Then he came to me while I was saying in my heart; La hawla wala quwatta illa billah There is neither might nor power but with Allah. He said; to me; O Abdullah Bin Qais! SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1302 | Narrated AlMiswar Bin Makhrama: The group of people whom Umar had selected as candidates for the Caliphate gathered and consulted each other. Abdulrahman said to them; I am not going to compete with you in this matter; but if you wish; I would select for you a caliph from among you. So all of them agreed to let Abdulrahman decide the case. So when the candidates placed the case in the hands of Abdulrahman the people went towards him and nobody followed the rest of the group nor obeyed any after him. So the people followed Abdulrahman and consulted him all those nights till there came the night we gave the oath of allegiance to Uthman. AlMiswar bin Makhrama added: Abdulrahman called on me after a portion of the night had passed and knocked on my door till I got up; and he said to me; I see you have been sleeping! By Allah; during the last three nights I have not slept enough. Go and call AlZubair and Sad. So I called them for him and he consulted them and then called me saying; Call Ali for me. I called Ali and he held a private talk with him till very late at night; and then Al; got up to leave having had much hope to be chosen as a Caliph but Abdulrahman was afraid of something concerning Ali. Abdulrahman then said to me; Call Uthman for me. I called him and he kept on speaking to him privately till the Muadh-dhin put an end to their talk by announcing the Adhan for the Fajr prayer. When the people finished their morning prayer and that six men group gathered near the pulpit; Abdulrahman sent for all the Muhajirin emigrants and the Ansar present there and sent for the army chief who had performed the Hajj with Umar that year. When all of them had gathered; Abdulrahman said; None has the right to be worshipped but Allah; and added; Now then; O Ali; I have looked at the people tendencies and noticed that they do not consider anybody equal to Uthman; so you should not incur blame by disagreeing. Then Abdulrahman said to Uthman ; I gave the oath of allegiance to you on condition that you will follow Allah Laws and the traditions of Allah Apostle and the traditions of the two Caliphs after him. So Abdulrahman gave the oath of allegiance to him; and so did the people including the Muhajirin emigrants and the Ansar and the chiefs of the army staff and all the Muslims. | The Chapter on Alansar And Dirhams in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on How do the people give the Baia to the Imam in Sahih AlBukhari

I seek refuge with you Allah from worries care and grief; from incapacity and laziness; from miserliness and cowardice; from being heavily in debt and from being overpowered by other men. I saw him making a kind of cushion with a cloak or a garment for her. He then let her ride behind him. When we reached a place called AlSahba; he prepared a special meal called Hais; and asked me to invite the men who came and ate; and that was the marriage banquet given on the consummation of his marriage to her. Then he proceeded till the mountain of Uhud appeared; whereupon he said; This mountain loves us and we love it. When he approached Medina; he said; O Allah! Then the Prophet ﷺ addressed us; and after praising and glorifying Allah; he said: Amma Badu; I employ a man from among you to manage some affair of what Allah has put under my custody; and then he comes to me and says; This is your money and this has been given to me as a gift. Some of them said; We have come out for a purpose and we do not think that it is proper to give it up; while others said to Umar ; You have along with you. other people and the companions of Allah Messenger ﷺ so do not advise that we take them to this epidemic. Umar said to them; Leave me now. Then he said; Call the Ansar for me. I called them and he consulted them and they followed the way of the emigrants and differed as they did. He then said to them; Leave me now; and added; Call for me the old people of Quraish who emigrated in the year of the Conquest of Mecca. I called them and they gave a unanimous opinion saying; We advise that you should return with the people and do not take them to that place of epidemic. So Umar made an announcement; I will ride back to Medina in the morning; so you should do the same. Abu Ubaida Bin AlJarrah said to Umar ; Are you running away from what Allah had ordained? Umar said; Would that someone else had said such a thing; O Abu Ubaida! Yes; we are running from what Allah had ordained to what Allah has ordained. Dont you agree that if you had camels that went down a valley having two places; one green and the other dry; you would graze them on the green one only if Allah had ordained that; and you would graze them on the dry one only if Allah had ordained that? At that time Abdulrahman Bin Auf; who had been absent because of some job; came and said; I have some knowledge about this. Abdulrahman said; Accept your meal from us; for if my father comes and finds you not having taken your meal yet; we will be blamed severely by him; but they refused to take their meals. So I was sure that my father would be angry with me. When he came; I went away to hide myself from him. He asked; What have you done about the guests ? They informed him the whole story. Abu Bakr called; O Abdulrahman I kept quiet. He then called again. O Abdulrahman I kept quiet and he called again; O ignorant boy ! I beseech you by Allah; if you hear my voice; then come out! He said; As you have been waiting for me; by Allah; I will not eat of it tonight. They said; By Allah; we will not eat of it till you eat of it. He said; I have never seen a night like this night in evil. What is wrong with you? Why dont you accept your meals of hospitality from us? He said to me ; Bring your meal. The