The people asked; What will their signs be? He said; Their sign will be the habit of shaving of their beards and their heads. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1343 | Narrated Sufyan: I said to Amr; O Abu Muhammad! Did you hear Jabir Bin Abdullah saying; A man carrying arrows passed through the Masjid and Allah Messenger ﷺ said to him; Hold the arrows by their heads! Amr replied; Yes. | The Chapter on Dress And Shields in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Whosoever takes up arms against us is not from us in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1527 | Narrated Abdullah Bin Amr Bin Yasar: That they visited Abu Saeed AlKhudri and asked him about AlHarauriya; a special unorthodox religious sect; Did you hear the Prophet ﷺ saying anything about them? Abu Saeed said; I do not know what AlHarauriya is; but I heard the Prophet ﷺ saying; There will appear in this nation-- he did not say: From this nation -- a group of people so pious apparently that you will consider your prayers inferior to their prayers; but they will recite the Quran; the teachings of which will not go beyond their throats and will go out of their religion as an arrow darts through the game; whereupon the archer may look at his arrow; its Nasl at its Risaf and its Fuqa to see whether it is blood-stained or not i.e. they will have not even a trace of Islam in them. | The Chapter on Enemies And Groups And Bowing in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Killing AlKhawarij and AlMulhidun in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1529 | Narrated Abu Said: While the Prophet ﷺ was distributing something; Abdullah Bin Dhi AlKhawaisira AlTamimi came and said; Be just; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! The Prophet ﷺ said; Woe to you ! Who would be just if I were not? Umar Bin AlKhattab said; Allow me to cut off his neck ! The Prophet ﷺ said; Leave him; for he has companions; and if you compare your prayers with their prayers and your fasting with theirs; you will look down upon your prayers and fasting; in comparison to theirs. Yet they will go out of the religion as an arrow darts through the game body in which case; if the Qudhadh of the arrow is examined; nothing will be found on it; and when its Nasl is examined; nothing will be found on it; and then its Nadiyi is examined; nothing will be found on it. The arrow has been too fast to be smeared by dung and blood. The sign by which these people will be recognized will be a man whose one hand or breast will be like the breast of a woman or like a moving piece of flesh. These people will appear when there will be differences among the people Muslims. Abu Saeed added: I testify that I heard this from the Prophet ﷺ and also testify that Ali killed those people while I was with him. The man with the description given by the Prophet ﷺ was brought to Ali. The following Verses were revealed in connection with that very person i.e.; Abdullah Bin Dhi AlKhawaisira AlTarnimi : And among them are men who accuse you O Muhammad in the matter of the distribution of the alms. 9.58 | The Chapter on Good Manners And Ghira in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Whoever gave up fighting against AlKhawarij in order to create intimacy in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2268 | Narrated Anas: Um the mother of Haritha came to Allah Messenger ﷺ after Haritha had been martyred on the Day of the battle of Badr by an arrow thrown by an unknown person. She said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! You know the position of Haritha in my heart i.e. how dear to me he was ; so if he is in Paradise; I will not weep for him; or otherwise; you will see what I will do. The Prophet ﷺ said; Are you mad? Is there only one Paradise? There are many Paradises; and he is in the highest Paradise of Firdaus. The Prophet added; A forenoon journey or an after noon journey in Allah Cause is better than the whole world and whatever is in it; and a place equal to an arrow bow of anyone of you; or a place equal to a foot in Paradise is better than the whole world and whatever is in it; and if one of the women of Paradise looked at the earth; she would fill the whole space between them the earth and the heaven with light; and would fill whatever is in between them; with perfume; and the veil of her face is better than the whole world and whatever is in it. | The Chapter on Journeys And Travel And Camels in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The description of Paradise and the Fire in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2678 | Narrated Abu Saeed AlKhudri: While the Prophet ﷺ was distributing war booty etc. one day; Dhul Khawaisira; a man from the tribe of Bani Tamim; said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Act justly. The Prophets said; Woe to you! Who else would act justly if I did not act justly? Umar said to the Prophet ﷺ ; Allow me to chop his neck off. The Prophet said; No; for he has companions who are apparently so pious that if anyone of you compares his prayer with their prayer; he will consider his prayer inferior to theirs; and similarly his fasting inferior to theirs; but they will desert Islam go out of religion as an arrow goes