The second one said; I shall not relate my husband news; for I fear that I may not be able to finish his story; for if I describe him; I will mention all his defects and bad traits. The third one said; My husband; the too-tall! if I describe him and he hears of that he will divorce me; and if I keep quiet; he will keep me hanging neither divorcing me nor treating me as a wife. The sixth one said; If my husband eats; he eats too much leaving the dishes empty ; and if he drinks he leaves nothing; if he sleeps he sleeps he rolls himself alone in our blankets ; and he does not insert his palm to inquire about my feelings. The seventh one said; My husband is a wrong-doer or weak and foolish. All the defects are present in him. He may injure your head or your body or may do both. The eighth one said; My husband is soft to touch like a rabbit and smells like a Zarnab a kind of good smelling grass. The ninth one said; My husband is a tall generous man wearing a long strap for carrying his sword. His ashes are abundant i.e. generous to his guests and his house is near to the people who would easily consult him. The tenth one said; My husband is Malik possessor ; and what is Malik? Malik is greater than whatever I say about him. He is beyond and above all praises which can come to my mind. Most of his camels are kept at home ready to be slaughtered for the guests and only a few are taken to the pastures. When the camels hear the sound of the lute or the tambourine they realize that they are going to be slaughtered for the guests. The eleventh one said; My husband is Abu Zar and what is Abu Zar i.e.; what should I say about him ? He has given me many ornaments and my ears are heavily loaded with them and my arms have become fat i.e.; I have become fat. And he has pleased me; and I have become so happy that I feel proud of myself. He found me with my family who were mere owners of sheep and living in poverty; and brought me to a respected family having horses and camels and threshing and purifying grain. Whatever I say; he does not rebuke or insult me. When I sleep; I sleep till late in the morning; and when I drink water or milk ; I drink my fill. The mother of Abu Zar and what may one say in praise of the mother of Abu Zar? Her saddle bags were always full of provision and her house was spacious. As for the son of Abu Zar; what may one say of the son of Abu Zar? His bed is as narrow as an unsheathed sword and an arm of a kid of four months satisfies his hunger. As for the daughter of Abu Zar; she is obedient to her father and to her mother. She has a fat well-built body and that arouses the jealousy of her husband other wife. As for the maid slave girl of Abu Zar; what may one say of the maid slavegirl of Abu Zar? She does not uncover our secrets but keeps them; and does not waste our provisions and does not leave the rubbish scattered everywhere in our house. The eleventh lady added; One day it so happened that Abu Zar went out at the time when the milk was being milked from the animals; and he saw a woman who had two sons like two leopards playing with her two breasts. On seeing her he divorced me and married her. Thereafter I married a noble man who used to ride a fast tireless horse and keep a spear in his hand. He gave me many things; and also a pair of every kind of livestock and said; Eat of this ; O Umm Dharr; and give provision to your relatives. Every person to whom his mother gives birth has two aspects of his life ; when his mother gives birth Satan strikes him but it was not the case with Mary and her son Jesus Christ. | The Chapter on Gifts And Mothers in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 6 in Sahih Muslim

SahihMuslim-017-001-19679 | Abu Huraira reported that Juraij was one who was devoted to prayer in the temple. His mother came to him. Humaid said that Abu Rafi demonstrated before us like the demonstration made by Abu Huraira to whom Allah Messenger ﷺ had demonstrated as his mother called him placing her palms upon the eyebrows and lifting her head for calling him and said: Juraij; it is your mother; so talk to her. She found him at that time absorbed in prayer; so he said to himself : O Lord; my mother is calling me whereas I am absorbed in my prayer. He opted for prayer. She his mother went back; then came again for the second time and said: O Juraij; it is your mother calling you ; so talk to me. He said: O Allah. there is my mother also and my prayer; and he opted for prayer. She said: O Allah; this Juraij is my son. I pray to talk to him but he refuses to talk to me. O Allah; dont bring death to him unless he has seen the prostitutes; and had she invoked the curse upon him from the heart of her heart he would have been involved in some turmoil. There was a shepherd living near by his temple the temple where Juraij was engaged in prayer. It so happened that a woman of that village came there and that shepherd committed fornication with her and she became pregnant and gave birth to a child. It was said to her: Whose child is this? She said: He is the child of one who is living in this temple. So there came persons with hatchets and spades. They called Juraij. He was absorbed in prayer and he did not talk to them and they were about to demolish that temple that he saw them and then came to them and they said: Ask her this woman what she says. He smiled and then touched the head of the child and said: Who is your father? He the child said: My father is the shepherd of the sheep; and when they heard this; they said: We are prepared to rebuild with gold and silver what we have demolished from your temple. He said: No; rebuild it with clay as it had been before. He then went up to his room and absorbed himself in prayer. | The Chapter on Mother And Ansar in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 2 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-19680 | Abu Huraira reported Allah Apostle ﷺ as saying: None spoke in the cradle but only three persons ; Christ son of Mary; the second one the companion of Juraij. Juraij had got constructed a temple and confined himself in that. His mother came to him as he was busy in prayer and she said: Juraij. He said: My Lord; my mother is calling me while I am engaged in my prayer. He continued with the prayer. She returned and she came on the next day and he was busy in prayer; and she said: Juraij. And he said: My Lord; my mother is calling me while I am engaged in prayer; and he continued with the prayer and she went back; and then on the next day she again came and he was busy in prayer and she said: Juraij. And he said: My Lord; my mother is calling me while I am engaged in my prayer; and he continued with the prayer; and she said: My Lord; dont give him death unless he has seen the fate of the prostitutes. The story of Juraij and that of his meditation and prayer gained currency amongst Bani Israil. There was a prostitute who had been a beauty incarnate. She said to the people : If you like I can allure him to evil. She presented herself to him but he paid no heed to her. She came to a shepherd who lived near the temple and she offered herself to him and he had a sexual intercourse with her and so she became pregnant arid when she gave birth to a child she said: This is