Prophet ﷺ came and asked the permission to enter; and he was allowed. The Prophet ﷺ entered and said to Abu Bakr; Let those who are with you; go out. Abu Bakr replied; There is no stranger ; they are your family. Let my father be sacrificed for you; O Allah Apostle! The Prophet ﷺ said; I have been allowed to leave Mecca. And he found for us nothing besides it. Abu Ubaida gave each of us one date everyday. I Abu Zubair; one of the narrators said: What did you do with that? He said: We sucked that just as a baby sucks and then drank water over that; and it sufficed us for the day until night. We beat off leaves with the help of our staffs; then drenched them with water and ate them. We then went to the coast of the sea; and there rose before us on the coast of the sea something like a big mound. We came near that and we found that it was a beast; called AlAnbar spermaceti whale. Abu Ubaida said. It is dead. He then said: No but it does not matter ; we have been sent by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the path of Allah and you are hard pressed on account of the scarcity of food ; so you eat that. We three hundred in number stayed there for a month; until we grew bulky. He Jabir said: I saw how we extracted pitcher after pitcher full of fat from the cavity of its eye; and sliced from it compact piece of meat equal to a bull or like a bull. Abu Ubaida called forth thirteen men from us and he made them sit in the cavity of its eye; and he took hold of one of the ribs of its chest and made it stand and then saddled the biggest of the camels we had with us and it passed under it the arched rib ; and we provided ourselves with pieces of boiled meat especially for use in our journey. When we came back to Medina; we went to Allah Messenger ﷺ and made a mention of that to him; whereupon he said: That was a provision which Allah had brought forth for you. Is there any piece of meat left with you; so tnat you give to us that? That is why it was called the Detachment of the Leaves. The ocean cast out for us an animal which was called AlAnbar whale. We ate of that for half of the month and rubbed its fat on our bodies until our bodies became stout. Abu Ubaida caught hold of one of its ribs and fixed that up. He then cast a glance at the tallest man of the army and the highest of the camels. and then made him ride over that; and that-tnan passed beneath it the rib ; and many a man could sit in its eye-socket; and we extracted many pitchers of fat from the cavity of its eye. We had small bags containing dates with us before finding the whale. Ubaida gave every person amongst us a handful of dates and when the provision ran short ; he then gave each one of us one date. And when that stock was exhausted; we felt its loss. | The Chapter on Lost And Found And Dates in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 4 in Sahih Muslim

We stayed for some time there as Allah willed; and there was brought to Allah Messenger ﷺ booty of camels. He called us and commanded that we should be given five white humped camels. As we were about to go back; some of us said to the other: As we made Allah Messenger ﷺ forget oath; there would be no blessing for us in his gift. We went back to him and said: Allah Messenger; we came to you to provide us with riding animals and you took an oath that you would never equip us with mounts and then you have provided us with the riding beasts Allah Messenger; have you forgotten? Thereupon he said: I swear by Allah that if Allah so wills; I shall not swear an oath; and then consider something else to be better than it without making atonement for my oath and doing the thing that is better. And he said: My Lord; my mother is calling me while I am engaged in my prayer; and he continued with the prayer; and she said: My Lord; dont give him death unless he has seen the fate of the prostitutes. The story of Juraij and that of his meditation and prayer gained currency amongst Bani Israil. There was a prostitute who had been a beauty incarnate. She said to the people : If you like I can allure him to evil. She presented herself to him but he paid no heed to her. She came to a shepherd who lived near the temple and she offered herself to him and he had a sexual intercourse with her and so she became pregnant arid when she gave birth to a child she said: This is from Juraij. So they came and asked him to get down and demolished the temple and began to beat him. He said: What is the matter? They said: You have committed fornication with this prostitute and she has given birth to a child from your loins. He said: Where is the child? They brought him the child and he said: just leave me so that I should observe prayer. And he observed prayer and when he finished; he came to the child. He struck his stomach and said: O boy; who is your father? lie said: He is such shepherd. So they turned towards Juraij; kissed him and touched him for seeking blessing and said: We are prepared to construct your temple with gold. He said. No; just rebuild it with mud as it had been; and they did that. Then there was a babe who was sucking his mother that a person dressed in fine garment came riding upon a beast. His mother said: O Allah; make my child like this one. He the babe left sucking and began to see towards him; and said: O Allah; dont make me like him. He then returned to the chest and began to suck the milk of his mother. He Abu Huraira said: I perceived as if I am seeing Allah Messenger ﷺ as he is explaining the scene of his sucking milk with his forefinger in his mouth and sucking that. He Abu Huraira further reported Allah Apostle may be peace upon him as saying: There happened to pass by him a girl who was being beaten and they were saying: You have committed adultery and you have committed theft and she was saying: Allah is enough for me and He is my good Protector; and his mother said: O Allah; dont make my child like her and he left