2. Narrated Amr Bin Shuaib: from his father; from his grandfather; who said There was a man named Marthad Bin Abi Marthad; and he was a man who would carry captives from Makkah to AlMadinah. He said: And there was a prostitute woman in Makkah called Anaq; who was a friend of his. He had promised a man from the captives of Makkah that he would transport him; and he said: So I came until I reached one of the walls of Makkah on a moon-lit night. He said Anaq came along and she saw the darkness of my shadow next to the wall. When she reached me she recognized me and said: Marthad? So I replied: Yes it is Marthad. She said: Welcome; come and spend the night with us. I said: O Anaq! Allah has made illicit sexual relations unlawful. So she said: O people of the tents! That is the man who takes your captives away! He said: Eight people followed me; and I went through the passes of AlKhandamah. I stopped at a cave and entered it. They came until they stood over my head; and they began urinating; their urine falling on my head. Yet Allah made them unable to see me. He said: Then I went back. I returned to my companion to transport him - and he was a heavy man - until I reached AlIdhkir. There I removed his shackles to make him easier to carry; since he was exhausting me; until I arrived at AlMadinah. I went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and I said O Messenger of Allah! May I marry Anaq? [I said this; two times] but the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was silent; and he did not reply to me at all until the following was revealed: The Zani marries not but a Zaniyah or a Mushrikah; and the Zaniyah; none marries her except a Zani or a Mushrik 24:3. But it was revealed concering the Ansar. Before they accepted Islam; they sued to enter Ihram for the false goddess Manat whom they used to worship at AlMushallal. Whoever enter Ihram for her would refrain from going between AlSafa and AlMarwah. When they asked the Messenger of Allah about that; Allah; the Might and Sublime; revealed: Verily AlSafa and AlMarwah Two mountains in Makkah are of the Symbols of Allah. So it is not a sin on him who performs Hajj or Urmrah Pilgrimage of the House the Kabah at Makkah to perform the going Tawaf between them As-Safa and AlMarwah. 6. Abu AlZubair reported: I asked Jabir about ithe eating of the lizard; whereupon he said: Dont eat that as he the Holy Prophet felt disgust. He came to the Masjid Kabah and began to look for Allah Apostle ﷺ and he did not recognize him the Holy Prophet and he did not even like that he should ask about him from anyone until it was night; and he slept. Ali saw him and found him to be a stranger. So he went with him. He followed him but one did not make any inquiry from the other about anything until it was morning. He then brought the water and his provisions to the Masjid and spent a day there; but he did not see Allah Apostle ﷺ until it was night. He then returned to his bed; and there happened to pass Ali and he said: This man has not been able to find his destination until this time. He made him stand and he went with him and no one made an inquiry from his companion about anything. And when it was the third day he did the same. Ali made him stand up and brought him along with him. He said: By Him; besides Whom there is no god; why dont you tell me the reason which brought you here to this town? He said: I shall do this provided you hold me promise and a covenant that you would guide me aright. He then did that. He Ali said: Verily; he is truthful and he is a Messenger of Allah ﷺ and when it is morning; follow me and if I would say anything from which I would sense fear about you I would stand in a manner as if I was throwing water and if I move on; you then follow me until I get in some house. He did that and I followed him until he came to Allah Messenger ﷺ. He entered the house of Allah Apostle ﷺ along with him and listened to his words and embraced Islam at this very place. Allah Apostle ﷺ said to him: Go to your people and inform them until my command reaches you. Thereupon he said: By Him in Whose Hand is my life; I shall say to the people of Mecca this thing at the top of my voice. So he set forth until he came to the Masjid and then spoke at the top of his voice saying : I bear testimony to the fact that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. The people attacked him and made him fall down when AlAbbas came and he leaned over him and said: Woe be upon you; dont you know that he is from amongst the tribe of Ghifar and your trading route to Syria passes through the settlements of this tribe ; and he rescued him. He Abu Dharr did the same on the next day and they the Meccans again attacked him and AlAbbas leaned upon him and he rescued him. SahihMuslim-017-001-20771
6. Narrated Urwa: I asked Aisha : How do you interpret the statement of Allah;. : Verily! the mountains AlSafa and AlMarwa are among the symbols of Allah; and whoever performs the Hajj to the Kaba or performs Umra; it is not harmful for him to perform Tawaf between them Safa and Marwa. 