SahihAlBukhari-017-001-4464 | Narrated Anas Bin Malik: Allah Messenger ﷺ used to visit Umm Haram bint Milhan; who would offer him meals. Umm Haram was the wife of Ubada Bin AlSamit. Allah Messenger ﷺ ; once visited her and she provided him with food and started looking for lice in his head. Then Allah Messenger ﷺ slept; and afterwards woke up smiling. Umm Haram asked; What causes you to smile; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ? He said. Some of my followers who in a dream were presented before me as fighters in Allah cause on board a ship amidst this sea caused me to smile; they were as kings on the thrones or like kings on the thrones. Ishaq; a sub-narrator is not sure as to which expression the Prophet ﷺ used. Umm Haram said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Invoke Allah that he makes me one of them. Allah Messenger ﷺ invoked Allah for her and slept again and woke up smiling. Once again Umm Haram asked; What makes you smile; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ? He replied; Some of my followers were presented to me as fighters in Allah Cause; repeating the same dream. Umm Haram said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Invoke Allah that He makes me one of them. He said; You are amongst the first ones. It happened that she sailed on the sea during the Caliphate of Muawiya Bin Abi Sufyan; and after she disembarked; she fell down from her riding animal and died. | The Chapter on Fragrances And Wounds in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The invocation that Allah may let adorn with martyrdom in Sahih AlBukhari |

By Allah; it shall not be taken from her i. e. from Umm Haritha. Thereupon Allah Apostle said: Hallowed be Allah. O Umm Rubayi; Qisas retribution is a command; prescribed in the Book of Allah. She said: No; by Allah; Qisas will never be taken from her; and she went on saying this until they the relatives of the one who had been injured accepted the blood-wit. Thereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said: Verily there are amongst the servants of Allah such pious persons who; if they take oath of Allah; He honours it. | The Chapter on Slaying Of Camels In Crimes And Felonies in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 5 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-17914 | It has been reported on the authority of Anas Bin Malik that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to visit Umm Haram daughter of Milhan who was the sister of his foster-mother or his father aunt. She was the wife of Ubada Bin Samit; One day the Messenger of Allah ﷺ paid her a visit. She entertained him with food and then sat down to rub his head. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ dozed off and when he woke up after a while ; he was laughing. She asked: What made you laugh. Messenger of Allah? He said: Some people from my Umma were presented to me who were fighters in the way of Allah and were sailing in this sea. Gliding smoothly on the water ; they appeared to be kings or like kings sitting on thrones the narrator has a doubt about the actual expression used by the Holy Prophet. She said: Messenger of Allah; pray to Allah that He may include me among these warriors. He prayed for her. Then he placed his head down and dozed off again. He woke up laughing; as before. She said I said: Messenger of Allah; what makes you laugh? He replied: A people from my Umma were presented to me. They were fighters in Allah way. He described them in the same words as he had described the first warriors. She said: Messenger of Allah; pray to God that He may include me among these warriors. He said: You are among the first ones. Umm Haram daughter of Milhan sailed in the aea in the time of Muawiya. When she came out of the sea and was going to mount a riding animal she fell down and died. | The Chapter on Fragrances And Presents in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 49 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-18066 | It has been narrated on the authority of Anas Bin Malik who said: When the Muhajirs migrated from Mecca to Medina; they came in a state that they had not anything i. e. money in theirhands; while the Ansar possessed lands and date palms. They divided their properties with the Muhajirs. The Ansar divided and gave them on the condition that they would give half the fruit from the orchards every year; and the Muhajirs would recompense them by working with them and putting in labour. The mother of Anas Bin Malik was called Umm Sulaim and she was also the mother of Abdullah Bin Talha who was a brother of Anas from his mother side. The mother of Anas had given the Messenger of Allah ﷺ her date-palms. He bestowed them upon Umm Aiman; the slave-girl who had been freed by him and was the mother of Usama Bin Zaid. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had finished the war with the people of Khaibar and returned to Medina; the Muhajirs returned to the Ansar all the gifts which they had given them out of the fruits. Anas Bin Malik said: The Messenger of. Allah ﷺ returned to my mother her date-palms and gave to Umm Aiman instead of them date-palms from his orchard. Ibn Shihab says that Umm Aiman was the mother of Usama Bin Zaid who was the slave-girl of Abdullah Bin Abd AlMuttalib and hailed from Abyssinia. When Amina gave birth to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ after the death of his father; Umm Aiman used to nurse him until he grew up. He later on freed her and married her to Zaid Bin Haritha. She died five months after the death of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. | The Chapter on Alansar And Muhajirin in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 24 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-18067 | It has been narrated by Anas that after his migration to Medina a person placed at the Prophet ﷺ disposal some