He said: "Oh! how shall Allah bring it (ever) to life, after (this) its death?" but Allah caused him to die for a hundred years, then raised him up (again). He said: "How long didst thou tarry (thus)?" He said: (Perhaps) a day or part of a day." He said: "Nay, thou hast tarried thus a hundred years; but look at thy food and thy drink; they show no signs of age; and look at thy donkey: And that We may make of thee a sign unto the people, Look further at the bones, how We bring them together and clothe them with flesh." When this was shown clearly to him, he said: "I know that Allah hath power over all things."

If that is beyond your means, fast for three days. That is the expiation for the oaths ye have sworn. But keep to your oaths. Thus doth Allah make clear to you His signs, that ye may be grateful.

SahihAlBukhari-017-001-285Narrated Jabir Bin Abdullah: Allah Messenger ﷺ came to Abdullah Bin Ubai a hypocrite after his death and he has been laid in his pit grave. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-320Narrated Hisham father: Aisha said; I went to Abu Bakr during his fatal illness and he asked me; In how many garments was the Prophet ﷺ shrouded? SahihAlBukhari-017-001-4199Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah Messenger ﷺ said; The Prophet Moses was a shy person and used to cover his body completely because of his extensive shyness. One of the children of Israel hurt him by saying; He covers his body in this way only because of some defect in his skin; either leprosy or scrotal hernia; or he has some other defect. Allah wished to clear Moses of what they said about him; so one day while Moses was in seclusion; he took off his clothes and put them on a stone and started taking a bath. When he had finished the bath; he moved towards his clothes so as to take them; but the stone took his clothes and fled; Moses picked up his stick and ran after the stone saying; O stone! Give me my garment! Till he reached a group of Bani Israel who saw him naked then; and found him the best of what Allah had created; and Allah cleared him of what they had accused him of. The stone stopped there and Moses took and put his garment on and started hitting the stone with his stick. By Allah; the stone still has some traces of the hitting; three; four or five marks. This was what Allah refers to in His Saying:- O you who believe! SahihAlBukhari-017-001-5368Narrated Abu Hazim: I heard Sahl Bin Saad saying; A woman brought a Burda i.e. a square piece of cloth having edging. I asked; Do you know what a Burda is? They replied in the affirmative and said; It is a cloth sheet with woven margins. Sahl went on; She addressed the Prophet ﷺ and said; I have woven it with my hands for you to wear. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-5526Narrated Abdullah Bin Hunain: Abdullah Bin AlAbbas and AlMiswar Bin Makhrama differed at AlAbwa; Ibn Abbas said that a Muhrim could wash his head; while AlMiswar maintained that he should not do so. Abdullah Bin Abbas sent me to Abu Ayoub AlAnsari and I found him bathing between the two wooden posts of the well and was screened with a sheet of cloth. I greeted him and he asked who I was. I replied; I am Abdullah Bin Hunain and I have been sent to you by Ibn Abbas to ask you how Allah Messenger ﷺ used to wash his head while in the state of lhram. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-5584Narrated Safwan Bin Yala Bin Umaiya from his father who said: A man came to the Prophet ﷺ while he was at Jirana. The man was wearing a cloak which had traces of Khaluq or Sufra a kind of perfume. The man asked the Prophet ﷺ ; What do you order me to perform in my Umra? So; Allah inspired the Prophet ﷺ divinely and he was screened by a place of cloth. I wished to see the Prophet ﷺ being divinely inspired. Umar said to me; Come! SahihMuslim-017-001-18428It is narrated either on the authority of Abu Huraira or that of Abu Saeed Khudri. The narrator Amash has narrated this hadith with a little bit of doubt about the name of the very first narrator who was in direct contact with the Holy Prophet. He was either Abu Huraira or Abu Saeed Khudri. Both are equally reliable transmitters of the traditions. He the narrator said: During the time of Tabuk expedition; the provisions ran short and the men of the army suffered starvation; they said: Messenger of Allah; would you permit us to slay our camels? We would eat them and use their fat. