Some say they were fifty-three or fifty-two persons of my tribe. We embarked upon a boat; and the boat sailed away to the Negus of Abyssinia. There we met Jafar Bin Abu Talib and his companions. Jafar said: Allall Messenger ﷺ has sent us here and has commanded us to stay here and you should also stay with us. So we stayed with him and we came back to Medina and met Allah Messenger ﷺ when Khaibar had been conquered. He the Holy Prophet allocated a share to us and in the ordinary course he did not allocate the share to one who had been absent on the occasion of the conquest of Khaibar but conferred a share upon him only who had been present there with him. He; however; made an exception for the people of the boat; viz. for Jafar and his companions. He allocated a share to them; and some persons from amongst the people said to us; viz. the people of the boat: We have preceded you in migration. Asma bint Umais who had migrated to Abyssinia and had come back along with them along with immigrants visited Hafsa; the wife of Allah Apostle ﷺ. Accordingly ; Umar had been sitting with her Hafsa. As Umar saw Asma; he said: Who is she? She Hafsa said: She is Asma; daughter of Umais. He said: She is an Abyssinian and a sea-woman. Asma said: Yes; it is so. Thereupon Umar said: We preceded you in migration and so we have more right to Allah Messenger ﷺ as compared with you. At this she felt annoyed and said: Umar; you are not stating the fact; by Allah; you had the privilege of being in the company of the Messenger ﷺ who fed the hungry among you and instructed the ignorant amongst you; whereas we had been far from here in the land of Abyssinia amongst the enemies and that was all for Allah and Allah Messenger ﷺ and; by Allah; I would never take food nor take water unless I make a mention to Allah Messenger ﷺ of what you have said. We remained in that country in constant trouble and dread and I shall talk about it to Allah Messenger way ﷺ and ask him about it. By Allah; I shall not tell a lie and deviate from the truth and add anything to that. So; when Allah Apostle ﷺ came; she said: Allah Apostle; Umar says so and so. Upon this Allah Messenger ﷺ said: His right is not more than yours; for him and his companions there is one migration; but for you; i. e. for the people of the boat; there are two migrations. She said: I saw Abu Mousa and the people of the boat coming to me in groups and asking me about this hadith; because there was nothing more pleasing and more significant for them than this. Zaid; you have in fact earned a great virtue. Zaid; narrate to us what you heard from Allah Messenger ﷺ. He said: I have grown old and have almost spent my age and I have forgotten some of the things which I remembered in connection with Allah Messenger ﷺ ; so accept whatever I narrate to you; and which I do not narrate do not compel me to do that. He then said: One day Allah Messenger ﷺ stood up to deliver sermon at a watering place known as Khumm situated between Mecca and Medina. He praised Allah; extolled Him and delivered the sermon and. exhorted us and said: Now to our purpose. O people; I am a human being. I am about to receive a messenger the angel of death from my Lord and I; in response to Allah call; would bid good-bye to you ; but I am leaving among you two weighty things: the one being the Book of Allah in which there is right guidance and light; so hold fast to the Book of Allah and adhere to it. Narrated Urwa: I asked Aisha the wife of the Prophet ﷺ about the meaning of the following Verse: - Respite will be granted Until when the apostles give up hope of their people and thought that they were denied by their people............... 12.110 Aisha replied; Really; their nations did not believe them. I said; By Allah! They were definite that their nations treated them as liars and it was not a matter of suspecting. Aisha said; O Uraiya i.e. Urwa ! No doubt; they were quite sure about it. I said; May the Verse be read in such a way as to mean that the apostles thought that Allah did not help them? Aisha said; Allah forbid! Impossible The Apostles did not suspect their Lord of such a thing. But this Verse is concerned with the Apostles followers who had faith in their Lord and believed in their apostles and their period of trials was long and Allah Help was delayed till the apostles gave up hope for the conversion of the disbelievers amongst their nation and suspected that even their followers were shaken in their belief; Allah Help then came to them. 2. Narrated Hudhaifa Bin AlYaman: The people used to ask Allah Messenger ﷺ about good; but I used to ask him about evil for fear that it might overtake me. Once I said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! We were in ignorance and in evil and Allah has bestowed upon us the present good; will there by any evil after this good? He said; Yes. I