Hadith PageArabic TextEnglish TranslationBook and Chapter
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1099Narrated Abdullah Bin Umar: I heard Allah Messenger ﷺ while he was standing on the pulpit; saying; The remaining period of your stay on the earth in comparison to the nations before you; is like the period between the Asr prayer and sunset. The people of the Torah were given the Torah and they acted upon it till midday; and then they were worn out and were given for their labor; one Qirat each. Then the people of the Gospel were given the Gospel and they acted upon it till the time of the Asr prayer; and then they were worn out and were given for their labor ; one Qirat each. Then you people were given the Quran and you acted upon it till sunset and so you were given two Qirats each double the reward of the previous nations. Then the people of the Torah said; O our Lord! These people have done a little labor much less than we but have taken a greater reward. Allah said; Have I withheld anything from your reward? They said; No. Then Allah said; That is My Favor which I bestow on whom I wish. The Chapter on Jihad And Alhajj in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Allahs Wish and Will in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1120Narrated AlBara Bin Azib: Allah Messenger ﷺ said; O so-and-so; whenever you go to your bed for sleeping say; O Allah! I have surrendered myself over to you and have turned my face towards You; and leave all my affairs to You and depend on You and put my trust in You expecting Your reward and fearing Your punishment. There is neither fleeing from You nor refuge but with You. I believe in the Book Quran which You have revealed and in Your Prophet Muhammad whom You have sent. If you then die on that night; then you will die as a Muslim; and if you wake alive in the morning then you will receive the reward. See Hadith No. 323; Vol. 8The Chapter on Jihad Reward And Believe in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on He has sent it down with His Knowledge and the angels bear witness in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1164Narrated Ibn Umar: Allah Messenger ﷺ said; Your stay in this world in comparison to the stay of the nations preceding you; is like the period between Asr prayer and the sun set in comparison to a whole day. The people of the Torah were given the Torah and they acted on it till midday and then they were unable to carry on. And they were given a reward equal to one Qirat each. Then the people of the Gospel were given the Gospel and they acted on it till Asr Prayer and then they were unable to carry on; so they were given la reward equal to one Qirat each. Then you were given the Quran and you acted on it till sunset; therefore you were given a reward equal to two Qirats each. On that; the people of the Scriptures said; These people Muslims did less work than we but they took a bigger reward. Allah said to them. Have I done any oppression to you as regards your rights? They said; No. Then Allah said; That is My Blessing which I grant to whomsoever I will. The Chapter on Jihad And Alhajj in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Say Bring here the Taurat and recite it in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-125Narrated Imran Bin Hosain: who had piles I asked Allah Messenger ﷺ about the praying of a man while sitting. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-126Narrated Abdullah Bin Buraida: Imran Bin Hosain had piles. Once Abu Ma mar narrated from Imran Bin Hosain had said; I asked the Prophet ﷺ about the prayer of a person while sitting. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1485Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah Messenger ﷺ said; Horses may be used for three purposes: For a man they may be a source of reward in the Hereafter ; for another; a means of protection; and for another; a source of sin. The man for whom they are a source of reward; is the one who keeps them for Allah Cause and ties them with long ropes and lets them graze in a pasture or garden. Whatever those long ropes allow them to eat of that pasture or garden; will be written as good deeds for him and if they break their ropes and run one or two rounds; then all their footsteps and dung will be written as good deeds for him; and if they pass a river and drink from it though he has had no intention of watering them; even then; that will be written as good deeds for him. So such horses are a source of reward for that man. For the man who keeps horses for his livelihood in order not to ask others for help or beg his bread; and at the same time he does not forget Allah right of what he earns through them and of their backs that he presents it to be used in Allah Cause ; such horses are a shelter for him from poverty. For the man who keeps them just out of pride and for showing off; they are a source of sin. Then Allah Messenger ﷺ was asked about donkeys. He said; Allah has not revealed anything to me regarding them except this comprehensive Verse: Then anyone who has done good; equal to the weight of an atom or a small ant shall see it; and any one who has done evil; equal to the weight of an atom or a small ant shall see it. 99.7-8The Chapter on Jihad Manners in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The laws inferred from certain evidences and the meaning of an evidence in Sahih AlBukhari