sucking the milk; and looked towards her and said: O Allah; make me like her; and there was a talk between them. She said: O with shaven head; a good-looking person happened to pass by and I said: O Allah; make my child like him; and you said: O Allah; dont make me like him; and they passed by a girl while they were beating her and saying: You committed fornication and you committed theft; and I said: O Allah; dont make my child like her; and you said: O Allah; make me like her. Thereupon he said: That person was a tyrant; and I said: O Allah; dont make me like him; and they were saying about her: You committed fornication whereas in fact she had not committed that and they were saying: You have committed theft whereas she had not committed theft; so I said: O Allah; make me like her. | The Chapter on Fornication And Adultery And Family in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 2 in Sahih Muslim

SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-24900 | Aisha wife of the Prophet ﷺ and Umm Salamah said Abu Hudaifah Bin Utbah Bin Rabiah Bin Abd Shams adopted Salim as his son and married him to his niece Hind; daughter of AlWalid Bin Utbah Bin Rabiah. He Salim was the freed slave of a woman from the Ansar the Helpers as the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ adopted Zaid as his son. In pre Islamic days when anyone adopted a man as his son; the people called him by his name and he was given a share from his inheritance. Allaah; the Exalted; revealed about this matter Call them by the name of their fathers; that is juster in the sight of Allaah. And if ye know not their fathers; then they are your brethren in the faith and your clients. They were then called by their names of their fathers. A man; whose father was not known; remained under the protection of someone and considered brother in faith. Sahlah daughter of Suhail Bin Amr AlQuraishi then came and said Apostle of Allaah ﷺ ; we used to consider Salim our son. He dwelled with me and Abu Hudhaifah in the same house; and he saw me in the short clothes; but Allaah the Exalted; has revealed about them what you know; then what is your opinion about him? The Prophet ﷺ said give him your breast feed. She gave him five breast feeds. He then became like her foster son. Hence; Aisha may Allaah be pleased with her used to ask the daughters of her sisters and the daughters of her brethren to give him breast feed five times; whom Aisha wanted to see and who wanted to visit her. Though he might be of age; he then visited her. But Umm Salamah and all other wives of the Prophet ﷺ refused to allow anyone to visit them on the basis of such breast feeding unless one was given breast feed during infancy. They told Aisha by Allaah we do not know whether that was a special concession granted by the Prophet ﷺ to Salim exclusive of the people. | The Chapter on Family And Honor in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on About Who Was Made Prohibited Through Adult Fosterage in Sunan Abu Dawoud
SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-25111 | Aisha wife of the Prophet ﷺ said Marriage in pre Islamic times was of four kinds. One of them was the marriage contracted by the people today. A man asked another man to marry his relative sister or daughter to him. He fixed the dower and married her to him. Another kind of marriage was that a man asked his wife when she became pure from menstruation to send fro so and so and have sexual intercourse with him. Her husband kept himself aloof and did not have intercourse with her till It became apparent that she was pregnant from the man who had intercourse with her. When it was manifest that she was pregnant; her husband approached her if he liked. This marriage was called istibda to utilize man for intercourse for a noble birth. A third kind of marriage was that a group of people less than ten in number entered upon a woman and had intercourse with her. When she conceived gave birth to a child and a number of days passed after her delivery; she sent for them. No one of them could refuse to attend and they gathered before her. She said to them You have realized your affair. I have now given birth to a child. And this is your son. O so and so. She called the name of anyone of them she liked and the child was attributed to him. A fourth kind of marriage was that many people gathered together and entered upon a woman who did not prevent anyone who came to her. They were prostitutes. They hoisted flags at their doors which served as a sign for the one who intended to enter upon them. When she became pregnant and delivered the child ; they got together before her and called for the experts of tracing relationship from physical features. They attributed the child to whom they considered and it was given to him. The child was called his son and he could not deny. When Allah sent Muhammad ﷺ as a Prophet; he abolished all kinds of marriages prevalent among the people of the pre Islamic times except of the Muslims practiced today. | The Chapter on Fornication And Adultery And Family in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Regarding The Types Of Marriages That Were Practiced Before Islam in Sunan Abu Dawoud