date-palms growing on his land until the lands of Quraidha and Nadir were conquered. Then he began to return to him whatever he had received. In this connection my people told me to approach the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and ask from him what his people had given him or a portion thereof; but the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had bestowed those trees upon Umm Aiman. So I came to the Prophet ﷺ and he gave hem back to me. Umm Aiman also came at this time. She put the cloth round my neck and said: No; by Allah; we will not give to; you what he has granted to me. The Prophet ﷺ said: Umm Aiman; let him have them and for you are such and such trees instead. But she said: By Allah; there is no god besides Him. No; never! The Prophet ﷺ continued saying: You will get such and such. until he had granted her ten times or nearly ten times more than the original gift. | The Chapter on Farming And Irrigation Land Of Plague in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 24 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-18145 | It has been narrated on the authority of Anas that; on the Day of Hunain. Umm Sulaim took out a dagger she had in her possession. Abiu Talha saw her and said: Messenger of Allah; this is Umm Sulaim. She is holding a dagger. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked her : What for are you holding this dagger? She said: I took it up so that I may tear open the belly of a polytheist who comes near me. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ began to smile at these words. She said: Messenger of Allah; kill all those people-other than us-whom thou hast declared to be free on the day of the Conquest of Mecca. They embraced Islam because they were defeated at your hands and as such their Islam is not dependable. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Umm Sulaim. God is sufficient against the mischief of the polytheists and He will be kind to us so you need not carry this dagger. | The Chapter on Pre-Islam And Charity in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 47 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-18214 | Jabir Bin Abdullah Allah be pleased with them reported: Allah Apostle ﷺ visited the orchard of Umm Masud and said: Umm Mabad. he who has planted this tree; is he a Muslim or a non-Muslim? She said: Of course; he is a Muslim; whereupon he the Holy Prophet said: No Muslim who plants trees and from their fruits the human beings or the beasts or birds eat; but that would be taken as an act of charity on the Day of Resurrection. | The Chapter on Idolaters And Infidels And Polytheist in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 2 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-19253 | Amir Bin Sharahil Shabi Shab Hamdan reported that he asked Fatima; daughter of Qais and sister of AlDahhak Bin Qais and she was the first amongst the emigrant women: Narrate to me a hadith which you had heard directly from Allah Messenger ﷺ and there is no extra link in between them. She said: Very well; if you like; I am prepared to do that; and he said to her: Well; do It and narrate that to me. She said: I married the son of Mughira and he was a chosen young man of Quraish at that time; but he fell as a martyr in the first Jihad fighting on the side of Allah Messenger ﷺ. When I became a widow; Abdulrahman Bin Auf; one amongst the group of the Companions of Allah Messenger ﷺ ; sent me the proposal of marriage. Allah Messenger ﷺ also sent me such a message for his freed slave Usama Bin Zaid. And it had been conveyed to me that Allah Messenger ﷺ had said about Usama : He who loves me should also love Usama. When Allah Messenger ﷺ talked to me about this matter ; I said: My affairs are in your hand. You may marry me to anyone whom you like. He said: You better shift now to the house of Umm Sharik; and Umm Sharik was a rich lady from amongst the Ansar. She spent generously for the cause of Allah and entertained guests very hospitably. I said: Well; I will do as you like. He said: Do not do that for Umm Sharik is a woman who is very frequently visited by guests and I do not like that your head may be uncovered or the cloth may be removed from your shank and the strangers may catch sight of them which you abhor. You better shift to the house of your cousin Abdullah Bin Amr Bin Umm Maktum and he is a person of the Bani Fihr branch of the Quraish; and he belonged to that tribe to which Fatima belonged. So I shifted to that house; and when my period of waiting was over; I heard the voice of an announcer making an announcement that the prayer would be observed in the Masjid where congregational prayer is observed. So I set out towards that Masjid and observed prayer along with Allah Messenger ﷺ and I was in the row of the women which was near the row of men. When Allah Messenger ﷺ had finished his prayer; he sat on the pulpit smiling and said: Every worshipper should keep sitting at his place. He then said: Do you know why I had asked you to assemble? They said: Allah and His Messenger know best. He said: By Allah. I have not made you assemble for exhortation or for a warning; but I have detained you here; for Tamim Dari; a Christian; who came and accepted Islam; told me something; which agrees with what I was telling; you about the Dajjal. He narrated to me that he had sailed in a ship along with thirty men of Bani Lakhm and Bani Judham and had been tossed by waves in the ocean for a month. Then these waves took them near the land within the ocean island at the time of sunset. They sat in a small side-boat and entered that island. There was a beast with long thick hair and because of these they could not distinguish his face from his back. They said: Woe to you; who can you be? Thereupon it said: I am AlJassasa. They said: What is AlJassasa? And it said: O people; go to this person in the monastery as he is