through the victim body games etc. in which case if its Nasl is examined nothing will be seen thereon; and if its Nady is examined; nothing will be seen thereon; and if its Qudhadh is examined; nothing will be seen thereon; for the arrow has gone out too fast even for the excretions and blood to smear over it. Such people will come out at the time of difference among the Muslim people and the sign by which they will be recognized; will be a man whose one of the two hands will look like the breast of a woman or a lump of flesh moving loosely. Abu Saeed added; I testify that I heard that from the Prophet ﷺ and also testify that I was with Ali when Ali fought against those people. The man described by the Prophet was searched for among the killed; and was found; and he was exactly as the Prophet ﷺ had described him. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2779 | Narrated Adi Bin Hatim: The Prophet ﷺ said; If you let loose your hound after a game and mention Allah Name on sending it; and the hound catches the game and kills it; then you can eat of it. But if the hound eats of it; then you should not eat thereof; for the hound has caught it for itself. And if along with your hound; joined other hounds; and Allah Name was not mentioned at the time of their sending; and they catch an animal and kill it; you should not eat of it; for you will not know which of them has killed it. And if you have thrown an arrow at the game and then find it dead two or three days later and; it bears no mark other than the wound inflicted by your arrow; then you can eat of it. But if the game is found dead in water; then do not eat of it. | The Chapter on Games And Hunting And Hitting Game With Sharp Iron in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on If the hunter hits a game but does not catch it till two or three days in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2780 | And it has also been narrated by Adi Bin Hatim that he asked the Prophet ﷺ If a hunter throws an arrow at the game and after tracing it for two or three days he finds it dead but still bearing his arrow; can he eat of it ? The Prophet ﷺ replied; He can eat if he wishes. | The Chapter on Games And Hunting And Shooting in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on If the hunter hits a game but does not catch it till two or three days in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2797 | Narrated Rafi Bin Khadeej: that he said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! We have no knife. The Prophet ﷺ said; if the killing tool causes blood to gush out; and if Allah Name is mentioned; eat of the slaughtered animal. But do not slaughter with a nail or a tooth; for the nail is the knife of Ethiopians and a tooth is a bone. Suddenly a camel ran away and it was stopped with an arrow. The Prophet ﷺ then said; Of these camels there are some which are as wild as wild beasts; so if one of them runs away from you and you cannot catch it; treat it in this manner i.e. shoot it with an arrow. | The Chapter on Teeth And Moustach In Basic Instinct in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The instruments that cause the blood to gush out in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2837 | Narrated Rafi Bin Khadeej: I said to the Prophet; We will be facing the enemy tomorrow and we have no knives for slaughtering He said; If you slaughter the animal with anything that causes its blood to flow out; and if Allah Name is mentioned on slaughtering it; eat of it; unless the killing instrument is a tooth or nail. I will tell you why: As for the tooth; it is a bone; and as for the nail; it is the knife of Ethiopians. The quick ones among the people got the war booty while the Prophet ﷺ was behind the people. So they placed the cooking pots on the fire; but the Prophet ﷺ ordered the cooking pots to be turned upside down. Then he distributed the war booty among them; considering one camel as equal to ten sheep. Then a camel belonging to the first party of people ran away and they had no horses with them; so a man shot it with an arrow whereby Allah stopped it. The Prophet ﷺ said; Of these animals there are some which are as wild as wild beasts. So; if anyone of them runs away like this; do like this shoot it with an arrow. | The Chapter on Animal Sacrifice Knifes Nails And Tooth in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on To slaughter sheep or camels from war booty without the permission of the companions in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2838 | Narrated Rafi Bin Khadeej: While we were with the Prophet. on a journey; one of the camels ran away. A man shot it with an arrow and stopped it. The Prophet ﷺ said; Of these camels some are as wild as wild beasts; so if one of them runs away and you cannot catch it; then do like this shoot it with an arrow. I said; O Allah Apostle! Sometimes when we are in battles or on a journey we want to slaughter animals but we have no knives. He said; Listen! If you slaughter the animal with anything that causes its blood to flow out; and if Allah Name is mentioned on slaughtering it; eat of it; provided that the slaughtering instrument is not a tooth or a nail; as the tooth is a bone and the nail is the knife of Ethiopians. | The