from Juraij. So they came and asked him to get down and demolished the temple and began to beat him. He said: What is the matter? They said: You have committed fornication with this prostitute and she has given birth to a child from your loins. He said: Where is the child? They brought him the child and he said: just leave me so that I should observe prayer. And he observed prayer and when he finished; he came to the child. He struck his stomach and said: O boy; who is your father? lie said: He is such shepherd. So they turned towards Juraij; kissed him and touched him for seeking blessing and said: We are prepared to construct your temple with gold. He said. No; just rebuild it with mud as it had been; and they did that. Then there was a babe who was sucking his mother that a person dressed in fine garment came riding upon a beast. His mother said: O Allah; make my child like this one. He the babe left sucking and began to see towards him; and said: O Allah; dont make me like him. He then returned to the chest and began to suck the milk of his mother. He Abu Huraira said: I perceived as if I am seeing Allah Messenger ﷺ as he is explaining the scene of his sucking milk with his forefinger in his mouth and sucking that. He Abu Huraira further reported Allah Apostle may be peace upon him as saying: There happened to pass by him a girl who was being beaten and they were saying: You have committed adultery and you have committed theft and she was saying: Allah is enough for me and He is my good Protector; and his mother said: O Allah; dont make my child like her and he left sucking the milk; and looked towards her and said: O Allah; make me like her; and there was a talk between them. She said: O with shaven head; a good-looking person happened to pass by and I said: O Allah; make my child like him; and you said: O Allah; dont make me like him; and they passed by a girl while they were beating her and saying: You committed fornication and you committed theft; and I said: O Allah; dont make my child like her; and you said: O Allah; make me like her. Thereupon he said: That person was a tyrant; and I said: O Allah; dont make me like him; and they were saying about her: You committed fornication whereas in fact she had not committed that and they were saying: You have committed theft whereas she had not committed theft; so I said: O Allah; make me like her. | The Chapter on Fornication And Adultery And Family in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 2 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-20127 | Anas Bin Malik reported that Allah Messenger ﷺ stood when the sun had passed the meridian and he led them noon prayer and after observing salutations completing the prayer he stood upon the pulpit and talked about the Last Hour and made a mention of the important facts prior to it and then said: He who desires to ask anything from me let him ask me about it. By Allah; I shall not move from this place so long as I do not inform you about that which you ask. Anas Bin Malik said: People began to shed tears profusely when they heard this from Allah Messenger ﷺ and Allah Messenger ﷺ said it repeatedly: You ask me. Thereupon Abdullah Bin Hudhafa stood up and said: Allah Messenger; who is my father? He said: Your father is Hudhafa; and Allah Messenger ﷺ said repeatedly: Ask me; and it was at this juncture that Umar knelt down and said : We are well pleased with Allah as our Lord; with Islam as our code of life and with Muhammad as the Messenger of Allah. Allah Messenger ﷺ kept quiet so long as Umar spoke. Then Allah Messenger ﷺ said: The Doom is near; by Him; in Whose Hand is the life of Muhammad; there was presented to me the Paradise and Hell in the nook of this enclosure; and I did not see good and evil like that of the present day. Ibn Shihab reported: Ubaidullah Bin Abdullah Bin Utba told me that the mother of Abdullah Bin Hudhafa told Abdullah Bin Hudhafa: I have never heard of a son more disobedient than you. Do you feel yourself immune from the fact that your mother committed a sin which the women in the pre-Islamic period committed and then you disgrace her in the eyes of the people? SahihMuslim-017-001-20221 | Asma reported: I performed the household duties of AlZubair and he had a horse; I used to look after it. Nothing was more burdensome for me than looking after the horse I used to bring grass for it and looked after it; then I got a servant as Allah Apustle ﷺ had some prisoners of war in his possession. He gave me a female servant. She the female servant then began to look after the horse and thus relieved me of this burden. A person came and he said: Mother of Abdullah; I am a destitute person and I intend that I should start business under the shadow of your house. I Asma said: If I grant you permission; AlZubair may not agree to that; so you come and make a demand of it when AlZubair is also present there. He came accordingly find said: Mother of Abdullah. I am a destitute person. I intend to start t mall business in the shadow of your house. I said: Is there not in Medina any place for starting the business except my house? AlZubair said: Why is it that you prohibit the destitute man to start business here? So he started business and he earned so much that we sold our slave-girl to him There came AlZubair to me while the money was in my lap. He said: Give this to me. SahihMuslim-017-001-20647 | mousab Bin Saad reported on the authority of his father that many verses of the Quran had been revealed in connection with him. His mother Umm Saad had taken oath that she would never talk with him until he abandoned his faith and she neither ate nor drank and said: Allah has commanded you to treat well your parents and I am your mother and I command you to do this. She passed three days in this state until she fainted because of extreme hunger and at that time her son whose name was Umara stood up and served her drink and she began to curse Saad that Allah; the Exalted and Glorions; revealed these verses of the Holy Quran: And We have enjoined upon a person goodness to his parents but if they contend with thee to associate others with Me of which you have no knowledge; then obey them not xxix. 8 ; Treat thein with customary good in this world xxxi. 15. He also reported that there fell to the lot of Allah Messenger ﷺ huge spoils of war and there was one sword in them. I picked that up and came to Allah Messenger ﷺ and said: Bestow this sword upon me as my share in the spoils of war and you know my state. Thereupon he said: Return it to the place from where you picked it up. I went back until I decided to throw it in a store but my soul repulsed me so I came back and asked him to give that sword to me. He said in a loud voice to return it to the place from where I had picked it up. It was on this occasion that this verse was revealed: They asked about the spoils of war viii. 1. He further said: I once fell ill and sent a message to Allah Apostle ﷺ. He visited me and I said to him: Permit me to distribute in charity my property as much as I like. He did not agree. I said: Permit me to distribute half of it. He did not agree. I said: Permit me to distribute the third part; whereupon he kept quiet and it was after this that the distribution of