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Do as you please. He the narrator said: Then Umar came there and said: Messenger of Allah; if you do that if you give your consent and the men begin to slay their camels ; the riding animals would become short. But I would suggest you to summon them along with the provisions left with them Then invoke Allah blessings on them different items of the provisions It is hoped Allah shall bless them. The Messenger of Allah replied in the affirmative. the narrator said: He called for a leather mat to be used as a table cloth and spread it out. Then he called people along with the remaining portions of their provisions. He the narrator said: Someone was coming with handful of mote; another was coming with a handful of dates; still another was coming with a portion of bread; till small quantities of these things were collected on the table cloth. He the narrator said : Then the messenger of Allah invoked blessing on them and said: Fill your utensils with these provisions. He the narrator said: They filled their vessel to the brim with them; and no one amongst the army which comprised of 30;000 persons was left even with a single empty vessel. He the narrator aid: They ate to their fill; and there was still a surplus. Upon this the Messenger of Allah ﷺ remarked: I bear testimony that there is no god but Allah and I am the messenger of Allah. SahihMuslim-017-001-19020Ubadah Bin Walid Bin Samit reported: I and my father set out in search of knowledge to a tribe of the Ansar before their death i. e. before the Companions of the Prophet left the world and I was the first to meet Abu Yasar; a Companion of Allah Messenger ﷺ and there was a young man with him who carried the record of letters with him and there was a mantle prepared by the tribe of Maafiri upon him. And his servant too had a Maafiri mantle over him. My father said to him: My uncle; I see the signs of anger or that of agony on your face. He said: Yes; such and such person; the son of so and so; of the tribe of Harami owed me a debt. I went to his family; extended salutations and said: Where is he? They said: He is not here. Then came out to me his son who was at the threshold of his youth. I said to him: Where is your father? He said: No sooner did he hear your sound than he hid himself behind my mother bedstead. I said to him: Walk out to me; for I know where you are. He came out. I said to him: What prompted you to hide yourself from me? He said: By God; whatever I would say to you would not be a lie. By Allah; I fear that I should tell a lie to you and in case of making promise with you I should break it; as you are the Companion of Allah Messenger ﷺ. The fact is that I was hard up in regard to money. I said: Do you adjure by Allah? He said: I adjure by Allah. I said: Do you adjure by Allah? He said: I adjure by Allah. I said: Do you adjure by Allah? He said: I adjure by Allah. Then he brought his promissory note and he wrote off the debt with his hand and said: Make payment when you find yourself solvent enough to pay me back; if you are not; then there is no liability upon you. These two eyes of mine saw; and he AbuI-Yasar placed his fingers upon his eyes and these two ears of mine heard and my heart retained; and he pointed towards his heart that Allah Messenger ﷺ said: He who gives time to one who is financially hard up in the payment of debt or writes off his debt; Allah will provide him His shadow. I said to him: My uncle; if you get the cloak of your servant and you give him your two clothes; or take his two clothes of Maafir and give him your cloak; then there would be one dress for you and one for him. He wiped my head and said: O Allah; bless the son of my brother. O; son of my brother; these two very eyes of mine saw and these two ears of mine listened to and this heart of mine retained this; and he pointed towards the heart that Allah Messenger ﷺ said: Feed them the servants and clothe them the servants what you wear; and if I give him the goods of the world; it is easy for me than this that he should take my virtues on the Day of Resurrection. We went on till we came to Jabir Bin Abdullah in the Masjid and he was busy in observing prayer in one cloth which he had joined at its opposite ends. I made my way through the people till I sat between him and the Qibla and I said: May Allah have mercy upon you. Do you observe prayer with one cloth on your body whereas your mantle is lying at your side? He pointed me with his hand towards my breast just like this and he separated his fingers and bent them in the shape of a bow. And he said : I thought that a fool like you should come to me so that he should see me as I do and he should then also do like it. Allah Messenger ﷺ came to us in this very Masjid and he had in his hand the twig of the palm-tree and he saw mucus towards the Qibla of the Masjid and he erased it with the help of the twig. He then came to us and said: Who amongst you likes that Allah should turn His face away from him? We were afraid. He then again said: Who amongst you likes that Allah should turn His face away from him? We were afraid. He again said: Who amongst you likes that Allah should turn His face away from him? We said: Allah Messenger; none of us likes it. And he said: If one amongst you stands for prayer; Allah; the Exalted and Glorious; is before him he should not spit in front of him; or on his right side; but should spit on his left side beneath his left foot and if he is impelled to do so