very much eager to know about you. He the narrator said: When it named a person for us we were afraid of it lest it should be a devil. Then we hurriedly went on till we came to that monastery and found a well-built person there with his hands tied to his neck and having iron shackles between his two legs up to the ankles. We said: Woe be upon thee; who are you? And he said: You would soon come to know about me. but tell me who are you. We said: We are people from Arabia and we embarked upon a boat but the sea-waves had been driving us for one month and they brought as near this island. We got Into the side-boats and entered this island and here a beast met us with profusely thick hair and because of the thickness of his hair his face could not be distinguished from his back. We said: Woe be to thee; who are you? It said: I am AlJassasa. We said: What is AlJassasa? And it said: You go to this very person in the monastery for he is eagerly waiting for you to know about you. So we came to you in hot haste fearing that that might be the Devil. He that chained person said: Tell me about the date-palm trees of Baisan. We said: About what aspect of theirs do you seek information? He said: I ask you whether these trees bear fruit or not. We said: yes. Thereupon he said: I think these would not bear fruits. He said: Inform me about the lake of Tabariya? We said: Which aspect of it do you want to know? He said: Is there water in it? They said: There is abundance of water in it. Thereupon he said: I think it would soon become dry. He again said: Inform me about the spring of Zughar. They said: Which aspect of it you want to know? He the chained person said: Is there water in it and does it irrigate the land ? We said to him: Yes; there is abundance of water in it and the inhabitants of Medina irrigate land with the help of it; He said: Inform me about the unlettered Prophet; what has he done? We said: He has come out from Mecca and has settled In Yathrib Medina. He said: Do the Arabs fight against him? We said: Yes. He said: How did he deal with them? We informed him that he had overcome those in his neighbourhood and they had submitted themselves before him. Thereupon he said to us: Has it actually happened? We said: Yes. Thereupon he said: If it is so that is better for them that they should show obedience to him. I am going to tell you about myself and I am Dajjal and would be soon permitted to get out and so I shall get out and travel in the land; and will not spare any town where I would not stay for forty nights except Mecca and Medina as these two places are prohibited areas for me and I would not make an attempt to enter any one of these two. An angel with a sword in his hand would confront me and would bar my way and there would be angels to guard every passage leading to it; then Allah Messenger ﷺ striking the pulpit with the help of the end of his staff said: This implies Taiba meaning Medina. Have I not; told you an account of the Dajjal like this? The people said: Yes; and this account narrated by Tamim Dari was liked by me for it corroborates the account which I gave to you in regard to him Dajjal at Medina and Mecca. Behold he Dajjal is in the Syrian sea Mediterranean or the Yemen sea Arabian sea. Nay; on the contrary; he is in the east; he is in the east; he is in the east; and he pointed with his hand towards the east. I Fatima bint Qais said: I preserved it in my mind this narration from Allah Messenger ﷺ. | The Chapter on Moses And Prophets And Aldajjal in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 24 in Sahih Muslim

She said: Do supplicate Allah for blessings upon us; for Allah Apostle may peace be upon hiin used to say: The supplication of a Muslim for his brother at his back in his absence is responded so long as he makes a supplica- tion for blessings for his brother and the commissioned Angel says: Amen; and says: May it be for you too I I went to the bazar and met Abfi Dardi and he narrated like this from Allah Messenger ﷺ. | The Chapter on Premises in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 23 in Sahih Muslim

Umm Sulaim went out wrapping her head-dress hurriedly until she met Allah Messenger ﷺ. He said to her: Umm Sulaim; what is the matter with you? She said: Allah Apostle; you invoked curse upon my orphan girl. He said: Umm Sulaim; what is that? She said: She the orphan girl states you have cursed her saying that she might not grow in age or grow in life. Allah Messenger ﷺ smiled and then said: Umm Sulaim; dont you know that I have made this term with my Lord. And the term with my Lord is that I said to Him: 1 am a human being and I am pleased just as a human being is pleased and I lose temper just as a human being loses temper; so for any person from amongst my Ummah whom I curse and he in no way deserves it; let that; O Lord; be made a source of purification and purity and nearness to Allah on the Day of Resurrection. | The Chapter on Food And Invitations in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 25 in Sahih Muslim