one property in charity to the extent of one-third was held valid. He further said: I came to a group of persons of the Ansir and Muhajirin and they said: Come; so that we may serve you wine; and it was before the use of wine had been prohibited. I went to them in a garden and there had been with them the roasted head of a camel and a small water-skin containing wine. I ate and drank along with them and there came under discussion the Ansr Helpers and Muhajirin immigrants. I said: The immigrants are better than the Ansar; that a person picked up a portion of the head of the camel and struck me with it that my nose was injured. I came to Allah Messenger ﷺ and informed him of the situation that Aliah; the Exalted and Glorious; revealed verses pertaining to wine: Intoxicants and the games of chance and sacrificing to stones set up and divining by arrows are only an uncleanliness; the devil work v. 90. | The Chapter on Almaghazi And Returning Property in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 5 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-20714 | Aisha reported that one day there sat together eleven women making an explicit promise amongst themselves that they would conceal nothing about their spouses. The first one said: My husband is a sort of the meat of a lean camel placed at the top of a hill; which it is difficult to climb up; nor the meat is good enough that one finds in oneself the urge to take it away from the top of that mountain. The second one said: My husband is so bad that I am afraid I would not be able to describe his faults-both visible and invisible completely. The third one said: My husband is a long-statured fellow i. e. he lacks intelligence. If I give vent to my feelings about him; he would divorce me; and if I keep quiet I would be made to live in a state of suspense neither completely abandoned by him nor entertained as wife. The fourth one said: My husband is like the night of Tihama the night of Hijaz and Mecca ; neither too cold nor hot; neither there is any fear of him nor grief. The fifth one said: My husband is like a leopard as he enters the house; and behaves like a lion when he gets out; and he does not ask about that which he leaves in the house. The sixth one said: So far as my husband is concerned; he eats so much that nothing is left back and when he drinks he drinks that no drop is left behind. And when he lies down he wraps his body and does not touch me so that he may know my grief. The seventh one said: My husband is heavy in spirit; having no brightness in him; impotent; suffering from all kinds of conceivable diseases; heaving such rough manners that he may break my head or wound my body; or may do both. The eighth one said: My husband is as sweet as the sweet-smelling plant; and as soft as the softness of the hare. The ninth one said: My husband is the master of a lofty building; long-statured; having heaps of ashes at his door and his house is near the meeting place and the inn. The tenth one said: My husband is Malik; and how fine Malik is; much above appreciation and praise of mine. He has many folds of his camel; more in number than the pastures for them. When they the camels hear the sound of music they become sure that they are going to be slaughtered. The eleventh one said: My husband is Abu Zara. How fine Abu Zara is! He has suspended in my ears heavy ornaments and fed me liberally that my sinews and bones are covered with fat. So he made me happy. He found me among the shepherds living in the side of the mountain; and he made me the owner of the horses; camels and lands and heaps of grain and he finds no fault with me. I sleep and get up in the morning at my own sweet will and drink to my heart content. The mother of Abu Zara; how fine is the mother of Abu Zara! Her bundles are heavily packed or receptacles in her house are filled to the brim and the house quite spacious. So far as the son of Abu Zara is concerned; his bed is as soft as a green palm-stick drawn forth from its bark; or like a sword drawn forth from its scabbard; and whom just an arm of a lamb is enough to satiate. So far as the daughter of Abu Zara is concerned; how fine is the daughter of Abu Zara; obedient to her father; obedient to her mother; wearing sufficient flesh and a source of jealousy for her co-wife. As for the slave-girl of Abu Zara; how fine is she; she does not disclose our affairs to others outside the four walls of the house. She does not remove our wheat; or provision; or take it forth; or squander it; but she preserves it faithfully as a sacred trust. And she does not let the house fill with rubbish. One day Abu Zara went out of his house when the milk was churned in the vessels; that he met a woman; having two children like leopards playing with her pomegranates chest under her vest. He divorced me Umm Zara and married that woman whom Abu Zara met on the way. I Umm Zara later on married another person; a chief; who was an expert rider; and a fine archer: he bestowed upon me many gifts and gave me one pair of every kind of animal and said: Umm Zara; make use of everything you need and send forth to your parents but the fact is that even if I combine all the gifts that he bestowed upon me; they stand no comparison to the least gift of Abu Zara. SahihMuslim-017-001-20805 | Abu Huraira reported: I invited my mother; who was a polytlieist; to Islam. I invited her one day and she said to me something about Allah Messenger ﷺ which I hated. I came to Allah Messenger ﷺ weeping and said: Allah Messenger; I invited my mother to Islam but she did not accept my invitation. I invited her today but she said to me something which I did not like. Kindly supplicate Allah that He may set the mother of Abu Huraira right. Thereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said: O Allah; set the mother of Abu Huraira on the right path. I came out quite pleased with the supplication of Allah Apostle ﷺ and when I came near the door it was closed from within. My mother heard the noise of my footsteps and she said: Abu Huraira; just wait. And I heard the noise of falling of water. She took a bath and put on the shirt and quickly covered her head with a headdress and opened the door and then said: Abu Huraira; I bear witness to the fact that there is no god but Allah and Muhammad is His bondsman and His Messenger. He Abu Huraira said: I went back to Allah Messenger ﷺ and this time I was shedding the tears of joy. I said: Allah Messenger; be happy; for Allah has responded to your supplication and He has set on the right path the mother of Abu Huraira. He the Holy Prophet praised Allah; and extolled Him and uttered good words. I said: Allah Messenger; supplicate to Allah so that He may instill love of mine and that of my mother too in the believing servants and let our hearts be filled with their love; whereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said: O Allah; let there be love of these servants of yours; i.e. Abu Huraira and his mother; in the hearts of the believing servants and let their hearts be filled with the love of the believing servants. SahihMuslim-017-001-20899 | Usair Bin Jabir reported that when people from Yemen came to help the Muslim army at the time of jihad he asked them: Is there amongst