2.158. By Allah! it is evident from this revelation there is no harm if one does not perform Tawaf between Safa and Marwa. Aisha said; O; my nephew! Your interpretation is not true. Had this interpretation of yours been correct; the statement of Allah should have been; It is not harmful for him if he does not perform Tawaf between them. But in fact; this divine inspiration was revealed concerning the Ansar who used to assume lhram for worship ping an idol called Manat which they used to worship at a place called AlMushallal before they embraced Islam; and whoever assumed Ihram for the idol ; would consider it not right to perform Tawaf between Safa and Marwa. When they embraced Islam; they asked Allah Messenger ﷺ ﷺ regarding it; saying; O Allah Apostle! We used to refrain from Tawaf between Safa and Marwa. So Allah revealed: Verily; the mountains AlSafa and AlMarwa are among the symbols of Allah. Aisha added; Surely; Allah Apostle set the tradition of Tawaf between Safa and Marwa; so nobody is allowed to omit the Tawaf between them. Later on I Urwa told Abu Bakr Bin Abdulrahman of Aisha narration and he said; I have not heard of such information; but I heard learned men saying that all the people; except those whom Aisha mentioned and who used to assume lhram for the sake of Manat; used to perform Tawaf between Safa and Marwa. When Allah referred to the Tawaf of the Kaba and did not mention Safa and Marwa in the Quran; the people asked; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! We used to perform Tawaf between Safa and Marwa and Allah has revealed the verses concerning Tawaf of the Kaba and has not mentioned Safa and Marwa. Is there any harm if we perform Tawaf between Safa and Marwa? So Allah revealed: Verily AlSafa and AlMarwa are among the symbols of Allah. Abu Bakr said; It seems that this verse was revealed concerning the two groups; those who used to refrain from Tawaf between Safa and Marwa in the Pre- Islamic Period of ignorance and those who used to perform the Tawaf then; and after embracing Islam they refrained from the Tawaf between them as Allah had enjoined Tawaf of the Kaba and did not mention Tawaf of Safa and Marwa till later after mentioning the Tawaf of the Kaba. 7. Narrated Ibn Abbas: When Allah Messenger ﷺ and his companions came to Mecca; the pagans circulated the news that a group of people were coming to them and they had been weakened by the Fever of Yathrib Medina. So the Prophet ordered his companions to do Ramal in the first three rounds of Tawaf of the Kaba and to walk between the two corners The Black Stone and Yemenite corner. The Prophet ﷺ did not order them to do Ramal in all the rounds of Tawaf out of pity for them. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-5739
8. Abu AlTufail said I said to Ibn Abbas Your people think that the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ walked proudly with swift strides while going round the Kabah and that it is sunnah practice of the Prophet. He said They spoke the truth in part and told a lie in part. I asked What truth did they speak and what lie did they tell? He said They spoke the truth that the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ walked proudly while going round the Kabah but they told a lie; this is no sunnah. The Quraish asserted during the days of AlHudaibiyah Forsake Muhammad and his Companions till they die the death of a Camel which dies of bacteria in its nose. When they concluded a treaty with him agreeing upon the fact that they the Prophet and his Companions would come to Makkah next year and stay at Makkah three days; the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ said to the Companions Walk proudly moving shoulders while going round the Kabah in first three circuits. Ibn Abbas said But this is not sunnah. I said Your people think that the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ ran between AlSafa and AlMarwah on a Camel and that is sunnah. He said They spoke the truth in part and told a lie in part. I asked What truth did they speak and what lie did they tell? He said they spoke the truth that the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ ran between AlSafa and AlMarwah on a Camel. They told a lie that it is a sunnah. As the people did not move from around the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ and did not separate themselves from him he did the sai on a Camel so that they may listen to him and see his position and their hands might not reach him. 9. Narrated Abdullah: Once the Prophet ﷺ was offering the prayer in the shade of the Kaba. Abu Jahl and some Quraishi men sent somebody to bring the Abdominal contents of a shecamel which had been slaughtered somewhere in Mecca; and when he brought them; they put them over the Prophet ﷺ Then Fatima i.e. the Prophet daughter came and threw them away from him; and he said; O Allah! Destroy the pagans of Quraish; O Allah! Destroy Quraish; O Allah Destroy Quraish; naming especially Abu Jahl Bin Hisham; Utba Bin Rabia; Shaiba Bin Rabia; AlWalid Bin Utba; Ubai Bin Khalaf and Uqba Bin Abi Mitt. The narrator; Abdullah added; I saw them all killed and thrown in the Badr well. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-4604
10. Narrated Hisham Ibn Urwa from his father who said: While I was a youngster; I asked Aisha the wife of the Prophet. What about the meaning of the Statement of Allah; Verily! the mountains AlSafa and AlMarwa; are among the symbols of Allah. So; it is not harmful if those who perform Hajj or Umra of the House Kaba at Mecca to perform the going Tawaf between them? 2.158 I understand from that that there is no harm if somebody does not perform the Tawaf between them. Aisha replied; No; for if it were as you are saying; then the recitation would have been like this: It is not harmful not to perform Tawaf between them. This verse was revealed in connection with the Ansar who used to assume the Ihram for the idol Manat which was put beside a place called Qudaid and those people thought it not right to perform the Tawaf of AlSafa and AlMarwa. When Islam came; they asked Allah Messenger ﷺ about that; and Allah revealed:- Verily! the mountains AlSafa and AlMarwa Are among the symbols of Allah. So; it is not harmful of those who perform Hajj or Umra of the House Kaba at Mecca to perform the going Tawaf between them. 2.158 Sufyan and Abu Muawiya added from Hisham from Aisha : The Hajj or Umra of the person who does not perform the going Tawaf between AlSafa and AlMarwa is incomplete in Allah sight.