The people said; The good deeds of Amir are lost as he has killed himself. I returned at the time while they were talking about that. I went to the Prophet ﷺ and said; O Allah Prophet! Let my father be sacrificed for you! The people claim that Amir good deeds are lost. SahihMuslim-017-001-21929Abu Huraira reported Allah Messenger ﷺ as saying: No owner of the treasure who does not pay Zakat would be spared but his hoards would be heated in the Fire of Hell and these would be made into plates and with these his sides; his forehead would be cauterised till Allah would pronounce judgment among His servants during a day; the extent of which would be fifty thousand years. He would then see his path; leading either to Paradise or to Hell. And no owner of the camels who does not pay Zakat would be spared but a soft sandy plain would be set for him and they the camels would be made to pass over him till the last of them would be made to return till Allah would pronounce judgment among His servants during a day the extent of which would be fifty thousand years. He would then see his path leading him to Paradise or leading him to Hell. And no owner of the cattle and goats who does not pay Zakat would be spared but a soft sandy plain would be set for him; he would find none of them missing; with twisted horns; without horns; or with broken horns; and they will gore him with their horns and trample him with their hoofs and they would be made to pass over him till the last of them would be made to return till Allah would pronounce judgment among His servants; during a day the extent of which would be fifty thousand years; and he would see the paths leading to Paradise or to Hell. He said: The horses have goodness in their foreheads or he said or goodness is ingrained in the foreheads of the horses Suhail said: I am in doubt as to what was actually said up till the Day Of Judgment. The horses are of three kinds. They are a source of reward to a person; they are a covering to a person; and they are a burden to a person. As for those which bring reward is that a person would get reward who rears them for the sake of Allah and trains them for Him; and nothing disappears in their stomachs but Allah would record for him a good deed. And if they were to graze in the meadow; they would eat nothing but Allah would record for him a reward. And if they were to drink water from the canal; with every drop that; would disappear in their stomachs there would be reward for the owner. He went on describing till a reward was mentioned for their urine and dung. And if they pranced a course or two; there would be recorded a reward for every pace that they covered. As for one for whom they are a covering; he is the man who rears them for honour and dignity but does not forget the right of their backs and their stomachs; in plenty and adversity; As regards one for whom they are a burden; he is that who rears them for vainglory and showing off to the people; for him they are; the burden. They said: Messenger of Allah; what about asses? He said: Allah has not revealed to me anything in regards to it except this one comprehensive verse: He who does an atom weight of good will see it; and he who does an atom weight of evil will see it xcix. 7.The Chapter on Blowing The Horn In The Day Of Judgment in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 6 in Sahih Muslim

If anyone prays in the night of the power lailat Alqadr because of faith and in order to seek his reward from Allah his previous sins will be forgiven for him.Abu Dawud said: This tradition has been transmitted in a similar manner by Yahya Bin Abi Kathir and Muhammad Bin Amr from Abu Salamah. The Chapter on Forgiveness And Reward in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Regarding Standing In Voluntary Night Prayer During The Month Of Ramadan in Sunan Abu Dawoud
SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-24942Narrated Maymunah; daughter of Kardam: I went out along with my father during the hajj performed by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. My father came near him; he was riding his camel. He stopped there and listened to him. He had a whip like the whip of the teachers. I heard the Bedouin and the people saying: Keep away from the whip. My father came up to him. He caught hold of his foot and acknowledged him his Prophethood. He stopped and listened to him. He then said: I participated in the army of Athran in the pre-Islamic days. The narrator; Ibn AlMuthanna; said: Army of Gathran. Tariq Ibn AlMuraqqa said: Who will give me a lance and get a reward? I asked: What is its reward? He replied: I shall marry him to my first daughter born to me. So I gave him my lance and then disappeared from him till I knew that a daughter was born to him and she came of age. I then came to him and said: Send my wife to me. He swore that he would not do that until I fixed a dower afresh other than that agreed between me and him; and I swore that I should not give him the dower other than that I had given him before. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: How old is she now? He said: She has grown old. He said: I think you should leave her. He said: This put awe and fear into me; and I looked at the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. When I entered the Masjid of Kufah ; I found there some people of moderate stature; and among them was a man whom you could recognize when you saw him that he was from the people of Hijaz. I asked: Who is he? The people frowned at me and said: Do you not recognize him? This is Hudhayfah Ibn AlYaman; the companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Then Hudhayfah said: People used to ask the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about good; and I used to ask him about evil. Then the people stared hard at him. He said: I know the reason why you dislike it. I then asked: Messenger of Allah; will there be evil as there was before; after this good which Allah has bestowed on us? He replied: Yes. I asked: Wherein does the protection from it lie? He replied: In the sword. I asked: Messenger of Allah; what will then happen? He replied: If