said; He is one of those who witnessed fought in the Battle of Badr; and what do you know; perhaps Allah looked upon the people of Badr Badr warriors and said; Do what you want as I have forgiven you. Amr; a sub-narrator; said;: This Verse was revealed about him Hatib : O you who believe! Take not My enemies and your enemies as friends or protectors. 60.1 Narrated Ali: Sufyan was asked whether the Verse : Take not My enemies and your enemies... was revealed in connection with Hatib. Sufyan replied; This occurs only in the narration of the people. I memorized the Hadith from Amr; not overlooking even a single letter thereof; and I do not know of anybody who remembered it by heart other than myself. In the hadith transmitted on the authority of Sufyan and Zaid Bin Abu Unaisa and Hammid Bin Salama the words are : If someone comes and informs you about the number of articles of the bag and the straps; then give that to him. Sufyan has made this addition in the narration of Waki: Otherwise it is like your property. And in the narration of Ibn Numair the words are: Otherwise make use of that. He said: You say that; O bald one! Based upon what do you say that? I said: Based upon the Quran; the Judge between you and I is the Quran. So Hudhaifah said: Whoever argues using the Quran; then he has indeed succeeded. One of the narrators Sufyan said: He means: He has indeed proven - and perhaps he Sufyan said: He triumphed. He Zirr said: Glorified is He Who took His slave for a journey by night from AlMasjid AlHaram to AlMasjid AlAqsa 17:1. He Hudhaifah said: Do you see this proves that he ﷺ performed Prayer in it? I said: No. He said: If he had performed Prayer in it; then it would have been required upon you that you perform Prayer in it; just as it is required that you perform Prayer in AlMasjid AlHaram. Hudhaifah said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was brought a beast with a long back - stretching out like this - one stride of it; is as far as his vision. So; the two of them remained upon the back of AlBuraq until they saw Paradise and the Fire; and all of what has been prepared for the Hereafter; then they returned back to where they began. He said: They say that he was fettered; but for what? Because he might flee? The Knower of the unseen and the witness subdued him. The man from the Muhajirin said: O Muhajirin! the man from the Ansar said: O Ansar! The Prophet heard that and said: What is this evil call of Jahliyah? They said: A man from the Muhajirin kicked a man from the Ansar. So the Prophet said: Leave that; for it is offensive. Abdullah Bin Ubay Bin Salul heard that and said: Did they really do that? By Allah! If we return to AlMadinah indeed the more honorable will expel therefrom the meaner. Umar said: Allow me to chop off the head of this hypocrite; O Messenger of Allah! The Prophet said: Leave him; I do not want the people to say that Muhammad kills his Companions. Someone other than Amr said: So his son; Abdullah Bin Abdullah; said: By Allah! You shall not return until you say that you are the mean and that the Messenger of Allah is the honorable. So he did so. Then Amr Ibn Umayah AlDamri came to me and said: I have been told that you are intending to make a journey and are seeking a companion. I said: Yes. He said: I am your companion. I then went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: I have found a companion. He asked: Who is he? I replied: Amr Ibn Umayah AlDamri. He said: When you come down to the territory of his people; be careful of him; for a maxim says: If one is your real brother; do not feel safe with him. So we proceeded; and when I reached AlAbwa; he said to me: I have some work with my people at Waddan; so stay here till I come back. I said: Do not lose your way. When he turned his back; I recalled the words of the Prophet ﷺ. So I rode my camel and galloped without stopping. When I reached AlAsafir; he was pursuing me with a group of men. So I galloped and forged ahead of him. When he saw me that I had outstripped him; they returned and he came to me. He said to me: I had some work with my people. I said: Yes. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-29293		Narrated Abdullah Ibn Abbas: When the Prophet ﷺ alighted at Marr AlZahran; AlAbbas said: I thought; I swear by Allah; if the Messenger of Allah ﷺ enters Mecca with the army by force before the Quraysh come to him and seek protection from him; it will be their total ruin. So I rode on the mule of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and thought; Perhaps I may find a man coming for his needs who will to the people of Mecca and inform them of the position of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; so that they may come to him and seek protection from him. While I was on my way; I heard Abu Sufyan and Budayl Ibn Warqa speaking. I said: O Abu Hanzalah! He recognized my voice and said: AbulFadl? I replied: Yes. He said: who is with you; may my parents be a sacrifice for you? I said: Here are the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his people with him. He asked: Which is the way out? He said: He rode behind me; and his companion returned. When the morning came; I brought him to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he embraced Islam. I said: Messenger of Allah; Abu Sufyan is a man who likes this pride; do something for him. He said: Yes; he who enters the house of Abu Sufyan is safe; he who closes the door upon him is safe; and he who enters the Masjid is safe. The people scattered to their houses and in the Masjid. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-29543		Buraidah reported the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ as saying Respect to be shown by those who stay at home to the women of those who are engaged in jihad is t be like that shown to their mothers. If any man among those who stay at home is entrusted with the oversight of ones family who is engaged in jihad and betrays him; he will be setup for him on the Day of Resurrection and he the mujahid will be told This man was entrusted with the oversight of your family; so take what you want from his good deeds. The Apostle of Allaah ﷺ turned towards us and said So what do you think.Abu Dawud said Qanab a narrator of this tradition was a pious man. Ibn Abi Laila intended to appoint him a judge; but he refused and said If I intend to fulfill my need of a dirham; I seek the help of a person for it. He said Which of us does not seek the help in his need? He said Bring me out so that I may see. So he was brought out; and he concealed himself. Sufyan said While he was concealing himself. Sufyan said While he was concealing himself the house suddenly fell on him and he died. MuwataMalik-017-001-34925		Malik related to me from Yahya Ibn Said from Said Ibn AlMusayab that a Syrian man called Ibn Khaybari found a man with his wife and killed him; or killed them both. Muawiya Ibn Abi Sufyan found it difficult to make a decision and he wrote to Abu Mousa AlAshari to ask Ali Ibn Abi Talib for him about that. So Abu Mousa asked Ali Ibn Abi Talib and AIi said to him; Is this thing in my land? I adjure you; you must tell me. Abu Mousa explained to him how Muawiya Ibn Abi Sufyan had written him to ask Ali about it. Ali said; I am AbuHassan If he does not bring four witnesses; then let him be completely handed over; to the relatives of the murdered man. MuwataMalik-017-001-35257		Yahya related to me from Malik from Abdullah Ibn Yazid; the mawla of AlAswad Ibn Sufyan from Abu Salama Ibn Abdulrahman Ibn Awuf from Fatima bint Qays that Abu Amr Ibn Hafs divorced her absolutely while he was away in Syria. His agent sent her some barley and she was displeased with it; saying; By Allah; I dont expect anything from you. She went to the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; and mentioned it to him. He said; You have no maintenance. He then ordered her to spend her idda in the house of Umm Sharik. Then he said; This is a woman whom my companions visit. Spend the idda in the house of Ibn Umm Maktum. He is a blind man and you can undress at his home. When you are free to remarry; tell me. She continued; When I was free to remarry; I mentioned to him that Muawiya Ibn Abi Sufyan and Abu Jahm Ibn Hisham had asked for me in marriage. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; As for Abu Jahm; he never puts down his stick from his shoulder i.e. he is always travelling ; and as for Muawiya he is a poor man with no property. Marry Usama Ibn Zayd. I objected to him and he said; Marry Usama Ibn Zayd; so I married him; and Allah put good in it and I was content with him.