all of a sudden in spite of himself he should then spit in his cloth and fold it in some part of it. and he further said: Bring some sweet-smelling thing. A young man who belonged to our tribe stood up; went and brought scent in his palm. Allah Messenger ﷺ took that and applied it to the end of that twig and then touched the place where there had been mucus. Jabir said: This is why you should apply scent to your Masjids. It is reported on the same authority: We set out along with Allah Messenger ﷺ on an expedition of Batn Buwat. He the Holy Prophet was in search of AlMajdi Bin Amr AlJuhani. We had so meagre equipment that five. six or seven of us had one camel to ride and so we mounted it turn by turn. Once there wan. the turn of an Ansari to ride upon the camel. He made it kneel down to ride over it and after having. mounted it ; he tried to raise it up but it hesitated. So he said. May there be curse of Allah upon you! Thereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said: Who is there to curse his camel? He said: Allah Messenger; it is I. Thereupon he said: Get down from the camel and let us not have in our company the cursed one. Dont curse your own selves; nor your children. nor your belongings. There is the possibility that your curse may synchronies with the time when Allah is about to confer upon you what you demand and thus your prayer may be readily responded. It is reported on the same authority: We set out on an expedition along with Allah Messenger ﷺ until it was evening; and we had been near a. water reservoir of Arabia. Allah Messenger ﷺ said: Who would be the person who would go ahead and set right the reservoir and drink water himself and serve us with it? Jabir said: I stood up and said: Allah Messenger; it is I who am ready to do that. Thereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said: Who is the person to accompany Jabir? And then Jabbar Bin Sakhr stood up. So we went to that well and poured in that tank a bucket or two of water and plastered it with clay and then began to fill it with water until it was filled to the brim. Allah Messenger ﷺ was the first who appeared before us; and he said: Do you both permit me to drink water out of it? We said: Yea; Allah Messenger. He led his camel to drink water and it drank. He then pulled its rein and it stretched its legs and began to urinate. He then took it Aasi de and made it kneel down at another place and then came to the tank and performed ablution. I then got up and performed ablution like the ablution of Allah Messenger ﷺ ; and Jabbar Bin Sakhr went in order to relieve himself and Allah Messenger ﷺ got up to observe prayer and there was a mantle over me. I tried to invert its ends but it was too short to cover my body easily. It had its borders. I then inverted it the mantle and drew its opposite ends and then tied them at my neck. I then came and stood upon the left side of Allah Messenger ﷺ. He caught hold of me and made me go round behind him; until he made me stand on his right side. Then Jabbar Bin Sakhr came. He performed ablution and then came and stood on the left side of Allah Messenger ﷺ. Then Allah Messenger ﷺ caught hold of our hands together; pushed us back and made us stand behind him. Then Allah Messenger ﷺ began to look upon me with darting looks; but I did not perceive that. After that I became aware of it and he pointed with the gesture of his hand that I should wrap my loin-cloth. When Allah Messenger ﷺ had finished the prayer; he said: Jabir! I said: Allah Messenger; at thy beck and call. He said: When the cloth around you is inadequate; then tie the opposite ends but when it is small; tie it over the lower body. Jabir reported: We set out on an expedition with Allah Messenger ﷺ and the only means of sustenance for every person amongst us was only one date for a day and we used to chew it. And we struck the leaves with the help of our bow and ate them until the sides of our mouths were injured. It so happened one day that a person was overlooked and not given a date. We carried that person and bore witness to the fact that he had not been given that date so he was offered that and he got up and received that. Jabir reported: We set out on an expedition along with Allah Messenger ﷺ until we got down at a spacious valley and Allah Messenger ﷺ went to relieve himself. I followed him with a bucket full of water and Allah Messenger ﷺ looked about and he found no privacy but two trees at the end of the valley and Allah Messenger may. ﷺ went to one of them and took hold of one of its twigs and said: Be thou under my control by the permission of Allah; and so it came under his control like the camel who has its nosestring in the hand of its rider; and then he came to the second tree and took hold of a twig and said: Be thou under my control with the permission of Allah; and it came under his control; and when he came in the middle of the two trees he joined together the two twigs and said: join with