Chapter on Animal Sacrifice Knifes Nails And Tooth in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on To kill a runaway camel in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3328 | Narrated Abu Saeed AlKhudri: I heard Allah Messenger ﷺ saying; There will appear some people among you whose prayer will make you look down upon yours; and whose fasting will make you look down upon yours; but they will recite the Quran which will not exceed their throats they will not act on it and they will go out of Islam as an arrow goes out through the game whereupon the archer would examine the arrowhead but see nothing; and look at the unfeathered arrow but see nothing; and look at the arrow feathers but see nothing; and finally he suspects to find something in the lower part of the arrow. | The Chapter on Pre-Islam And Reward Of Deeds in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The sin of the person who recites the Quran to show off or to gain some worldly benefit or to feel proud etc in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3674 | Narrated Anas: On the day of the battle of Uhud; the people ran away; leaving the Prophet ﷺ ; but Abu Talha was shielding the Prophet ﷺ with his shield in front of him. Abu Talha was a strong; experienced archer who used to keep his arrow bow strong and well stretched. On that day he broke two or three arrow bows. If any man passed by carrying a quiver full of arrows; the Prophet ﷺ would say to him; Empty it in front of Abu Talha. When the Prophet ﷺ stated looking at the enemy by raising his head; Abu Talha said; O Allah Prophet! Let my parents be sacrificed for your sake! Please dont raise your head and make it visible; lest an arrow of the enemy should hit you. Let my neck and chest be wounded instead of yours. On that day I saw Aisha; the daughter of Abu Bakr and Um Sulaim both lifting their dresses up so that I was able to see the ornaments of their legs; and they were carrying the water skins of their arms to pour the water into the mouths of the thirsty people and then go back and fill them and come to pour the water into the mouths of the people again. On that day Abu Talha sword fell from his hand twice or thrice. | The Chapter on Wishes And Charity in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The virtues of Abu Talha in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3769 | The nephew of Suraqa Bin Jusham said that his father informed him that he heard Suraqa Bin Jusham saying; The messengers of the heathens of Quraish came to us declaring that they had assigned for the persons why would kill or arrest Allah Messenger ﷺ and Abu Bakr; a reward equal to their bloodmoney. While I was sitting in one of the gatherings of my tribe. Bani Mudlij; a man from them came to us and stood up while we were sitting; and said; O Suraqa! No doubt; I have just seen some people far away on the seashore; and I think they are Muhammad and his companions. Suraqa added; I too realized that it must have been they. But I said No; it is not they; but you have seen so-and-so; and so-and-so whom we saw set out. I stayed in the gathering for a while and then got up and left for my home. and ordered my slave-girl to get my horse which was behind a hillock; and keep it ready for me. Then I took my spear and left by the back door of my house dragging the lower end of the spear on the ground and keeping it low. Then I reached my horse; mounted it and made it gallop. When I approached them i.e. Muhammad and Abu Bakr ; my horse stumbled and I fell down from it; Then I stood up; got hold of my quiver and took out the divining arrows and drew lots as to whether I should harm them i.e. the Prophet ﷺ and Abu Bakr or not; and the lot which I disliked came out. But I remounted my horse and let it gallop; giving no importance to the divining arrows. When I heard the recitation of the Quran by Allah Messenger ﷺ who did not look hither and thither while Abu Bakr was doing it often; suddenly the forelegs of my horse sank into the ground up to the knees; and I fell down from it. Then I rebuked it and it got up but could hardly take out its forelegs from the ground; and when it stood up straight again; its fore-legs caused dust to rise up in the sky like smoke. Then again I drew lots with the divining arrows; and the lot which I disliked; came out. So I called upon them to feel secure. They stopped; and I remounted my horse and went to them. When I saw how I had been hampered from harming them; it came to my mind that the cause of Allah Messenger ﷺ i.e. Islam will become victorious. So I said to him; Your people have assigned a reward equal to the bloodmoney for your head. Then I told them all the plans the people of Mecca had made concerning them. Then I offered them some journey food and goods but they refused to take anything and did not ask for anything; but the Prophet ﷺ said; Do not tell others about us. Then I requested him to write for me a statement of security and peace. He ordered Amr Bin Fuhaira who wrote it for me on a parchment; and then Allah Messenger ﷺ proceeded on his way. Narrated Urwa Bin AlZubair: Allah Messenger ﷺ met AlZubair in a caravan of Muslim merchants who were returning from Sham. AlZubair provided Allah Messenger ﷺ and Abu Bakr with