you Uwais Bin Amir? He continued finding him out until he met Uwais. He said: Are you Uwais b.; Amir? He said: Yes. He said: Are you from the tribe of Qaran? He said: Yes. He Hadrat Umar again said: Did you suffer from leprosy and then you were cured from it but for the space of a dirham? He said: Yes. He Umar said: Is your mother living ? He said: Yes. He Umar said: I heard Allah Messenger ﷺ say: There would come to you Uwais Bin Amir with the reinforcement from the people of Yemen. He would be from Qaran; the branch of Murid. He had been suffering from leprosy from which he was cured but for a spot of a dirham. His treatment with his mother would have been excellent. If he were to take an oath in the name of Allah; He would honour that. And if it is possible for you; then do ask him to beg forgiveness for you from your Lord. So he Uwais begged forgiveness for him. Umar said: Where do you intend to go? He said: To Kufa. He Umar said: Let me write a letter for you to its governor; whereupon he Uwais said: I love to live amongst the poor people. When it was the next year; a person from among the elite of Kufa performed Hajj and he met Umar. He asked him about Uwais. He said: I left him in a state with meagre means of sustenance. Thereupon Umar said: I heard Allah Messenger ﷺ as saying: There would come to you Uwais Bin Amir; of Qaran; a branch of the tribe of Murid; along with the reinforcement of the people of Yemen. He had been suffering from leprosy which would have been cured but for the space of a dirham. His treatment with his mother would have been very kind. If he would take an oath in the name of Allah for something He would honour it. Ask him to beg forgiveness for you from Allah in case it is possible for you. So he came to Uwais and said.: Beg forgiveness from Allah for me. He Uwais said: You have just come from a sacred journey Hajj ; you; therefore; ask forgiveness for me. He the person who had performed Hajj said: Ask forgiveness for me from Allah. He Uwais again said: You have just come from the sacred journey; so you ask forgiveness for me. Uwais further said: Did you meet Umar? He said: Yes. He Uwais then begged forgiveness for him from Allah. So the people came to know about the status of religious piety of Uwais. SunanAlTermithi-017-001-10095 | Narrated AlJad Bin Abi Uthman: from Anas Bin Malik: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ got married; and he went in with his wife. He said: So my mother; Umm Sulaim prepared some Hais in a Tawr a vessel made of brass and stone and said: O Anas! Take this to the Prophet ﷺ. I said to him: My mother sent this to you; and she conveys her Salam; and says: This is a little something from us for you. He said: Put it down. Then he said: Go and invite so-and-so; so-and-so; and so-and-so for me; and whomever you meet. He named some people; and said: I invited those he named; and whomever I met. - He AlJad said: I said to Anas: How many of you were there? He said: Roughly about three-hundred. - He Anas said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me: O Anas! Bring me the Tawr. He said: They entered until the Suffah a shaded part of the Masjid in AlMadinah and the apartment were full. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Let groups of ten in; and let each person eat what is near him. He said: They ate until they were full. He said: A group exited; and another group entered; until all of them ate. He said: He said to me: O Anas! Remove it. He said: So I took it. I could not tell if there was more when I first put it down; or when I picked it up. He said: Groups of them sat talking in the house of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his wife sat facing the wall. They began to be burdensome on the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out to greet his women folk; then he returned; they realized that they had overburdened him; so they hastened for the gate and all of them exited. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came until he lowered the curtain; and entered while I was sitting in the apartment. He did not remain there long before he left me; and these Ayat were revealed. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out to recite them to the people: O you who believe! Do not enter the Prophet house unless permission is given to you for a meal; not to wait for its preparation. But when you are invited; enter; and when you have taken your meals; dispense without sitting for a talk. Verily; such annoys the Prophet... till the end of the Ayah 33:53 AlJad said: Anas said: I am the earliest of the people to encounter these Ayat; and to be screened from the wives of the Prophet ﷺ. | The Chapter on Entering in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Chapters on Tafsir in Sunan AlTermithi

Then a boy shall be born to them; having one eye in which there is some defect; providing little use. His eyes sleep but his heart does not sleep. Then the Messenger of Allah s.a.w described his parents for us: His father is tall; with little fat; with a nose as if it were a beak. His mother is a bulky woman with long breasts. So Abu Bakrah said: I heard about a child being born to some Jews in AlMadinah. So AlZubair Bin AlAwam and I went until we entered upon his parents. They appeared as the Messenger of Allah s.a.w had described them. We said: Do you have any children? They said: We remained for thirty years without any children being born to us; then we bore a boy; having one eye in which there is some defect; providing little use. His eyes sleep but his heart does not sleep. He said: So we were leaving them; when he appeared; glittering in the sunlight in a velvet garment; murmuring something. It seemed as if that bothered the man; so he said: Indeed I have not said except what the Prophet ﷺ said; a man sneezed in the presence of the Prophet ﷺ and said: AlSalamu Alaikum peace be upon you so the Prophet ﷺ said: Alaika Wa Ala Ummik upon you and upon your mother. SunanAlTermithi-017-001-8806 | Narrated Abu Saeed AlKhudri: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sat upon the Minbar and said: Indeed a worshiper has been given a choice by Allah; between Him giving him from the bounty of this life as much as he wishes; and between what is with Him. So he chose what is with Him. So Abu Bakr said: We will ransom our fathers and mothers for you O Messenger of Allah! He said: So we were amazed. Then the people said: Look at this old man. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ informs about a worshiper whom Allah gave the choice; between Him giving him from the bounty of this life as much as he wishes; and between that which is with Allah; and he says: We will ransom our fathers and mothers for you? SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-28632 | Narrated Zubayb Ibn Thalabah AlAnbari: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent an army to Banu AlAnbar. They captured them at Rukbah in the suburbs of AlTaif and drove them to the Holy Prophet ﷺ. I rode hurriedly to the Holy Prophet ﷺ and said: Peace be on you; Messenger of Allah; and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Your contingent came to us and arrested us; but we had already embraced Islam and cut the sides of the ears of our cattle. When Banu AlAnbar arrived; the Holy Prophet ﷺ said to me: Have you any evidence that you had embraced Islam before you were captured today? I said: Yes. He said: Who is your witness? I said: Samurah; a man from Banu AlAnbar; and another man whom he named. The man testified but Samurah refused to testify. The Holy Prophet ﷺ said: He Samurah has refused to testify for you; so take an oath with your other witness. I said: Yes. He then dictated an oath to me and I swore to the effect that we had embraced Islam on a certain day; and that we had cut the sides of the ears of the cattle. The Holy Prophet ﷺ said: Go and divide half of their property; but do not touch their children. Had Allah not disliked the wastage of action; we should not have taxed you even a rope. Zubayb said: My mother called me and said: This man has taken my mattress. I then went to the Holy Prophet ﷺ and informed him. He said to me: Detain him. So I caught him with a garment around his neck; and stood there with him. Then the Holy Prophet ﷺ looked at us standing there. He asked: What do you intend doing with your captive? I said: I shall let him go free if he returns to this man the mattress of his mother which he has taken from her. He said: Prophet of Allah ﷺ ; I no longer have it. He said: The Holy Prophet ﷺ took the sword of the man and gave it to me; and said to him: Go and give him some sa of cereal. She struck with her hand and broke the bowl. Ibn AlMuthanna version has: The Prophet ﷺ took the pieces of the bowl; and joined one with the other; and began to collect the food in it; saying: Your mother is jealous. Ibn AlMuthanna added: Eat. They ate till a bowl of the one in whose house he was brought.Abu Dawud said: We then returned to the version of the tradition of Mousaddad: He said: Eat. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-28990 | Narrated Amir AlRam: We were in our country when flags and banners were raised. I said: What is this? The the people said: This is the banner of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. So I came to him. He was sitting under a tree. A sheet of cloth was spread for him and he was sitting on it. His Companions were gathered around him. I sat with them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ mentioned illness and said: When a believer is afflicted by illness and Allah cures him of it; it serves as an atonement for his previous sins and a warning to him for the future. But when a hypocrite becomes ill and is then cured; he is like a camel which has been tethered and then let loose by its owners; but does not know why they tethered it and why they let it loose. A man from among those around him asked: Messenger of Allah; what are illnesses? I swear by Allah; I never fell ill. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Get up and leave us. You do not belong to our number. When we were with him; a man came to him. He had a sheet of cloth and something in his hand. He turned his attention to him and said: Messenger of Allah; when I saw you; I turned towards you. I saw a group of trees and heard the sound of fledglings. I took them and put them in my garment. Their mother then came and began to hover round my head. I showed them to her; and she fell on them. I wrapped them with my garment. They are now with me. He said: Put them away from you. So I put them away; but their mother stayed with them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to his companions: Are you surprised at the affection of the mother for her young? They said: Yes; Messenger of Allah. He said: I swear by Him Who has sent me with the Truth; Allah is more affectionate to His servants than a mother to her young ones. Take them back put them and where you took them from when their mother should have been with them. MuwataMalik-017-001-34786 | Malik related to me from Hisham Ibn Urwa that his father said that there was only one hadd against a man who slandered a group of people. Malik said; If they are on separate occasions there is still only one hadd against him. Malik related to me from Ab AlRijal Muhammad Ibn Abdulrahman Ibn Haritha Ibn AlNuman AlAnsari; then from the Banun-Najar from his mother Amra bint Abdulrahman that two men cursed each other in the time of Umar Ibn AlKhattab. One of them said to the other; By Allah; my father is not an adulterer and my mother is not an adulteress. Umar Ibn AlKhattab asked advice about that. One person said; He has praised his father and mother. Another said; His father and mother have praise other than this. We think that he is to be flogged with the hadd. So Umar flogged him with the hadd of eighty lashes. Malik said; There is no hadd in our view except for slander; denial or insinuation; in which one sees that the speaker intends by that denial or slander. Then the hadd is completely imposed on the one who said it. Malik said; What is done in our community when a man denies that another man is from his father; is that he deserves the hadd. If the mother who is denied is a slave; then he deserves the hadd as well. | The Chapter on Fornication And Adultery Legal Punishment in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Sadaqa in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-34804 | Yahya related to me that Malik said; What is done in our community in the case of a man who makes his slave-girl a mudabbara and she gives birth to children after that; and then the slave-girl dies before the one who gave her a tadbir is that her children are in her position. The conditions which were confirmed for her are confirmed for them. The death of their mother does not harm them. If the one who made her mudabbara dies; they are free if their value is less than one third of his total property. Malik said; For every mother by birth as opposed to mother by suckling; her children are in her position. If she is free and she gives birth after she is free; her children are free. If she is a mudabbara or mukataba; or freed after a number of years in service; or part of her is free or pledged or she is an umm walad; each of her children are in the same position as their mother. They are set free when she is set free and they are slaves when she is a slave. Malik said about the mudabbara given a tadbir while she was pregnant; Her children are in her position. That is also the position of a man who frees his slave- girl while she is pregnant and does not know that she is pregnant. Malik said; The sunna about such women is that their children follow them and are set free by their being set free. Malik said; It is the same as if a man had bought a slave-girl while she was pregnant. The slave-girl and what is in her womb belong to the one who bought her whether or not the buyer stipulates that. Malik continued; It is not halal for the seller to make an exception about what is in her womb because that is an uncertain transaction. It reduces her price and he does not know if that will reach him or not. That is as if one sold the foetus in the womb of the mother. That is not halal because it is an uncertain transaction. Malik said about the mukatab or mudabbar who bought a slave- girl and had intercourse with her and she became pregnant by him and gives birth; The children of both of