asked; Will there be good after that evil? He said; Yes; but it would be tained with Dakhan i.e. Little evil. I asked; What will its Dakhan be? He said; There will be some people who will lead people according to principles other than my tradition. You will see their actions and disapprove of them. I said; Will there by any evil after that good? He said; Yes; there will be some people who will invite others to the doors of Hell; and whoever accepts their invitation to it will be thrown in it by them. I said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Describe those people to us. He said; They will belong to us and speak our language I asked; What do you order me to do if such a thing should take place in my life? He said; Adhere to the group of Muslims and their Chief. I asked; If there is neither a group of Muslims nor a chief what shall I do ? He said; Keep away from all those different sects; even if you had to bite i.e. eat the root of a tree; till you meet Allah while you are still in that state. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3953

Narrated Fadalah Bin Ubaid: That he heard Umar Bin AlKhattab saying: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: The martyrs are four: A believing man whose faith is good; he meets the enemy and proves faithful to Allah until he is killed. That is the one to whom the people will raise up their eyes like this on the Day of Judgement and he raised his head until his Qalansuwah fell - [he said:] I do not know if it was Umar Qalansuwah or the Qalansuwah of the Prophet ﷺ that fell - he said; And a believing man whose faith is good but not as brave as first ; he meets the enemy; but due to cowardice; it only appears that he was struck with a thorn of an acacia tree when an unexpected arrow comes to him; yet it kills him. He is among the second level. And a believing man who has mixed righteous deed with another evil one; he meets his enemy and proves faithful to Allah until he is killed. This one is in the third level. And a believing man who wasted himself in wrongdoing ; he meets the enemy and proves faithful to Allah until he is killed. This one is in the fourth level.[Abu Eisa said:] This Hadith isHassan Gharib; it is not known except as a narration of Ata Bin Dinar.He said: I heard Muhammad saying: Saeed Bin Abi Ayoub reported this Hadith from Ata Bin Dinar - from some Shaikhs of Khawlan - and he did not mention from Abu Yazid in it. 5. Abu Mousa reported: We were in Yemen when we heard of the migration of Allah Messenger ﷺ. We also set out as immigrants to him. And I was accompanied by two brothers of mine; I being the youngest of them; one of them was Abu Burda and the other one was Abu Ruhm; and there were some other persons with them. Some say they were fifty-three or fifty-two persons of my tribe. We embarked upon a boat; and the boat sailed away to the Negus of Abyssinia. There we met Jafar Bin Abu Talib and his companions. Jafar said: Allall Messenger ﷺ has sent us here and has commanded us to stay here and you should also stay with us. So we stayed with him and we came back to Medina and met Allah Messenger ﷺ when Khaibar had been conquered. He the Holy Prophet allocated a share to us and in the ordinary course he did not allocate the share to one who had been absent on the occasion of the conquest of Khaibar but conferred a share upon him only who had been present there with him. He; however; made an exception for the people of the boat; viz. for Jafar and his companions. He allocated a share to them; and some persons from amongst the people said to us; viz. the people of the boat: We have preceded you in migration. Asma bint Umais who had migrated to Abyssinia and had come back along with them along with immigrants visited Hafsa; the wife of Allah Apostle ﷺ. Accordingly ; Umar had been sitting with her Hafsa. As Umar saw Asma; he said: Who is she? She Hafsa said: She is Asma; daughter of Umais. He said: She is an Abyssinian and a sea-woman. Asma said: Yes; it is so. Thereupon Umar said: We preceded you in migration and so we have more right to Allah Messenger ﷺ as compared with you. At this she felt annoyed and said: Umar; you are not stating the fact; by Allah; you had the privilege of being in the company of the Messenger ﷺ who fed the hungry among you and instructed the ignorant amongst you; whereas we had been far from here in the land of Abyssinia amongst the enemies and that was all for Allah and Allah Messenger ﷺ and; by Allah; I would never take food nor take water unless I make a mention to Allah Messenger ﷺ of what you have said. We remained in that country in constant trouble and dread and I shall talk about it to Allah Messenger way ﷺ and ask him about it. By Allah; I shall not tell a lie and deviate from the truth and add anything to that. So; when Allah Apostle ﷺ came; she said: Allah Apostle; Umar says so and so. Upon this Allah Messenger ﷺ said: His right is not more than yours; for him and his companions there is one migration; but for you; i. e. for the people of the boat; there are two migrations. She said: I saw Abu Mousa and the people of the boat coming to me in groups and asking me about this hadith; because there was nothing more pleasing and more significant for them than this. Abu Burda reported that Asma said: I saw Abu Mousa; asking me to repeat this hadith to him again and again. SahihMuslim-017-001-20820