white clothes to wear. When the Muslims of Medina heard the news of the departure of Allah Messenger ﷺ from Mecca towards Medina ; they started going to the Harra every morning. They would wait for him till the heat of the noon forced them to return. One day; after waiting for a long while; they returned home; and when they went into their houses; a Jew climbed up the roof of one of the forts of his people to look for some thing; and he saw Allah Messenger ﷺ and his companions dressed in white clothes; emerging out of the desert mirage. The Jew could not help shouting at the top of his voice; O you Arabs! Here is your great man whom you have been waiting for! So all the Muslims rushed to their arms and received Allah Messenger ﷺ on the summit of Harra. The Prophet ﷺ turned with them to the right and alighted at the quarters of Bani Amr Bin Auf; and this was on Monday in the month of Rabi AlAwal. Abu Bakr stood up; receiving the people while Allah Messenger ﷺ sat down and kept silent. Some of the Ansar who came and had not seen Allah Messenger ﷺ before; began greeting Abu Bakr; but when the sunshine fell on Allah Messenger ﷺ and Abu Bakr came forward and shaded him with his sheet only then the people came to know Allah Messenger ﷺ. Allah Messenger ﷺ stayed with Bani Amr Bin Auf for ten nights and established the Masjid Masjid of Quba which was founded on piety. Allah Messenger ﷺ prayed in it and then mounted his camel and proceeded on; accompanied by the people till his camel knelt down at the place of the Masjid of Allah Messenger ﷺ at Medina. Some Muslims used to pray there in those days; and that place was a yard for drying dates belonging to Suhail and Sahl; the orphan boys who were under the guardianship of Asad Bin Zurara. When his camel knelt down; Allah Messenger ﷺ said; This place; Allah willing; will be our abiding place. Allah Messenger ﷺ then called the two boys and told them to suggest a price for that yard so that he might take it as a Masjid. The two boys said; No; but we will give it as a gift; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Allah Messenger ﷺ then built a Masjid there. The Prophet ﷺ himself started carrying unburnt bricks for its building and while doing so; he was saying This load is better than the load of Khaibar; for it is more pious in the Sight of Allah and purer and better rewardable. He was also saying; O Allah! The actual reward is the reward in the Hereafter; so bestow Your Mercy on the Ansar and the Emigrants. Thus the Prophet ﷺ recited by way of proverb the poem of some Muslim poet whose name is unknown to me. Ibn Shibab said; In the Hadiths it does not occur that Allah Apostle recited a complete poetic verse other than this one. | The Chapter on Horses And Property in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The emigration of the Prophet to AlMadina in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3957 | Narrated Abu Saeed AlKhudri: While we were with Allah Messenger ﷺ who was distributing i.e. some property ; there came Dhu AlKhuwaisira; a man from the tribe of Bani Tamim and said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Do Justice. The Prophet said; Woe to you! Who could do justice if I did not? I would be a desperate loser if I did not do justice. Umar said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Allow me to chop his head off. The Prophet ﷺ said; Leave him; for he has companions who pray and fast in such a way that you will consider your fasting negligible in comparison to theirs. They recite Quran but it does not go beyond their throats i.e. they do not act on it and they will desert Islam as an arrow goes through a victim body; so that the hunter; on looking at the arrow blade; would see nothing on it; he would look at its Risaf and see nothing: he would look at its Na;di and see nothing; and he would look at its Qudhadh 1 and see nothing neither meat nor blood ; for the arrow has been too fast even for the blood and excretions to smear. The sign by which they will be recognized is that among them there will be a black man; one of whose arms will resemble a woman breast or a lump of meat moving loosely. Those people will appear when there will be differences amongst the people. I testify that I heard this narration from Allah Messenger ﷺ and I testify that Ali Bin Abi Talib fought with such people; and I was in his company. He ordered that the man described by the Prophet ﷺ should be looked for. The man was brought and I looked at him and noticed that he looked exactly as the Prophet ﷺ had described him. | The Chapter on Almaghazi And Hunain in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The signs of Prophethood in Islam in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-4154 | Narrated Ibn Abbas: When the Prophet ﷺ saw pictures in the Kaba; he did not enter it till he ordered them to be erased. When he saw the pictures of Abraham and Ishmael carrying the arrows of divination; he said; May Allah curse them i.e. the Quraish ! By Allah; neither Abraham nor Ishmael practiced divination by arrows. | The Chapter on Allah And Prophets Day Of Ressuraction in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The Statement of Allah Taala And Allah did take Ibrahim as a Khalil