SahihMuslim-017-001-20714 | Aisha reported that one day there sat together eleven women making an explicit promise amongst themselves that they would conceal nothing about their spouses. The first one said: My husband is a sort of the meat of a lean camel placed at the top of a hill; which it is difficult to climb up; nor the meat is good enough that one finds in oneself the urge to take it away from the top of that mountain. The second one said: My husband is so bad that I am afraid I would not be able to describe his faults-both visible and invisible completely. The third one said: My husband is a long-statured fellow i. e. he lacks intelligence. If I give vent to my feelings about him; he would divorce me; and if I keep quiet I would be made to live in a state of suspense neither completely abandoned by him nor entertained as wife. The fourth one said: My husband is like the night of Tihama the night of Hijaz and Mecca ; neither too cold nor hot; neither there is any fear of him nor grief. The fifth one said: My husband is like a leopard as he enters the house; and behaves like a lion when he gets out; and he does not ask about that which he leaves in the house. The sixth one said: So far as my husband is concerned; he eats so much that nothing is left back and when he drinks he drinks that no drop is left behind. And when he lies down he wraps his body and does not touch me so that he may know my grief. The seventh one said: My husband is heavy in spirit; having no brightness in him; impotent; suffering from all kinds of conceivable diseases; heaving such rough manners that he may break my head or wound my body; or may do both. The eighth one said: My husband is as sweet as the sweet-smelling plant; and as soft as the softness of the hare. The ninth one said: My husband is the master of a lofty building; long-statured; having heaps of ashes at his door and his house is near the meeting place and the inn. The tenth one said: My husband is Malik; and how fine Malik is; much above appreciation and praise of mine. He has many folds of his camel; more in number than the pastures for them. When they the camels hear the sound of music they become sure that they are going to be slaughtered. The eleventh one said: My husband is Abu Zara. How fine Abu Zara is! He has suspended in my ears heavy ornaments and fed me liberally that my sinews and bones are covered with fat. So he made me happy. He found me among the shepherds living in the side of the mountain; and he made me the owner of the horses; camels and lands and heaps of grain and he finds no fault with me. I sleep and get up in the morning at my own sweet will and drink to my heart content. The mother of Abu Zara; how fine is the mother of Abu Zara! Her bundles are heavily packed or receptacles in her house are filled to the brim and the house quite spacious. So far as the son of Abu Zara is concerned; his bed is as soft as a green palm-stick drawn forth from its bark; or like a sword drawn forth from its scabbard; and whom just an arm of a lamb is enough to satiate. So far as the daughter of Abu Zara is concerned; how fine is the daughter of Abu Zara; obedient to her father; obedient to her mother; wearing sufficient flesh and a source of jealousy for her co-wife. As for the slave-girl of Abu Zara; how fine is she; she does not disclose our affairs to others outside the four walls of the house. She does not remove our wheat; or provision; or take it forth; or squander it; but she preserves it faithfully as a sacred trust. And she does not let the house fill with rubbish. One day Abu Zara went out of his house when the milk was churned in the vessels; that he met a woman; having two children like leopards playing with her pomegranates chest under her vest. He divorced me Umm Zara and married that woman whom Abu Zara met on the way. I Umm Zara later on married another person; a chief; who was an expert rider; and a fine archer: he bestowed upon me many gifts and gave me one pair of every kind of animal and said: Umm Zara; make use of everything you need and send forth to your parents but the fact is that even if I combine all the gifts that he bestowed upon me; they stand no comparison to the least gift of Abu Zara. Aisha reported that Allah Messenger ﷺ said to me: I am for you as Abu Zara was for Umm Zara. | The Chapter on Marriage And The House in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 14 in Sahih Muslim

He Abu Talha had a sexual intercourse with her and when she saw that he was satisfied after sexual intercourse with her; she said: Abu Talha ; if some people borrow something from another family and then the members of the family ask for its return; would they resist its return? He said: No. She said: I inform you about the death of your son. He was annoyed; and said: You did not inform me until I had a sexual intercourse with you and you later on gave me information about my son. He went to Allah Messenger ﷺ and informed him what had happened. Thereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said: May Allah bless both of you in the night spent by you! He the narrator said: She became pregnant. Allah Messenger may peace he upon him was in the course of a journey and she was along with him and when Allah Messenger ﷺ came back to Medina from the journey he did not enter his house during the night. When the people came near Medina; she felt the pangs of delivery. He Abu Talha remained with her and Allah Messenger ﷺ proceeded on. Abu Talha said: O Lord; you know that I love to go along with Allah Messenger when he goes out and enter along with him when he enters and I have been detained as Thou seest. Umm Sulaim said: Abu Talha ; I do not feel so much pain as I was feeling formerly; so better proceed on. So we proceeded on and she felt the pangs of delivery as they reached Medina and a child was born and my mother said to me: Anas; none should suckle him until you go to Allah Messenger ﷺ tomorrow morning. And when it was morning I carried him the child and went along with him to Allah Messenger may peace beupon him. He said: I saw that he had in his hand the instrument for the cauterisation of the camels. When he saw me. he said: This is; perhaps; what Umm Sulaim has given birth to. I said: Yes. He laid down that instrument on the ground. I brought that child to him and placed it in his lap and Allah Messenger ﷺ asked Ajwa dates of Medina to be brought and softened them in his month. When these had become palatable he placed them in the mouth of that child. The child began to taste them. Then Allah Messenger ﷺ said: See what love the Ansar have for dates. He then wiped his face and named him Abdullah. | The Chapter on Fornication And Adultery And Theft in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 20 in Sahih Muslim