6. Narrated Urwa from Aisha: The wives of Allah Messenger ﷺ were in two groups. One group consisted of Aisha; Hafsa; Safiya and Sauda; and the other group consisted of Umm Salamah and the other wives of Allah Messenger ﷺ. The Muslims knew that Allah Messenger ﷺ loved Aisha; so if any of them had a gift and wished to give to Allah Messenger ﷺ ; he would delay it; till Allah Messenger ﷺ had come to Aisha home and then he would send his gift to Allah Messenger ﷺ in her home. The group of Umm Salamah discussed the matter together and decided that Umm Salamah should request Allah Messenger ﷺ to tell the people to send their gifts to him in whatever wife house he was. Umm Salamah told Allah Messenger ﷺ of what they had said; but he did not reply. Then they those wives asked Umm Salamah about it. She said; He did not say anything to me. They asked her to talk to him again. She talked to him again when she met him on her day; but he gave no reply. When they asked her; she replied that he had given no reply. They said to her; Talk to him till he gives you a reply. When it was her turn; she talked to him again. He then said to her; Do not hurt me regarding Aisha; as the Divine Inspirations do not come to me on any of the beds except that of Aisha. On that Umm Salamah said; I repent to Allah for hurting you. Then the group of Umm Salamah called Fatima; the daughter of Allah Messenger ﷺ and sent her to Allah Messenger ﷺ to say to him; Your wives request to treat them and the daughter of Abu Bakr on equal terms. Then Fatima conveyed the message to him. The Prophet ﷺ said; O my daughter! Dont you love whom I love? She replied in the affirmative and returned and told them of the situation. They requested her to go to him again but she refused. They then sent Zainab bint Jahsh who went to him and used harsh words saying; Your wives request you to treat them and the daughter of Ibn Abu Quhafa on equal terms. On that she raised her voice and abused Aisha to her face so much so that Allah Messenger ﷺ looked at Aisha to see whether she would retort. Aisha started replying to Zainab till she silenced her. The Prophet ﷺ then looked at Aisha and said; She is really the daughter of Abu Bakr. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-4768
7. It has been reported on the authority of Anas Bin Malik that when the enemy got the upper hand on the day of the Battle of Uhud; the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was left with only seven men from the ansar and two men from the Quraish. When the enemy advanced towards him and overwhelmed him; he said: Whoso turns them away from us will attain Paradise or will be my Companion in Paradise. A man from the Ansar came forward and fought the enemy until he was killed. The enemy advanced and overwhelmed him again and he repeated the words: Whoso turns them away; from us will attain Paradise or will be my Companion in Paradise. A man from the Arsar came forward and fought until he was killed. This state continued until the seven Ansar were killed one after the other. Now; the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to his two Companions: We have not done justice to our Companions. SahihMuslim-017-001-18105
8. Narrated AlRubayi bint Muauwidh: We were in the company of the Prophet ﷺ providing the wounded with water and treating them and bringing the killed to Medina from the battle field. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-4554
9. Abu Tufail reported that there was a dispute between Hudhaifa and one from the people of Aqaba as it happens amongst people. He said: I adjure you by Allah to tell me as to how many people from Aqaba were. The people said to him Hudhaifa to inform him as he had asked. We have been informed that they were fourteen and If you are to be counted amongst them; then they would be fifteen and I state by Allah that twelve amongst them were the enemies of Allah and of His Messenger ﷺ in this world. The rest of the three put forward this excuse: We did not hear the announcement of Allah Messenger ﷺ and we were not aware of the intention of the people as he the Holy Prophet had been in the hot atmosphere. He the Holy Prophet then said: The water is small in quantity at the next station. So nobody should go ahead of me; but he found people who had gone ahead of him and he cursed them on that day.