in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-4174 | Narrated Salama Bin AlAkwa: The Prophet ﷺ passed by some persons of the tribe of Aslam practicing archery i.e. the throwing of arrows Allah Messenger ﷺ said; O offspring of Ishmael! Practice archery i.e. arrow throwing as your father was a great archer i.e. arrow-thrower. I am with on the side of the son of so-and-so-. Hearing that; one of the two teams stopped throwing. Allah Messenger ﷺ asked them; Why are you not throwing? They replied; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! How shall we throw when you are with the opposite team? He said; Throw; for I am with you all. | The Chapter on Throwing And Satan Knots in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The Statement of Allah Taala And mention in the Book Ismail in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-4556 | Narrated Abu Mousa: Abu Amir was hit with an arrow in his knee; so I went to him and he asked me to remove the arrow. Forgive Ubaid Abu Amir. | The Chapter on Peace And Evil in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Removing the AlRow from the body in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-4573 | Narrated Anas Bin Malik: Abu Talha and the Prophet ﷺ used to shield themselves with one shield. Abu Talha was a good archer; and when he threw his arrows the Prophet ﷺ would look at the target of his arrows. | The Chapter on Dress And Shields in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The shield and shielding oneself with the shield of his companion in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-4600 | Narrated Abu Ishaq: A man asked AlBara; O Abu Umara! Did you all flee on the day of the battle of Hunain? He replied; No; by Allah! Allah Messenger ﷺ did not flee; but his young unarmed companions passed by the archers of the tribe of Hawazin and Bani Nasr whose arrows hardly missed a target; and they threw arrows at them hardly missing a shot. So the Muslims retreated towards the Prophet ﷺ while he was riding his white mule which was being led by his cousin Abu Sufyan Bin AlHarith Bin Abdul Muttalib. The Prophet ﷺ dismounted and invoked Allah for victory; then he said; I am the Prophet; without a lie; I am the son of Abdul Muttalib; and then he arranged his companions in rows. | The Chapter on Almaghazi And The Companions in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Whoever AlRanged his companions at the time of defeat and got down from his riding animal and requested Allah for help in Sahih AlBukhari

SahihMuslim-017-001-18036 | It has been narrated on the authority of Salama Bin AlAkwa who said: We fought against the Fazara; and Abu Bakr was the commander over us. He had been appointed by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. When we were only at an hour distance from the water of the enemy; Abu Bakr ordered us to attack. We made a halt during the last part of the night to rest and then we attacked from all sides and reached their watering-place where a battle was fought. Some of the enemies were killed and some were taken prisoners. I saw a group of persons that consisted of women and children. I was afraid lest they should reach the mountain before me; so I shot an arrow between them and the mountain. When they saw the arrow; they stopped. So I brought them; driving them along. Among them was a woman from Banu Fazara. She was wearing a leather coat. With her was her daughter who was one of the prettiest girls in Arabia. I drove them along until I brought them to Abu Bakr who bestowed that girl upon me as a prize. So we arrived in Medina. I had not yet disrobed her when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ met me in the street and said: Give me that girl; O Salama. I said: Messenger of Allah; she has fascinated me. I had not yet disrobed her. When on the next day the Messenger of Allah ﷺ again met me in the street; he said: O Salama; give me that girl; may God bless your father. I said: She is for you; Messenger of Allah! By Allah. I have not yet disrobed her. SahihMuslim-017-001-18079 | It has been narratedon the authority of Abu Ishaq who said: A man asked Bara Bin Azib : Did you run away on the Day of Hunain. O; Abu Umira? He said: No; by Allah; The Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not turn his back; what actually happened was that some young men from among his companions; who were hasty and who were either without any arms or did not have abundant arms; advanced and met a party of archers who were so good shots that their arrows never missed the mark. This party of archers belonged to Banu Hawazin and Banu Nadir. They shot at the advancing young men and their arrows were not likely to miss their targets. So these young men turned to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was riding on his white mule and Abu Sufyan Bin AlHarith Bin Abd AlMuttalib was leading him. At this he got down from his mule; invoked God help; and called out: I am the Prophet. This is no untruth. I am the son of Abd AlMuttalib. My neck is before your neck. The narrator said: I saw Aisha bint Abu Bakr and Umm Sulaim. Both of them had tucked up their garments; so I could see the anklets on their feet. SahihMuslim-017-001-19019 | Suhaib reported that Allah Messenger