He Salim was the freed slave of a woman from the Ansar the Helpers as the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ adopted Zaid as his son. In pre Islamic days when anyone adopted a man as his son; the people called him by his name and he was given a share from his inheritance. Allaah; the Exalted; revealed about this matter Call them by the name of their fathers; that is juster in the sight of Allaah. And if ye know not their fathers; then they are your brethren in the faith and your clients. They were then called by their names of their fathers. A man; whose father was not known; remained under the protection of someone and considered brother in faith. Sahlah daughter of Suhail Bin Amr AlQuraishi then came and said Apostle of Allaah ﷺ ; we used to consider Salim our son. He dwelled with me and Abu Hudhaifah in the same house; and he saw me in the short clothes; but Allaah the Exalted; has revealed about them what you know; then what is your opinion about him? The Prophet ﷺ said give him your breast feed. She gave him five breast feeds. He then became like her foster son. We had a camel on which we could perform hajj; but Abu Maaqil had bequeathed it to the cause of Allah. He said: Why did you not go out for hajj upon it; for hajj is in the cause of Allah? If you miss this hajj along with us; perform umrah during Ramadan; for it is like hajj. She used to say: hajj is hajj; and umrah is umrah. Hani Ibn Kulthum AlRabi then said: I heard Mahmud Ibn AlRabi transmitting a tradition from Ubadah Ibn AlSamit who transmitted from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who said: If a man kills a believer unjustly; Allah will not accept any action or duty of his; obligatory or supererogatory. Khalid then said to us: Ibn Abu Zakariya transmitted a tradition to us from Umm AlDarda on the authority of AbudDarda from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who said: A believer will continue to go on quickly and well so long as he does not shed unlawful blood; when he sheds unlawful blood; he becomes slow and heavy-footed. She then should wash herself.1Abu Dawud said: Qatadah narrated it from Urwah Bin AlZubair; from Zainab daughter of Umm Salamah; that Umm Habibah daughter of Jahsh had a prolonged flow of blood. The Prophet ﷺ commanded her to abandon prayer for the period of her menses. She then should take a bath; and offer prayer.Abu Dawud said: Qatadah did not hear anything from Urwah. 2And Ibn Uyainah added in the tradition narrated by AlZuhri from Umrah on the authority of Aishah. Umm Habibah had a prolonged flow of blood. She asked the Prophet ﷺ. He commanded her to abandon prayer during her menstrual period.Abu Dawud said: This is a misunderstanding on the part of Ibn Uyainah. This is not found in the tradition reported by the transmitter from AlZuhri except that mentioned by Suhail Bin Abu Salih. AlHumaidi also narrated this tradition from Ibn Uyainah; but he did not mention the words she should abandon prayer during her menstrual period.1Qumair daughter of Masruq reported on the authority of Aisha: The woman who has prolonged flow of blood should abandon prayer during her menstrual period.3Abd AlRahman Bin AlQasim reported on the authority of his father: The Prophet ﷺ commanded her to abandon prayers equal to the length of time that she has her usual menses.2Abu Bishr Jafar Bin Abi Wahshiyah reported on the authority of Ikrimah from the Prophet ﷺ saying: Umm Habibah daughter of Jahsh had a prolonged flow of blood; and he transmitted like that.1Sharik narrated from Abu AlYaqzan from Adi Bin Thabit from his father on the authority of his grandfather from the Prophet ﷺ : The woman suffering from a prolonged flow of blood should abandon prayer during her menstrual period ; she then should was herself and pray. 1Al-Ala Bin AlMusayab reported from AlHakam on the authority of Abu Jafar; saying: Saudah had a prolonged flow of blood. Therefore; wash yourself and pray.Abu Dawud said: In this tradition which is transmitted by AlZuhri from Urwah and Urwah on the authority of Aisha; AlAwzai added: She Aisha said: Umm Habibah daughter of Jahsh and wife of Abdulrahman Bin Awuf had a prolonged flow of blood for seven years. The Prophet ﷺ commander her saying: When the menstruation begins; abandon prayer; when it is finished; take a bath and pray.Abu Dawud said: None of the disciple of AlZuhri mentioned these words except AlAwzai; from AlZuhri it has been narrated by Amr Bin AlHarith; AlLaith; Yunus; Ibn Abi Dhib; Mamar; Ibrahim Bin Sad; Sulaiman Bin Kathir; Ibn Ishaq and Sufyan Bin Uyainah; they did not narrate these words.Abu Dawud said: These are the words of the version reported by Hisham Bin Urwah from this father on the authority of Aishah. MuwataMalik-017-001-34454 | Yahya related to me from Malik from Abun Nadr; the mawla of Umar Ibn Ubaydullah; that Abu Murra; the mawla of Aqil Ibn Abi Talib; told him that he had heard Umm Hani bint Abi Talib say; I went to the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; in the year of the conquest and found him doing ghusl while his daughter Fatima; was screening him with a garment. I said to him; Peace be upon you and he said; Who is that? I replied; Umm Hani bint Abi Talib; and he said; Welcome; Umm Hani! When he had finished his ghusl; he stood and prayed eight rakas; covering himself with one garment; and then came away. I said; Messenger of Allah; the son of my mother; AIi; says that he is determined to kill so-and-so; son of Hubayra; a man I have placed under my protection. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; We give protection to whoever you have given protection to; Umm Hani. MuwataMalik-017-001-34717 | Yahya related to me from Malik that Ishaq Ibn Abdullah Ibn Abi Talha heard Anas Ibn Malik say that Abu Talha had said to Umm Sulaym; I have just been listening to the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; and his voice was very weak. I recognised hunger in it; so; do you have anything? She replied; Yes; and brought out some barley loaves. She took her long head scarf and wrapped up the bread with part of it and put it into my Anass hand and gave me part of it to wear. Then she sent me to the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace. Anas continued; I took it; and I found the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; sitting in the Masjid with some people. I watched them. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; Did Abu Talha send you? I replied; Yes. He said; For food? I said; Yes. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said to those with him; Let us go. He set off and I went among them until I came to Abu Talha and told him. Abu Talha said; Umm Sulaym! The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; has brought people and we have no food. What shall we give them to eat? She said; Allah and His Messenger know best. Anas continued; Abu Talha went out and met the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; and the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; approached with Abu Talha until they entered. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; Come now; Umm Sulaym; what have you got? She brought out bread. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; ordered it to be broken into pieces; and Umm Sulaym squeezed out onto it a container of clarified butter which she had seasoned. Then the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said whatever Allah wished him to say; and said; Will you give permission for ten of them to come in? He gave them permission; and they ate until they were full and then left. He said; Give permission to ten more. He gave them permission; and they ate until they were full and left. Then he said; Give permission to ten more. He gave them permission and they ate until they were full and left. Then he said; Give permission to ten more. He gave permission and they ate until they were full and left. There were seventy or eighty men. | The Chapter on Peace And Modesty in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Purity in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-34811 | Malik said in the case of an umm walad who injured someone; The blood-money of that injury is the responsibility of her master from his property; unless the blood-money of the injury is greater than the value of the umm walad. Her master does not have to pay more than her value. That is because when the master of a slave or slave-girl surrenders his slave or slave-girl for an injury which one of them has done; he does not owe any more than that; even if the blood-money is greater. As the master of the umm walad cannot surrender her because of the precedent of the sunna; when he pays her price; it is as if he had surrendered her. He does not have to pay more than that. This is the best of what I have heard about the matter. The master is not obliged to assume responsibility for more than an umm walad value because of her criminal action. | The Chapter on Injury In Crimes And Felonies in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Speech in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-34977 | Malik related to me that he heard that Urwa Ibn AlZubair and Sulayman Ibn Yasar when asked whether the sons of a man; who had a kitaba written for himself and his children and then died; worked for the kitaba of their father or were slaves; said; They work for the kitaba of their father and they have no reduction at all for the death of their father. Malik said; If they are small and unable to work; one does not wait for them to grow up and they are slaves of their father master unless the mukatab has left what will pay their instalments for them until they can work. If there is enough to pay for them in what he has left; that is paid for on their behalf and they are left in their condition until they can work; and then if they pay; they are free. If they cannot do it; they are slaves. Malik spoke about a mukatab who died and left property which was not enough to pay his kitaba; and he also left a child with him in his kitaba and an umm walad; and the umm walad wanted to work for them. He said; The money is paid to her if she is trustworthy with it and strong enough to work. If she is not strong enough to work and not trustworthy with property; she is not given any of it and she and the children of the mukatab revert to being slaves of the master of the mukatab. Malik said; If people are written together in one kitaba and there is no kinship between them; and some of them are incapable and others work until they are all set free; those who worked can claim from those who were unable; the portion of what they paid for them because some of them assumed the responsibility for others. | The Chapter on Slave As A Property in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Good Character in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-34983 | Malik said about a man who had his slave in a kitaba and then the mukatab died and left his umm walad; and there remained for him some of his kitaba to pay and he left what would pay it; The umm walad is a slave since the mukatab was not freed until he died and he did not leave children that were set free by his paying what remained; so that the umm walad of their father was freed by their being set free. Malik said about a mukatab who set free a slave of his or gave sadaqa with some of his property and his master did not know that until he had set the mukatab free; That has been performed by him and the master does not rescind it. If the master of the mukatab knows before he sets the mukatab free; he can reject that and not permit it. If the mukatab is then freed and it becomes in his power to do so; he does not have to free the slave; nor give the sadaqa unless he does