the permission of Allah. Jabir said: I was afraid lest Allah Messenger ﷺ should be aware of my nearness and go still farther. And Muhammad Bin Abbad has used the word faitabd and I began to talk to myself. And as I saw; I suddenly found Allah Messenger ﷺ before me and the two trees were separated and each one of them was standing at its place. I saw Allah Messenger ﷺ standing for a short time; nodding his head towards right and left. Ismail pointed towards the right and left with the help of his head in order to demonstrate how the Prophet had pointed. Then he the Holy Prophet came to me and said: Jabir did you see my place where I was standing? I said: Allah Messenger; yes. He then said: Then you should go to those two trees and cut a twig from each of them and go to that place with them where I was standing and stand there where I was standing and place a twig on the right and a twig on the left. Jabir said: I set out and took hold of a stone and broke it and sharpened it and then I came to those trees and cut a twig from each one of them. I then came dragging them until I stood at the place where Allah Messenger ﷺ had been standing and placed a twig on the right and a twig on the left. Then I met him and said: Allah Messenger; I have done that; but kindly explain to me the reason for it. Thereupon he said: I passed by two graves the occupants of which had been undergoing torment. I liked to make intercession for them so that the might be relieved of this torment y as long as these twigs remain fresh. Jabir said: We came back to the camp of the army and Allah Messenger ﷺ said: Jabir; call people for per- forming Ablution. I cried: Come and perform Ablution; come and perform Ablution; come and perform Ablution. I said: Allah Messenger; there is not even a drop of water in the army camp; and there. was a person who used to cool the water for Allah Messenger ﷺ in the old water-skin which kept hanging by the twig. He asked me to go to such and such Ansari and ask him to see if there was any water in that skin. I went to him and cast a glance in it but did not find anything but a drop in the mouth of that water-skin and if I were to draw that; the water-skins;. dried part would suck it up. I came to Allah Messenger ﷺ and said: Allah Messenger; I have not found anything in it but a drop of water in the mouth of the water-skin and now if I were to draw that; it would be absorbed. He said: Go and bring that to me. I brought that to him. He took hold of it -and began to utter something which I could not understand and then pressed it with his hand and gave that to me and said: Jabir; announce for the tub to be brought. So I announced that the tub of the army be brought. It was brought accordingly and I placed it before him the Holy Prophet. Thereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ placed his hands in the tub like this: with his fingers stretched out; and then he placed his fingers at the bottom of the tub and said: Jabir; take it that waters-skin and pour water over me; by reciting Bismillah; and I poured water and I said: Bismillah; and found water sprouting out between the fingers of Allah Messenger ﷺ. Then that tub gushed forth until it was filled up and the Messenger ﷺ said: Jabir; make an announcement to the effect: He who needs water should take that. Jabir said: The people came and got water until they were all satiated. I said: Is there anyone left who wants to get it? And Allah Messenger ﷺ then lifted up his hand from that tub and it was still full. Then the people made a complaint to Allah Messenger ﷺ about hunger and he said: May Allah provide you food! We came to the bank of the ocean and the ocean was tossing and it threw out a big animal and we lit fire and cooked it and took it until we had eaten to our heart content. O My servants; even if the first amongst you and the last amongst you and even the whole of human race of yours; and that of jinns even; become equal in God-conscious like the heart of a single person amongst you; nothing would add to My Power. O My servants; even if the first amongst you and the last amongst you and the whole human race of yours and that of the Jinns too in unison become the most wicked all beating like the heart of a single person; it would cause no loss to My Power. O My servants; even if the first amongst you and the last amongst you and the whole human race of yours and that of jinns also all stand in one plain ground and you ask Me and I confer upon every person what he asks for; it would not. in any way; cause any loss to Me even less than that which is caused to the ocean by dipping the needle in it. My servants; these for you I shall reward you for thern; so he who deeds of yours which I am recording finds good should praise Allah and he who does not find that should not blame anyone but his ownself. Moses raced after it saying: My garment; stone; until some of the people of Banu Israil looked at the private parts of Moses; and they said: By Allah; there is no trouble with Moses. The stone stopped after he Moses had been seen. He took hold of his garments and struck the stone. I went back to Asma and informed her. whereupon she said: Here is the cloak of Allah Messenger ﷺ. and she brought out to me that cloak made of Persian cloth with a hem of brocade; and its sleeves bordered with brocade and said: This wall Allah Messenger cloak with Aisha until she died; and when she died. I got possession of it. Then the audience began to vie with one another in giving charity. Some donated a dinar; others a dirham; still others clothes; some donated a sa of wheat; some a sa of dates; till he the Holy Prophet said: Bring even if it is half a date. Then a person from among the Ansar came there with a money bag which his hands could scarcely lift; in fact; they could not lift. Then the people followed continuously; till I saw two heaps of eatables and clothes; and I saw the face of the Messenger ﷺ glistening; like gold on account of joy. SahihMuslim-017-001-22716Yala Bin Umaya reported on the authority of his father Allah be pleased with them that a person came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as he was at Jirana and he the person had been putting on a cloak which was perfumed; or he the narrator said: There was a trace of yellowness on it. He said to the Holy Prophet : What do you command me to do during my Umra? It was at this juncture that the revelation came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he was covered with a cloth; and Yala said: Would that I see revelation coming to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He Hadrat Umar said: Would it please you to see the Messenger of Allah ﷺ receiving the revelations Umar lifted a corner of the cloth and I looked at him and he was emitting a sound of snorting. He the narrator said: I thought it was the sound of a camel. When he was relieved of this he said: Where is he who asked about Umra? Ibn Abbas said A pilgrim in the sacred state while wearing ihram can wash his head. AlMiswar said A pilgrim in the sacred state wearing ihram cannot wash his head. Abdullah Bin Abbas then sent him Abdullah Bin Hunain to Abu Ayoub AlAnsari. He found him taking a bath between two woods erected at the edge of the well and he was hiding himself with a cloth curtain. He the narrator said I saluted him. He asked Who is this? I said I am Abdullah Bin Hunain. Abdullah Bin Abbas has sent me to you asking you how the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ used to wash his head while he was wearing ihram. Abu Ayoub then put his hand on the cloth and removed it till his head appeared to me. He then said to a person who was pouring water on him: Pour water. He poured water on his head and Abu Ayoub moved his head with his hands. He carried his hands forward and backward. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sat down and we also sat down around him as if birds were over our heads. He had in his hand a stick with which he was scratching the ground. He then raised his head and said: Seek refuge with Allah from the punishment in the grave. He said it twice or thrice. The version of Jabir adds here: He hears the beat of their sandals when they go back; and at that moment he is asked: O so and so! Who is your Lord; what is your religion; and who is your Prophet? Hannad version says: Two angels will come to him; make him sit up and ask him: Who is your Lord? He will reply: My Lord is Allah. They will ask him: What is your religion? He will reply: My religion is Islam. They will ask him: What is your opinion about the man who was sent on a mission among you? He will reply: He is the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. They will ask: Who made you aware of this? He will reply: I read Allah Book; believed in it; and considered it true; which is verified by Allah words: Allah Book; believed in it; and considered it true; which is verified by Allah words: Allah establishes those who believe with the word that stands firm in this world and the next. The agreed version reads: Then a crier will call from Heaven: My servant has spoken the truth; so spread a bed for him from Paradise; clothe him from Paradise; and open a door for him into Paradise. So some of its air and perfume will come to him; and a space will be made for him as far as the eye can see. He also mentioned the death of the infidel; saying: His spirit will be restored to his body; two angels will come to him; make him sit up and ask him: Who is your Lord? He will reply: Alas; alas! I do not know. They will ask him: What is your religion? He will reply: Alas; alas! I do not know. They will ask: Who was the man who was sent on a mission among you? He will reply: Alas; alas! I do not know. Then a crier will call from Heaven: He has lied; so spread a bed for him from Hell; clothe him from Hell; and open for him a door into Hell. Then some of its heat and pestilential wind will come to him; and his grave will be compressed; so that his ribs will be crushed together. Jabir version adds: One who is blind and dumb will then be placed in charge of him; having a sledge-hammer such that if a mountain were struck with it; it would become dust. He will give him a blow with it which will be heard by everything between the east and the west except by men and jinn; and he will become dust. The people were poor and used to wear woolen clothes; and would carry loads on their backs. Their Masjid was small and its rood was lowered down. It was a sort of trellis of vine. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ once came out on a hot day and the people perspired profusely in the woolen clothes so much so that foul smell emitted from them and it caused trouble to each other. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ found the foul smell; he said: O people; when this day Friday comes; you should take bath and every one should anoint the best oil and perfume one has. Ibn Abbas then said: Then Allah; the Exalted; provided wealth to the people and they wore clothes other than the woolen; and were spared from work; and their Masjid became vast. A woman from the Quraysh asked her about praying with the clothes which a woman wore while she menstruated. Umm Salamah said: We would menstruate in the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Then each one of us refrained from prayer during menstrual period. When she was purified; she would look at the clothe in which she menstruated. If it were smeared with blood; we would wash it and pray with it; if there were nothing in it; we would leave it and that would not prevent us from praying with it the same clothe. As regards the woman who had plaited hair - sometimes each of us had plaited hair - when she washed; she would not undo the hair. She would instead pour three handfuls of water upon her head. When she felt moisture in the roots of her hair; she would rub them. He does not guarantee it and in travelling pays out of the capital for food and clothes and what he makes good use of; according to the amount of capital. That is; when he travels to do the work and the capital can support it. If he remains with his people; he does not have expenses or clothing from the capital. Malik said; There is no harm in the two parties in a qirad helping each other by way of a favour when it is acceptable to them both. Malik said; There is no harm in the investor of the capital buying some of the goods from the agent in the qirad if that is acceptable and without conditions. Malik spoke about an investor making a qirad loan to a man and his slave; to be used by both. He said; That is permitted; and there is no harm in it because the profit is property for his slave; and the profit is not for the master until he takes it from him. MuwataMalik-017-001-35007Yahya said that Malik spoke about an investor who made a qirad loan to a man. He said; When the investment is large; the travelling expenses of the agent are taken from it. He can use it to eat and clothe himself in an acceptable fashion according to the size of the investment. If it saves him trouble; he can take a wage from some of the capital; if it is large; and he cannot support himself. There are certain jobs which an agent or his like are not responsible for; amongst them are collecting debts; transporting the goods; loading up and so forth. He can hire from the capital someone to do that for him. The agent should not spend from the capital nor clothe himself from it while he resides with his family. It is only permitted for him to have expenses when he travels for the investment. The expenses are taken from the capital. If he is only trading with the property in the city in which he resides; he has no expenses from the capital and no clothing. Malik spoke about an investor who paid qirad money to a man; and the agent went out with it and with his own capital. MuwataMalik-017-001-35103Yahya related to me from Malik from Yahya Ibn Said that AlQasim Ibn Muhammad said; I heard Abdullah Ibn Abbas say; when a man asked him about a man making an advance on some garments and then wanting to sell them back before taking possession of them; That is silver for silver; and he disapproved of it. Malik said; Our opinion is - and Allah knows best that was because he wanted to sell them to the person from whom he had bought them for more than the price for which he bought them. Had he sold them to some one other than the person from whom he had purchased them; there would not have been any harm in it. Malik said; The generally agreed on way of doing things among us concerning making an advance for slaves; cattle or goods is that when all of what is to be sold is described and an advance is made for them for a date; and the date falls due; the buyer does not sell any of that to the person from whom he has purchased it for more than the price which he advanced for it before he has taken full possession of what