Allah has on Earth a caliph who flays your back and takes your property; obey him; otherwise die holding onto the stump of a tree. I asked: What will come next? He replied: Then the Antichrist Dajjal will come forth accompanied by a river and fire. He who falls into his fire will certainly receive his reward; and have his load taken off him; but he who falls into his river will have his load retained and his reward taken off him. When we reached the place of attack; I galloped my horse and outstripped my companions; and the people of that locality received me with a great noise. I said to them: Say There is no god but Allah; and you will be protected. They said this. My companions blamed me; saying: You deprived us of the booty. When we came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; they told him what I had done. So he called me; appreciating what I had done; and said: Allah has recorded for you so and so a reward for every man of them. Abdulrahman said: I forgot the reward. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said: I shall write a will for you after me. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-27298Narrated Qays Ibn Bishr AlTaghlibi: My father told me that he was a companion of Abu AlDarda. There was in Damascus a man from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ ; called Ibn AlHanzaliyah. He was a recluse and rarely met the people. He remained engaged in prayer. When he was not praying he was occupied in glorifying Allah and exalting Him until he went to his family. Once he passed us when we were with AbudDarda. AbudDarda said to him: Tell us a word which benefits us and does not harm you. He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent out a contingent and it came back. One of the men came and sat in the place where the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to sit; and he said to a man beside him: Would that you saw us when we met the enemy and so-and-so attacked and cut through a lance. He said: Take it from me and I am a boy of the tribe Ghifar. What do you think about his statement? He replied: I think his reward was lost. Another man heard it and said: I do not think that there is any harm in it. They quarrelled until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ heard it; and he said: Glory be to Allah! There is no harm if he is rewarded and praised. I saw that AbudDarda was pleased with it and began to raise his hand to him and say: Did you hear it from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ? He said: Yes. He continued to repeat it to him so often that I thought he was going to kneel down. He said: On another day he again passed us. AbudDarda said to him: Tell us a word which benefits us and does not harm you. He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to us: One who spends on the maintenance of horses for jihad is like the one who spreads his hand to give alms sadaqah and does not withhold it. He then passed us on another day. AbudDarda said to him: Tell us a word which benefits us and does no harm to you. He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Khuraym AlAsadi would be a fine man were it not for the length of his hair; which reaches the shoulders; and the way he lets his lower garment hang down. When Khuraym heard that; he hurriedly; took a knife; cut his hair in line with his ears and raised his lower garment half way up his legs. He then passed us on another day. AbudDarda said to him: tell us a word which benefits us and does not harm you. He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: You are coming to your brethren; so tidy your mounts and tidy your dress; until you are like a mole among the people. The angels come early in the morning; sit at the door of the Masjid; and record that so-and-so came at the first hour; and so-and-so came at the second hour until the imam comes out for preaching. MuwataMalik-017-001-34721Yahya related to me from Malik from Sumay; the mawla of Abu Bakr from Abu Salih AlSamman from Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; A man was walking on a road when he became very thirsty. He found a well and went into it and drank and came out. There was a dog panting and eating earth out of thirst. The man said; This dog has become as thirsty as I was. He went down into the well and filled his shoe and then held it in his mouth until he climbed out and gave the dog water to drink. Allah thanked him for it and forgave him. MuwataMalik-017-001-35410Yahya related to me from Malik from Zayd Ibn Aslam from Abu Salih AlSamman from Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; Horses are a reward for one man; a protection for another; a burden for another. The one who has them as a reward is the one who dedicates them for use in the way of Allah; and tethers them in a meadow or grassland. Whatever the horse enjoys of the grassland or meadow in the length of its tether are good deeds for him. If it breaks its tether and goes over a hillock or two; its tracks and droppings are good deeds for him. If it crosses a river and drinks from it while he did not mean to allow it to drink it; that counts as good deeds for him; and the horse is a reward for him. Another man uses his horse to gain self reliance and up- standingness and does not forget Allah right on their necks and backs i.e. he does not ill treat or over-work them. Horses are a protection for him. Another man uses them out of pride to show them off and in hostility to the people of Islam. They are a burden on that man. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; was asked about donkeys; and he said; Nothing has been revealed to me about them except this single Allinclusive ayat; Whoever does an atom of good will see it; and whoever does an atom of evil; will see it.