them by a slave-girl are in his position. They are set free when he is set free and they are slaves when he is a slave. Malik said; When he is set free; the umm walad is part of his property which is surrendered to him when he is set free. | The Chapter on Freed And Inheritance Of Slaves in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Speech in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-34825 | Malik related to me from Abdulrahman Ibn Abi Amra AlAnsari that his mother had wanted to make a bequest; but she delayed until morning and died. She had intended to set someone free; so Abdulrahman said; I said to AlQasim Ibn Muhammad; Will it help her if I free a slave for her? AlQasim replied; Sad Ibn Ubada said to the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; My mother died; will it help her if I set a slave free for her? MuwataMalik-017-001-34835 | Malik related to me that he had heard that Said Ibn AlMusayab was asked who had the wala of the children whom a slave had by a free woman. Said said; If their father dies and he is a slave who was not set free; their wala belongs to the mawali of their mother. Malik said; That is like the child of a woman who is a mawla who has been divorced by lian; the child is attached to the mawali of his mother and they are his mawali. If he dies; they inherit from him. If he commits a crime; they pay the blood-money for him. If his father acknowledges him; he is given a kinship to him and his wala goes to the mawali of his father. They are his heirs; they pay his blood-money and his father is punished with the hadd-punishment. Malik said; It is like that with a free-born woman divorced by lian. If her husband who curses her by lian does not acknowledge her child; the child is dealt with in the same way except that the rest of his inheritance after the inheritance of his mother and his brothers from his mother goes to all the muslims as long as he was not given kinship to his father. The child of the lian is attached to the patronage of the mawali of his mother until his father acknowledges him because he does not have a lineage or paternal relations. If his lineage is confirmed; it goes to his paternal relations. Malik said; The generally agreed-on way of doing things among us about a child of a slave by a free woman; while the father of the slave is free; is that the grandfather the father of the slave ; attracts the wala of his son free children by a free woman. They leave their inheritance to him as long as their father is a slave. If the father becomes free; the wala returns to his mawali. If he dies and he is still a slave; the inheritance and the wala go to the grandfather. If the slave has two free sons; and one of them dies while the father is still a slave; the grandfather; the father of the father; attracts the wala and the inheritance. Malik spoke about a slave-girl who was set free while she was pregnant and her husband was a slave and then her husband became free before she gave birth; or after she gave birth. He said; The wala of what is in her womb goes to the person who set the mother free because slavery touched the child before the mother was set free. It is not treated in the same way as a child conceived by its mother after she has been set free because the wala of such a child; is attracted by the father when he is set free. Malik said that if a slave asked his master permission to free a slave of his and his master gave permission; the wala of the freed slave went to the master of his master; and his wala did not return to the master who had set him free; even if he were to become free himself. | The Chapter on Freed And Inheritance Of Slaves in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Greetings in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-34852 | Yahya related to me from Malik that Rabia Ibn Abi Abdulrahman said; The slave of fair complexion and excellence is estimated at fifty dinars or six hundred dirhams. The blood-money of a free muslim woman is five hundred dinars or six thousand dirhams. Malik said; The blood-money of the foetus of a free woman is a tenth of her blood-money. The tenth is fifty dinars or six hundred dirhams. Malik said; I have not heard anyone dispute that there is no slave in compensation for the foetus until it leaves its mother womb and falls still-born from her womb. Malik said; I heard that if the foetus comes out of its mother womb alive and then dies; the full blood-money is due for it. Malik said; The foetus is not alive unless it cries at birth. If it comes out of its mother womb and cries out and then dies; the complete blood-money is due for it. We think that the slave- girl foetus has a tenth of the price of the slave-girl. Malik said; When a woman murders a man or woman; and the murderess is pregnant; retaliation is not taken against her until she has given birth. If a woman who is pregnant is killed intentionally or unintentionally; the one who killed her is not obliged to pay anything for her foetus. If she is murdered; then the one who killed her is killed and there is no blood-money for her foetus. If she is killed accidentally; the tribe obliged to pay on behalf of her killer pays her blood-money; and there is no blood-money for the foetus. Yahya related to me; Malik was asked about the foetus of the christian or jewish woman which was aborted. He said; I think that there is a tenth of the blood-money of the mother for it. | The Chapter on Money And Inheritance In Crimes And Felonies in HodHood Indexing, The Book of General Subjects in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-34915 | Yahya said; I heard Malik say that if a man pledges his garden for a stated period and the fruits of that garden are ready before the end of that period; the fruits are not included in the pledge with the real estate; unless it is stipulated by the pledger in his pledge. However; if a man receives a slave-girl as a pledge and she is pregnant or she becomes pregnant after his taking her as a pledge; her child is included with her. A distinction is made between the fruit and the child of the slave-girl. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; If someone sells a palm which has been pollinated; the fruit belongs to the seller unless the buyer stipulates its inclusion. The undisputed way of doing things in our community is that if a man sells a slave-girl or an animal with a foetus in its womb; the foetus belongs to the buyer; whether or not the buyer stipulates it. The palm is not like the animal. Fruit is not like the foetus in its mother womb. Part of what clarifies that is also that it is the usage of people to have a man pawn the fruit of the palm apart from the palm. No one pawns the foetus in its mother womb whether of slaves or animals. | The Chapter on Agriculture And Selling Of Fruits in HodHood Indexing, The Book of The Evil Eye in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35047 | Yahya related to me from Malik that Ab AlRijal Muhammad Ibn Abdulrahman heard his mother; Amra bint Abdulrahman say; A man bought the fruit of an enclosed orchard in the time of the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; and he tended it while staying on the land. It became clear to him that there was