he has advanced for. It is usury if he does. If the buyer gives the seller dinars or dirhams and he profits with them; then; when the goods come to the buyer and he does not take them into his possession but sells them back to their owner for more than what he advanced for them; the outcome is that what he has advanced has returned to him and has been increased for him. Malik said; If someone advances gold or silver for described animals or goods which are to be delivered before a named date; and the date arrives; or it is before or after the date; there is no harm in the buyer selling those goods to the seller; for other goods; to be taken immediately and not delayed; no matter how extensive the amount of those goods is; except in the case of food because it is not halal to sell it before he has full possession of it. The buyer can sell those goods to some one other than the person from whom he purchased them for gold or silver or any goods. He takes possession of it and does not defer it because if he defers it; that is ugly and there enters into the transaction what is disapproved of: delay for delay. Delay for delay is to sell a debt against one man for a debt against another man. Malik said; If someone advances for goods to be delivered after a time; and those goods are neither something to be eaten nor drunk; he can sell them to whomever he likes for cash or goods; before he takes delivery of them; to some one other than the person from whom he purchased them. He must not sell them to the person from whom he bought them except in exchange for goods which he takes possession of immediately and does not defer. Malik said; If the delivery date for the goods has not arrived; there is no harm in selling them to the original owner for goods which are clearly different and which he takes immediate possession of and does not defer. Malik spoke about the case of a man who advanced dinars or dirhams for four specified pieces of cloth to be delivered before a specified time and when the term fell due; he demanded delivery from the seller and the seller did not have them. He found that the seller had cloth but inferior quality; and the seller said that he would give him eight of those cloths. Malik said; There is no harm in that if he takes the cloths which he offers him before they separate. It is not good if delayed terms enter into the transaction. MuwataMalik-017-001-35400Yahya related to me from Malik from Suhayl Ibn Abi Salih from his father from Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; Whoever makes an oath and then sees that something else would be better than it; should do kaffara for his oath and do what is better. Yahya said that he heard Malik say; Anyone who says that he has a vow but does not mention the name of Allah; is still obliged to make the kaffara for an oath if he breaks it. Malik said; Emphasis is when a man swears one thing several times; repeating the oath in his speech time after time. For instance; the statement; By Allah; I will not decrease it from such-and-such; sworn three times or more. The kaffara of that is like the kaffara of one oath. If a man swears; I will not eat this food or wear these clothes or enter this house; that is all in one oath; and he is only obliged to do one kaffara. It is the same for a man who says to his wife; You are divorced if I clothe you in this garment or let you go to the Masjid; and it is one entire statement in the normal pattern of speech. If he breaks any of that oath; divorce is necessary; and there is no breaking of oath after that in whatever he does. There is only one oath to be broken in that. Malik said; What we do about a woman who makes a vow without her husband permission is that she is allowed to do so and she must fulfill it; if it only concerns her own person and will not harm her husband. Umar Ibn AlKhattab dismounted for a rest late at night on a certain road near a certain oasis. Umar had a wet dream when it was almost dawn and there was no water among the riding party. He rode until he came to some water and then he began to wash off what he saw of the semen until it had gone. Amr Ibn AlAs said to him; It is morning and there are clothes with us; so allow your garment to be washed. Umar Ibn AlKhattab said to him; I am surprised at you; Amr Ibn AlAs! Even if you could find clothes; would everybody be able to find them? By Allah; if I were to do it; it would become a sunna. No; I wash what I see; and I sprinkle with water what I do not see. Malik spoke about a man who found traces of a wet dream on his clothes and did not know when it had occurred and did not remember anything he had seen in his sleep. He said; Let the intention of his ghusl be from the time when he last slept; and if he has prayed since that last sleep he should repeat it. This is because often a man has a wet dream and sees nothing; and often he sees something but does not have an emission. But; if he finds liquid on his garment he must do ghusl.