ﷺ thus said: There lived a king before you and he had a court magician. As he the magician grew old; he said to the king: I have grown old; send some young boy to me so that I should teach him magic. He the king sent to him a young man so that he should train him in magic. And on his way to the magician he the young man found a monk sitting there. He the young man listened to his the monks talk and was impressed by it. It became his habit that on his way to the magician he met the monk and set there and he came to the magician late. He the magician beat him because of delay. He made a complaint of that to the monk and he said to him: When you feel afraid of the magician; say: Members of my family had detained me. And when you feel afraid of your family you should say: The magician had detained me. It so happened that there came a huge beast of prey and it blocked the way of the people; and he the young boy said: I will come to know today whether the magician is superior or the monk is superior. He picked up a stone and said: O Allah; if the affair of the monk is dearer to Thee than the affair of the magician; cause death to this animal so that the people should be able to move about freely. He threw that stone towards it and killed it and the people began to move about on the path freely. He the young man then came to that monk and Informed him and the monk said: Sonny; today you are superior to me. Your affair has come to a stage where I find that you would be soon put to a trial; and in case you are put to a trial dont give my clue. That young man began to treat the blind and those suffering from leprosy and he in fact began to cure people from all kinds of illness. When a companion of the king who had gone blind heard about him; he came to him with numerous gifts and said: If you cure me all these things collected together here would be yours. Be said: I myself do not cure anyone. It is Allah Who cures and if you affirm faith in Allah; I shall also supplicate Allah to cure you. He affirmed his faith in Allah and Allah cured him and he came to the king and sat by his side as he used to sit before. The king said to him: Who restored your eyesight? He said: My Lord. Thereupon he said: It means that your Lord is One besides me. He said: My Lord and your Lord is Allah; so he the king took hold of him and tormented him till he gave a clue of that boy. The young man was thus summoned and the king said to him: O boy; it has been conveyed to me that you have become so much proficient in your magic that you cure the blind and those suffering from leprosy and you do such and such things. Thereupon he said: I do not cure anyone; it is Allah Who cures; and he the king took hold of him and began to torment him. So he gave a clue of the monk. The monk was thus summoned and it was said to him: You should turn back from your religion. He; however; refused to do so. He ordered for a saw to be brought and when it was done he the king placed it in the middle of his head and tore it into parts till a part fell down. Then the courtier of the king was brought and it was said to him: Turn back from your religion. Arid he refused to do so; and the saw was placed in the midst of his head and it was torn till a part fell down. Then that young boy was brought and it was said to him: Turn back from your religion. He refused to do so and he was handed over to a group of his courtiers. And he said to them: Take him to such and such mountain; make him climb up that mountain and when you reach its top ask him to renounce his faith but if he refuses to do so; then throw him down the mountain. So they took him and made him climb up the mountain and he said: O Allah; save me from them in any way Thou likest and the mountain began to quake and they all fell down and that person came walking to the king. The king said to him: What has happened to your companions? He said: Allah has saved me from them. He again handed him to some of his courtiers and said: Take him and carry him in a small boat and when you reach the middle of the ocean ask him to renounce his religion; but if he does not renounce his religion throw him into the water. So they took him and he said: O Allah; save me from them and what they want to do. It was quite soon that the boat turned over and they were drowned and he came walking to the king; and the king said to him: What has happened to your companions? He said: Allah has saved me from them; and he said to the king: You cannot kill me until you do what I ask you to do. And he said: What is that? He said: You should gather people in a plain and hang me by the trunk of a tree. Then take hold of an arrow from the quiver and say: In the name of Allah; the Lord of the young boy; then shoot an arrow and if you do that then you would be able to kill me. So he the king called the people in an open plain and tied him the boy to the trunk of a tree; then he took hold of an arrow from his quiver and then placed the arrow in the bow and then said: In the name of Allah; the Lord of the young boy; he then shot an arrow and it bit his temple. He the boy placed his hands upon the temple where the arrow had bit him and he died and the people said: We affirm our faith in the Lord of this young man; we affirm our