it voluntarily from himself. | The Chapter on Slave As A Property in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Good Character in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35020 | Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi that Salim Ibn Abdullah Ibn Umar informed him that Aisha umm Almuminin sent him away while he was being nursed to her sister Umm Kulthum bint Abi Bakr AlSiddiq and said; Suckle him ten times so that he can come in to see me. Salim said; Umm Kulthum nursed me three times and then fell ill; so that she only nursed me three times. MuwataMalik-017-001-35026 | Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab that he was asked about the suckling of an older person. He said; Urwa Ibn AlZubair informed me that Abu Hudhayfa Ibn Utba Ibn Rabia; one of the companions of the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; who was present at Badr; adopted Salim who is called Salim; the mawla of Abu Hudhayfa as the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; adopted Zayd Ibn Haritha. He thought of him as his son; and Abu Hudhayfa married him to his brother sister; Fatima bint AlWalid Ibn Utba Ibn Rabia; who was at that time among the first emigrants. She was one of the best unmarried women of the Quraysh. When Allah the Exalted sent down in His Book what He sent down about Zayd Ibn Haritha; Call them after their true fathers. That is more equitable in the sight of Allah. If you do not know who their fathers were then they are your brothers in the deen and your mawali; Surat 33 ayat 5 people in this position were traced back to their fathers. When the father was not known; they were traced to their mawla. Sahla bint Suhayl who was the wife of Abu Hudhayfa; and one of the tribe of Amr Ibn Luay; came to the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; and said; Messenger of Allah! We think of Salim as a son and he comes in to see me while I am uncovered. We only have one room; so what do you think about the situation? The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; Give him five drinks of your milk and he will be mahram by it. She then saw him as a foster son. Aisha umm Almuminin took that as a precedent for whatever men she wanted to be able to come to see her. She ordered her sister; Umm Kulthum bint Abi Bakr AlSiddiq and the daughters of her brother to give milk to whichever men she wanted to be able to come in to see her. The rest of the wives of the Prophet; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; refused to let anyone come in to them by such nursing. They said; No! By Allah! We think that what the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; ordered Sahla bint Suhayl to do was only an indulgence concerning the nursing of Salim alone. No! By Allah! No one will come in upon us by such nursing! This is what the wives of the Prophet; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; thought about the suckling of an older person. | The Chapter on Permission To Enter The House in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Setting Free and Wala in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35257 | Yahya related to me from Malik from Abdullah Ibn Yazid; the mawla of AlAswad Ibn Sufyan from Abu Salama Ibn Abdulrahman Ibn Awuf from Fatima bint Qays that Abu Amr Ibn Hafs divorced her absolutely while he was away in Syria. His agent sent her some barley and she was displeased with it; saying; By Allah; I dont expect anything from you. She went to the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; and mentioned it to him. He said; You have no maintenance. He then ordered her to spend her idda in the house of Umm Sharik. Then he said; This is a woman whom my companions visit. Spend the idda in the house of Ibn Umm Maktum. He is a blind man and you can undress at his home. When you are free to remarry; tell me. She continued; When I was free to remarry; I mentioned to him that Muawiya Ibn Abi Sufyan and Abu Jahm Ibn Hisham had asked for me in marriage. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; As for Abu Jahm; he never puts down his stick from his shoulder i.e. he is always travelling ; and as for Muawiya he is a poor man with no property. Marry Usama Ibn Zayd. I objected to him and he said; Marry Usama Ibn Zayd; so I married him; and Allah put good in it and I was content with him. | The Chapter on Marriage And Iddah in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Wills and Testaments in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35276 | Yahya related to me from Malik from Abdu Rabbih Ibn Said Ibn Qays that Abu Salama Ibn Abdulrahman said that Abdullah Ibn Abbas and Abu Huraira were asked when a pregnant woman whose husband had died could remarry. Ibn Abbas said; At the end of two periods. Abu Huraira said; When she gives birth; she is free to marry. Abu Salama Ibn Abdulrahman visited Umm Salamah; the wife of the Prophet; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; and asked her about it Umm Salamah said; Subaya AlAslamiya gave birth half a month after the death of her husband; and two men asked to marry her. One was young and the other was old. She preferred the young man and so the older man said; You are not free to marry yet. Her family were away and he hoped that when her family came; they would give her to him. MuwataMalik-017-001-35296 | Yahya related to me from Malik from Abdullah Ibn Abi Bakr Ibn Muhammad Ibn Amr Ibn Hazm from Humayd Ibn Nafi that Zaynab bint Abi Salama related these three traditions to him. Zaynab said; I visited Umm Habiba; the wife of the Prophet; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; when her father Abu Sufyan Ibn Harb had died. Umm Habiba called for a yellowy perfume perhaps khaluq or something else. She rubbed the perfume first on a slave-girl and she then wiped it on the sides of her face and said; By Allah! I have no need of