going to be some loss. He asked the owner of the orchard to reduce the price for him or to revoke the sale; but the owner made an oath not to do so. The mother of the buyer went to the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; and told him about it. The Messengerof Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; By this oath; he has sworn not to do good. The owner of the orchard heard about it and went to the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; and said; Messenger of Allah; the choice is his. | The Chapter on Financial Transaction And Return in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Madina in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35137 | Malik said; The generally agreed on way of doing things among us about which there is no dispute and what I have seen the people of knowledge in our city doing is that when a father inherits from a son or a daughter and the deceased leaves children; or grandchildren through a son; the father has a fixed share of one sixth. If the deceased does leave any children or male grandchildren through a son; the apportioning begins with those with whom the father shares in the fixed shares. They are given their fixed shares. If a sixth or more is left over; the sixth and what is above it is given to the father; and if there is less than a sixth left; the father is given his sixth as a fixed share; i.e. the other shares are adjusted. The inheritance of a mother from her child; if her son or daughter dies and leaves children or male or female grandchildren through a son; or leaves two or more full or half siblings is a sixth. If the deceased does not leave any children or grandchildren through a son; or two or more siblings; the mother has a whole third except in two cases. One of them is if a man dies and leaves a wife and both parents. The wife has a fourth; the mother a third of what remains; which is a fourth of the capital. The other is if a wife dies and leaves a husband and both parents. The husband gets half; and the mother a third of what remains; which is a sixth of the capital. That is because Allah; the Blessed; the Exalted; says in His Book; His two parents each have a sixth of what he leaves if he has children. If he does not have children; and his parents inherit from him; his mother has a third. If he has siblings; the mother has a sixth. Surat 4 ayat 11. The sunna is that the siblings be two or more. | The Chapter on Inheritance And Shares in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Blood Money in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35139 | Malik said; The generally agreed on way of doing things among us is that full siblings do not inherit anything with sons nor anything with grandsons through a son; nor anything with the father. They do inherit with the daughters and the granddaughters through a son when the deceased does not leave a paternal grandfather. Any property that is left over; they are in it as paternal relations. One begins with the people who are allotted fixed shares. They are given their shares. If there is anything left over after that; it belongs to the full siblings. They divide it between themselves according to the Book of Allah; whether they are male or female. The male has a portion of two females. If there is nothing left over; they have nothing. If the deceased does not leave a father or a paternal grandfather or children or male or female grandchildren through a son; a single full sister gets a half. If there are two or more full sisters; they get two thirds. If there is a brother with them; sisters; whether one or more; do not have a fixed share. One begins with whoever shares in the fixed shares. They are given their shares. Whatever remains after that goes to the full siblings. The male has the portion of two females except in one case; in which the full siblings have nothing. They share in this case the third of the half-siblings by the mother. That case is when a woman dies and leaves a husband; a mother; half- siblings by her mother; and full siblings. The husband has a half. The mother has one sixth. The half-siblings by the mother have a third. Nothing is left after that; so the full siblings share in this case with the half-siblings by the mother in their third. The male has the portion of two females in as much as all of them are siblings of the deceased by the mother. They inherit by the mother. That is because Allah; the Blessed; the Exalted; said in His Book; If a man or a woman has no direct heir and he has a brother or a sister; each one of the two gets a sixth. If there are more than that; they share equally in the third. Surat 4 ayat 12. They therefore share in this case because all of them are siblings of the deceased by the mother. | The Chapter on Inheritance And Shares in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Hudud in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35140 | Malik said; The generally agreed on wayof doing things among us is that when there are no full siblings with them; half-siblings by the father take the position of full siblings. Their males are like the males of the full siblings; and their females are like their females except in the case where the half-siblings by the mother and the full siblings share; because they are not offspring of the mother who joins these. Malik said; If there are both full siblings and half-siblings by the father and there is a male among the full siblings none of the half-siblings by the father have any inheritance. If there is one or more females in the full siblings and there is no male with them; the one full sister gets a half; and the half sister by the father gets a sixth; completing the two-thirds. If there is a male with the half-sisters by the father; they have no share. The people of fixed shares are given their shares and if there is something left after that it is divided between the half-siblings by the father. The male has the portion of two females. If there is nothing left over; they get nothing. If the full siblings consist of two or more females; they get two-thirds; and the half-sisters by the father get nothing with them unless there is a half-brother by the father with them. If there is a half-brother by the father with them; the people of fixed shares are given their shares and if there is something left over after that; it is divided between the half- siblings by the father. The male gets the portion of two females. If there is nothing left over; they get nothing. Half-siblings by the mother; full-siblings; and half-siblings by the father; each have a sixth when they are onlyone. Two and more share a third. The male has the same portion as the female. They are in the same position in it. | The Chapter on Inheritance And Shares in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Hudud in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35146 | Yahya related to me from Malik from Abdu Rabbih Ibn Said that Abu Bakr Ibn Abdulrahman Ibn AlHarith Ibn Hisham only gave a fixed share to two grandmothers together. Malik said; The generally agreed on way of doing things among us in which there is no dispute and which I saw the people of knowledge in our city doing; is that the maternal grandmother