faith in the Lord of this young man; we affirm our faith in the Lord of this young man. The courtiers came to the king and it was said to him: Do you see that Allah has actually done what you aimed at averting. They the people have affirmed their faith in the Lord. He the king commanded ditches to be dug at important points in the path. When these ditches were dug; and the fire was lit in them it was said to the people : He who would not turn back from his boys religion would be thrown in the fire or it would be said to them to jump in that. The people courted death but did not renounce religion till a woman came with her child and she felt hesitant in jumping into the fire and the child said to her: 0 mother; endure this ordeal for it is the Truth. | The Chapter on Alansar And Killing in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 17 in Sahih Muslim

You would be unsuccessful and incurring a loss; if I do not do justice. Upon this Umar Bin AlKhattab Allah be pleased with him said: Messenger of Allah; permit me to strike off his neck. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Leave him; for he has friends who would outwardly look to be so religious and pious that everyone among you would consider his prayer insignificant as compared with their prayer; and his fast as compared with their fasts. They would recite the Quran but it would not go beyond their collar-bones. They would pass through the teachings of Islam so hurriedly just as the arrow passes through the prey. He would look at its Iron head; but would not find anything ticking there. He would then see at the lowest end; but would not find anything sticking there. He said: Messenger of Allah; I have trained dogs; so tell me your opinion about eating the animal they hunt. The Prophet ﷺ said: If you have trained dogs; then eat what they catch for you. He asked: Whether it is slaughtered or not? He replied: Yes. He asked: Does it apply even if it eats any of it? He replied: Even if it eats any of it. He again asked: Messenger of Allah; tell me your opinion about my bow i.e. the game hunted by arrow. He said: Eat what your bow returns to you; whether it is slaughtered or not. He asked: If it goes out of my sight? He replied: Even if it goes out of your sight; provided it has no stench; or you find a mark on it other than the mark of your arrow. He asked: Tell me about the use of the vessels of the Magians when we are forced to use them. He replied: Wash them and eat in them. | The Chapter on Games And Hunting And Training in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Regarding Hunting in Sunan Abu Dawoud
SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-28989 | Narrated Abu Thalabah AlKhushani: The Prophet ﷺ said: When you shoot your arrow and the animal goes out of your sight and you come three days later on it; and in it there is your arrow; then eat provided it has not stench. | The Chapter on Day Of Friday in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on On Following The Game in Sunan Abu Dawoud
SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-29560 | Narrated Uqbah Ibn Amir: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: Allah; Most High; will cause three persons to enter Paradise for one arrow: the maker when he has a good motive in making it; the one who shoots it; and the one who hands it; so shoot and ride; but your shooting is dearer to me than your riding. Everything with which a man amuses himself is vain except three things : a man training of his horse; his playing with his wife; and his shooting with his bow and arrow. If anyone abandons archery after becoming an adept through distaste for it; it is a blessing he has abandoned; or he said: for which he has been ungrateful. | The Chapter on Games And Hunting And Shooting in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Regarding Shooting in Sunan Abu Dawoud

MuwataMalik-017-001-34816 | Malik related to me from Rabia Ibn Abi Abdulrahman that a man in the time of Aban Ibn Uthman amirate freed all of his slaves and did not have other property than them. Aban Ibn Uthman took charge of the slaves and they were divided into three groups. Then he drew lots on the basis that which ever group drew the dead man arrow would be free. The arrow fell to one of the thirds; and that third was freed. | The Chapter on Slave As A Property in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Speech in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35169 | Yahya related to me from Malik that he had heard the people of knowledge say that when a man hit game and something else might have contributed to death; like water or an untrained dog; that game was not to be eaten unless it was beyond doubt that it was the arrow of the hunter that had killed it by reaching a vital organ; so that it did not have any life after that. Yahya said that he heard Malik say that there was no harm in eating game when you did not see it die if you found the mark of your dog on it or your arrow in it as long as it had not remained overnight. If it had remained overnight; then it was disapproved of to eat it. | The Chapter on Games And Hunting And Hitting Game With Sharp Iron in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Hudud in Muwata Malik |