perfume but I heard the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; say; It is not halal for a woman who trusts in Allah and the Last Day to abstain from adornment in mourning for someone who has died; for more than three nights; except for four months and ten days for a husband. | The Chapter on Peace And Mercy in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Sacrificial Animals in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35303 | 108 Yahya related to me from Malik that he had heard that the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; visited Umm Salamah while she was in mourning for Abu Salama and she had put aloes on her eyes. He said; What is this; Umm Salama? She said; It is only aloes; Messenger of Allah. He said; Put it on at night and wipe it off in the daytime. Malik said; The mourning of a young girl who has not yet had a menstrual period takes the same form as the mourning of one who has had a period. She avoids what a mature woman avoids if her husband dies. Malik said; A slave-girl mourns her husband when he dies for two months and five nights like her idda. Malik said; An umm walad does not have to mourn when her master dies; and a slave-girl does not have to mourn when her master dies. Mourning is for those with husbands. | The Chapter on Slaves And Praise And Worship in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Slaughtering Animals in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35338 | Yahya related to me from Malik that he had asked Ibn Shihab about a man who had a slave-girl as a wife; and then he bought her; and divorced her once. He said; She is halal for him by the possession of the right hand as long as he does not make his divorce irrevocable. If he irrevocably divorces her; she is not halal for him by the possession of the right hand until she has married another husband. Malik said that if a man rnarried a female slave and then she had a child by him; and then he bought her; she was not an umm walad for him because of the child born to him while she belonged to another; until she had had a child by him while she was in his possession after he had purchased her. Malik said; If he buys her and she is pregnant by him and she then gives birth while she belongs to him; she is his umm walad by that pregnancy; according to what we think; and Allah knows best. | The Chapter on Financial Transaction And Charity in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Suckling in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35354 | Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab that Umm Hakim bint AlHarith Ibn Hisham who was the wife of Ikrima Ibn Abi Jahl became muslim on the day of the conquest of Makka; and her husband Ikrima fled from Islam as far as the Yemen. Umm Hakim set out after him until she came to him in the Yemen and she called him to Islam; and he became muslim. He went to the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; in the year of the conquest. When the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; saw him; he rushed to him in joy and did not bother to put on his cloak until he had made the pledge with him. They were confirmed in their marriage. Malik said; If a man becomes muslim before his wife; a separation occurs between them when he presents Islam to her and she does not become muslim; because Allah; the Blessed; the Exalted; said in His Book; Do not hold fast to the ties of women who are kafirun. | The Chapter on Wives And Relationship Child And Husbands in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Vows and Oaths in Muwata Malik

She said; O Messenger of Allah! Ask Allah to put me among them! So he had made a dua for her; and put his head down and slept. Then he had woken up smiling; and she said to him; Messenger of Allah; why are you smiling? He said; Some of my community were presented to me; raiding in the way of Allah. They were kings on thrones or like kings on thrones; as he had said in the first one. She said; O Messenger of Allah! Ask Allah to put me among them! He said; You are among the first. He continued; Then we went and visited Umm Salamah; and Abdulrahman asked her about the same matter and she said the same as Aisha had said. Then we went off until we came to Marwan Ibn AlHakam Abdulrahman told him what they had both said and Marwan said; I swear to you; Abu Muhammad; you must use the mount which is at the door; and go to Abu Huraira; who is on his land at AlAqiq; and tell him this. So Abdulrahman rode off; and I went with him; until we came to Abu Huraira. This made him very anxious; and so he sent his wife to the Prophet; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; to ask him about that for him. She went in and saw Umm Salamah; the wife of the Prophet; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; and mentioned the matter to her; and Umm Salamah told her that the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; used to kiss while he was fasting. So she went back and told her husband that; but it only made him find fault all the more and he said; We are not like the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace. Allah makes permissible for the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; whatever He wishes. His wife then went back to Umm Salamah and found the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; with her. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; What the matter with this woman?; and Umm Salamah told him. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; Didnt you tell her that I do that myself? and she said; I told her; and she went to her husband and told him; but it only made him find fault all the more and say; We are not like the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace. Allah makes permissible for His Messenger; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; whatever He wishes.