He then asked : Do you know why I have assembled you? They said: Allah and His Messenger know best. He ﷺ said: I did not call you together fors some alarming news or for something good. Rather; I called you all because Tamim AlDari; a Christian; who came and accepted Islam; told me something which agrees with what I was telling you about the Dajjal. He told me that he sailed with thirty men of Lakhm and Judham and that they were storm-tossed for a month. They drew near to an island when the sun was setting. They sat in a boat nearest to them and entered the island where they were met by a very hairy beast. They said: Woe to you! What can you be ? It replied : I am the Jassasah. MuwataMalik-017-001-34279 | Yahya related to me from Malik that he had heard that the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; No one calls to guidance without having the same reward as those who follow him without diminishing their rewards at all. MuwataMalik-017-001-34922 | Yahya related to me from Malik from Zayd Ibn Aslam that the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; If someone changes his deen - strike his neck! The meaning of the statement of the Prophet; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; in our opinion and Allah knows best; is that if someone changes his deen; strike his neck! refers to those who leave Islam for other than it - like the heretics and their like; about whom it is known. They are killed without being called to tawba because their tawba is not recognised. They were hiding their kufr and publishing their Islam; so I do not think that one calls such people to tawba; and one does not accept their word. As for the one who goes out of Islam to something else and divulges it; one calls him to tawba. If he does not turn in tawba; he is killed. If there are people in that situation; I think that one should call them to Islam and call them to tawba. If they turn in tawba; that is accepted from them. If they do not turn in tawba; they are killed. That does not refer as we see it; and Allah knows best; to those who come out of Judaism to Christianity or from Christianity to Judaism; nor to someone who changes his deen from the various forms of deen except for Islam. Whoever comes out of Islam to other than it and divulges that; that is the one who is referred to; and Allah knows best! | The Chapter on Killing And Forgiveness in HodHood Indexing, The Book of The Evil Eye in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-34954 | Yahya said that he heard Malik say; What is done in our community about some one who gives a gift not intending a reward is that he calls witnesses to it. It is affirmed for the one to whom it has been given unless the giver dies before the one to whom it was given receives the gift. He said; If the giver wants to keep the gift after he has had it witnessed; he cannot. If the recipient claims it from him; he takes it. Malik said; If some one gives a gift and then withdraws it and the recipient brings a witness to testify for him that he was given the gift; be it goods; gold; silver or animals; the recipient is made to take an oath. If he refuses; the giver is made to take an oath. If he also refuses to take an oath; he gives to the recipient what he claims from him if he has at least one witness. If he does not have a witness; he has nothing. Malik said; If someone gives a gift not expecting anything in return and then the recipient dies; the heirs are in his place. If the giver dies before the recipient has received his gift; the recipient has nothing. That is because he was given a gift which he did not take possession of. If the giver wants to keep it; and he has called witnesses to the gift; he cannot do that. What is your opinion? Umar said to a man by his side; Come; so that you and I may make an assessment. They decided on a female goat for him; and the man turned away saying; This amir Almuminin cannot even make an assessment in the case of a gazelle until he calls a man to decide with him. Umar overheard the man words and called him and asked him; Do you recite Surat AlMaida? and he said; No. He said; Then do you recognize this man who has taken the decision with me? and he said; No. He said; If you had told me that you did recite Surat AlMaida; I would have dealt you a blow. MuwataMalik-017-001-36008 | Yahya related to me from Malik from Abu Hazim Ibn Dinar that Sahl Ibn Sad AlSaidi said; There are two times when the gates of heaven are opened; and few who make supplication have it returned to them unanswered. They are at the timeof the adhan; and in a rank of people fighting in the way of Allah. Malik was asked whether the adhan on the day of jumua was called before the time had come for the prayer and he said; It is not called until after the sun has passed the meridian. Malik was asked about doubling the adhan and the iqama; and at what point people had to stand when the iqama for the prayer was called. He said; I have heard nothing about the adhan and iqama except what I have seen people do. As for the iqama; it is not doubled. That is what the people of knowledge in our region continue to do. As for people standing up when the iqama for the prayer is called; I have not heard of any definite point at which it is begun; and I consider it rather to be according to people individual capacity; for some people are heavy and some are light; and they are not able to be as one man. Malik was asked about a gathering of people who wished to do the prescribed prayer calling the iqama and not the adhan; and he said; lt is enough for them. The adhan is only obligatory in Masjids where the prayer is said in congregation. Malik was asked about the muadhdhin saying Peace be upon you to the imam and calling him to the prayer; and he was asked who was the first person to whom such a greeting was made. He replied; I have not heard that this greeting occurred in the first community. Yahya said that Malik was asked whether a muadhdhin who called the people to prayer and then waited to see if anyone would come and no one did; so he said the iqama and did the prayer by himself and then people came after he had finished; should repeat the prayer with them. Malik said; He does not repeat the prayer; and whoever comes after he has finished should do the prayer by himself. Yahya said that Malik was asked about a muadhdhin who called the adhan for a group of people; did voluntary prayers; and then the group of people wanted to do the prayer with some one else saying the iqama. He said; There is no harm in that. His iqama or somebody else are the same. Yahya said that Malik said; The subh prayer is still called before dawn.