does not inherit anything at all with the mother. Outside of that; she is given a sixth as a fixed share. The paternal grandmotherdoes not inherit anything along with the mother or the father. Outside of that she is given a sixth as a fixed share. If both the paternal grandmother and maternal grandmother are alive; and the deceased does not have a father or mother outside of them; Malik said;.I have heard that if the maternal grandmother is the nearest of the two of them; then she has a sixth instead of the paternal grandmother. If the paternal grandmother is nearer; or they are in the same position in relation to the deceased; the sixth is divided equally between them. Malik said; None of the female grand-relations except for these two has any inheritance because I have heard that the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; gave the grandmother inheritance; and then Abu Bakr asked about that until someone reliable related from the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; that he had made the grandmother an heir and given a share to her. Another grandmother came to Umar Ibn AlKhattab; and he said; I am not one to add to fixed shares. If there are two of you together; it is between you. If either of you is left alone with it; it is hers. Malik said; We do not know of anyone who made other than the two grandmothers heirs from the beginning of Islam to this day. | The Chapter on Inheritance And Grandmothers in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Hudud in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35147 | Yahya related to me from Malik from Zayd Ibn Aslam that Umar Ibn AlKhattab asked the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; about someone who died without parents or offspring; and the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said to him; The ayat which was sent down in the summer at the end of the Surat AlNisa Surat 4 is enoughfor you. Malik said; The generally agreed on way of doing things among us; in which there is no dispute; and which I saw the people of knowledge in our city doing; is that the person who leaves neither parent or offspring can be of two types. As for the kind described in the ayat which was sent down at the beginning of the Surat AlNisa in which Allah; the Blessed; the Exalted! said; If a man or a woman has no direct heir; but has a brother or a sister by the mother; each of the two has a sixth. If there are more than that; they share equally in a third. Surat 4 ayat 12 This heirless one does not have heirs among his mother siblings since there are no children or parents. As for the other kind described in the ayat which comes at the end of the Surat AlNisa; Allah; the Blessed; the Exalted; said in it; They will ask you for a decision. Say; Allah gives you a decision about the indirect heirs. If a man perishes having no children; but he has a sister; she shall receive a half of what he leaves; and he is her heir if she has no children. If there are two sisters; they shall receive two-thirds of what he leaves. If there are brothers and sisters; the male shall receive the portion of two females. Allah makes clear to you that you might not go astray. Allah has knowledge of everything Surat 4 ayat 176. Malik said; If this person without direct heirs parents or children has siblings by the father; they inherit with the grandfather from the person without direct heirs. The grandfather inherits with the siblings because he is more entitled to the inheritance than them. That is because he inherits a sixth with the male children of the deceased when the siblings do not inherit anything with the male children of the deceased. How can he not be like one of them when he takes a sixth with the children of the deceased? How can he not take a third with the siblings while the brother sons take a third with them? The grandfather is the one who overshadows the half-siblings by the mother and keeps them from inheriting. He is more entitled to what they have because they are omitted for his sake. If the grandfather did not take that third; the half-siblings by the mother would take it and would take what does not return to the half-siblings by the father. The half-siblings by the mother are more entitled to that third than the half-siblings by the father while the grandfather is more entitled to that than the half- siblings by the mother. | The Chapter on Inheritance And Male Childs in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Hudud in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35151 | Malik said; The generally agreed on way of doing things among us in which there is no dispute and which I saw the people of knowledge in our citydoing; is that the child of the half-sibling by the mother; the paternal grandfather; the paternal uncle who is the maternal half- brother of the father; the maternal uncle; the great-grandmother who is the mother of the mother father; the daughter of the full- brother; the paternal aunt; and the maternal aunt do not inherit anything by their kinship. Malik said; The woman who is the furthest relation of the deceased of those who were named in this book; does not inherit anything by her kinship; and women do not inherit anything apart from those that are named in the Quran. Allah; the Blessed; the Exalted; mentioned in His Book the inheritance ofthe mother from her children; the inheritance of the daughters from their father; the inheritance of the wife from her husband; the inheritance of the full sisters; the inheritance of the half-sisters by the father and the inheritance of the half-sisters by the mother. The grandmother is made an heir by the example of the Prophet; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; made about her. He permitted it. When Ibn Masud came to Madina; he asked about it and was told that it was not as he had said; and that this condition referred to foster-mothers. Ibn Masud returnedto Kufa;and he had just reached his dwelling when the man who had asked him for the opinion came to visit and he ordered him to separate from his wife. Malik said that if a man married the mother of a woman who was his wife and he had sexual relations with the mother then his wife was haram for him; and he had to separate from both of them. They were both haram to him forever; if he had had sexual relations with the mother. If he had not had relations with the mcther; his wife was not haram for him; and he separated from the mother. Malik explained further about the man who married a woman; and then married her mother and cohabited with her; The mother will never be halal for him; and she is not halal for his father or his son; and any daughters of hers are not halal for him and so his wife is haram for him. Malik said; Fornication however; does not make any of that haram because Allah; the Blessed; the Exalted; mentioned the mothers of your wives; as one whom marriage made haram; and he didnt mention the making haram by fornication. Every marriage in a halal manner in which a man cohabits with his wife; is a halal marriage. This is what I have heard; and this is how things are done among us. | The Chapter on Fragrances And Mother And Daughters in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Game in Muwata Malik |
